cuz he’s on his way now to join Sarah with the clar jug in hands. Let’s hear from the open champion three. Scotty Sheffller. Many many congratulations. You’ve had a few moments to soak it in. Can you kind of sum up in any sense what this means to be holding to be cradling this famous trophy, the joy elation you feel right now? Yeah, it’s it’s a pretty special feeling. You know, it was a tough week. I uh I battled hard all weekend and uh you today once again was a battle but played some really good golf and I’m fortunate to be you know standing here holding the trophy. You work exceptionally hard. You dreamt of moments like this as a kid growing up to land these four major championships. You’re standing here now with the clar truck. It’s the open championship. It’s about history. It’s about tradition. It’s about the weather. It’s about Lings Golf. How special and unique is this week for you? Yeah, it’s pretty fun. I mean, I grew up waking up early to watch this tournament on TV, just uh hoping and dreaming I would get to chance to come play in this championship and um you know, it’s uh it’s pretty cool to be sitting here with the trophy. It’s it’s hard to put into words. Arguably, your greatest strength is probably your mental strength, the calmness and composure you have out on the golf course. We all want to know how do you do it? How do you manage it? What is that secret? Yeah, I don’t really know. Um you know, I felt I felt a good amount of peace today. I felt very in control of how I was playing. and I was uh very comfortable with my game and you know Teddy did a really good job of uh keeping me in a good head space all day even after the uh little hiccup there on the eighth hole. You know, we bounced back really quick with a birdie on nine and kind of got things back in gear pretty quick and um you know it I mean really every day is a battle playing this game is it’s a battle within yourself all the time to try and get the most out of your game and yourself and uh you know this week I did a really good job of kind of hanging in there mentally and um you know playing some good golf. What gives you that peace? What gives you that perspective? Yeah, I’m not not really sure. You know, uh out here, you know, I feel like I’m I’m called to compete as best I can. And um you know, when I’m inside the ropes, that’s what I’m trying to do. I’m trying to compete and do the best I can. And uh I don’t really think about too much outside of that when we’re inside the ropes. Clar Jug the Open Championship, leg three of the career grand slam. Can you quite believe that at 29 years of age? Yeah, it’s uh you know, like I said, it’s hard to put into words and um you know, I just just really received the trophy and the tournament just ended. So, it’ll take a little while for this to sink in, but um you know, right now it’s it’s a pretty cool feeling. Just finally for these fans, you said you haven’t had a chance to sample the town as yet. Will that change later? Maybe a trip into Port Rush in a few hours time. N I think I’m going to be heading back home. We we did get out for for breakfast each day, but um outside that we’ll be heading, you know, heading back home. And a final thank you to these fans. Yeah, thank you so much for uh for all the support this week. Um the the fans were tremendous. They really were. And um it was a joy this week. Scotty, a privilege to watch you, ladies and gentlemen. The champion golfer of the year, Scotty Sheffller. Thank you.

Iโm sorry but the RNA should be ashamed, no one should win a open in the double digits. When are they going to make these courses match the level of game. These majors should be won around par. You donโt have to hit a fairway to win. Scotty deserved to win, but these tournaments are a joke. Wasnโt there a tournament this year where guys were like -30 at the end. When I was a kid you could always depend on the US open and the British open to penalize players for missing the fairway. Not today. Not how golf was intended.
The answer to his mental strength….He has a great family life…he doesn't drink or smoke….as simple as that…life is great on and off the course
I don't care what people say, Scottie is a stone cold KILLER!
Iโm glad he won it he worked hard we now have an American pope and now an American open champion what more could I ask for it was a simple task at 29 he will continue god bless America
He absolutely doesn't give two fooks about accolades or interviews. This man just wants to go to work and go home to his family.29 years young and has life sussed out already. Closest thing to tiger we will see for a generation.
Yawn
Why do people cheer rory because he was born by where they live. If you hate your neighbours you should support the fella born furthest away like Li? It doesnt mean anything that he shopped in the same street as you get your shopping does it?
Energy of a guy who finished 34th in the John Deere.
Man is acting slightly annoyed by her and seems overall like he just wants to go home and kick his shoes off and binge watch Netflix ๐
What keeps him calm is his faith. He knows that Golf and winning the Open isnโt a huge deal compared to other things in life that are far more important. Perspective = calmness.
He's a phenomenal player. Effortlessly brilliant. Currently winning majors for fun.
Scottie already made his point โค๏ธso long as we see many millions just for winning at sport ๐itโs a crazy world we live in โค
The more I see and hear him. The more im.a FAN. .No sugar coating. Or playing up the media with dramatic quotes. Just a regular guy with an INSANE golf game. He's SO down to earth, humble, and well spoke ..Also very assure of the man he is at 29. Which that alone is rare these days. .Scottie just built different ๐ Where Tiger choose to be secluded and not have a family life for over a decade. Scottie is raining Supreme surrounded by loved ones and his young family/child. .It's literally the polar opposite of what Tiger did..Prooving imo you can win at this game in SO many ways…Its the man that goes with the talent..Not the talent that goes with the man. .โคโคโค
The most boring person I've ever seen pick up clubs. Out of everyone to win not him ๐
charisma levels over 9000.
Unbelievable player, but jesus christ is he boring. Borderline disrespectful to the game in the pre tournament interview too. Don't think there is anyone else who plays golf who would think that winning a major would only satisfy them for two minutes. Very odd individual in my opinion.
Golf like so many a pathetic sport when we see millions itโs a crazy world we live in
I was happier when I won a meat raffle at my local RSL. If thereโs ever been a reason to switch to LIV, heโs it!
Good for Scottie! Keep it going man!
Great stuff! Go Scotty!
Enjoy it for two minutes, Scottie.
Scottie is a generational golfer. But the man definitely wants to go home for a nice bowl of plain oatmeal and missionary with his wife.
It's his faith that takes all the pressure off himself to perform. He's not seeking his own glory. Arare, refreshing delightful young man.
Those same sky sports charlatan commentators were actually hoping for Scottie to make more mistakes after his double bogey on the first nine . It was obvious to whom they were supporting ? So much for being neutral eah ? Then there was ' look what I won 'Faldo – portraying arrogance and pretention out of every orifice ! Come on BBC …get your act together and win back the Open coverage ….
He needs some happy pills
I have to give a shout out to Nick Dougherty. Many years ago I watched him so depressed at St Andrews with his Game.. Then he slowly found Sky.. What a turn around he now leads a team of Greats of the Gameโฆ For me him and his good lady are True Champions. Thank you Sky.โค
The most boring unappreciated champion ever. It wouldn't hurt to acknowledge the fans who paid a fortune over four days by waving to them and lifting the trophy. He carried it about like a stuffed teddy, so disrespectful . His management and sponsors need to have a word.
What an absolute dial tone .
Unreal talent .
Boring bastard .
He is so underwhelmed.
"naaaah I'm getting the f outta here" ๐
He doesn't party, that's why he's the best of the best. Scottie knows best.
Pretty cool dude
Why does he look 45 when only 29 ๐
Scottie is way ahead of the pack at the moment. Heโs so much better consistently than Rory and the rest of the top players. Too good at the moment. โณ๏ธ
Superb player – very humble, and totally deserving of his 4th or 7,8,9 Majors he will surely win !
He's already thinking of the next one. Go Scottie!!!!
He never said he doesn't care about winning or not. He says that winning conflicts him greatly. That he DOES want to desperately win. But when he wins, he knows that it's fleeting only. And that makes him realise you have to have something deeper in your life than fleeting "wins". It's a very mature and wise answer that unfortunately is way over the top of most people's comprehension. He's said umpteen times at different moments and again in the presser after this victory that he feels incredibly privileged to be holding the trophy and doing what he does.
Congrats ๐
Just took the fivers off the boys at the Sunday morning medal, quite frankly my dear i don't give a damn ๐๐๐คฃ๐คฃ
Yeah. This kinda points out to me that as soon as hits he grand slam he will retire a hugely wealthy young man. He looks fed up winning mirrored with the stuff he was saying pre this comp. Hes too good and itโs not a challenge.
Why does Scottie get so excited! ๐คช
That hammering by hovland and aberg in the Ryder cup when he revealed a weakness and had a bit of a breakdown was crucial.
That was when his team came up with the "it's not that important" strategy.
2 minutes are up? What was the point..??
I may upset many people with this view……….Obviously He is an incredibly talented golfer not taking that away from him.BUT it is so easy for him to be philosophical when he has 100 million dollars and counting to his name.I will tell you the ACTUAL POINT Mr scheffler IF YOU CANT SEE THE POINT THEN DO NOT BOTHER ENTERING!!There are so many journeymen pros out there eaking a living on the european and pga tours desperate for a win or a top ten finish.missing the cut back home on sunday night one day at home on monday with their families back on a plane on tuesday to any far flung parts of this planet ONLY to miss the cut again having to pay the caddy the flights the accomodation and would gladly give ANYTHING for a win………..THAT IS THE ACTUAL POINT!!You are lucky to be in your position but just remember your peers and be thankful for what you have.WHAT IS THE POINT INDEED!!I REALLY HOPE YOU READ THIS.
90 million in prize money won in 5 years on Tour. Not one bit of it seems to have changed him.
Great champion, well deserved and earned. A good golf ambassador and representative.
Better to watch paint dry, it be more interesting ๐
I hope it only lasts two minutes, you absolute KHUNT.
