What happened to Nike golf clubs? #golfgear #golf #nike #nikegolf #tigerwoods

Nike once dominated the golf equipment world, but now their clubs are collector’s items. So, where did it all go wrong? It all started in 1996 when Nike signed Tiger Woods for $40 million. They didn’t even make clubs yet, but they dominated golf marketing from day one. By 2002, they launched their first line of clubs, including the Nike Forged Blades and Pro Combo irons. They got early praise and Tiger switched to a full Nike bag. Over the next decade, Nike expanded fast. They dropped iconic clubs like the VRS Covert and the Method Putters, signing huge names like Rory Mroy and Michelle Wi. But in the mid2010s, it started to unravel. Sales fell off as Tiger Mania shrunk with critics saying Nike clubs were all hype, no innovation. They couldn’t compete with companies like Titalist, Tailor Made, or Callaway. In 2016, Nike announced they were done. No more clubs, no more balls, no more bags. Instead, they shifted their entire focus to apparel and footwear where they still dominate. You’ll see players like Scotty Sheffller, Rory Mroy, and Nelly Corda in Nike gear. So, while Nike lost the equipment war, they still own the look. Let us know which Nike gear you missed the most, and be sure to like and follow for more.

  1. when the Covert came out, i was practicing at the local college golf course / practice facility and several of the guys on the team had the Covert.. It was all the rage back then

  2. The biggest golf club and accessories manufacturer is Callaway and has been for eons. Closely followed by Taylormade, then Acushnet (Titliest, FJ etc) then Srixon, Wilson. Nike for golf clubs would have probably been last. Clothing and footwear they are Number 1

  3. Whoever the woman is on the cover of that magazine with Tiger is so dam hot 🥵 is that his wife? Why tf would he cheat on her??

  4. Would never wear Nike in public and only in private if it was free. Ethically, they are an atrocious abomination of a company. IYKYK
    😊

  5. Tiger never actually hit a Nike club. His clubs were just stamped to look like Nike. Tiger won a big majority of his titles with irons made by Muira which were stamped Nike or Titleist.

  6. i had a set of nike irons they were just callaway knockoffs decent clubs for the price i couldn't afford a set of nice callaway.

  7. If Nike made vice style budget balls and bags they’d kill. I loved Nike equipment cuz they had so much personality. I only recently exchanged my covert for a sim and I was tempted to go to the vapor

  8. Tiger having the scandals, and injuries effectively finished Nike Golf equipment. Plus, the clubs were only average, but the Tour Accuracy golf balls were awesome
