have you ever heard the term ready golf or maybe you’ve been out on the course and your buddies say hey let’s play Ready golf but you’re a beginner you’re not really sure what that means and you’re questioning the legality of ready golf in your state well let me tell you something ready golf is a thing and in this video I’m going to explain exactly what ready golf is so that you can be prepared the next time you’re out on the golf course now my friends golf is a game of etiquette much like tennis accept way cooler part of this etiquette deals with pace of play now pace of play basically states that you need to play your round of golf at a clip not hitting into the group in front of you or holding up the group behind you now in theory this makes perfect sense but in reality doesn’t always work out that way especially if you’re a beginner golfer which there’s no shame in being a beginner golfer we all start somewhere when we’re learning the sport but ready golf can really help you with pace of play especially if you’re new to the game so there are a few rules of ready golf number one is to basically be ready to hit your golf shot at any given moment now let me expand on this cuz that can seem a little intimidating let’s just say that you and your three buddies have just teed off on the first hole now you all drove mostly the same distance give or take a few yards now the traditional rules of golf would say one of your buddies who hit the shortest drive would hit his shot first however ready golf says whoever arrives at their ball first can go ahead and hit if they’re ready now there are a few safety concerns that you need to think about with this first rule if you are way ahead of your playing Partners let’s say you outd drove them by 15 or 20 yards cards you don’t want to head up to your ball and try to hit that shot before they hit theirs pull off to the side let them hit their shots move forward if you guys in the group are mostly closely together maybe you’re separated by three or four yards five yards maybe and you’re not directly in front of each other and you’re ready to go ahead and hit your shot do so you don’t have to wait on the guy that’s furthest away if he’s just getting to his ball and trying to make his Club selection you’re ready go ahead and hit it’s okay that’s ready golf that’s acceptable now the second rule of ready golf is to limit your practice swings and I get it a beginner golfer I completely understand you wanting to take some practice swings at your ball and you can take one or two but three four that’s just too much okay it takes too long and it holds up the golfers behind you take a practice swing or two get the nerves out and go ahead and hit the ball now the third rule of ready golf deals with green etiquette for ready golf so let’s just say you hit your approach shot and you landed on the green good job you but your buddy Bob is in the bunker now let’s say you arrive to the green first before Bob gets up to the bunker shot do not putt let Bob go ahead and hit his bunker shot up on the Green Let’s just say Bob hits his shot on the green and he’s actually further away than you are while Bob is raking the bunker go ahead and make your putt it’s okay that’s ready golf as long as your putt does not interfere with Bob’s line like you’re going to step or walk in his golf line from his ball to the hole then you’re good to putt if you’re on the green and waiting for some of your buddies to putt go ahead and be reading your putt okay don’t wait for them to finish their putt then read your Putt and then make your putt that’s not ready golf that’s going to hold people up behind you little things like this will help speed up the game of golf another rule of ready golf is if you’re the first person to putt out okay let’s say Bob’s made his bunker shot you just drain a 20-footer awesome then you’re going to be the one who places the flag back in the hole after your other three buddies hit they all finish and Putt out you go ahead you’ve got the flag ready to roll you can pop it back in the hole and everybody’s walking off the green with their equipment now ready golf continues once you reach the next tea box with this one exception let’s say one of your buddies made a birdie or an eagle in that case even if you’re the first person at the tea box that person that made the birdie or the eagle should go first they need to celebrate their Great Golf and let them tea off first and give them what we call honors other than that if you all are scoring par or bogey or similar then just whoever reaches the tea box first go ahead and tea up the ball and hit that bad boy to the Moon that way you’re keeping the pace of play going and you’re not waiting and looking around to find out who’s going to hop on the tea box and actually hit guys don’t be afraid to play Ready golf this is good for the sport it should not take you more than at Max on a Saturday when it’s a busy course 4 and 1/2 hours to play 18 holes of golf with you and three of your buddies if you guys are new to golf you might like this video right here go ahead check it out
