Young McIlroy gushes about Tony Finau’s family in resurfaced video
[Music] a unique aspect of the Junior riter Cup is the friendships that are made between the competitors of opposite sides but one such relationship between competitors in the 2004 Junior Rider cup was cultivated long before those matches took place on the newspaper it showed back in Utah all the pairings and who’s on each team and I looked at Rory’s name and I said Rory maoy you know that’s that’s a good friend of mine I was telling my parents and and they were like oh yeah I remember Rory Ireland’s Rory maoy had previously traveled to the United States One Summer to play in several junior tournaments part of his time abroad he stayed with the family of Tony Fina it was really fun H they’re a really fun family and I had a really good experience with them that summer I couldn’t wait to see him and right when I saw him uh up at the hotel I was hugging him and just we were having a good time we haven’t seen each other for two or 3 years as well it’s h it’s pretty special that we’re both here this week it’s a great experience to see him and to compete with him

Tony Finau is the golfer the PGA has been looking for but hasn't fully embraced. His story is incredible, and it's a shame that we knew about Rory McIlroy before Tony became a household name. I hope Tony continues to excel in his golf game, and I want him to know that I am so envious of the love and connection within his family. Not everyone has the opportunity to experience such a tight-knit family or understand the importance of legacy. I am genuinely happy for you and your family, Tony. We can only hope to emulate what you have.
