Kai Trump shares a special connection with her grandfather, U.S. President Donald Trump, through their mutual passion for tennis and golf, and wife Melania recently issued a three-word response to his sporting obsessions.
The 18 year old is gearing up for college after securing a golf scholarship to the University of Miami, though she won’t begin her studies until 2026. As the daughter of Donald Jr. and his former wife Vanessa, who is currently in a relationship with Tiger Woods, Kai proudly represents Callaway Next, which bills itself as “the next generation of Callaway Tour Pros.”
She’s sharpened her skills across President Trump’s extensive network of golf courses. Kai recently landed her inaugural NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deal through a collaboration with energy drink company Accelerator Active Energy.
The young athlete is already capitalizing on her growing fame by partnering with the brand famous for establishing The Livvy Fund alongside former LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne to champion women’s collegiate athletes.
Kai, who delivered a speech at the 2024 RNC in Milwaukee, undoubtedly stands as the most accomplished golfer within the Trump dynasty. Yet golf isn’t her sole athletic interest—it presents another avenue for bonding with her grandfather.
Although Kai doesn’t share Trump’s enthusiasm for football, they find common ground in their appreciation for sports beyond the golf course. In a recent interview with FOX News Digital earlier this month, Kai disclosed her love for tennis following Wimbledon’s conclusion and with the U.S. Open approaching later this month.
Kai enthusiastically shared, “We have watched a lot of tennis together,” expressing her deep affection for the sport. “I love tennis. I grew up actually playing tennis when I was 2 years old, just like golf. So, I started with tennis and golf.”
She fondly recalled their shared moments, saying, “We enjoy watching that together, especially like Wimbledon. I know it was yesterday, but we enjoy doing that together.”
Yet, it’s on the golf course where their bond truly flourishes. She continued, “Me and him are very close, and we bond over golf. So, he influenced me a lot with golf, especially when I was talking about schools and colleges.”

“He loved that I was going to Miami because Trump Doral was right there as well, so he’s influenced me a lot with golf.”
With Donald Trump owning 15 courses globally, including 11 in the United States, Kai has had the privilege of honing her skills on these prestigious greens, eyeing a future in professional golf.
“I was very, very lucky, and I’m obviously very thankful for all the resources I had,” the young golfer acknowledged. “Obviously, I used those resources to develop into a great golfer now. But I’m very lucky because not many people have those opportunities growing up.”
Despite her youth, Kai’s achievements are already noteworthy. Boasting a longest drive of 275 yards, she surpasses all but 14 players on the LPGA’s average in 2023.
