After serving a two-year hitch in the Army Air Forces, Hogan relaunched his career in 1945. The following year, he again was the top money winner of all the pros, having pocketed some $37,000 in purses. But 1948 was to prove to be Little Ben’s most glorious year in golf. He blazed his way to three major golfing titles, the first man in 26 years to perform that feat. He put the PGA at St. Lewis in his hip pocket as he battled the determined Willie Teresa to the final green and victory. This in addition to capturing the National Open and the Western Open. Once more, Ben Hogan topped the field of money winners with a total this time of some $32,000.
