The long-awaited sequel to Adam Sandler’s wildly popular golf-centered comedy “Happy Gilmore” released last week to much fanfare, 29 years after the original movie was released.
The sequel, “Happy Gilmore 2,” released straight to Netflix and featured a wild “where’s Waldo?” of celebrity appearances, including a myriad of cameos from current golf pros and former PGA Tour legends.
And Florida is a golf hub, with its weather and countless golf courses attracting many pros throughout the years.
Here’s a list of all the golf pros we spotted in the movie who have strong ties to the Sunshine State and where you can stream both “Happy Gilmore” movies with Adam Sandler.
Who was cast in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ movie on Netflix? Famous golfers make appearances
The “Happy Gilmore” sequel cameos were a “who’s who” of pop culture in golf, leaving virtually no stone unturned. Floridians Marcello Hernandez of “Saturday Night Live,” influencer Alix Earle, Bad Bunny, and many other celebrities with Florida connections made appearances.
But the professional golfer cameos took the cake. And nearly all of them have strong ties to Florida, since the state attracts many former and current golf pros.
Here’s a list of famous golfers with ties to Florida that had cameos in Adam Sandler’s Netflix film “Happy Gilmore 2”:
John Daly: In the movie, the golf legend plays a fictionalized version of himself, who lives in Happy’s garage, helps “supervise” Happy’s grown children and gladly helps him get rid of his booze.In real life, Daly lives in Arkansas, but he did own a Florida home in Clearwater. Unfortunately, he confirmed in October 2024 that he lost his home to Hurricane Helene, which hit Florida as a Category 4 storm on Sept. 26, 2024.Nelly Korda: In the movie, Korda plays one of the doctors on the parole board at the mental hospital where Shooter McGavin (actor Christopher MacDonald) is being held and seeking release.Nancy Lopez: In the movie, Lopez, like Korda, also plays one of the doctors on Shooter’s parole board.Fred Couples: In the movie, Couples plays himself.In real life, Couples is a PGA Tour player with 15 tour wins and one Masters win under his belt. He doesn’t currently live in Florida, but he once lived in the West Palm Beach area.Jack Nicklaus: In the movie, Nicklaus plays himself.In real life, Nicklaus is widely considered the greatest golfer of all time. In his lengthy professional golf career, which started in 1961 and ended in 2005, he collected 73 PGA Tour wins and became a six-time Masters Tournament winner. The Ohio-born golf legend now calls North Palm Beach, Florida, home and has major influence in Palm Beach County, co-designing several golf courses there and even having a road named after him. He is also one of only four people to be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Congressional Gold Medal and Lincoln Medal, according to the Palm Beach Post.Corey Pavin: In the movie, Pavin plays himself.In real life, Pavin is a former PGA Tour player with 15 tour wins under his belt.
