We hope that you have been enjoying a memorable summer of golf. You may have begun to notice that the nights are starting to draw back in, meaning that, while there are a significant number of weeks to go, we have slowly passed the peak of the season and that the prospect of autumn isn’t a million miles away.

It’s probably a fitting moment to reflect. Has your campaign thus far met or surpassed your expectations? Have you played a sufficient number of rounds and visited several courses for the first time?

Back in June, we surveyed 1,200 keen golfers to gain an understanding of their playing habits and their ambitions for the season.

Let’s take a look at what they said, and you can then discover just how you compare with the average golfer to see if your 2025 has been even more memorable than the norm.

Have You Played More Golf in 2025?

How Has Your Golf Season Been

Think of how many rounds you have ticked off this year compared to last – are you set to surpass that quantity? Unsurprisingly, the overwhelming majority of golfers wanted to get out onto the course more frequently this season, with 60% of golfers under the age of 55 planning to play more in 2025.

Even older players were of similar thinking, as 56% of those aged between 55 and 64 expected to play more often, with 38% of golfers over 65 planning to notch up a greater number of rounds this summer.

If you have fallen behind those targets, then there is still time for you to catch up.

Did You Visit a New Golf Course For The First Time?

Playing more often is a dream for most golfers (who really wants to play less?), but spreading those experiences across a greater number of courses is even better.

Have you played a layout for the first time this year? 100% of those golfers we surveyed under the age of 55 played a new course each season, with the total being 98% of those aged between 55 and 64 and 96% of those aged over 65, meaning that golfers relish the opportunity to uncover somewhere new.

If you haven’t yet played a course for the first time in 2025, then you are falling behind the majority.

Have You Experienced a Greater Number of Golf Courses This Season?

But perhaps you can beat them when it comes to a total number of courses visited.

74% of golfers aged under 55 played at least five tracks each year, with an impressive 24% of them playing ten or more.

The numbers are almost identical for golfers aged over 65, but 28% of them tick off a minimum of ten courses a season, but it’s the middle group (aged between 55 and 64) who lead the pack as 78% of them play at least five different courses a season, with 29% of them surpassing ten.

It’s fair to say that our audience are passionate golfers who likely play more than average, but if you can compete with those numbers, then we reckon that means you have put together a worthy golf season.

Playing more often and ticking off a large group of courses is the key to golfing fulfillment – and improving your game isn’t shabby either.

If you have accomplished that already, it’s been a great year, but if you’ve fallen a little short, there is still more than enough time to make this an unforgettable golf summer.
