She won Thursday at Rochester Place with a 72 and Wednesday at Erie Shores with a 74.

Maple City’s Hannah Butzer was third Thursday with a 78 and Ridgetown’s Savana Smith was fourth with an 80. Maple City’s Haylee Crawley was third Wednesday with a 76 and Butzer tied for fourth with a 77.

In the junior boys’ division, Kingsville’s Andrew Baker and Sutton Creek’s Ben Buchner tied for first Thursday with 70 and Maple City’s Heath Boyko was seventh with a 73. Erie Shores’ Nicholas Brophy won Wednesday with a 67, Kameron Kay of Chatham tied for second with a 68 and Maple City’s Rohan Chawla tied for fourth with a 70.

Chawla is third in the overall standings, Kay is fourth and Maple City’s Cash Kiriakopoulos is tied for fifth. Butzer is third overall, Smith is fourth and Crawley is fifth.

Chawla tied for 24th at the Ontario U15 boys’ championship earlier in the week in Bracebridge by shooting 14 over for two days.

Bentley fourth at track nationals

Chatham’s Brooke Bentley, of the London Western Track and Field Club, was fourth in the under-20 women’s shot put at the Canadian championships Thursday in Ottawa.

Bentley threw 12.27 metres to finish 25 centimetres behind bronze medallist Mykayla Scarlett.

Chatham’s Griffin Kalp, of the London Western club, was third in the U20 men’s javelin qualifying with 47.69 metres to advance to Sunday’s final. He was fourth in the U20 men’s discus qualifying with 40.94 metres and didn’t advance to the final.

Chatham’s Ryan Basiaco, of the Windsor Legion Track and Field Club, was 19th in the U20 men’s 400-metre qualifying in 51.09 seconds and 20th in the 800-metre qualifying in 1:59.19. He didn’t advance to the heats in either event.

Carleton scores 10 against champs

Chatham’s Bridget Carleton has scored in double figures in three of her last four games for the WNBA-leading Minnesota Lynx.

Carleton had 10 points and six rebounds in a 100-93 win over the defending champion New York Liberty in a rematch of last year’s WNBA final Wednesday in Minneapolis.

The Lynx (23-5) own a five-game lead over the second-place Liberty (17-9).

The Lynx visit the Las Vegas Aces Saturday and the Seattle Storm Tuesday.

Chatham pads lead in First Division

Alex Bernardi and Giovanni Magliaro each scored twice Thursday in Chatham’s 6-1 win over London Scottish in the Western Ontario Soccer League’s First Division.

Nelson DeKoning and Quinn Bernardi added singles for first-place Chatham (10-2-0) at St. Clair College’s Chatham campus.

Alex Bernardi leads the division with 10 goals and Magliaro is second with eight.

Chatham visits the Norfolk Athletics Friday, Aug. 8, and then hosts Strathroy United FC in the season finale Monday, Aug. 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the college.

Griffith leading at Athletes’ Fuel Cup

Morgan Paine’s two goals led Team Lucarelli past Team Goure 7-3 in Thursday’s early game at the Athletes’ Fuel Cup at Thames Campus Arena. Captain Anthony Lucarelli, player of the game Derek Nevills, Declan Waddick, Brady Robertson and Cam Sherman also scored.

Cam Arquette, Rorey Elson and Brighton Anderson replied for Team Goure.

In the second game, Nevills had a hat trick and player of the game Parker Graham scored twice in Team Griffith’s 11-6 win over Team Goure. Brayden Degelas, Matt Cunningham, Emerson Jackson, Drew Bunda, Brady Gibson and Matt Sparks added singles.

Jimmy Pitblado had a hat trick for Team Goure, and Anderson, Xandre Aitken and Casey Tellier also scored.

On Tuesday, Griffith (2-0) plays Goure (0-3) at 6:30 p.m., then Griffith plays Lucarelli (2-1) at 7:45 p.m.

Ridgetown Royals release schedule

The expansion Ridgetown Royals will play a 24-game regular season in the American Premier Hockey League.

Their season opener is Saturday, Oct. 18, against the Summit City Distillers at East Kent Memorial Arena at 7 p.m.

They’ll also play a home-and-home exhibition series with the Distillers Saturday, Sept. 27, in Ridgetown at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 11, in Fort Wayne, Ind.

The Royals are the only Canadian team in the league, which has franchises in New York, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania as well.

Cougars’ Fraleigh second at nationals

Paisley Fraleigh of the Chatham-Kent Cougars won a silver medal with Team Ontario at the Canadian under-18 women’s tackle football championship.

Alberta beat Ontario 27-19 in overtime in the final in Calgary.

Dresden Raceway finale Monday

Dresden Raceway will celebrate its annual Black Heritage Day during Monday’s season finale.

The 12-race card includes three $25,000 divisions of three-year-old filly pacers in the Ontario Sires Stakes’ Grassroots Series.

Post time is 1 p.m.

Parking and admission are free.

Hodgson collects two shutout wins

Maverick Hodgson had a shutout in both wins by the Chatham under-9 tier 2 boys team last weekend in the Elgin Middlesex District Soccer League.

Max Copeland scored four goals in a 6-0 win over St. Thomas Red, and Jackson Broadbent and Adam Cooper added singles.

Copeland, Cooper and Broadbent netted two apiece and Oliver Wetzel scored one in a 7-0 win over Ingersoll.
