Luis Ortiz, a hard throwing right hander on the mound for the Guardians. Ortiz has been outstanding, especially at home over his six starts. A three, a 4046 Ks of his 14 walks. So what I’m watching for is being able to command the baseball, command the strike zone in the first couple innings because he has a six, a in the first two innings. Brendan Donovan is waiting for the first pitch from Ortiz. Now the pitch, Donovan hits that hard into center, a base hit and Donovan is six out of seven against luis Ortiz. Here’s Mason when the shortstop fouled it, but he was walking off as if he had struck out often, see the batter give himself up in that way and now the Guardians want to know what the deal is here. Stephen Vogt is the manager for Cleveland and he’s on his way out trying to understand what just happened as we take a look on this breaking ball. Oh, he missed it entirely chopper toward the shortstop. Abs, it flips to second for one over the first for two. It’s a double play that worked out even worse for the Cardinals that basketball game 21. The ball don’t, here’s a Burleson his little number toward the third base line or unable to field his position as Burleson reaches on an infield hit. So Ortiz got his feet crossed up there. Here’s Wilson control this ball in the air to right center field easy for Lane Thomas, former Cardinal out there who makes the catch to end the inning. Steven the left fielder. Lane Thomas, the center fielder and Kyle Manzano the first baseman they’re up facing Sonny Gray lines. It right to Contreras at first one away. Lane Thomas fouling out. Here’s kyle Manzo one ball, two strikes. Manzo takes strike three called a 123 1st Fried the d the pitch. David Fry trying to check his swing but he could not. That is strike three in the second strikeout for Sonny Gray tonight. One away here in the second innings is the banner one ball. Two strikes, man takes strike three called that back up breaking ball over the outside corner as Sonny Gray gets his third consecutive strikeout two away, Nolan Jones over his last seven and he swings and misses here as Sonny Gray strikes out the side in the second. We go to the top of the third inning. It is a scoreless game and the Cardinals have now gone 24 innings. I don’t like that scoreless thing. No, let’s stop that right now with victor scott the second and Brendan Donovan there’s a hard hit ball to left field that could be out of here and it is a big fly for Pedro Pa his sixth of the year one, not Cardinals. And they do indeed break their score streak with one swing of the back from their catcher. That pitch is wide and he walked him on four that will bring up the shortstop Mason win hit into a double play his first time up the tapper near the second base back. It is grabbed by Martinez for the force out there on Donovan two outs with Mason win taking over at first. Here’s Alec Burleson gets away from first base and now Mason, we will take off good job by Martinez to go out and get it keeping win to second base on that throwing error by Ortiz, which will be his second error of this game. There’s a drive to right field hit pretty well. Jones goes back to the wall and that ball is gone two homers in this inning for the Cardinals. Alec Burleson has his 10th of the year and it’s three ST Louis. There’s the crooked number we wanted and the Cardinals who had scored in 24 innings have played three here in the third, a great start so far for Sonny Gray 12 in a row set down by Gray to start this game as David Fry begins the bottom of the fifth inning. The DH for the Guardians tonight off the end of his bat shallow right center. Brendan Donovan gets out for it and makes the play out three, two up, two down for the Guardians. And here comes Nolan Jones trying to solve Sonny Gray Jones gets on with two outs here in the fifth inning. It’s the first hit for the Guardians and it breaks that string of 14 in a row sent down by Sonny Gray to start the game out of the stretch. One pitch ends the inning. Gabriel Arias lines out to Arenado. Sonny Gray in Cruz control so far tonight. My goodness, three hits for Cleveland the last two days. 3 to 0. Cardinals sixth inning, Alec Burleson. Burleson gets into one hit it high in the air deep, left center field, Thomas back at the wall and that ball is off the wall. Burleson digs and he makes it standing at second. Burleson has a double to go along with his 10th home run of the year. A ground out a fly out after the lead double by Burleson. So now it’s up to Nolan Arenado the fly ball to right hit pretty well. Nolan Jones backing up, still going to head, it’s off the wall. So Nolan Arenado drives that one out to right to bring home Burleson. It’s an RB I double and attack on run for the Cardinals. They lead it four to nothing for Nolan Arenado. That is career double 3, 99. His 12th of the year Sonny Gray six and five lifetime with a 3.5 , er, a against Cleveland in 19 previous starts. Brilliant tonight. Strike three strikeout number seven for Sony Gray. He’s got twice. Sony Gray hangs that leg and deals a swing and a miss strike three Martinez strikes out. Sonny struck out the side in the second inning and he’s out to do the same thing here in the sixth , but he’ll have to go through another roller from Contreras goes way over but Sonny Gray able to cover the bag and that makes it another clean inning for Sonny Gray and Sonny Gray will work to Lane Thomas. He has faced 19 batters only in this game and has gotten ahead of 17 of them. 17 of 19 1st strikes. That’s right down the middle for strike 3/9 strikeout for strike three called to Manzo that one on the inside corner and that’s the 10th strikeout for Sonny to center field. Sonny Gray has been magnificent tonight. 68 pitches to give seven scoreless innings back to back walks coming with two outs. Arenado hit his 12th double of the year. That’s number 3, 99 in his career lines. This one to left center field. That’s a base hit Contreras rounds third. He heads home heading for third base, his new bar, the second RB I for Nolan Arenado tonight and it’s all Cardinals five, nothing bottom of the eighth here in Cleveland and it is Sonny Gray. Working on a one hitter through seven innings. He has a five nothing lead. He’s only thrown 68 pitches, a fly ball to left field easy for New Bar. Once again, a very quick out for Sonny Gray on two pitches to Schieman inside out swing, backing up Izar an gets in position to throw out Nolan Jones. So two up, two down as Nolan Jones, the only man who has even reached base for Cleveland makes the second out of this eighth inning. Two and two swing and a miss strike three. Sonny Gray with a throwback performance tonight. 11 strikeouts, eight shutout innings and under 80 pitches to boot. What a performance on this Friday night cliff, Sonny Gray, a one hit shutout leads five to nothing. A season high 11 strikeouts has walked a batter 78 pitches through eight innings. It’s been Sonny Gray shows tonight. Naylor the number eight hitter in catcher on the first pitch lines out to Arenado, 79 pitches eight and a third shutout innings here for Sonny Gray. He is retired all but one batter 25 out of 26 and now Martinez with a fly ball to right center. Victor Scott’s racing back onto the track. He makes the catch a fly ball to left field. It’s new backing up. He’s there. Sonny Gray spectacular, nearly perfect a one hitter he allowed one base runner and he goes the distance to shut out the Guardians tonight. 50. The final.

Look. The Guardians got shut out. Again. I have money on them being no hit at least once this season. This is one of the worst hitting teams in baseball. The game was over when it wasc1-0.i don't even think that they're trying anymore.
Sonny threw a Maddux and that makes me so incredibly happy. A single away from a perfect game, no less. One of those career-defining nights for any pitcher.
Best 1 hitter I've ever watched!
Like how Sonny continues to pitch well with the lead. The opposite had been an issue the past two seasons.
This dude kept sticking his hands in his pants and no one said a word they didn’t even ask him to wash his hands and the hitters kept hitting the same way all night
I've always been a huge fan of Gray since he was with Minnesota and you just can see why he's an Ace when he's on.
Sonny Gray what a gem of a performance 💎
thats what happens when a pitcher can actually command where he wants his pitches to go
he was locked in
and his fastball was 92-93
sonny gray just showed that getting ahead in the count, changing speeds and actually commanding your pitches is more important than velocity 🔥
Where is the Sonny Gray 1-hit 89-pitch shutout video?
Great game Cardinals. 👍🏻
Ditch the blue shirts guys.
The Guardians are very bad.
Dude straight up pitched a Maddux and no one is talking about it. Well, I will…
Sonny Gray pitched a Maddux!!
Insane performance by Sonny Gray! Just one hit away from perfection! Let's go, Redbirds!
Go Sonny! Been following him when he played for Oakland. My favorite player.
GRAY!!! MEET MADDUX!!!;
Just Wow!
Without a doubt the best pitching performance in the MLB this year. Go cards!
It's sad watching this Cleveland lineup
Hats off to Sonny… A pitching gem from a past time 🏅
And that's a winner!
It's a sunny day in STL!!
Sonny gray dark horse cy young runner up
Bro St. Louis Cardinals I love them
When Sonny Gray is on, he reminds me of how Chris Carpenter used to pitch. Gray doesn’t have that big 12-6 curve that Carp had. But the way he utilizes his 2 seamer/sinker is similar. 93-94 mph and it cuts across the strike zone at the last second. Can be devastating on lefties, especially when his slider is working. If Gray can continue to pitch like the Cardinals ace going forward with consistency, I like their chances of contending for the playoffs.
Been bizy but that few tweaks he added paid off big time. When I looked at box score an seen 9 pitched. Wow. That pause or tweak in his releases he's on to something even improving his greatness already
Totally not anything on the bill of his hat 😂. What a gem and I love to see my boy Nolan Arenado come through
Ortiz threw this game literally🤣
3:17 is the pitch in question
And come to find Out Ortiz was cheating the whole game look at top of the 3rd inning
Sadly we have Fedde pitching vs the Cubs today 😂
Hey
