All right. Welcome back to Newswire PGA tour. Of course coming to the end of the line here. And let’s get to the very latest Fedex Cup standings on the line as well. Speaking of which, Keith Stewart is here with us to preview the Wyndham Championship. Keith, thanks for coming on the show. Really appreciate it. And look you know, once the majors end, Keith, you know some people you know their PGA interest deviates a little bit. We got football starting and baseball heating up. But I know this is a critical week on the tour. Oh absolutely. You know the PGA tour has we’ve been critical of them in many ways and the way they’ve built this schedule. But the last couple of weeks between the three up in Minnesota and now down at the Wyndham Championship, that we’re going to see the final event of the regular season. These guys are really concerned about these playoff points, and it’s pushed some of these players with some big names, like a guy like Adam Scott, to have to be here this week. And it definitely adds some engagement to the event at the Wyndham. And you know what? There was a lot of times where a lot of people weren’t watching the Wyndham looking for the top 125 cut off, and the playoffs were all kind of set and everything, but now it actually means something. And, you know, kudos to the PGA tour for creating something that entertains us. Yeah definitely. So and even though the big names are not participating, most of them in this tournament this week at the Wyndham, as you mentioned, a lot on the line. But in a tournament like this, anything goes. And as you can see, Keith, the odds are telling us that could be the case. You got a player potentially trying to defend his championship who’s one of the favorites at 25 to 1. And Aaron Ray, we got Fitzpatrick who of course has had a nice year. Ben Griffin who’s had a fantastic year, Keegan Bradley, Robert McIntyre and others involved in this. But actually none of the very big names participating. So what do you make of the field. And then we’ll get to the course. Well, so much of this has to do with the storylines that are very current in the pop culture of golf right now. First and foremost, the top 70 getting to the playoffs. So anybody that’s, you know, higher than 65 and you know and beyond. And right there in the early 70s I mean these guys they have to make the cut on Friday. And then they have to play well through the weekend. You know there’s a lot of drama to play out there. Then there’s the Ryder Cup consideration. Look at a lot of the guys that are on the top of that list Keegan Bradley, Ben Griffin, Matt Fitzpatrick. All these guys need great weeks. We’ve seen what Chris has been up to over the last couple of weeks trying to stake his claim. They’re getting themselves prepared for the playoffs and beyond, but these guys need to make runs in order to solidify those positions for Bethpage. So that just adds another layer to this onion, you know what I mean? And when the whole thing unfolds this weekend down at Wyndham, we’re going to have soft conditions. It’s going to be very, very easy to score for these guys. The average winning score there over the last decade is about 20 under par. Vegas set the over under number for the final score at 20.5. We expect birdies. We expect wall to wall Bermuda grass. And the guys that are good in the southeast are going to stand out. Craig. Yeah, I think that’s really the key there with that. Now as far as the Fedex Cup, Scottie Scheffler is the current favorite. That should be no surprise with his odds at plus 215. I’ll just run them down for you real quick. Rory is plus 550. Fleetwood 14 to 1. Xander 15 to 1 as well. But we’ve seen this thing go sideways in the past. I mean, I don’t, you know, look sideways and Scottie Scheffler are not two words that we should probably ever put together. But you know, anything can happen down the stretch. Craig, I think it’s really important to note that the PGA tour has abandoned the starting strokes for the Tour Championship. So if you’re one of those top 70 guys that gets in and gets hot, and we’ve seen this year after year and you’re kind of alluding to it there, the guys win multiple playoff events and go on a run and win this Fedex Cup. Whoever gets in to the Tour Championship at Eastlake, those top 30 guys, if you win that week, you win the Fedex Cup. You get all the cash, you get all the accolades, you get everything you need, right? So like, yes, Scottie is the prohibitive favorite, but this thing is a lot more wide open than it has been in the past couple of years when we’ve had those starting strokes. And I think we have three really interesting ball striking venues. I mean, the first one, we’re very familiar with TPC Southwind there in Memphis, where they have the Saint Jude, but then the next week the BMW loves to rotate. Last year we were in Denver. This year we’re in Maryland at Caves Valley. That’s that famous Cantlay DeChambeau about ten years ago playoff. That was absolutely spectacular. And then of course we go back to Atlanta and the redone Eastlake. I mean there’s a lot to play for. I, I would be very hard pressed to bet anything about the end of the Fedex Cup going in right now. Yeah. No, I think so. And by the way, when you look back before we, you know, I want to have a little fun with you here at the end. But before we do that, when you look back at all of the majors this season and I know we still have some time to go here, does it feel like Scottie Scheffler was the dominant story of the season? I mean J.J. Spaun shot to me. He you know, will live forever. There were some really great moments on the tour this year, but was it simply Scottie winning as much as he did? Is that really the story at the end? Well, we all have a recency bias. What Rory McIlroy did at Augusta was career changing. It was life changing. We saw his emotional outpouring on the 18th green. Let’s not forget that storyline. But Scott is going to be the player of the year. He’s got two majors, he’s got a bunch of wins. He’s probably going to win again. He’s probably well, you just said he’s the favorite to win the Fedex Cup. So at this point, Scottie and I’ve said this a couple times on the grid where Scottie is at that point now where he’s getting past Rory and Brooks as like the best of his generation, he’s moving towards that status of like, can I get to like 40, 50 wins? Can I get to like 6 or 7 majors? And I think we’re all excited to see what he can do from here. But it’s tough to say he’s not the story of the year for 2025. Yeah, and definitely a little self-deprecating too, as we saw in Happy Gilmore two. Keith I mean, I mean, that was, you know, an ending, the movie basically coming back. I don’t want to ruin the movie here. I actually just did here a little bit. But spoiler alert, for anyone who hasn’t seen Happy Gilmore two, Keith and I are going to talk about it here a little bit. I thought it was extremely well done. I thought it was fun. My son, who really just doesn’t love movies, was locked in and watching because he does love golf. And there’s people critical of this movie. I’m not sure how I thought it was exactly what I wanted to see going in, and I thought it was really fun. In the end, Craig, you and I are in lockstep then on this. I mean, there’s three things that really stuck out to me. Number one is that the players had personalities. I mean, I’m out there on the tour 20 plus weeks a year, 24 weeks a year, and I see these guys in the press room and they don’t really have a lot to say. That’s all that engaging, and I get that they’re under the microscope, but in this movie they really put themselves out there. And I think a lot of that had to do with the fact that Adam Sandler were really leading the charge, getting, you know, some of these superstars and the cameos that are in this. I won’t give any of them away. But man, they’re absolutely spectacular. That scene at the Tour Championship dinner is unbelievable. And then, you know, of course, you know, them mocking the current state of golf to me really just showed why it wasn’t really a sequel. It just stands out as something that was a great piece of pop culture I couldn’t recommend to people, especially if they love golf, to go see it. Yeah, and Scottie Scheffler fans will enjoy too. Keith, thanks again for coming
