Browns quarterback situation has
 been quite the topic of
conversation and, dare I say, scrutiny over the past few. I’m
not going to say months. I’m
going to put years on it, and it’s going to be plural. From
the signing of Deshaun Watson to
drafting both Dillon Gabriel and Chandler Sanders back in late
 April. Yesterday, Browns owner
Jimmy Haslam shed light on this particular group of
 quarterbacks. I think it’s
premature. I don’t think anything has changed. On the
 Deshaun situation since we were
together in March. I will say this, he’s working hard on his
rehab and that’s our focus is to
get him well and healthy and then we’ll make decisions after
that. We have a good process
okay. And if you’d have told me let’s see. We picked him on
 Saturday right Friday night
driving home. You all are going to pick charger I would say
that’s not happening. But we had
a conversation early that morning and then we had a
 conversation later that day. I
think we had the right people involved in the conversation. At
the end of the day, that’s
Andrew Berry’s call. Andrew made the call to pick charger, just
like who’s going to start or
what play we’re going to call is Kevin’s call. But that’s that’s
Andrew’s call. He made the call.
I mean, that’s a good breath of confidence to say that is the
GM’s call. It’s like when the
producers tell me, you know what, we’re going to make this
Kyle’s call on where we’re going
to go. In this particular conversation about the Cleveland
 Browns this morning. Kyle,
please direct us. Jimmy Haslam just has that father of the
bride type energy, like at the
wedding reception when he’s up giving the toast and just goes
and goes and goes and goes. And
I’m watching this and I’m trying to dissect all of it, and I’m
 trying to think something we
would do here on Good Morning Football would be like, what is
 this team’s slogan for 2025?
Like, what would they what would be their motto like on the media
 guide? And for the Cleveland
Browns, it’s just the 2025 Cleveland Browns. We have Myles
 Garrett like that’s that’s it.
It’s just that’s they have Myles Garrett and they have a good
 coach. And everything else is
like I don’t know what we’re doing here. How do I dissect
 this. Mr. Haslam talked about
Deshaun Watson and he’s working his way through this. And look
at that. Just a matter of months
ago. He’s talked about Deshaun Watson and saying quote we took
a big swing and a miss with
Deshaun Watson. We thought we had a quarterback and we didn’t.
 That’s all past tense. That’s
like he’s speaking like it’s over. He’s completely disavowing
it in terms of like we’re done
with it. It’s over. It’s like it never happened. He also said
we’ve got to dig ourselves out
of that hole. All right. So now there’s this who did what in
 terms of who drafted cheddar.
And he says, oh no, no, that’s not going to happen when we talk
 Friday night. So it’s basically
saying I didn’t want to draft cheddar. Trust me. You think I
did I didn’t I let the GM do
that. So now the franchise quarterback is disavowed. The
 rookie quarterback is that’s not
going to happen. I’m going to do the Browns fans a favor and not
 even mention the rookie running
back, because that’s completely unsavory and terrible. But they
do have Myles Garrett and they
do have Kevin Stefanski. I we have had questions about this
team for months. There he is. He
looks great. Just put that on the scoreboard put that in the
 standings. Because they do have
him and they paid everything not nailed down to keep him. I don’t
know where this team is headed.
I know they have a coach and a pass rusher. They don’t have a
 running back. They don’t really
have any clarity on quarterback. It’s hope springs eternal in
this time of year. And let’s go
and let’s win. I just don’t know where we’re going. And normally
guys when the owner comes in
it’s to shed clarity and to set the map for the season. And
 you’re supposed to walk away
from that session feeling like, okay, all right. We can do I
 don’t know. I know they have a
good pass rush and a good coach. That’s the only answer to any
question I know about this team.
Yeah, KB, I don’t know. I don’t know if they even know. And I
 watched that whole 25 minute
spiel like it was a 25 minute conference. He stood up there
 and answered for like 22
minutes. Out of the 25 minutes he talked, the thing that really
stood out to me was after he
just talked about, you know, that that wasn’t my call. I
didn’t do it. They asked him.
Another reporter asked him. He’s like, did you sign off on the
 Mason Graham trade? He’s like,
oh yeah, I signed off on that. So to me I’m looking at it like,
so you signed off on everything
else. You talked about Deshaun Watson thing that you signed
off. But on this certain you
didn’t sign off on it you know. So to CB’s point I don’t even
know if they know what they’re
doing. And they you know this there are teams in this league
that you look at and it’s like
there’s a reason why we are always talking about you at this
time of the year. There’s a
reason why we’re always calling your team at this portion of the
 draft is because there are
certain things that are done that equate to that. So for, for
 Mr. Haslam, I, I don’t know
where to go with that. You know, I will say this like I applaud
 shudder like everything out of
camp has been he’s been keeping his head down. He’s been humble.
A reporter asked him about him
not taking first team reps, and his response was as classy as
you can make it. And so I, I
didn’t really follow shudder in college and all of that.
 Obviously I’ve heard everything,
but you also hear the bad things that he’s this and he thinks
 he’s that. But everything that
he’s he’s done in training camp so far in minicamp, I think he’s
handled it in a very mature way.
So shout out to shudder for that. But the way that Mr.
Haslam kind of went about this
whole thing, Isaiah I’m just like, I’m kind of like KB is
 like, I don’t know where they’re
going. And honestly, I don’t know if they know where they’re
 going. Words were said.
Questions didn’t seem to be answered. I guess it’s almost
like it stirred it up even more.
I feel as if he was listening to Michael Jackson before that.
 Before that interview? Yeah,
yeah, just a little smooth criminal because he was doing a
 little bit of moonwalking in
regards to that. Those questions. Listen, as an owner,
you have to own what takes place
within your organization. You cannot claim certain
 transactions and then deflect to
your GM on others. That’s not how it works. That’s not that’s
 not owning the situation. You
gave over a quarter billion dollars to one of your players.
I’m gonna run that back a
quarter billion dollars to one of your players guaranteed in
his pocket. And then you go out
there and say, yeah, that’s pretty much was a mistake. So to
follow up that mistake, you go
out and you get four quarterbacks, four to make up
for that one mistake. You get
Joe Flacco who’s going to be your starter, who you have the
least invested into. Then you go
out there and you trade and you get a Kenny Pickett. You trade
equity and get a Kenny Pickett
and a player, and then you go draft two quarterbacks that both
have are in a conversation with
a lot of other teams for being potential starters. So you find
 yourself in a situation where
you’re going to have to trade away somebody that you’ve
 invested into, and the person
that you’ve had the least invested into is your starter,
and the person that you paid a
quarter billion dollars to, you’ve already disowned. Yeah,
you know what you’re doing. I
guess it’s really it’s a good way to explain it, Isaiah,
because the way Manti says, I
have such respect for what he has done, why does it make me
feel this like odd pity and
respect for Joe Flacco at this point? Like these. All these
 conversations go on about every
other person in the room, except for the guy that’s most likely
going to start for you week one.
Kyle, are we at a point where now we just hold the utmost
 respect for Flacco in this
scenario that we always say, like, who would sign up for
that? Flacco did. He went there
and opted into this scenario. What does that make you feel
about Joe Flacco? I mean, it’s
just like your classic old pro. And I imagine there’s certain
 people with the Browns, Flacco,
Stefanski for sure. They must just be like I’m just focused on
 football. I can’t the upstairs
the owner’s office. I just have to put a product on the field
right now. And all right. So
let’s think about this. Let’s let’s try to make it about the
 football that they won three
games last year. And they had a very, very interesting draft in
 so many different regards. I
just you know we talked a lot yesterday about the Jets about
culture and identity. And I just
I’m trying hard to grasp what the identity is of the Cleveland
 Browns again. Other than they
have a really good pass rusher. Stefanski knows offense cold.
What is the what is the plan
like week one. They go against the Bengals who they’re going to
light it up. The Bengals for all
their faults they’re going to score points. And you’re just
coming out here. And you look at
the depth chart. And the Browns depth chart. Looks like when
you’re all your fantasy guys are
on bye and you’re on the waiver wires and you’re like, oh, I
guess I’ll go with him for a
plug and play. But these are their starters, so I don’t want
 to disrespect them across the
board. It’s very it’s preseason. We haven’t even had a preseason
 game yet and crazy things
happen. But if I looked at the 32 teams there’s really only a
couple out of 32. We’re never
mind if they’ll be good or bad. I don’t really know what the
plan is like. I’m not totally
sure what Kellen Moore is cooking up there in New Orleans,
but that’s a brand new head
coach and a brand new thing. The Cleveland Browns are not new.
They have the old owner, old
coach, old players, everything. And I still don’t know, bring it
full circle on Jimmy Haslam. The
thing with him trying to draft schedule or not started from
this insinuation and talk in the
media that Jimmy called that one in to the Browns, this this
 suggestion that he made that
pick and he told everyone at the Cleveland Browns, I want to get
cheddar. So he is coming out and
saying, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. That is not the case. If
 anything, if you would have
asked me, I would have said, no way. That’s not going to happen.
 So he’s completely on the
opposite side. I just we’re going to be playing football
 games soon, and all this
offseason draft stuff is not going to matter. And when we do,
 when the Cleveland Browns take
the field week one Jimmy I guess it’s going to be Flacco. But I
 still don’t know. And I don’t I
just I hate to say a whole segment of I don’t know. But I
dare anybody out there in media.
In fact, even with the Browns to say I do know to some of these
 questions, Kyle, it’s a good
point. But you mentioned a pass rusher, the Bengals
 technically do, but he hasn’t
been seen and it’s been contentious all summer long. NFL
 Network Insider Ian Rapoport is
reporting now that Bengals defensive end the NFL’s sack
 leader last season, Trey
Hendrickson plans to report to Bengals camp today to be with
 the team making his holdout,
officially switching the stance to a hold in Manti. Your
reaction? With no deal done yet,
Hendrickson intends to show up as the two sides continue to
work. At this. I’m not sure. I
think Shemar Stewart, that signing I think may have may
have enticed trader to pop up.
He said, okay, you just signed your first round pick that he’s
been unsigned all the way to
that moment. Maybe you can sign me now. So I think this is
 probably one of those things,
Isaiah, where you’re looking at, if I’m Trey, I’m like, okay,
 there’s some momentum. There’s
talks about they’re actually signing defensive players. So
let me get over there. Let me
remind them who I am. Let me show them and remind them that I
am one of the leaders on this
team and that you need me. And no matter how much you pay this
rookie, you still have to have
some of the opposite of him in myself, who led the league in
sacks last year and had 17.5
again the last year, that I’m the guy you need to pay. So I
 think that’s probably what he’s
trying to do. Yeah, that’s one way to look at it. I look at it
as like a scene from Fast and
Furious where you got the two cars kind of facing each other,
and they have the showdown. They
start driving towards each other and one of them kind of peels
 off. I think that’s Trey
Hendrickson right now. I think his agent probably called him.
He was like, hey man, how much
how much money have we been fighting so far? He’s like, oh,
 300,000. He’s like $300,000. Oh
yeah, I’m going to show up. I’m gonna go and get up in there
real quick. I can do a hold in
and not get my engine exactly $50,000 a day. Yeah, $300,000
out of his pocket after missing
his first six days of camp. I’ll show up. You know what I’m
 saying? Marshawn Lynch say I’m
just here so I don’t get fined. Yeah, that’s exactly what Trey
 Hendrickson is doing. They need
that, dude. They need to sign him. They signed Stewart. This
deal needs to get done. They
know that. Hopefully this this pushes that forward. Yeah.
Listen three reasons why you do
it one the money obviously two. Trey Hendrickson’s like a
lunchpail type of guy. He wants
to be around. He likes to be with the guys. He likes to show
 his face. I think that’s
important to him. But also, guys, this is this is a good
strategy in terms of the media.
When the player is there standing on the sideline and you
can have video of him and you do
that shot where you pan from him to the head coach, from him to
 ownership, that’s very
compelling. And avenues like ours, you can see him and it’s
 on sight unseen. He’s off
training somewhere in Florida or wherever. You don’t talk about
it as much. It’s very similar to
if you have a, a blowup with, with your wife or husband, and
you got to just knock down, drag
out when you’re sitting there watching TV, if they just leave
and they’re like, I’m out of
here, out of sight, out of mind. If they’re sitting on the other
end of the couch next to you
sighing, and you feel the tension and you feel the
 presence, I think you’re more
inspired to resolve it, to turn and be like, all right, I’m
 sorry. Let’s make amends. Trey
and the Bengals are now sitting on opposite sides of the couch,
 looking at their phone and
sighing, and that is much more difficult to deal with than if
they just get the car and drive
off. Yeah, they’re looking and they’re like this. Yeah, but
what if you’re sitting there and
the spouse is like, I’m going to go get something to drink. Do
 you want something? It’s like,
that’s the first thing you’re going to say to me, like, where
are we? How do we start this? We
don’t do that. That’s an olive branch. That’s an olive branch.
That’s that’s what they need. We
say, you want some popcorn? Oh, season. Whiteboard Wednesday. We
 are looking at the regular
season schedule. Yes, it’s making me feel festive. Bars.
 First up, Jets defensive end
Will McDonald was available to the media. Will McDonald the
fourth. Excuse me. And he’s now
a former teammate of Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers in New York
 last year McDonald still with
the Jets. But now that Rodgers is a Steeler, Will McDonald, the
 fourth, has bulked up this
offseason and is hoping to get his hands on the quarterback
when they play each other. Week
one A lot of protein, no food, carbs and all of that. Just
pounding food about six meals a
day. It’s just continuing. It’s just just grub on, you know, all
of that type of stuff. You know,
eventually just get my weight up, my power, strength. I was
able to gain a couple pounds
from doing that. And now, you know, now I’m out here balling.
And so, you know, that’s what
that’s what I’m gonna keep doing. I always wanted to, you
know, sack Rodgers. I’m sure he
already knows. You know what I’m about. So I’m sure he’s going to
have his head on his shoulders.
You know obviously he’s a vet, so I’m sure he got a couple
 tricks up his sleeve. I’m
supposed to focus on week one for this question, but the only
number I heard there was six
meals a day for Will McDonald. The fourth. That’s pretty epic.
 Well done. Will, good offseason
for you. Let’s take a gander at week one at Steelers. Jets. It’s
a whole lineup of games. Is
there a matchup Mance I that you would like to see most that you
 were looking forward to? It’s
going to be the most epic matchup. Why? Because it’s the
first game of the season. And
 it’s a it’s a matchup that I’ve been really looking forward to
after what this guy said at the
NFL draft, that his post-draft presser when he said, I just
want to see Tyler, Booker said.
I just want to see I love seeing the love leave their eyes. He
talked about his game play that
way. Well, guess what, Mr. Booker? I’m a big fan of you,
but I’m also a big fan of that
guy Jalen Carter. They call him Breadman. I don’t know why they
 call him Breadman for whatever
reason. Probably stacking up some sacks. I don’t know what he
is, but I don’t see any love
leaving this guy’s eyes when he plays. As a matter of fact, I
see a lot of love in his eyes
for terrorizing offenses, and he did it all year long, and he’s
done it in his in his short
career so far, he’s one of the stalwart figures for the Eagles.
And so I’m going to really look
forward to seeing this matchup between Tyler Booker and Jalen
 Carter. Once they didn’t play
each other in college though SEC rivals, they haven’t played each
other. They play each other for
the first time. Apparently he’s into clothing design. So that
Bread Man is his clothing line
name. Yeah. Learn something new. All right. Staying on week one.
Let’s go ahead and take this
thing down to ATL versus Tampa Bay. I’m looking for Todd Bowles
 versus Michael Penix Jr okay.
Yes. And the reason why because Todd Bowles is one of the most
 feared defensive minds in the
NFL. Michael Penix is coming out of a situation where he is now
the man in Atlanta high draft
pick. He took the spot of Kirk Cousins. A lot of pressure, not
a lot of NFL experience. What
does it look like when these two foes go against each other? And
just to put a little cherry on
top, there’s a dude by the name of Big Vita Vail who just
happened to go to the University
of Washington, UW, and he is going to be going after his
 quarterback, Michael Penix Jr.
Nice to see it. Okay. Well dub on I’m on to that. I want a big
season from Penix. That would be
fun. I’ll bring a full circle though. I just the Jets Steelers
thing. I think week one is
hilarious. The fact that Rogers begins his Steelers career in
Jet Life Stadium, he used to
call it I have Rogers versus sauce. I love this, I love that
 the fact that you’re hearing
that Sauce Gardner now may or may not travel with number one
 receivers more and more. That
means, guys, we have sauce on DK. We have Rogers throwing to
him. We have just 20 minutes
ago, it felt like these two guys were going to Broadway plays and
hanging out in New York City and
best buds, and I’m sure they still are. But let’s be honest
 here, the real headline matchup
is going to be Aaron versus Aaron. And that is Rogers versus
 Glenn Rogers goes into that
stadium of the coach, GM and Braintrust that released him for
the first time in his career and
said, we’re moving on. That is perfect. We’re not even giving
him a warm up week or warm up
month. First game at MetLife in Jersey. I love this one. Rogers
versus sauce, but you could pick
50 of them. I’m going to need to happen. Welcome back to our
latest episode of This Was a
Dude. It is episode three. We do this because you likely remember
 the superstars from yesteryear,
but I want to make sure we all remember the guys who were
 incredible without getting the
credit. Let me show you a picture. Do you know who this
player is? Sports fans. Do you
know who this is? I bet Broncos fans do. What if I told you for
a long time that was the
greatest Broncos pass rusher to ever live. That is Simon
 Fletcher. Simon Fletcher went to
the University of Houston, was drafted in the second round by
the Denver Broncos way back in
the day, and Simon Fletcher was incredible. Incredible. Had
 nearly 100 career sacks and
never made a Pro Bowl. Early on in his career, he had the, the
 benefits and the pleasure of
playing in the AFC title game, one of the most famous AFC title
games of all time, the John
Elway Drive game. Now normally you see Elway going down the
 field. We’re watching number 73
Simon Fletcher very young player out of Houston at the time who
was all over Bernie Kosar all
over that frozen field there. And Fletcher was a young player
 who they were not expecting
great things from, you know, not superstar things as a second
round pick. But he’s playing a
role and he’s doing his thing gets through that season. Then
we go to 1987 and Fletcher
again, who had nearly 100 career sacks, starts all 12 games for
the Broncos that year. I say 12
because the season was was shortened by the NFLPA strike,
 but Fletcher was starting to
cement his place as a good piece of the Broncos defense. You see
 him 50 yards downfield. Remember
that and watch out Warren Sapp, because this young pass rusher
is finding his way. Let’s go to
1988. Fletcher gets his first career interception. And it’s a
 beauty. That’s Jay Schroeder
from the Raiders. And you’re going to see as I mentioned
 watch Fletcher an athlete way
downfield picking it off. He said this was really meaningful
 for him because his college
coach was in attendance at the game, and he wanted to show him
that he could fit in the NFL and
make plays, and he did. Then let’s move on to the next one,
 because at one point, after
Fletcher became the sack leader in single season nine sacks that
year, he would continue to hold
that title. The Broncos sack leader for the next seven
 consecutive seasons. Then we get
to 1990. The Broncos are the favorites to get to the Super
Bowl again. They lose the first
game and are zero and one. They’re in danger of going to
zero and two. But Simon Fletcher
says not with John Elway, not without me, and not without this
 incredible shirt I’m wearing.
Just before that fourth down play, one of the young guys
turned to me and he said, you
know, I haven’t been zero and two since high school. I said,
you’re not going to be this year
either. I know the guys who’ve been on the team a number of
years have seen John do some
things that some people classify as miracles. I guess I’m getting
used to it. I call it par for
the course for John Elway. Elway steps up in the pocket, lets it
go long. The Johnson he’s got it
at the 40. When he caught it I jumped in the air and started
screaming. I ran to that young
guy and I said see what I told you. All right. If you’re
 winking at the camera you’re
starting to feel yourself. Elway one of the faces of the league.
And this is the night that Simon
Fletcher became a known guy in the league. November 4th, 1990.
Fletcher has four sacks in one
game against the Minnesota Vikings. That is Rich Gannon,
 future league MVP Rich Gannon.
Fletcher sacked him four times. That is still to this day, a
 Broncos single game record. All
the guys they’ve had through there Von Miller, DeMarcus Ware,
 Simon Fletcher still stands atop
that record for the Denver Broncos with four sacks in that
game. And we move on to 1992. A
couple of years later, he’s gone from becoming a known player to
 a superstar. Simon Fletcher,
whose name you need to know, had 16 sacks in 1992, not 16 sacks.
 He’s getting Warren Moon again
in different eras, 16 sacks and did not make the Pro Bowl. Dave
 Craig I don’t know how that’s
possible. There were great players in the AFC at that time,
 Jeff Hostetler, but somehow he
pulled it off. He also became a piece of history by setting the
 record for most consecutive
games with a sack, which was ten, a record that stood until
2018 when Chris Jones broke it.
So look at this consecutive games with a sack. Chris Jones,
possible Hall of Famer in the
future. Simon Fletcher never made a Pro Bowl. DeMarcus Ware a
Hall of Famer Bruce Smith, Hall
of Famer. Something is sticking out here and one of these things
is not like the other. It’s
Simon Fletcher my man. He would play three more seasons before
 retiring after the 1995 season.
He was inducted into the Broncos Ring of Fame in 2016. Deservedly
so. Always a Bronco, only a
Bronco, 97.5 sacks and an incredible career, a record that
would stay intact for over a
quarter century until Von Miller broke his Denver Broncos sack
 record. Remember, Simon Fletcher
had more sacks in his career than Howie Long, than Warren
 Sapp, than Clay Matthews and
that many, many others. He was an incredible, incredible Denver
 Bronco. Still lives in Denver.
He is in the barbecue business. God bless him. He was also
 inducted into the Colorado
Sports Hall of Fame in April this year. We see you, Simon
 Fletcher. We remember you, Simon
Fletcher. And let’s always know that back in the day when you
 were facing that Denver Broncos
team, that orange jerseys Simon Fletcher, this was a dude. Good
morning football after this. Let’s say there’s barbed wire
down there for the bears. But
are they coming out of the darkness at this point. And is
it will it be at the hands of
their new head coach? We’re going to start in Chicago, where
 Ben Johnson is impressed with
his receiver duo, and he gives a breakdown of what he’s been
 seeing between D.J. Moore and
Roman dunes. To me, he fits that prototypical X receiver where
you can line him up outside the
numbers and provided he gets a one on one with a corner, he’s
going to win most of his
matchups. When you have a long guy that can win contested
 catches and torque down the
field and all that, but yet still can drop his weight and
get into and out of routes like
he can. That’s really a unique skill set that we’re going to
look to capitalize on. And what
 I’ve come to learn about D.J. Is he’s a he’s a physical. He is a
run after catch. Just get me the
ball type of guy. And so whether that’s in the backfield, whether
 that’s screens, whether that’s I
think he had a nice go route the other day. There’s a number of
things that we’re looking to do
and explore to how do we get him the ball and get him in space.
 There’s a lot of hymns and he’s
there. It’s DJ Moore and it’s and it’s the guys that hopefully
 have firsthand participation in
the success of Caleb Williams this season. Listen, for those
guys to be successful, it has to
come from a big year. From the quarterback entering his second
 year. But while Caleb Williams
played fine last year, he still did not achieve a mark that the
 bears have been satiated,
salivating over for all of time. Practically. Who said his goal
is to throw for 4000 yards this
season? Caleb Williams said this fill in the blank Caleb Williams
will become the bears first 4000
yard passer. If he does the following. Manti. If they do
 exactly what Ben Johnson says,
that’s all you have to do. Just whatever the man says, do it.
And the reason being is this
last year, Caleb Williams threw for 3500 yards. And that’s with
 the total yards offense that
ranked last. A rushing offense is 25th, passing offense is
 31st, third down conversion
offense 31st. Yet the man still threw for 3500 while being
 sacked, more than any other
quarterback in the NFL. So all you have to do is do exactly
what your head coach is saying.
Do I love this interview that I heard where D.J. Moore said in
reaction to a question of how
has it been with Ben Johnson and DJ Moore said, one word and
you’re going to love this as a
bears fan. He said, it’s been uncomfortable, like, that’s all
I need to know as to how Ben
Johnson, Ben Johnson is running this team, how he’s the
 expectation that he’s set for
not only his stars, but everybody else in that building
 that is making them
uncomfortable. And when your star receiver is saying that,
 imagine what the rookie is
saying. Imagine the examples that are being set out on that
 football field when Ben Johnson
pulls the first team offense out for Misaligning twice in the
 seven on seven period. Like,
that’s the stuff that I think that if Caleb Williams and the
rest of the Chicago Bears just
follow exactly what Ben Johnson is saying, Caleb Williams is
going to throw for 4000 yards,
and he’s going to do it easily because Jared Goff didn’t throw
for 4000 yards once. I mean, he
didn’t throw under 4000 yards once with Ben Johnson and with
Caleb Williams. I think he can
do it multiple times. There is no shortage of talent in
Chicago. These guys have all the
weapons in the world. You have a young gun at quarterback and
 Caleb Williams, you have a
running back and DeAndre Swift, you have a two headed monster at
 tight end and Colston Loveland
and Cole Kmet. You have a two headed monster at receiver DJ
Moore. You have all the weapons.
But none of it matters if you can’t keep him upright. Keep the
man off the ground. The man. The
Chicago Bears had 68 sacks last year, 68, I don’t know. I’m not
great at math, but I use the
calculator on my phone. And if you divide 68 by 17, that’s an
average of four sacks per game.
No quarterback is throwing for 4000 yards. I know he threw for
 3541 last year and that’s
awesome. He’s going to hit 4000 yards. If they can keep this guy
upright. And they plan to do so
by bringing in veteran offensive linemen. They Ben Johnson did
not want to work with rookies.
He doesn’t want to train nobody up. He said, Joe, Tony come
 here, Drew Dalman, come here,
Jonah Jackson, come here. I need this young man upright. And I
need to be able to utilize him
to get the ball in the hands of my playmakers. I cannot wait to
see this offense take off. I
think it’s going to be one of the most explosive in the
league. Listen, you guys are on
it. It’s a combination of does he click with Ben Johnson and
can he stand on his feet behind
the offensive line. But you know when Caleb came out and said
this the 4000 yard thing I was a
little bit disappointed because personally I don’t care about
that number. I think it is
really meaningless. And for context, Josh Allen last year
was the MVP and did not throw
for 4000 yards. Jalen hurts won the Super Bowl, did not throw
for 3000 yards. It’s you can go
up and down the list the 4000 5000 thing. It’s overrated. And
yet I like that he did it. Now
that I’ve had a second to think about it. Because it’s not just
 about statistics and doing this
and doing that. It’s about making the dumb joke go away.
It’s about the meme going away,
and it’s about, you know, the bears are the only team, blah,
blah, blah blah. Shut up. Yes,
we know that. We’ve heard about it for years, and Caleb
 represents change and
renaissance and getting rid of all that dirty laundry and
 garbage that the bears have
littered the floor with for years. So if Caleb Williams
wants to throw for 4000 yards so
that he never has to hear again, that no bears quarterback has
ever thrown for 4000 yards, God
bless him. Do it. I hope he does it. I hope everything about it
 happens because there are too
many things clinging to this team, too many parasites, too
many things that just drag them
down and worry their reputation and get the fans upset. And the
dumb thing about 4000 yards is
one of them. So I don’t think it’s important you can win the
MVP in the Super Bowl this year
and not throw for 4000 yards, but it is also just flicking off
 one of those barnacles that
cling to the Chicago Bears organization. And that is his
job. Caleb’s job, new bears, new
future, new everything. If it’s important to him, then I
completely support it. And if he
can stand up and he can follow this, his head coach, he’s got,
he will do it. Let me ask you
guys this are the bears in this vacuum of they must achieve
 immediate success or else
because of everything that they’ve experienced or. Kyle,
I’ll ask you this first. Would
you be okay with 4000 yards but only like a three win
improvement? Or do you need to
see this drastic uptick in order for you and kind of
 representative of bears fans in
general to say we are finally moving in the right direction
 because there’s the right
direction, and then there is just like a drastic takeoff,
which is it? No win this year.
Win, guys. Year two for quarterbacks is the new year
five. Just just look around at
what’s going on. You have to keep up. Joe Burrow was in the
Super Bowl in his second year.
All these guys that he’s competing with are going to be
 competing with you. Don’t wait.
There’s no it’s not like when I was a kid and you sit for a
backup for a couple years. Then
there’s a warm up year and another warm up year. And now
you’re in your prime. No no no
no no. That’s all change. And that all change. When Mahomes
took the field in his second
year and was about to beat Brady in the title game, the standards
are different. I don’t care that
he has a new coach. I don’t care that he has to gel with his new
players. It’s time you win in
your second year or we start looking. So yes, Caleb has all
the tools, but no, no, no. If
you were to tell me that Caleb Williams throws for 4500 yards
this year and the bears are
seven and ten, that is a bitterly disappointing year.
This is a playoff season for the
bears, and anything less of it is like, what are we doing?
Yeah, I wouldn’t go as far as
that, Gabe. I think as long as they have a winning percentage,
I think I mean, not winning
percentage but a winning record, I think that they’re they’re
 heading in the right direction.
I know that everybody, you know, tasked Ben Johnson as being this
this guru. And he is that that’s
why he’s there. They said that Caleb Williams is a is a
 quarterback guru. That’s why
he’s there. You know they they went out and they invested in
Rome Odunze they bring in D.J.
Moore. They got DeAndre Swift. So they put the talent around
 them. They put the quarterback
in position. And now they have the head coach position. So the
 expectations definitely have
changed. I don’t care about the 4000 yards either. I agree with
you Kyle on that one. But I do
believe that these guys need a winning record. They the reality
is they’re in one of the
toughest divisions in the NFL, the NFC North. It’s going to be
challenging to get into that top
three and definitely going to be challenging getting to the top
two. But if these guys can have
a winning record in their first year of Ben Johnson and get
 Caleb Williams in this offense,
and the defense continues to do what they’ve been doing over the
years, which is playing well. If
that can be consistent, then you’re heading in the right
direction and then next year the
expectation elevates. Well, I see where you’re coming from. I
kind of agree with what KB said.
And you know, in our first hour we had a quote thing and I
quoted the movie Dark Knight and
there was another quote that I wanted to use, and it’s actually
 perfect for this segment. It
says sometimes the truth isn’t good enough. Sometimes people
 deserve more. Sometimes people
deserve to have their faith rewarded. And I think that’s the
bears fans. Like, how many times
are we going to talk about like we’re heading in a positive
 trajectory? How many times are
we heading in the right direction? We have the
 quarterback, we have the coach,
we have the skill players. We have the O-line now. Now let’s
go. You know, I think they’re at
that point where it’s like, let’s, let’s do something about
it. To Kb’s point, you could
throw for 6000 yards, but if we’re not in in the playoffs,
like, what does that what does
that even mean? Like, that doesn’t really mean anything to
me now. I think if he threw for
6000 yards, like you would probably be in the playoffs. But
 for Chicago fans, I think
they’re at that point already. KB where it’s like, man, all
right, we know all of these
facts, but at a certain point, we have to be rewarded for our
 love and our loyalty towards
this, towards this organization. It’s amazing how many times
Manti can quote the Dark Knight,
Batman, The Dark Knight on here, average man just swims in it. I
just want to I wanted to ask
something really quick because I and our own Bridget Condon who
is with us for NFL Network’s
Inside Training Camp live today talking all things Texans
 Bridget good morning to you.
Great to see you on Gmfb. First and foremost, what’s going on in
 Houston these days? First timer
there. Yeah Jamie, thanks for having me. And first time to
Houston. I got in really late
last night, so I haven’t seen it, but the one thing I was told
about this training camp is it’s
going to be the hottest training camp you ever go to. So here’s
the thing. Sitting right next to
me, you can’t see it. Is a AC unit like this crew here is
 absolutely unbelievable. Dare I
say I have goosebumps because this AC is blowing so hot. But
also it’s not that hot here.
It’s about 80 degrees. Humidity is only 70%. So they really
rolled out the red carpet for me
here in Houston. But these fans are so excited, Jamie, to see
C.J. Stroud in this new look
offense. We just talked to a guy. He said he got here at 207
in the morning. He was the third
person in line. He said he was here yesterday at 1 a.m. And
became the first person in line.
So they’re doing everything they can to see C.J. Stroud. And this
 new offense under Nick Caley.
Look, a lot of things were said about C.J. Stroud in his second
 year. He had that incredible
rookie season where he set a bunch of records, became the
offensive rookie of the year and
then kind of had a slump in year two. But when you look at the
numbers, he really did not have
time to execute passes downfield because he was sacked 52 times.
I know Isaiah was just talking
about Caleb Williams and needing to keep him upright. The same
 conversations are happening here
in Houston. They want to be able to have C.J. Stroud give him a
little bit more time to stay
upright, throw the ball down the field, and they got a pair of
 receivers in the draft that
they’re really excited about, just trying to see what they can
do together here in in training
camp, trying to build that chemistry. Jamie. Yeah, speaking
of you just mentioned it. A
couple of new weapons for the Texans. Listen, they want to
have their cake and eat it too.
They want to have this great young quarterback and they want
to expand the offense and invest
so they can continuously win their division and make the
playoffs. What are we to expect
from this version of the Texans after injuries plagued them last
season? Yeah. So when you look
at this roster right Stefon Diggs is now gone to New
England. And then you have Tank
Dell who is expected to miss the season due to that ACL injury.
But they got that duo from Iowa
State. Those receivers who were going to talk to you later
today, who was one of the best
duos in college. So can they transfer that in their first
 season here at Houston? We’re
going to ask him that. And then Christian Kirk who by the way
 Jamie, we have something in
common with him. He’s a girl dad. He just welcomed his first
baby him and his wife a couple
months ago. He was a player that, you know, played in this
 division. He played against the
Texans twice a year. He was with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now is
here with the Texans. And C.J.
Stroud is really excited to build the chemistry. He’s doing
so much with this new team. They
even went to Toronto, which is kind of fun. Like during the
offseason they took a trip to
Toronto, the wide receiver C.J. Stroud and the tight ends to
 just build that chemistry. And,
you know, they were just touring around Toronto. Like, can you
 imagine these NFL players just
with their phones out, looking around at at the sightseeing
scenes and, and just kind of
enjoying. But it’s all those things like at this point of the
year, Jamie, you know, that are
going to pay off when it comes to December and January. And you
can shut your eyes and throw a
pass because you know, your receivers and your pass catchers
so well. So all those little
things, it’s going to be it’s going to be interesting to watch
 how how much they’ve gelled.
We’re entering day three of pads here today at Texas Texans
 training camp. Nothing like
getting lost in an international See you later. Yeah. That was a
couple of years back on Good
Morning Football. It all happened when? Before a segment,
Kyle says, Jamie, get up here
and do a post-game interview with me after I beat my son. 100
to nothing. We’ve had a lot of
great moments on this show, but this week is the start of my
fourth season on the show. Three
years ago this week, I began hosting Good Morning Football.
Thank you Kyle. It is the start.
Don’t clap for yourself of season ten for you my friend. So
in honor of that, and in honor
of this show and honestly, these newcomers to our group, just to
 make sure we educate everybody,
Kyle, we’re going to play some gmfb moments in time trivia.
Manti and Isaiah will tee up
these questions. And of course, we must answer with the Gmfb
 mascot, the whiteboard. Yes, and
we will reveal our answers. And we have video clues, my friend,
for every single one. Are you
ready, Kyle Brandt? Yeah, I’m really, really nervous about
this. I’m not confident in my
abilities at all. KB who are you right now? You’re such a good
actor. You lock it up, sir. Get
her done. I got question one. Okay, I got question. Are you
ready, Jamie? KB. Are you ready?
Yeah. Okay. What was the tweet that made Jamie fall to the
 floor during hot tweet time
machine? Oh, no. What was the tweet that made Jamie fall to
the floor during hot tweet time?
All right. Can I give some context. Yeah. Go ahead please.
We did a thing where we look
back on old tweets from ten, 12 years ago of all of us, and we
 just brought up embarrassing
tweets that were way, way, way before we were working in media.
And we found one from Jamie’s
that was really, really, really funny. And the question is, what
 was that tweet? The second
question is, Jamie, do you remember I, I fall on the floor
 a lot during the show. I don’t
know if it was one of my I guess maybe it was one of my tweets.
My I think there was something
about I was writing tomorrow is a mystery or yesterday was a
gift or something like that, and
I was so embarrassed about it that I wanted to just, like,
hide within a shell of myself. I
think what you got, man, I remember when you were a
freshman, you got on the field
and got your first taste of Notre Dame, and you made that
big hit and just crushed that
dude. You set a tone. I’m going to set a tone with this first
 question. Not only is it
 yesterday’s history, tomorrow’s a mystery. Today is a gift.
That’s why they call it the
present. I remember how I said it. I went yesterday is history.
 Tomorrow’s a mystery. Today is a
gift. Watch. Roll the clip. And this is how well I do this
stuff. But let’s give like a
very erudite, intellectual, really informed type tweet
that’s going to blow you away I
love these. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift. That’s why they
call it the present. Oh my gosh, very poetic. Who are you John
Lennon. Oh Jamie, speak on it. I
can’t Socrates over here. That was like somebody’s quote. So I
could at least not blame myself
for not being. It was from Kung Fu Panda. It’s incredible. Yes.
 Awesome. Okay. Let’s go. Extra
point. All right. Baby did actually the whole thing. No, I
get that’s a full point for
each. I said mystery gift or whatever. It was a valiant
effort. It was a valiant effort.
All right, here we go. Next question. When Kyle ranted it’s
a wedding toast and not a
speech. What was the name of the groom? Kyle mentioned a pretend
 groom that he talked about.
Okay, we had to get this off my chest one one summer we were
saying, when you get up there
and you’re the best man or the maid of honor, you get up and
you give a nice, concise toast
with a glass of champagne, and you make it all about them. You
don’t say that you’re my rock
and you’re my partner in crime. And I gave a hypothetical
example of a groom and a bride.
I’m trying to remember the groom. I think I know it.
 Jamie’s over here. I think. I
 mean, I know, I know, it’s getting to it. Kyle’s point. I
can remember the tone, and I
feel like he goes. And, Kevin, I love you so much. And what what
does that say that says Tyler.
Oh, Tyler. Tyler. Tyler. Okay. And the answer is another thing
for the maid of honor. I’ve
heard this recently. Do not include this line where you go,
go ahead. I’ll be honest. When I
first met Tyler, I wasn’t the biggest fan. Tyler’s grandmother
 sitting right there. What are
you talking about? Don’t edit that out. You just said you
hated the groom when you first
met him. It is his night. Wow. Dang you. Kyle. Brandon, Tyler
 and Kevin strange. That’s good.
Right? Kyle’s got two and I got one. Come on. By the way, that
happened at my own wedding, and
I’ve seen it at other weddings. They get up there. Like when I
first met your husband, I wasn’t
so sure. And you’re like, oh, really? I noticed you’re at
 another wedding by yourself.
What a surprise. Anyway, let’s go solo. Dolo. Next question.
 During Jamie’s Friday food
mashup, Kyle said the biggest obstacle about this segment is
the time zone. If I had two
whiskeys and were in Saint Paul at 8:15 p.m, I’m licking the
plate. This is an anger run to
the palate. Which matchup and food dish was he talking about?
Wow. Two seasons ago on Thursday
nights during the games, I would cook a dish and I would create
my own recipe from the two
cities of a week. One game that was just a random 1:00 game. I
 think I made cheddar cheese
apple pie once when the Falcons and Packers were playing each
 other, and Kyle’s commentary
when being forced to eat this in the 8:00 hour of the Friday show
was some of the best. I believe
this because of the reference to the once he is done writing to
the hour time zone, but also
specifically the city that he said is that I made Tater Tot
hot dish when the Vikings and
the Packers played each other. Jamie Erdahl tater tot hot dish.
What do you have, Kyle Brandt
All right, listen, I, I, I have a lot of psychological scar
 tissue built up over that
segment. So I’m going to say was it onions and milk. Because I
feel like that was how it was
most weeks. Onions and milk. That’s my guess. I did not do
 that. Let’s reveal the answer.
As I always say, Jamie, the biggest obstacle to this segment
is time zone. It’s 8 a.m. It is.
If I had two whiskeys and we’re in Saint Paul at 8:15 p.m, I’m
licking the plate. It hits the
palate roughly. It is an angry run to the palate, is stiff arm
to my tongue at 830 in the
morning. Okay, David. Tater tot hot dish, tater tot hot dish.
There was relish in it. I didn’t
even eat it because I hate relish. That’s how bad it was.
 But Kyle’s well done. 222222.
Oh, we tied up tie. Okay, so that was Jamie’s segment. Let’s
 take this thing to Kyle’s
segment. What was the name of the Angry Run segment in London?
All right. Who was the winner of
the angry run? Sorry name. And winner of the Angry Run segment
in London. Oh, oh, I’m sure I’m
going to write like I remember that we did the show in London
right in front of the Tower
Bridge. And I remember that there was a crazy thing that
happened in the middle of angry
runs involving one of the ladies who was watching the segment
from the general public. I hope
that’s not in the clip, but we’ll find out shortly. I do
remember this, I think. Let me
see the winner. Okay. Jamie, you got any memories? I mean, in
 London, I feel I just wrote a
British profanity on my board, but we’re going to and I’m going
to I’m going to do. The odds are
ever in my favor. I’m going to call it. Did you call it, like,
 chopped gent or something? Angry
runs chopped gent. And did Derrick Henry win it because he
wins them all the time. Okay. So
you got Derrick. See that’s great. You play the averages.
But no I think it was called
bloody miffed bloody miffed run. And I, I think the winner was
 Cordarrelle Patterson who was
just in the news the other day unfortunately. But I love
 Cordeiro. I think it’s bloody
miffed and Cordeiro and I wonder if the crazy thing that happened
in that segment is about to be
in this clip. And the winner is the shutout continues. The
 Dallas Cowboys have still never
won a scepter. This is going to the Atlanta Falcons. Yeah
 Cordarrelle Patterson
Cordarrelle Patterson you get it. We love you in this segment.
We don’t listen to Oasis. We
always look back in anger angry runs yes. See you back in the
States. Thank you King. Oh my
god. And that is angry runs ladies and gentlemen bloody
miffed. Run. Oh I even said it.
Bloody miffed. Runs three two Kyle KB said it. Wow three two
KB I wonder where that woman is
today. Kyle go ahead. Yeah we just saw like the PG rated
version of that segment. I guess
I can say it now, like there was a woman there who was like, I
don’t know, 75 years old or
something, and she and I kissed on the mouth in the middle of
 the segment. It was an
unbelievable thing. We’ve since burned the video. It did happen,
 though. Yeah. Yep. Okay, guys.
Last question. Okay. You guys ready? It’s three two. Come on.
 Okay. Are we double pointing
this KB? Yeah two points two points. Come on, let’s go let’s
go sister. Good good vibes. Here
we go. All right last question. What body part did Kyle say he
 injured after Tyree Wilson
lifted him in the air during practice. During draft hug
 practice. So Tyree Wilson yeah.
Came to the studio. Condor I believe his nickname is. And
Kyle teed him up to say when the
commissioner calls your name and crosses the stage, how are you
going to embrace this man? Kyle
played the role of the commissioner, and Tyree did just
 unsavory things to Kyle during
this hug. And I think he said I injured my oh my gosh. He lifted
me up like I was an American
Girl doll. Like just scooped me up like it was nothing. The
video is so fun to watch. Okay,
we have it. I have to come up with a body part. Jamie. Jamie.
Jamie’s trying to get her body
part. This is not. This is wrong. But I kind of wanted to
 write it anyways because it’s
fun to say. Did you say you injured your larynx? Larynx?
That’s how you spell that I love
I wish, I wish it was larynx. I think it’s lumbar vertebrae.
Like it was a lower back scoop.
It might be spleen or pancreas or something, but I think it’s
 lumbar vertebrae. It’s a really
I felt like a little baby. Guys, wait till you see this. Let’s
see the answer. How are we
doing, Cardinals fans? All right, let them hear you. With
the number three pick in the
2023 NFL draft, the Arizona Cardinals select Tyree Wilson,
 outside linebacker, defensive
end, Texas Tech. Yes, he did it. He made it. Give him the oh. My
lumbar is in my throat. Oh
that’s a powerful man. Holy crap. No. Wow. Awesome. That was
great I need a cigarette. That
was amazing. I will give you the win. However, I feel like we’re
both right because you said your
lumbar was in your throat. And isn’t your throat your larynx?
Kind of like. I feel like we
both had. Absolutely, absolutely. Oh, that’s great for
 three. Kyle. Good. We’ll give
each everybody a point Jamie. Thank you Kyle. Great job guys.
That was a look back I got to
say I got to say I am very jealous because of all this. All
the places that this show has
been, I feel like we were out of the loop. You know what I mean?
Like, I wish we went on all
those trips, got to get practice reps up. You got to get footage
on tape and you have to have no
shame, and you have to be able to eat anything on television.
That is the name of the game.
Sounds like my type of show for Gmfb. That’s good stuff, y’all.
 Kyle. Giddy up. Let’s have
another hell of a season, shall we? With our new friends at the
 table. Yes, ma’am. Yes, ma’am.
Gmfb. Everybody, there’s lumbar and larynx damaged.

Sheduer Is A Scrub And Will Never See Meaningful Success PERIOD
Im telling you Andrew Berry only drafted Shedeur so the Eagles couldnt draft him with their next pick
browns QB1 SHEDEUR SANDERS !!! no any
This isn’t news anyone who wasn’t emotional like females knew the owners were deliberately not drafting him.
Kyle isn’t in the show but virtually anymore. I miss the old days of the show in house with peter kyle and jason. It was the show that got me into watch football commentary shows
The fans don't believe in any of your BS about Watson
I love Jamie! She’s such a rockstar!!!
This show has fell off tremendously
“We have great processes” 😂😂😂😂 dude you’re the Browns! Who are you fooling? 😅
Imo browns should give sheduer every rep they can and allow one of the vets to get started while ur preparing sheduer. IMO THIS SEASON SOONER THAN LATER YOU NEED SHEDUER IF YOU WANT TO WIN AND ATTEMPT TO CONTEND OFFENSIVELY. YOU NEED TO SEE IF SHEDUER CAN BE YOUR FRANCHISE QB! STOP PLAYING AND DELIVER FOR YOUR LOYAL FAN BASE. SANDERS IS THE ONLY QB ON THAT ROSTER WITH THE BUILD THE ATTRIBUTES AND ARM TALENT TO BECOME A FRANCHISE QB. BROWNS IF U DONT CAPITALIZE ON SHEDUER EVENTUALLY HE WILL START SOMEWHERE IN THE NFL AND YOU'LL REGRET DROPPING THE BALL AGAIN. THE WHOLE NFL WILL REGRET HOW THEY'VE DONE SANDERS TO THIS POINT EVENTUALLY IF I HAD TO BET ON IT.
The NFL is a joke, The Browns are the worse organization in all of sports, the NFL is classless, and full of discrimination, greedy, winning is not important, only thier bottom lines, every NFL team passed on Sanders 4 times, I've lost alot of respect for the league, draftkings has paid me well, the only reason why I'm into it.
While I was happy I knew Simon Fletcher…I felt old.
11:58 marriage advice from Kyle B
They have a coach? What’s his record?
Look…Mr. Haslam has 250 million reasons to misspeak. Hell…if I were the Browns owner I would have said: no comment and have a nice day! Just sayin'!
AB,could not pick corn out of black pepper, and who really cares what KB thinks, this guy should get canned
Ngl, I really hate the Brown ownership almost as much as I hate Jerry jones
Like what tf did sheduer growing up in the spot light have to do with anything lmao
I love the Simon Fletcher segment. This was a player that I never heard of until this video. It's good to go back and have context on the NFL before I was born. I'm sure the players get a kick out of their glory days been told as well. It's important that the older stories are told to modern audiences. We need to know where the game has came from, who has given their service to it, and most importantly make sure that the new generations know there is a deep honor and respect in this game.
the man has a contract … honor it … i don't give a '@@@@' about cleveland … they dug this hole when they signed onto this 'circus' that is the 'sander's fiasco ' …
Simon fletcher segment was great. His rookie card was the first football card I ever had. Was a great player that for whatever reason never was recognized by the national media
Everyone wants to pretend the browns are dysfunctional. They haven't been dysfunctional since 2019. They have nade a few mistakes Deshuan Watson being the biggest. But 1/2 the league would have made that mistake if they would have had the opportunity.
