First up is the Olympic Club host of the 125th US Amateur Championship and one of the toughest tests we’ve ever seen. We played in tournament conditions, straight up stroke play to see how we would stack up.

Today we’re at the stunning Olympic Club in San Francisco, California. We’re just in it right out of the gate. I love this stuff, too. We’re at a beautiful golf. I’d be honest, I didn’t prepare for how long the rough was going to be. Yeah. See, you shouldn’t have done that. Host to 11 different USGA Championships, including five US Opens and this year’s 2025 US Amateur Golf Championship. USGA loves when we come out to their events. Anyone who roots for the course, the USDA is like, “Get for playboy out there. Those guys can’t get the ball in the air.” 312 players will compete for the USM Havomire Trophy. But first, it’s our turn. Myself, Rigs, and Trent take on the beast that is the Lake Course. Stroke play in tournament conditions. Truly one of the toughest tests of golf we’ve ever faced. The 125th US Amateur Golf Championship coverage begins Wednesday, August 13th on Golf Channel and Peacock. Let’s get right to it. All right, it’s a long grind. The rough they’re saying is preposterous, but nobody cares about that. Every course is supposed to be really easy. [Music] We’re here at the Olympic Club in San Francisco. We’re here for the USGAA US Amter. US Amter media day. I think this is going to be the craziest two-day event filming wise of our lives. It is. It’s nuts. We’re handicapping it. So, we took the course handicap of each player, both courses. Trent starts 42 under par. Hilarious. Frank Bell starts 17 under par. I start 13 under par. I can already see people are fuming about that. This is this this hole is worst case scenario for my my hilarious T- shot. What are we doing here? I mean shape one. Driver feels insane. So is the draw good or I honestly like I don’t know where else you’re supposed to do. You’re supposed to just be like whoa that come back or go in the tree. You me Trent? That go in the trunk of the tree. I think I should be hitting like a sixiron off of this too. I was going to say I imagine I’m sorry. Brian Brian’s the worst caddy we’ve ever had yet. No, no, no. I’m just kidding. I’m just kidding. Why’ I hit driver there? Cuz it’s 620 yards. That’s why. Yeah, I think that’s like the shot. That’s where I’m trying to hit it. Just trying to hit it into I never change my shot shape. So, that’s just what it’s going to be. I’m with you. I’m like purposely trying to hit it into the unplayable rough. This is my first round with the fellas since uh having a kid. So, we’ll see how that changes the things. cuz I’m the daddy of the group now. So they do call this the Jim Furick hole because he famously lost the open by snap hooking one into there and lost. I mean their T- box is nuts. That clip is That clip is so hard to watch. The Fur clip is devastating. I love Furick, too. Me, too. God, I love Jim Fur. So, I’m going to try to hit a draw here. Is that what you’re telling me, Brian? Are you crazy? Yeah, if you can. All right. Yeah, we all we all did exactly what we thought we were going to do. cart golf hit the tree came right down perfect. That’s where everybody hits it. Eh, rigs is great out of the thick rough. Dude, as you’ve seen at Oakmont, Zire Golf, I want you to get fingers ready. Those fingers ready. My wife was literally pushing out a baby at that point. And I think I would rather have been there walking rings trying. Yes, I was saying I That rough was insane. Dude, it was when I would look back it would look like he got shot and it was all of us all day. It wasn’t just him, but I mean, I don’t get why he was swinging differently. Like, I get like it not going as far. That’s something that I need to like go I got to go try Pokemon for myself. Earlo, today, Brian, they say the rough’s going to be just as thick, right? We’ll leave here today thinking, “Oh boy, if they show up on Monday from the stroke play rounds and it’s like this, we’re in for, you know, 6 and 1 half hour rounds.” We will be maintaining that and bringing that back down. But what you will get a feel for today is is certainly championship Sunday. All right, we’re off. Last time we played a course like this. Uh, I went viral. Everybody was content farming my 106 at Oakma. So over under today is 105 and a half. I try to break 106 out here at the US Amter course. Similar rough everybody’s telling us. I guess we could drive the carts anywhere, which is awesome. I’m going to do the same thing that I did at Oakmont where it’s just you got to take it shot by shot. Now, one would argue that’s how you should always do it, but at a golf course like this, you just got to focus on what you can control. Yeah, I think that’s just a chip. I’m going to take a hybrid out of yours is a chip. Oh, man. Yep. I mean, I probably am taking a little bit of a risk here with a hybrid. I was thinking about trying to hit a sevenwood or something just Yeah. Yeah. See, you shouldn’t have done that. Wow. We’re back, baby. USGA loves when we come out to their events. Anyone who roots for the course, the USGA is like, “Get poor play out there. Those guys can’t get the ball in the air.” Well, [ __ ] Where’d mine go? Oh, I I mean, I got to chip it sideways. They’re like, “Oh, if you’re playing late today, uh, you know, like keep the the curses to a minimum to yourself because it’s going to be the hardest course.” Well, they also said Rigs was just talking about this where they were like, “This is longer than it’ll be for the actual event.” Yeah. It’s like, oh [ __ ] You get why they have to set the courses like this, right? Like they’re the best players in the game. But it’s just amazing how good they actually are. Feels like we love it. But then even if you do land in the fairway, which I haven’t done, you’re like it’s it’s not flat. It’s not flat and it might just roll into the rough. Is that a four call? Are those guys over there?
