If I want to spin one, I’m going to open the face a little bit. So, it got the face a little bit open and a little bit more like cut like so it’s got slice spin on it. Yeah. I don’t know. That’s the easiest way for me to to spin it. [Music] Yeah. Hey guys, we’re with DJ at the Chipping Green and we’re getting a glimpse into his routine before the tournament. Are you excited? What do you think is going to happen this week? Um, yeah. I mean, it’s a good golf course. Um, you know, obviously we got a great field here. Um, it’s really beautiful here. It is. The golf course is nice. It It’s uh last year they had some issues with they had some floods like a couple weeks before we came. So, no, they didn’t have any water here. So, the course was really firm and fast. This year is a little softer. The roughs up. Golf course is going to play a little harder, I think. Um, maybe a little more challenging then. It will be. And so, yeah, looking forward to it. It’s uh you know it’s going to be a a tough week. So I think premium on the you know ball strikers for sure. Drive it well. You got to hit a lot of fairways and a lot of greens if you want to play well. And our followers want to know how you hit those spinny wedge shots. Should we lot of practice? Lot of practice. Yeah, for sure. Um I’m probably the worst to probably tell you how to do it when you talk to P Reed later. He he’s he can probably explain it a little better than I can, but solid both of you guys hit pretty well though, so we’re going to ask him. But solid contacts the most important. That’s how you get spin on it is uh is catching it solid. Yeah. Um generally if I want to spin one, I’m going to open the face a little bit. So got the face a little bit open and a little bit more like cut like so it’s got slice spin on it. Yeah. I don’t know. That’s the easiest way for me to to spin it. Yeah, that one didn’t hit it quite hard enough, but it was it. No, it was a low. It was spinning. It’s spinning. And for amateurs who want to score better inside 100 yards, what should they focus on? What separates a great wedge player from an average one? Uh, distance control. Distance control. Okay. So, work on your distance control. Well, if you want to get better from inside 100, it’s it’s all distance control cuz if you’re hitting at the right distance every time, you can be 10 ft left, 10 ft right, and you still have a 10footer. But it’s, you know, so you don’t have to be perfect with your aim, but if you have good distance, then you’re always going to leave yourself a makeable putt. Yeah, I love that. That makes sense. I love that. Okay. And um was that a ball or when you’re hitting the ball and do you want to make sure it checks or spins? What’s the biggest difference in hitting it? Like what do you want to make sure you’re doing? Um so clean equipment of course. Yeah. Always with your ghost towel, make sure you clean clean your wedge. Um so the the difference between like one that I want to stop and one that I want to roll out. I mean, well, the easiest way to do it is just grab a different club, right? That does make sense. Yes. Um, but you can still do it with a with a 60. So, like I’ll hit shots that I want to release, but usually with those I’m going to kind of feel like I’m drawing it. Mhm. Right. So, a little more like release and then the ball will roll out a little bit more. Right. And if I want it to spin, it’s going to be a little more cuddy. Mhm. Okay. So, it’s not that difficult. I mean, it is difficult. Little tweaks in how you’re hitting it, right? So, if I wanted to roll out, it’s going to be a little more back in my stance, and I’m going to try to release it. Kind of feel like I’m drawing it. It’s not going to, but it’s the feel, right? And then if I’m going to spin it, it’s going to be a little more forward and feel like I’m cutting it. Yeah, that’s awesome. Thank you. Yeah. And all right, we want to ask, if there was a movie about your golf game, who would you pick to play you and why? Um, I’d pick Bradley Cooper. Okay, Bradley Cooper. Honestly, I could see that. Would you jump in as the stunt double? Do you trust Bradley to get your technique right? Maybe I feel like he figure it out. But yeah, I I could definitely coach him up. Yeah, I could see that. I like it. Um, all right. And we know you love fishing. So, when was the first time you caught your first fish? Oh, I was little because I grew up around water. So, okay. Um, but more fishing in ponds and in the lake, but and then I didn’t really start fishing the ocean till I moved down to Florida, which was like 2010. Okay. Yeah. What kind of fish are you catching out in Florida? Well, it just depends on the day, but I mean, we do a lot of a lot of like sail fish. It’s more sport, so it’s all catch and release. Blue marlin, sailfish, uh, white mar. Those are big. Those can get really The blue marlin could get big. Yeah. Yeah. Um, and then I do I like to I like to free dive a lot. So, spear fish. Yeah. So, I just I did that last Friday and Saturday. So, you you typically do that when you’re not golfing? If I can. Yeah. If I got the time down the water. It’s much more refreshing, I’d say, than this. Well, this time of year, too. This time of year is nice cuz the ocean’s flat. It’s easy. We run over to the Bahamas. It’s Yeah, it’s really nice. Super nice. And okay, we also want to ask about your teammate Patrick. You and Patrick are both on the fishing boat. Which one of you is feeding the family tonight? Me. Yeah, absolutely. Of course. Yeah. Has Patrick fished before? Have you guys gone? You’d probably be wearing a life jacket. Oh my gosh. I I mean, hey, you got to got to be safe. Um, and opinion on men holding fish on their profiles on dating apps. Have you seen this trend? Do you know about this whole thing? I mean, I don’t look at profiles, of course, so I wouldn’t know, but I mean, I guess it can’t be too terrible. No, let me let me break it down for you. Okay, so I’m not a female, so I wouldn’t know. Oh, yeah. Obviously, I’m married, so I’m definitely not looking at profiles. No. No, of course not. Um there is this trend going on where men are showing that they can fish and typically women are like we don’t really care about that, right? So we thought I can see that. Yeah. Yeah. You know, to these younger men who look up to you, you know, what do you want to tell them about fishing? Um I mean fishing is a hobby. I mean some people obviously do it for, you know, they’re professionals and it’s sport, but uh I like to do it in my off time. Yeah. And it’s okay to post some pictures of you doing it. Just probably wouldn’t have it as my profile pick. Yeah. Maybe something a little, you know, if you play sports, maybe have that as your profile pick. Yeah. Yeah. A little more about you. Yeah. And is would you say Paulina’s more impressed with your fishing skills or your golfing skills? Probably neither. Neither. I would golf if I had to pick one, but but um but yeah, I’m I’m not real sure to be honest. Um and then you’re a big family man, of course. So, rumor has it you want to retire, be a full-time dad. What’s the first thing you want to do with the family once you’re done on the course here? Um, I mean, we’re lucky enough we get to do a lot of stuff, so just spend more time with them. But like, it’s summer time now, so my kids get to travel um with us. So, are they traveling with you on the tour? Yeah, they’re here. Cool. Yep. And they’re going to go they’ll be their first time. They’re going to go to Europe with me and Paulina this year. So, I heard you’re going to Spain next, right? Yes, Spain’s our next event. Um, so they’ll go they’ll we’re going to be in Europe for a month, so Oh, wow. Okay. And do they golf, too? They play a little bit. They play sports, but yeah. Nice. And imagine your family is looking back on all these videos of you. What’s something you want future them to hear? Um, hard work will generally get you what you want. Yeah, it’s great. I love that. Thank you so much. Thank you for taking the time. I love it. No problem. Thank you.
