East Devon Golf Club has been named among England’s “hidden gems”.

National Club Golfer released its top picks of golf courses that have managed to keep green fees at or below £50 this summer.

This comes as prices across the UK have soared, now reportedly four times the rate of inflation.

The average green fee at a course ranked in the UK’s Top 100 has now jumped over 10 per cent, up to £237.

East Devon Golf Club, in Budleigh Salterton, according to the golfing authority, is known for its “enchanting” course towering approximately 400ft above sea level.

With commanding ocean views, it is noted as a heathland layout and is reputed to be among the highest in the country.

Although it boasts these picturesque views over the English Channel, the focus is on the value it provides to golf enthusiasts.

The club’s dedication to maintaining its grounds has made it home to multiple England Golf Championships in recent years.

Other golf clubs that made the list include Kington in Herefordshire, Cleeve Hill in Cheltenham, Seascale in Cumbria, Dunstanburgh Castle in Northumberland, and Bude & North Cornwall.

Kington Golf Club arguably chalks up the most unique offering.

At nearly 1,300ft above sea level, it is the highest golf club in the world.

Golfers flock to the course for its panoramic vistas of the Brecon Beacons and six other counties, and with a summer green fee of just £22, it’s the most affordable club on the list.

Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Course also offers an attractive prospect.

At £45, it offers a chance to play in a setting deemed the “finest coastline in Britain,” overlooking the 14th-century ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle and delivering classic links golf.

From heathland to traditional links courses, National Club Golfer’s list of six offers golf enthusiasts an array of unique and reasonably priced options to relish this summer.
