WSTFA 2025 Golf Tournament Pt 1
From the Ag Information Network, this is today’s Fruit Grower Report. Well into our summer now, with August arriving tomorrow, it’s time to make some plans you may have been putting off.
Jon DeVaney, President of the Washington State Tree Fruit
Association, says their annual golf tournament will be here in just a few weeks …
DeVANEY … “Yes, it seems strange to think about a late summer events, but things sneak up on you pretty quickly. We do our annual golf tournament every August. This year, it is Wednesday, August 27th there at the Highlander Golf Course in East Wenatchee.”
And that, DeVaney says comes at a time when many folks in the industry could use a little break …
DeVANEY … “It’s a great time for people connected to the tree fruit industry to have some socializing after cherries and after the initial start of apple and pear harvest to take a day off and enjoy a little comradery.”
And the funds raised, DeVaney says are put to great use …
DeVANEY … “It’s also wholly to benefit industry charities, and specifically a number of memorial scholarships, in memory of past tree fruit industry leaders, to benefit college students. And those are managed by the Washington Apple Education Foundation, so we have good professional management of those funds.”
