The playoffs start next week. It does. Do you know the format for this week or uh for next week? I was like, “What do you mean for this week?” I was like, “Oh, Jesus Christ. Are you really going to throw me through a loop?” I was like, “Wait, time out. What changed this week?” No. I mean, they changed it like 75,000 times the last like five years trying to get it right. It’s like with NASCAR how they’ve always trying to like change their point system and they never quite get it right. I definitely remember all the NASCAR rule changes. I definitely remember all those. No, you don’t because you’re all stupid. The Win Are we We’re still talking about the Winston Cup, right? No, they cancelled cigarettes a long time ago, buddy. No, it is. The last time I knew anything about NASCAR was It is the Monster Energy Cup. Which is hilarious because my uncle Warren, uh, Vietnam vet, shout out Uncle Warren. He is still alive. Um, somehow Agent Orange, all types of cancer, shot twice, grenade fragments twice, uh, legitimately like my hero growing up. He smoked Winston’s. And when I was growing up and I would smoke Morrows, he would look at me and go, “I’m smoking Winston’s. There’s no additives in these. No cancer. You’re smoking cancer.” That’s what he used to tell me as a 14-year-old. Where’d you get that medical advice from? probably the same VA doctor who said you’re fine with that Asian orange. Yeah, probably. So, no. So, the uh the format actually they’re moving in the right direction at least. So, now it’s down to top 70 make the playoffs. 70 50 and then everybody starts from scratch, right? Yep. So, they’re moving in the right direction at least and then only the top 100 keep their card this year, which you know what that’s favorite part. That’s your favorite part, Steve. Well, no. It’s just that people lose their jobs. Well, it’s because like you would sometimes see a guy be like 122 and he had like one top five finish at an opposite event and miss 75 billion cuts and still keep his card. Like that stuff is like that’s a joke if you keep your card. Now there’s actually guys who are legitimately like outside the top 100 that have had like okay seasons that would comfortably cruise to the next year that no longer can do that. So, it’s not that I’m rooting for people to have their bad job, but just be or to lose their job. It’s more just it’s becoming a lot more exclusive now in order to keep your card and you got to do a little more during the year to, you know, prove it. Like, like for example, Doug Gim right now is uh facing down the barrel of losing his card finally, by the way, because the man I think has four top 10s in like six years of professional play. The guy just has done basically nothing. He’s milked all he can out of the PJ tour. Guys like that are basically on the chopping block. Not like I don’t know guys who should have been out like a long time ago. It’s actually legit guys now that are fighting for their job this week. It’s crazy to me. It’s like so so Tommy and Pete my best friends other than you Steve and and Pete is so getting his kid into baseball. I’m like listen man let’s just focus all this energy into golf. Like you can be mediocre at golf and make millions and millions of dollars and hold on to some magic card. Like it it can happen. Like I feel like you’re way more likely to be able to be a PGA professional player than you are to be a baseball player. Like a pro math the math might not work out based on math definitely does not work out on that. Yeah, but the skill sets and as many people who would play it and have access to it, very different. There’s no Dominican kids down uh hitting rocks with a fake club uh who are going to make it to the major leagues like they do in baseball. Hey, you got the story of VJ Singh hitting clamshells on the beach. Uh you know, look at that. Like that. Yep. There you go. No, I I think the I think His Wagner actually did it. the hottest wagon take rocks and I think your math is wrong about the exclusivity of how good you have to be to actually like make the PG tour. No, I mean look, you’re probably right, but what but what I’m saying is is like like I’d rather focus it on golf where you can at least you get into these events, you can do things like that. Like I mean, yes, there’s 32 baseball teams, there’s nine position players, then there’s pitchers. So that’s what 180. So call it 200 and something guys. That’s 200 something guys in the world. And we’re talking about listen a lot of Latin American players, Cuban, Dominicans, guys who can play. There’s only so many people who play golf, right? Uh the poor kid in North Dakota and the poor kid in Vermont. There’s no Dominicans playing. There’s barely any minorities playing. Like you’re basically playing against a very smaller field, right? While the number might be a hundred less, the pool is much smaller. Okay, that’s a fair point. I guess I was thinking about like it’s not just I guess if you’re talking about just Major League Baseball versus PJ tour, fine. I get that. But like you can make a good living like playing like the Mexican leagues or like the Caribbean Leagues and things like that. Like if you’re not on the PJ tour, you’re basically making unless the Saudis pay you a bunch of money, you’re basically making peanuts. That’s fair. you know, with that living and you have all the travel expenses that the team would pay you versus you’re out of pocket on your own. So, yeah. Listen, listen. These these are all these are all weird economic arguments. I don’t know how we started. Um, however, I did met a guy tell you who I needed who was my construction guy. Uh he said one of his good friends is the live party hole announcer guy and he was telling me how awesome his life is that he just travel and be the DJ and and do these party things and he’s upset that he can’t go to Chicago this week cuz he has he has he has a work thing. So he literally is just he he’s he’s the guy spinning all the house music then right the guy spinning all Wow that is quite the connection. Yes. And I was like I was like I know a guy who was online who is now doing his content for some reason. Can can can we maybe get like inside info of if like DJ’s like flushing it or how Brooks kept his knees looking on the week like may like we’ve stopped doing lib betting content on this show because just nobody listens to it. But if we can start getting inside info and actually give out some winners with that I mean people will probably uh maybe dozens would flock back to us in order to tune back in. Dozens dozens would flock back. And I would also say what does the DJ who is doing god knows what spinning what on one hole can give us. That’s fair. This sounds like the this sounds like the from the old place we came from. Shout out Sean. Uh the puppy bowl uh DM that he got with the inside information that he got [ __ ] hosed. Shout out Sean. Making the money green. You poor prick. Got taken by a fake DM. Yeah. Or the uh the fake uh best director for the Oscars. That was a big Oh, I forgot about that one. Yeah. Well, Yargo something. That was a big thing with uh a certain book that we won’t mention here. So, all right. Well, before we get into it, I had to ask. You’re about to spoil it. I I need to ask what your background is. You never do a virtual background, by the way, and you have 26 plus 6 equals 1. Can you explain to everybody who is not versed on Irish heritage what exactly that means? Yeah. So, it’s 26 southern Irish counties plus six northern counties equal one Ireland. Okay. Yeah. And so, uh I had plenty of t-shirts like this as a kid. Um and look, uh there’s obviously there’s plenty of people in Northern Ireland who don’t agree with this, right? There’s a reason why it’s still separate. But um those of us who grew up uh Irish Catholic uh certainly believe in this and uh even if you’re not Catholic anymore like some people um it’s still about uniting one country and taking uh the lime foot off your neck. I mean there was internment camps up until the 1970s for Irish Catholics in Northern Ireland. Um anybody who wants to watch any type of things just DM me. I will uh Say Nothing is a great show. If anybody needs a new show to watch, Say Nothing. Great show. It’s about the troubles. If you don’t know what the troubles are, Google the troubles. Um, it’s uh it’s a bad time in Irish history. And uh I don’t know. I saw Matt Fitzpatrick on the TV today and I got upset and uh I wanted this. I wanted this on my background. Oh, baby. Well, you’re going to get upset at this show tonight. Matt Fitzpatrick. Oh, [ __ ] off. Seriously, we’ll talk about a little bit. I mean, he’s the he’s the highest he’s the he’s got top odds on the field, so we have to talk about him at least. Yeah, that’s fine. So, you’re betting the top odds on the field. I’m just saying we’re probably going to talk. Clearly, we always start with the top of the board and talking about his chances. So, we’re going to have to talk about him whether you like it or not. Fair enough. Okay. All right. Well, let’s transition into the Windom. So, um, you heard my preview on Sunday. So, I always like trying I did. Thank you, by the way. Thank you. I appreciate you doing another another solo show. Um, I keep leaving you hanging, man. Uh, I appreciate it. Listen, man. Like, your day job right now, it’s you got some stuff going on in the day and if I got to pick it up on Sunday night so you can hang out with your family, see them, all good with me. So, but so you listen to the Sunday preview. I hope you listen to Sunny Preview or maybe you listen to Andy’s show as well. So, where’s your head at for this week as far as like the Windom and what you’re looking for characteristics, things like that. I mean, it’s the same thing that we look at every year, right? I mean, it’s the same profile of golfer. Like, I feel like it used to have more stakes though because it was like people trying to get in. I look at this field and it’s it’s pretty underwhelming. Like, I don’t know. Is it good? I guess. Is it good? Yeah. Yeah. This is better than I think last year’s field. Maybe. I mean, maybe I’m just maybe I just think less of golfers now. Like, so Matty Fitzpatrick 20 to1 and I got Griffin at 25, Keegan 28, Aaron Ry. Like I mean I guess the top of the board’s like I got names but I don’t have good golfers. Well, you also don’t think any good golfers are good anymore except for like three eyes. So that’s not fair. That’s not fair. That’s not That’s not fair. It’s totally fair. You think who I would love to go through the list just like check out like all right does this guy stink or not? And I guarantee probably 95% of that list would stink to you. Listen, I’m a small hall guy, right? So small hall of fame guy, right? So this is only a small amount of guys who are good at one time. That’s it. Like like the NFL Hall of Fame, [ __ ] joke. Uh baseball hall of fame, [ __ ] joke. These are all the hall of goods now. Like the hall of oh these guys were okay or they were nice to the media people. Like no, no. If you’re great, you’re great. And now all these things are just watered down. And I don’t know. And if I’m if you’re looking at this field objectively, is this a good field? Yeah, I think for a for a Windham, I think it’s a good field. See how you see how you’re couching it? You see how you’re couching it? A good field regardless of where it’s at and what it’s doing. Are there I’ll even go 10 10 top 40 golfers in this field. I mean, depends on what rankings you’re looking at, but yes, there no O WGR, you know, that [ __ ] doesn’t matter. What about the data golf rankings? Your No, [ __ ] Oh, data golf. So, we’re going by your So, we’re going by your cap rankings. Your rank? I asked you a question. Okay, fine. As far as like guys playing good right now, top 40 golfers right now. No, not good right now. I said top 10 golfers right now for like for the year. For the year. Okay. Fitz, Keegan, Ben Griffin, Bobby Mack, Hideki. Mhm. A Deckis. Deckies. Deckis. Decki and A are both questionable. But for how I’ll get Deckey one. Decki has won a tournament this year. I’ll I’ll it was a [ __ ] nine months ago. Doesn’t matter. That matters. Absolutely matters. It’s fine. I’ll split the baby. I’ll give you one out of the two. A and Hideki. You get one. Okay. Harry Hollis playing good golf this year. Jake Natson playing good golf this year. Seven. Um Grazerman’s played good golf this year. Okay. Nikolai Hoyar is playing pretty decently. Uh, no. He No, no, no, no. Doc Jackal missed the hide. No shot. Okay. And then he’s not a top 10 golfer right now. All right. Aaron Rod is playing good golf this year. Okay. This is what I’m talking about is that I say a name and I can throw like stats and rankings in front of you and you just look side. No, no, no. No, no, no. So, it’s not it’s not about the side. I just said like like if he was a top 10 golfer, right? Or a top like I guess it’s a decent guess. I guess what’s your point? Like this is a non-signature event. This is the last event before the PL. I’m sorry Scotty Sheffler is not here. I’m sorry your boys like Cam Smith and Brooks Kepka and Terrell Hatton and Rahm and all the guys who are on the live tour by the way are not here right now. We have to deal with and for this landscape of golf. Yeah, I think it’s a decent field. I’m not I’m not even I’m not even a live guy. You kind of are at this point. All you I’m a I like the Lib guys. I’ve watched all of 30 minutes of LIB since this started. So, we tried to host the LIB podcast. That’s great. All right, then. Fine. Like, what are you looking for this week? Like we always look at window, right? [ __ ] accurate. Just just accurate off the tea. Accurate pot like I don’t know. Like this used to be web system web Simpson open. Like he named Yeah, he named his kid after this event. insane. Like insane and I appreciate that. So those are the type of golfers you’re looking for. And so it makes sense for the guys on top of the board to be on top of the board, I guess. Except Peg Griffith played great here, right? Tailing off a little bit now. But like Aaron Ry, Keegan, Ace, Fitz, Glover, I guess Harry Hall, I guess Fowler, like all these guys, they all make sense. Like top of the board, all make sense. just accurate guys. Bought it out. See what happens. Okay. All right. So, two things I found as I was doing my process for the last couple days and I I said on Sunday like some things like, you know, similar to what you say like, “Yeah, I’ll just go accurate guys. Guys are pretty good in Bermuda, chipping up Bermuda, blah blah blah.” Looking back at some of the winners though since like 2019, couple things stood out and I remember last year when we did a show and I talked myself off of Aaron Ry despite we both did despite Yeah. Despite really good form and a great course fit, but there were two things that stuck out. A he sucked at Windom. He was like cut in T71. Terrible course history. Had that going against him. But more concerningly, just sucked on Bermuda in his career and everybody was on him and he was number one tipped as well. Yeah. And that that we did the we made the same mistake twice that year. It was Ricky and Ry. We made the same mistake. Yeah, we did. We got burned on that when the number one most tipped guy that was a great course fit. Didn’t matter at the end of the day. But that’s my point though is that there are things like course history or a Gon takes that sometimes like I like to latch on to or maybe you guys like to latch on to that are reasons to talk yourself off of somebody and at least the last like three winners here. Like you can just throw all that out the window for the most part. You got Aaron Ry who was terrible course history here but just a great course fit playing great. actually had the putter heating up and he overcame all these other deficiencies of Berm Bermuda history and Windham history to still go on and win. Now granted, it took Max Grezman handing the tournament out to him on a silver platter in order to get him over the finish line, but he played great. Like it was a bad take at that point. I forgot. Let’s go the year before that. By the way, let’s go Lucas Glover. Okay. Great course fit, right? Super accurate, good ball striker. Not all that great of Windham history. He played 14 times at Sedgefield before he won. Had one top 10 at a T20 and a bunch of miscuts. And it just all kind of came together for him at the window because he was playing great golf. The putter was starting to heat up, super accurate, and just the course fit itself put him over the top. You had Tom Kim who had never seen this course before and waltz to a four-shot win. That probably should have been an eight shot one if he didn’t quad the opening hole. So, one of the things I kind of focus on this week is less course history stuff or like doubts if like a guy can do it on like Bermuda or like Carolina courses because we have three examples of guys just kind of walking in here with shaky course history but they’re great course fits and I’m just trying to focus on that specifically. Okay. And then there’s one other weird trend that I found that is probably [ __ ] but look it, you know, trends make you feel all warm and fuzzy when you bet something. It makes you feel, it validates your bet, you know, real or not. And confirmation bias. Yeah, it’s exactly confirmation bias. And one thing I noticed is that the last four winners of the Windom all happen to finish top 10 at the Detroit Golf Club and JT Poston in 2019 finished T11 there. And look TA Green there’s absolutely nothing in common between Sedgefield and Detroit. Look at that. Uh one is very, you know, high miss fairway penalty and the other one you can just bomb it everywhere. But you do have a Donna Ross connection. These are Donald Ross greens that you they share. And look, you give me a good architect connection right there. Like that’s just catnip for me at this point. I’m not saying it’s going to be be fulfilling for this, but it’s just something I noticed and maybe may has a little bit of an appearance on my betting card this week. Right. So say one more say for me one more time. How many? Okay. So the last the Rocket Classic. So So the Rocket Classic has been played since 2019. was not played in 2020 because of co in 2021 Kevin Kizner won 22 was Tom Kim 23 was Lucas Glover 24 last year’s Aaron Ry all of them finished top 10 at Detroit Golf Club and if you go back to 2019 JT Poston was T11 there okay so it’s probably more to do with the fact they’re all like guys who just been playing kind of good heading into this event have kind of just carried it but that was just something I noticed and I like the Donna Ross connection and I might have perused a little bit of that leaderboard and try and pick out maybe guys who are good course fits who did well there that might be carrying some momentum into here. [ __ ] I already know. All right. I already can already pick three people. You bet. All right. Apparently, we have somebody who really does not like uh our content. So, what? All right. Who’s bad? I don’t know. Somebody got mad about 10 minutes ago. Probably left. So, what about the cooch? I have no idea what he was talking about or what he was uh referring to. Okay, let’s uh let’s go over the odds board then. So, we got Matt Fitzpatrick, a guy you just absolutely love and adore. Gave you great one of your finest golf memories in 2022. At 20 to1, Keegan Bradley 25 to1ish. These are is I probably have odds. I don’t really care. Ben Griffin, Aaron Ry, Bobby Mack, Jordan Speed, Tedi, Oshay, Sew Kim, Harry Hall, Jake Knap. Let’s cut it off at there. Not damn, we’re going all the way to 50. I mean, okay. I don’t know if we’re going to 50, but like I I would consider that probably like top of the board. Okay. All right. Okay, fine. Talk about whoever you want then. Anybody under 50 to one. Who piques your interest up here? Ben Griffin. You’re betting Ben Griffin. Ben Griffin. Okay. Nobody’s on Ben Griffin. Nobody’s on him anymore at all. Nobody. Like, who’s talking about Ben Griffin now? Now he’s finally missed what he’s missed two cuts in a row. Uh yes, he has. Yep. Two two cuts in a row, but he’s got two top 10s here. Uh yeah, I’m I’m good. Like I like if I think he’s actually good enough where I was legitimately thinking he has a shot to be on the RDER Cup team. No one’s talking about him. Two miscuts, good course history. the pedigree for him around the same guys at the same price like head-to-head between Ben Griffin, Aaron Ry, and Jake Knap. Like, nope. I I’ll take that all day every day. I think 25 to1 is a perfectly fair price. Um, typically I won’t go down that route, but yeah, listen, I’ll take I’ll take Ben Griffin to pop back from the dead Kevin Allen to take everybody’s lunch money and wear his Aviators on the RDER Cup team. Okay. Do you have any concerns he’s playing with Keegan this week? No. I think I think he’ll step his game up. Okay. Interesting. Because because wouldn’t that be like So, listen. So, if you’re with like whatever your relative field is, right? You’re with I don’t know some quant, right? Who does numbers really well, right? And and there’s some math problem off to the side. like I want to get that before he gets it. He I want to show him how he can do it. That should make you better, right? If you’re that type of person, that’s a person I want on my Ryder Cup team. First of all, I don’t want somebody who wilts in the moment and is like, “Oh my god, the teacher’s looking at me and he wants my answer.” No. I want somebody who’s like, “Yeah, Keegan, you know what? Boom. Look at that [ __ ] Iron Shot, son. Suck that [ __ ] to six feet. I’m on your team. I’m on your team.” Like, and that’s what I expect out of Ben Griffin and his aviator glasses. And I can’t wait for it to be clipped and shoved straight up my ass when he misses the cut. I was going to say, what would Boston Capper of seven months ago said that you think Ben Griffin, the guy who always melts down on Sunday, nearly gave away Colonial, by the way, and tried every which way to give that tournament away that he is going to step up under pressure and secure a coveted Ryder Cup spot team in front of his captain this week. What would seven months ago Kapper say to that? Well, first of all, he’s only going to be with him the first two days. Okay. So, he’s only gonna press her the first day. Those are very two important days, by the way. They are very two important days. And I think he can I think he can step up and do it. Maybe fades a little bit over the weekend, but I think it shows Keegan enough where it’s like, do I want do I want young Ben Griffin and his sexy aviators or do I want serial killer Patrick Hantlay who can barely make a top 40 and murders people in the basement? Which one do I want? I want Ben Griffin, by the way. It’s all legend. Exactly. Allegedly. I’m sorry. Allegedly. Allegedly. Thank you. Um, yeah. Give me Ben Griffin over Kante. Give me Ben Griffin over [ __ ] Morocawa. That gutless spine [ __ ] like like we could do the we could do the Ryder Cup thing another day. But we can it’s out of our control by the way who gets picked. So, Capper 10 weeks ago. Benji gutless loser. Kevin, you are 100% right. I got nothing. I got nothing. I don’t know what you’re saying. I’m pliable if there’s anything. Okay. Sometimes I I’ll admit when I’m wrong. I’m definitely not a stubborn person at all. I will always admit when I’m when I’m wrong and I have my faults. Um I would say I would say you’re a little fragile right now. I think that’s uh that’s probably more the uh that could be it. That could be more the appropriate description here. Yeah, that’s fine. But just looking at this field like I think 25 to1 is a fair number for how he’s been playing golf other than the last two weeks. and the fact that he just kept taking our lunch money over and over and over again. We were betting against them and now he’s on like a dead streak and we’re all celebrating his death. This is what happens to us. He’ll pop back up and just take our money again. Like I just it’s it’s just it’s it’s scar tissue [ __ ] and I’ll take my 25 to1 versus like a 14 to1. Okay. All right. Have you bet anybody else under 50 to1? No. No. Okay. So, a bunch of bombs after that. Okay. So, I bet I extended my card a little bit this week. I got two guys under 40 and then everybody else is 80 to one plus. Okay, go over the two guys. Uh, let’s go over the Let’s I don’t feel like getting yelled at yet. So, why don’t we talk about the one that I actually did bet first. And we we’re talking about this a little bit in Discord. Not a lot of chatter about Bobby Mack this week. It’s a lot of Hideki in our channel, a lot of Aaron Ry in our channel. uh a little bit of a as well, but I was able to find a 35 to1 on Bobby Mack. And I just thought that number was wrong based on just how he’s been playing. He’s been playing really good golf and just look at some of the other guys priced around him. I just think he’s a better golfer than a lot of those guys that are priced around him. He’s been driving the ball great, hitting a lot of fairways. Iron play has been pretty good over the last like month and a half or so. Um, I have a little bit of concern about how he’s going to do on Bermuda, but he putt really well at TBC Southwind a couple tournaments and that’s the same aronomy, so I’m good with that. And I just thought the number was truest Bermuda. No, that was bent grass, so that doesn’t that doesn’t count there. But you also look at some of his performances on some of the shorter golf courses like TBC Sawrass. He’s got a top 10. He’s got a couple top 20s at Travelers. He did well at Colonial. Like so even though those might be a little bit more club down courses or maybe mixed driver courses, he did all right. And I just love the number and I think people maybe might be forgetting him this week. I could be completely wrong. Maybe he just doesn’t like hot humid conditions. Even though the, you know, I I I tried to justify that a lot this week. I’m like, “Oh, he went to MCN State. You know, that’s in Louisiana. He’s been hitting his irons great, obviously comfortable on Bermuda, accurate, and why can’t he just carry all the momentum he’s had the last month and a half or so and just go out and win this event? And it’s not like I’m playing single. It’s not like I’m playing 15 to1 on him. It’s 22. Look, I mean, look, I get it. I get it. I get I get it. It’s fine. I guess it’s I guess, man, how weird.
