A small ceremony was held recently at the Kingaroy Golf Club to mark the official signing of the R&A Women in Golf Charter, an international initiative which promotes golf for women and girls.
Club president Christopher Sarquis said it was a significant milestone not only for our club, but also for the wider Burnett region.
“We are honoured to be the first club in the South Burnett to sign the Charter and continue to lead the way in driving positive change within Queensland golf,” Christopher said.
Golf Australia (GA) has been encouraging Australian clubs to sign the charter, which opens pathways to some GA programs as well as access to marketing tools.
“As part of our commitment to inclusivity and development, we are also excited to announce the appointment of two junior members, Ally Sarquis and Flint Knight, to our Ladies in Golf Sub-Committee,” Christopher said.
“This initiative ensures we receive valuable input from younger age groups and provides early opportunities for juniors to gain insights into golf management and volunteer committee work.
“Ally, at just 10 years old, exemplifies the kind of future leadership we are nurturing.
“Our Ladies in Golf Sub-Committee comprises passionate, skilled women who bring diverse experience and expertise to the table. Their efforts have made a remarkable impact on both our club and women’s golf across the South Burnett.
“The committee is led by Jane Franklin, who is truly the backbone of our club. Her dedication, along with the ongoing leadership of our committed Management Committee, continues to strengthen golf development in Queensland.”
Christopher said he would like to acknowledge the support of local MP, Attorney-General Deb Frecklington, and Stanwell Corporation Ltd, whose partnership had played a vital role in the club’s progress.
