Is Donald Trump good at golf? We asked an expert | ITV News
Hi, I’m Danny Mud. I’m a golf coach on YouTube. Got 1.5 million falls. And I’ve been asked to analyze Donald Trump’s golf swing. So, he’s stepping up onto the first te here. So, let’s have a quick look at what we see. So, I love this. I love the flowing motion. He’s loosening himself up. Lovely. Get a bit of a round of applause from the crowd. I mean, one of the things I would say just looking at that there is is this is a guy who looks incredibly confident. Um, I love how he just, you know, stepping up to the shot. He’s got a nice looseness to his motion and basically gets up gets on with it. Gets on with it and gives it a good crack. Most golfers can learn a little bit from that. So, let’s have a let’s have a rewind that back a little bit and let’s see if we can see certain things in his golf swing that we can improve on. I mean, it’s pretty good. I just float down here. I’ve just stopped it there where the club I mean he’s got a very very high left shoulder. So he takes the club away. He’s got a very high left shoulder there. Right shoulder is very very low. You don’t see that with a lot of great players but he does a great job of kind of like fixing that a little bit. And on the way down here recovers the swing very very well. And that impact position there, the clearance of those hips and the full extension of his arms through impact is absolutely incredible for someone who’s 79 years old. That is a pretty good start. So this is just a different view here from above on that first tea. Again, look at the flowing motion he’s got. Love that. Look at that. I mean, that is that is beautiful rhythm. Again, just looks like somebody who’s got bundles and bundles of confidence. takes the applause from the crowd. Well done. Here we are in the fairway. That looks a beautiful looking hole actually. Just looking at that there. Now, what’s interesting here, the sloping lies, this where things start to get if you’ve got little problems in your swing swing or little kind of tweaks that um need improving. This is the sloping lies are are where sometimes you found wanting. Let’s have a look. See what he does here. A little bit the top there. So, ooh, that tough bunker shot there. So, he’s topped that one there again. and just hit the top of the golf ball. A lot of that’s down to the fact that he might not be um adjusting to the different lies on the golf course. Let’s have a look at this. Now he’s looks like he’s warming up before the round. Doesn’t look too happy with that one. Let’s have a look at this again. There’s his little typical signature routine. Few little looseners. Beautiful. Slight loss of balance there. Again, you know, these are things that are pretty normal. You know, that ball looks slightly below his feet there. Again, Blair is his little routine. I think this is all sign of a really good player. You know, the fact that he’s repeating the same process over and over again regardless of what shots gone on before. That’s pretty pretty methodical. Oh, and then we just moved on to the shot there. That’s an interesting Let’s just go back there. So he’s ball balls above his feet there next to the green. Watch this. Catches the ground a long way behind the golf ball there. Face turns over. Hoods it. Oh, big hike to the left. Now look, that was a pretty difficult shot there. Ball’s massively above his feet there. Hasn’t kind of possibly choked down on the golf club enough there. Um clubs got a little bit too close to the ground on the way on the way down. hit the ground and then jumped and closed that face and he’s he’s left himself an absolute horror in that bunker. Let’s see what he does here. Is he gonna Are we going to see the bunker shot here? We are. Well, that’s again. Wow. I mean, it’s not Oh, you wouldn’t say it’s conventional, but um in the way he gets out of that bunker, but very very effective. Very effective. and no pictures on a scorecard. So I’, you know, at the end of the day, who’s who’s to criticize that? I mean, that looks a pretty damn steep bunker. And he’s he’s got out that first time. There’s his signature routine. Look, few little looseners. We can all learn from that. Same thing over and over again. Very, very methodical. A lovely flowing motion on that shot. Now he steps up to a short putt. A lot of movement in that stroke, but again, look at that. So, just like the bunker play. So, not orthodox in his approach there. Awkward looking putting stroke, but again, very, very effective. Still on the tea. Look, there he is again. Look how methodic every shot. Little warm up. Three little warm-up swings. High left shoulder. Beautiful flow through impact. Same again here. Look. See if he sticks with it. Stands up. gives it a good smack. I mean, look at what I would say with all of this. What I what we’re seeing here is is a man that is very methodical in his approach. Um, very very confident. You see with people that are less confident um than this, taking way too long over the golf ball. You know, for him, he just seems to take two or three practice swings, get to the shot, and give it a smack. Pretty impressive. A little chip shot there. Again, look at that chip shot there. So, very, very tiny back swing and a little jab onto the green. So, usually when you’re um usually when you’re watching somebody uh Chip, you want to see a slightly slight longer follow through than that and then allow the kind of momentum to just drop into the back of the golf ball with a short follow through. He’s really jabbed that one on the green, but let’s see the result. It’s super super effective, you know. So, again, you know, no pictures on the scorecard. This guy is getting it done with some or unorthodox movements, but um we see a lot of unorthodox stuff on tour two. Again, here he is with his signature move. Three practice swings. Walk to the shot and smash away. And here we are. This is a This is I’ve seen this over the internet quite recently. He’s um quite unorthodox in his approach. Um, and I think they’re having a friend of the game of golf. I think someone was saying that this looks like cheating. I don’t know what’s going on here. I think obviously you’re not allowed to chuck a ball down on the fairway uh in normal medal rounds, but maybe um maybe what we’re seeing here is he’s just having a bit of fun. I think I’ve seen him throwing a few balls around the golf course, so he’s probably having a bit of fun and probably didn’t fancy another bunker shot. I wasn’t expecting that. I really wasn’t expecting somebody um who’s 79 years old to move that well. Um there’s clearly faults in his golf swing, but you know what? I mean, he’s productive in in his approach. And I think he’s he’s you know, a lot of those faults come from, you know, probably some stiffness and in your body. We can’t always move as we get bit older. We don’t move like we normally do. And um yeah, I mean uh pretty impressive. But, you know, he’s probably got he’s probably got he plays a lot of golf, so you’d like to think he can get it around a golf course.

What a ridiculous journalism. ITV journos should ask Melania if Trump ever gave her a "hole in one."
He plays for a laugh to unwind, it's called a hobby. It's irrelevant either way has no bearing on anything
Who on earth cares! Release the list.
For the amount he plays. If I put in the same amount of time I'd go amateur golfer.
This is much more important than the trade talks. Thanks.
I thought he was former Chelsea defender John Terry in the thumbnail image.
For an overweight 79 year old he’s a miracle.
Interesting to hear from an expert, but I do think this discussion is silly. People obviously have tried to criticise his golf as a personal attack, but that's just petty. Whether he is good at golf or not really isn't important. Anyone who goes too much into condemning another person by their personal life only shows that they're not really someone to trust. You want good people in your life, not people who will criticise every little thing you do only to feel slighted if you have the slightest criticism of them.
Of course he's good at golf lol, this is the most pathetic itv news ever, why don't you report on things that matters, like GROOMING GANGS
Once a cheat always a cheat!
He plays golf several times a week, of course its the only thing he well.. It doesn't stop him cheating though.
He is a cheat doesn’t Mayer how good you say he is playing for a seventy year old who spends hours playing golf. Not sure why you defended his cheating.
Desperate times for the ITV!! This is what they call news 🥱 clown media
did you see that little girl in the background, his grand daughter chloe, she's better… except she doesn't hit that far yet
Itv news SHAME ON YOU !!!!
Donnie trump lives in your head 😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉
I think that he learnt to play as a child, there is no substitute for that sort of "talent".
Who cares? Hes doing it because he enjoys it, not to try out for a tournament.
😂😂😂😂
❤
Just some fun journalism yet look how negative the comments are. Trump is quite good at golf
He's as good at golf as he is bad at governing.
