I recently dove head first into the sim world as I have been loving playing golf, though I’m not very good at it. Thankfully, over the past 2 weeks having a sim in my garage I do feel like I’ve already noticed some improvement in striking consistency.
I do have some questions about the data I’m seeing. I have a Garmin R50 and I can’t seem to get the shot shapes I would expect.
I’ve attached a few pics of some of my better shots from my last garage driving range session.
Even shots that seem like they should maybe draw a bit to me fade out right. The garmin is reading a right spin axis. Also my angle of attack always comes in relatively steep and lower launch angle than I would expect.
Do people find these numbers to be relatively accurate outside of path, face, and carry? Am I overthinking the data overload I’m getting?

I’m not an expert and new to golf simulators as well, so take this with a grain of salt. But I also have the R50 (and love it!)
From my experience, the ball flight data on the r50 has matched what I experience on the range (I’m still too afraid to bring it to the range lol) and course. So in my opinion it’s accurate.
From what I’m seeing in your numbers in general, you have an inside to out path (R) and face angle is close to square or a little closed (L) on most shots.
Based on “ball flight laws” (Adam Young, author of The Practice Manual does a great deep dive on this), face is going to determine where the ball starts and path will end up curving the ball further. If our path was perfectly neutral (0deg) and face was perfectly square (0deg) we get a perfectly straight shot. With an inside out path (x deg R) with a square face should start straight and curve left based on path degree. You also have a shot that’s inside out but face was open (R) so it starts right and is generally referred to as a push (this is my miss!)
I don’t know if any of that was helpful but wanted to share what I’ve learned so far. However if anyone has better information or I’ve made mistakes feel free to correct me! Still learning this crazy game.
I’m not as familiar with Attack Angle so keeping an eye on this post to see what others share.
Good luck!
In the first image those numbers should be producing a fade, your face is open to the path.
Your club path is 0.7 left of target but face is 2.1 right of path which means it’s 1.4 right of target. The ball will start slightly right of target and fade further right.
Face to path is what determines ball shape. Having a face left of path will produce a draw and right of path will produce a fade. This is assuming no gear effect for hits miles out the toe or heel.
In that first image, if the club path was 3 left instead of 0.7 and the face was still 2.1 right of path the ball would start left of target since the face is still 0.9 left of target and then fade to the target.
Hope that helps, also assuming you are a righty. Flip all that for a lefty.
Look up Trackman University if you really want to dig into the numbers if it’s still free.
