‘Swinging’ into action this summer is more than just a game—it’s a chance to empower future innovators. The upcoming Charity Golf Tournament on August 14 will benefit FIRST Robotics Team 1305’s efforts to expand STEM opportunities across North Bay
‘Fore’ a good cause: The long-running partnership between engineers and young roboticists continues with this year’s Charity Golf Tournament at Osprey Links. Proceeds will help fund hands-on learning experiences in science and technology.
FIRST Robotics Team 1305 and the Professional Engineers of Ontario North Bay Chapter are once again proud to partner in hosting the 53rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Thursday, August 14, at Osprey Links Golf Course in Callander.
This event is more than just a day on the green – it brings together golf enthusiasts, business professionals, and community members in support of a meaningful cause. Every golf swing helps provide greater access to STEM education for local students.
An international organization, FIRST robotics fosters team building with a focus on science and technology, business, hands-on technical exploration, community outreach and more. Team 1305 has been very successful in competing through FIRST since 2004.
This year, Harikesh Panchal, alum and mentor of FIRST Team 1305, will step into the role of Tournament Chair, succeeding long-time Tournament Chair and mentor of FIRST Team 1305, Gerry St. Denis, P.Eng.
“The team is grateful for the many years of his leadership and dedication in fostering sponsorship and relationship building,” student lead, Anita, shares, “I’m excited for this year’s golf tournament and so thankful for all the sponsors who make this major fundraiser for our team possible.”
“I am honoured to carry on the hard work that Gerry has put into this tournament; his dedication has created countless opportunities for students to participate in STEM education, just like he did for me when I was a student on the team.” said Panchal.
The golf tournament will feature a two-person scramble with many special events to win prizes and more. You are welcome to arrange your foursomes, twosomes, or even sign up individually! After a fun day of golf we will enjoy a steak dinner with the robots hosted by Osprey Links. The proceeds of this event will go to FIRST Team 1305.
To register, sign up on the Osprey Links Golf Course here.
It is also not too late to become a sponsor! The team will print a custom lawn sign with your logo and display it proudly at one of the holes during the tournament. “This is a fantastic opportunity to support local youth in STEM and showcase local business to dozens of attendees.”
