BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – The world record mini golf hole that made its way to Bangor was donated to a local organization Monday.
After their Unplug & Play event last weekend, US cellular donated part of the World’s Largest Temporary Mini Golf Course to the Boys & Girls Club of Penobscot Nation.
The company turned the 507-foot course into six separate nine-hole mini golf courses and plans on donating each of them to a Boys and Girls Club.
Youth from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America have been working closely with US cellular to plan events that promote healthy digital habits.
“It’s very important for kids to, you know, understand that we have to create healthy relationships with technology and to put their phones down and engage and play together. And that’s really what our Unplug & Play day series is all about,” said Brian Cotlar, Local Marketing and Engagement Manager with New England UScellular.
“It goes right in line with our mission because we don’t allow electronics or phones while the youth are here. So when they’re here, they’re not allowed to engage in any of that stuff. This is going to really help to bring them in and to get them more in a healthy lifestyle that’s very positive. So this is huge. I mean, it falls right in line, super excited about it,” stated John Neptune, Unit Director with the Boys & Girls Club of Penobscot Nation.
UScellular also donated larger-than-life games, like a giant puzzle and their own spin on the game, Guess Who?
