The #1 Golf Course In The World. (Currently)
So when people think of the number one golf course in the world, they think of Pebble Beach, Augusta National, Cypress Point, Pine Valley, but today we are at the official number one golf course on the planet, Royal County Down here in Ireland. We made the trip over here. So excited to be here. The goal today is to break par. I’ve been told that this golf course is very difficult. Okay, it’s windy. All right, I’m just What a test of golf today. the windiest conditions I’ve ever played in. Oh my gosh, I hit that way too hard. We’re going to see just how difficult this is. And at the end of this video, yeah, I want to see if it’s going to break in to the top five of my favorite golf courses. We’ll put that right up on the screen here. This is the list of my favorite golf courses I’ve ever played. Let’s head over to the first te. Let’s get right into today’s video. It’s going to be a grind. Um, from what I’ve been told, it gets hard. Fade heel f a little heel fade going to work out perfect. Here we go, guys. We haven’t done a solo video in a while. We’re going to be trying to break par today. That is the goal. Can we break par? It’s gonna be difficult, but I’m just trying to take this in. This is so special. I mean, look at this walk here. So special. Boy, we’re going to have to hit a hybrid here. You said plane 270. Longer’s battle than short here. Okay, we’re on like the side of a hill here, guys. Oh boy. This is going to hook off of this lie. Here we go. Here goes nothing. First hole. 224 front. Phil says it’s playing like 270 par five. Here we Let’s get off to a good start. Come on. Is that pretty good, Phil? Great shot. Got a we nudge off the mound. Might have hit the m the front. Got a we nudge left. Okay. Come on. Let’s go. I actually kind of needed to see that starting out there. Dude, my stance was like this. I thought I thought there was a chance I’d go up into that high grass on the left. That’s a good start. So, Phil, you said this is the number one course. Number one course in the world. Yeah. In the whole world. That is I mean catting for the number one course in the world. I can’t get too old. Well, some days you got to pinch yourself, but you’re grateful every day you come down here to caddy. Yeah, this is and this is considered a nice day. Well, this be a tough day today. It’s it’s an unusual wind for this time of year. Normally, you get the wind coming plane straight down at the first. So this unusual to come from the Northwest this time of year. Gotcha. Guys, I’m telling you. I mean, I’m a little soft because I’m from Florida and everything’s cold to me, but this feels chilly. We’re going to have to hit some low shots today. You know, you always hear everyone talking about pulling their two iron out. I didn’t bring a two iron for such a good shot. It’s ended up so I love actually. This is a great lie. It’ll break about 5 ft right to left here. 50 yards. Yeah, we’ll get a wee bit of release in that. I want to land about 35. Okay. Cuz yeah, this is where it’s so different than Florida where I’m used to playing in the states. You can land it almost near the pin. This you have to like land it short. This where it gets a little different. Yeah. I got to land this like 35 yards. It’s going to release. Yeah. Good shot. Thank you. There we go. Sit down, ball. Sit down, Ferg. They’re fast. Those things are fast, man. Shut up, Ferg. Fergalicious. How tall I mean, this is Look how tall this thing is. Dude, it’s such a tall bed. Here we go, guys. No line on the ball today. We’re not lining it up. Short putter. It’s been in the bag for a little while now, so it’s a good sign. No, I like that. I like that a lot, Phil. Well, that’s a par on the first hole on the par five. Ferg, you said this place is really hard. Yeah. And you’re playing off the tips as well, so it’s not going to make it any easier. So, breaking par. What do you think my chances are? Solid start at the first always helps. You just need to hit a lot of irons off the te. Okay. Dude, shout out to Furry. He uh he’s helping us film today, but he lives here full time. And he took us out to a golf course yesterday, his home course called Arg Glass. I will say it’s a whole different style of golf. You’re landing these iron shots so short. You’re hitting them so low. And what I’m used to, you just fly everything to the pin. So, dude, this is like I mean, this is giving Pebble Beach vibes right away. I don’t want to compare, you know, I don’t want to say Pebble Beach on this property. Maybe that’s like you don’t say those words here, but it’s giving that feeling. driver. Very tough driving hole here for you. It’s 240 to get out there. You see the black and white post? You want the ball coming down about five yards left of it. Okay, off the left. Dude, this is this is something. I mean, this is really cool. So, just left of that pole out there. Coming down 5 yards left of it. Yeah, we’re on to the second hole here. Par 4. 440 y. [Music] Hit a wind. Should get a we nudge off the left there. Is that in the fairway? Yeah, should be. That was pretty good. That was pretty good there, Phil. Now, I got to be honest. When we decided to play this golf course, we looked at it yesterday. We talked with Ferg and he’s like, “If you want to actually have fun, don’t play the tips.” We’re playing the tips. I accidentally teed off on the tips on the first hole. So, I don’t think we’re going to switch now. It’s too late. Tips. Here we go. Trying to break par. I was going to try and break par from the white TE’s. One up. But now we’re playing it all the way back. This is going to be You guys might see some violent stuff happen today, but so far we’ve kept it in play. We can do that all day. It’s going to be a good one. I mean, come on. Oh, we’re in the fairway, too, Phil. 46 front, 65 flag, 46 front, 65 flag. So, we’re trying to land 75 here. We’ll stop quite quick here. Yeah. Okay. This is a 75 shot. Want the ball coming down there. Five yards left. Winds Indi off the left. Okay, that’s not five yards left. Hold. Hold. Might just fall off to the right there. Oh boy. Sit down. I thought that was perfect. Dude, that right there. See that shot right there is what is so difficult cuz like where we’re from Sky that’s on the green that’s like like 15 ft. That’s a Yeah, that’s a 15 ft shot. It usually lands pin high right. By the end of this video we will rank this golf course and see if it breaks my top five favorite golf courses. We’re only two holes in. We’re on the ocean. I’m a very oceanbiased golfer. I love playing on the ocean. So it’s looking good. But we’ll see. We’ll see if it breaks the top five. I’m actually We’re gonna talk about the list at the end of this round, too. I want to go over my top I think we have a list of 20, Sky. My top 20 courses. You’ll see it throughout the video. Yeah, we’ll see it throughout the video. But here we go. That was actually very close to being bad. Guys, I am inches away from being down off the green. These greens are so small. I mean, you have to be perfect. I I was inches away from being down there. I thought it would actually fall down. Fall down there. Oh my gosh. I’m happy it didn’t, Phil. Now we actually got a great look here into the breeze. Right. Going to be a big swing in this at the very end there. Maybe up around here. Okay. Perfect. I got it. Oh yeah. Right there. Whoa. See, I forgot the stressfree part. Boy, I’m good at I’m I’m good at saying what I want. Sky guy doing it. That’s a whole another story. I can say it though. Just left edge with a bit of pace on it slightly up the hill. Okay. How do you get senior on your car there? You have to be here. So there’s a caddy program here starts off uh so the start off with a green bib and the green bib carries for the members. Okay. And then once you’ve uh once you move up then to a red bib. Red bib then sort of caddies during the summertime and then the senior caddies there you move up into the top after that. Oh, so like when you show up every So it’s like a graduation there. I see. When they see the yellow bib, watch out. They gave us a yellow bib today. We don’t deserve this treatment. We do not deserve this, Phil. Yeah, very good. Well done. Woo! Boy, my mind was racing over that ball. I don’t know what was going through my head there. There’s a lot of bad thoughts, but it went in the hole. That’s the two easy holes out of the way now. Let’s go. Wait, it gets harder from there on out. All right, you guys have probably seen this putter in the bag. We have the DF3. We put this grip on it. Maybe it’s because of Scotty Sheffller. Yes, it’s because of Scotty Sheffler. I have absolutely loved rolling this. Um, if you saw the corn ferry video we played in, the best putting day of my life to this day. Best putting day of my life. So, shout out to Lab. Um, also JJ Spawn winning the US Open using this putter was so cool to see. It’s the first major that Lab has won. And I went to PJ Tour Supertore the other day. Went to go see if I could roll a DF3 just for fun. We were doing something with them and completely sold out. They cannot keep these in stock right now. So, shout out to Lab. They make such beautiful putters. Another driver. Yeah. 210 to clear the two bunkers in the left hand side there. Do you have a T, Phil? Yeah. If Yeah. Okay. If you wear the yellow bib and you don’t have a T, that’s like what? Strike or something. So, you’ll see the cut line there between the dark and light there in the fairway. That’s where you want the ball coming down there. Okay. Same again. Wind’s in the off the left. Oh, no. You okay? You seen a bounce? Oh, I see it. Is this par four? Par four. Good par. Tough par four this today. Oh, no. We were always going to end up in the fescue at some point today. It was always going to happen. But look at this view. I mean, come on. We’re walking along the ocean here. 210 to the front of the green here. Coming across a hidden bunker in the left side. 210 to the front. See the very top of the last mound there? Yeah. See the left corner of it? That’s where you want the ball coming down. The top of that. See the very I’m talking about the big m. See the top left corner of it. That’s where you want the ball coming down. Oh, Phil, it’s on your line. That’s got to sit. Sit. Sit. Sit. Is it long? No, just back right to the green there. Good shot from where you were. [Music] Let’s go, Skye. Dude, that came out perfect. I cannot believe that just came out so good. Came out hot, didn’t it? Oh, that was so hot. Like I thought that was going 235 six iron. Dude, that could have gone like 270. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like this guy. Like zoom up there into the next T- box. Like look at that T- box up there. You have to walk up through that little path. I mean it’s so beautiful. I think for me when I’m rating a golf course as well, when I really like the design of a golf course, I think they use the land like I think they make the golf course fit the piece of land. And that’s what you see there. Like it just feels like that T- box was meant to be there, you know? Yep. Just should be there. We gonna Would you you chip this? Obviously, we would do I would do a bump and run, but you play whatever shot you feel comfortable playing. Yeah. I’m going go a little lower here. Yeah. I know if if Phil got up here and hit this shot, this would probably be like an eight iron and that thing would be starting across. It would just dribble right across the ground. What would you actually hit here, Phil? If I use a sixiron catching Yeah. There’s levels to this, man. That’s crazy. I haven’t reached that yet. Yeah, great shot. Very good indeed. Thank you. Thank you. Come on, baby. Boom. Yeah, very good. Thank you. Nice par again. Come on. Gosh, guys. We are We’re grinding out here, Phil. I’m going to have gray hairs by then. That was a good start there. It was tough start there. First, second, third. Wow, we’re even par after the first haul. Yeah, if we shoot one under today, Sky, it would be the greatest round of my life. One under par today. I’ll tell you, I don’t know how people rate golf courses and the Golf Digest raiders. Um, I know there’s like a whole system to it. This came in at number one, which hey, if that many people can agree that a golf course is number one, that’s a big deal because I’ll tell you one thing, when you ask if somebody likes a golf course, you might get a completely different opinion from three different people. And that is just the beauty of golf and golf course because it’s all subjective, I think. Right. 225 flag. Wind’s coming down off the right here. 225, guys. I mean, it’s got to look at this. Does it get much better? 225. You only need a 200 shot here. So, even though you can’t feel it here, the wind is coming down off the right there. You want the ball coming down about five yards right of the flag. Okay. Stay. Stay. That’s okay there. Just short of pin height. Oh, shoot. We just overdid it a hair. The wind turned to the N. Yeah. Again, that’s a USA shot there, Skye. It’s an American shot. I hit it straight up into the air. Wind got it. Probably should have gone low with it. Come take a look at this lie, Skye. That wasn’t friendly. Look at this. Yeah, that’s not friendly at all. We had a pretty solid shot and now we’re faced with boy. So, you need to keep something as low as you can here. Okay. I’m going to take a little 50°ree. That’s a lot. That’s a low loft club for me where I’m from, you know. It’s going to come slightly right to left here. There not much in it. Little right to left. Just slightly right to left going up the hill. Then it’ll straighten out once it gets onto the green. Okay. Thank you. All right, guys. We’re going with a 50°ree here. Hitting a low one into this hill. It’s got to hit into this hill, bounce up. Hopefully that takes the heat off of it. Set. I just hit it too hard. Nicely played. You could hear that thing. I mean, when it hit into that hill, it was hollow. Oh, man. What a test of golf today. Should should the goal be to break 75? Should we change it? All right, guys. The goal today is to break 80. All right, Phil, let’s do something crazy right here. We have this for par. Our goal is to break play downhill here. It’s going to take a we turn at the very start and then straighten out there. Our goal being to break par today. We cannot afford to make too many bogeies. Is there some birdie opportunities out here? Next few holes, you’ll have a Okay. Cuz I haven’t felt really. I mean, maybe hole one was a birdie opportunity, but other than that, what do you think about the goal of breaking 72, Phil? Is that that be a tough ass today? But after watching the first three holes, he might be in with a chance. Wow. Oh. Oh, that hurts. Oh, that hurts, guys. That takes me to two over par. Okay, we got some birdie holes coming up. That one stings, though. That’s a bad three putt. Oh, there’s hidden bunkers down the right hand side here. You’ll see the white stone in the hill. You want the ball coming down 5 yards right of it. That pin out there. No, you see the white stone here in the second hill. Oh, yeah. So, you want the ball coming down five yards right of it. So, that’s not our green over there. No, no. We’re playing a dog leg right here. Five yards right of that little stone. The one’s down off the right. Okay. That little stone up on top of the hill there. Okay. Is that for this hole that he doesn’t need? Yeah. Ah. Golf shot. Very good. A1. Thank you. That was five yards right. That’s perfect. Come on. Good swing there. Felt nice. Guys, it’s been a little while since we’ve done a solo video and just hung out together. So, hopefully y’all are enjoying today’s video. It’s great to have you here. I just I can’t get over it. I mean, I just can’t get over walking down these fairways looking at this giant mountain out here. I mean, we hit the smallest fairway. This thing is so small. Look, the It cuts in right there to here. That’s And we hit it. That feels like the biggest win of the day hitting this fairway. So, what distance do we want to carry this? You think? Like 125. 125 is all you need to carry. Yeah. Okay. I might need to hit a pitching wedge. It’s either Well, it depends how this wind’s hurting. If you start right at the flag, the wind will move it and you help it. I think we’ll let it move with the wind. Yeah. I’m going to go pitching wedge. You want the ball coming down there 10 yards right of the flag in towards it. Okay. 10 yards right here, Sky. Oh, come on. When we hop forward, get up. Get up. No. The wind hurt it. Oh, shoot. Just short left. The wind hurt that one. Maybe that was a nine there, Skye. Well, well, I would chip it, but yeah, I’m going to go with the chip. I think I’m feeling good with my chipping today. That was pushed it right. Okay. Not terrible. Not terrible at all. Just pushed it a hair. So, it’s just all in the piece here. Yeah. Just play a ball if it’s just fallen into the hole or just inside it. A bit of pace on it. Wow, dude. And I I waited I waited for the gust, too. It’s getting hard. I thought it was perfect. Yeah. Well done. Thank you. That was not easy. I know that’s a twoft putt. That was not easy at all. And I was really scared. And we’re three over par. The wind is picking up. It’s getting really difficult. This should have been a break. Break 85. 396. You like a driver here, Phil? Yeah, it’s into the breeze today. Oh, there’s a breeze. All right, here we go. Hole six. Yeah, good shot. It’s going to bank. Perfect. Thank you. That one’s down the middle. If that one’s not down the middle, I got nothing left. four front 143 flag 124. Wind is hurting. 124 front 143 flag. Wind is hurting here. Yeah. Oh boy. But I feel like if you hit a little fade, it could kind of help it. Just like a one just under 150 here. Okay. Where do we got to land this to hold the green? So this green’s like an upside down saucer here. So you need to be fairly accurate here. You don’t want the ball coming down any more than two yards left of the flag. Okay. Oh no. Okay. It’ll just be just off just off the right hand side. There’s fine. Oh man, dude. Okay, I got to get good. Hey, this is this is teaching me how to control my ball flight. This is good. This is a lesson. It’s coming a wee bit right to left over. Okay, little bump into this hill. All right, Skye, you ready? Sit, sit, sit, sit, sit, sit, sit. Oh, down there. Be careful of the pace coming down there downwind as well. Half a ball left. If it’s just falling into the hole, wind will move it a wee bit. The wind. Oh, dude. I almost just fell over. All right, Phil. We almost Oh, okay. We’re going to We’re Hey, we’re going to keep grinding. We’re four over par. We’re hitting good shots. We’re I feel like we’re making great golf swings. Putting’s tough though in the wind. Putting’s already hard to begin with, but then when you add wind, it just changes everything. Just depends whether you use the wind or fight the wind here. Yeah, you use the wind there. You only need to play 135. What? Okay. You want to finish on the flag or right of it? Okay. No, no. Holy crap. Just depends how firm I bounce it got there. I’ll be down towards the bunker. Oh, that felt nice, too. All right, the tides have changed. I officially am on get it back on track mode. Find a golf swing mode. Make a putt mode. You got to be good in this stuff. I’ll tell you what, it teaches you a lot more about your golf swing than you want to know. And if you’re a little bit off and your spin rate’s not perfect, it’s going to expose every part of your game. And that that’s what is happening right now. We we feel still like still feel great. It’s just you got to hit the perfect shots and they’re not coming off how we need to. So, oh boy, we might be Oh no. Oh no. We’re in the thick stuff down here. Oh no. Oh, it’s a bunker. It’s a bunker. Okay, we have a chance. Do you want to be on the flag or just right of it here? How do we hit here? I mean, well, I think you’re better just trying to fly it up as far as you can there. We went into 56. Yeah. Boy, this is an interesting sand here. Here we go, Skye. Long bunker shot here, guys. Want the flag or right of it. Okay, long bunker shot here, guys. Just got to carry it up top. Can’t see it. I think it’s just a hair far side of the green there. I felt the thud there, Sky. Such a good shot from there. Oh, it’s long, too. Truly though, we could not afford if you come right up here to this mound. If I land it anywhere short right in here, Skye, it’s going all the way back into that bunker. Hey, we had to take our medicine on a 140 yard par three. I just got information that I could putt this off the green. So now we’re trying to two putt on 145 yard par three. It’s the number one course in the world, but could be the hardest. My ball moved. Oh man, it’s a five. That’s a five. Oh my god. Is this a driver hole? I think it’s more downwind. I think three wood would be good if you use the wind. Yeah. Okay. Three wood. I like that. You probably want to start it. You’ll see the spire, the church there way in the distance, not the hotel. See the church, the gray spire. Yeah. Yeah. Probably want to start it on it. How hole is this? Eight. Okay. Number one hole. Number one handicap. Yeah. All right. This is officially the windiest conditions I’ve ever played in in my life. Right now, we have hit it right here. We’ve officially hit it. [Music] Yeah. Good swing there. I can’t believe I just hit that fairway, Skye. Yeah, good shot. Thank you. Oh, that was perfect. I was going like this. All right. Uh, yeah, I think we need to change the title of this video. Um, all right, guys. The goal today is to break 90. Went from break power to break 90 down to break 80. That’s slightly helping, but more across 105 front, 119 flag. This green’s like an up down upside down saucer both sides here. You need to be fairly accurate here. Should we go like a nine iron and just bring it in low? Should we try a shot like that? We haven’t had any success today hitting it up in the air. You’ll only It’s only 105 front. You only need to carry that about 80 85 yards. Really? Yeah. Cuz if you’re going to play it low, it will bounce up here. Okay. I’m I got to change up my attack right now, Sky. We have to change up our plan. This is the hardest hole on the course right here. 119 to the pin. You want the ball coming down five yards right of the flag. No more. I’m gonna go really low. Little nine iron here. Set. Set. Set. Oh my gosh. I hit that way too hard. Nicely played. Just carried it too far. [Music] back. Yeah. 42 just into the wind there. You’re probably better flying it the whole way with a lob wedge there. So, you want the ball coming down about 5 ft left of the flag. Okay. 42 yards. I’m going to try and fly it all the way there. Look nice. Where is that sky? What? Look where it’s at, bro. It spun back 15 feet. It spun back? Yeah. My brain hurts right now, dude. Dude, it literally It landed and spun back 20 ft cuz of the wind. I don’t know how many more oak like my brain really hurt after Oakmont. It’s starting to hurt just as much right now. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Yeah. Well done. What the heck? Okay, we are seven over after eight holes of golf. It’s officially break 90. There’s a black and white post there. Yeah. So, you probably want to start it on it or just right of it and let the wind move it. Okay. Turn over. Turn over. Turn it over. It’ll be all right there. That’s fine. Thank you. Is that too far right? Might be. It should be in the right edge of the fairway. Oh, that felt awesome. Hope you all are enjoying this. Um, golf course is beautiful. I mean, it’s one of the best golf courses I’ve ever seen. Conditions, well, rather touchy. 55 shot. Yeah, you can go 60 here cuz you get a we bit sheltered down here. Okay. What’s it to the pin again? 174. 74. Do we want to? So, you want the ball coming down on the flag or just left of it. Okay. Turn over. Turn over. Oh, I caught it little turn over. Just caught the end of the mound there. Oh, did it stay up in there? It’s hard to tell. You might get a kick forward there and go down into we valley. Oh, shoot. What do you got there? 60. Yeah, I got a 60. You probably just want to land that there just around front edge of the green. Okay, look at this guys. We just caught this mound. Pretty bad break. I mean, it wasn’t that bad of a golf shot. So, just front edge. Front edge is where you want to leave landed. Yeah. Okay. Thought it would have a we bit more. Come on. Left. Come just a little left. I’ll take it. All right. We’ve got that putt to shoot eight over on the front. We are bogy golf right now. Little right to left. See that? Start right to left and then it’s going to straighten up the last three or four feet. So right edge just outside it. Yep. Just be careful of the pace coming down the hill there. Yep. That stay left. That right there could be my highest nine holes on the channel. And I truly feel like I did not play that bad at all. No, you’re hitting your driver on a rope. I I hit T- shots felt great. Irons hit a lot of good ones that just it’s not the right shot shape. You have to you have to fade it in there against the wind, do all these certain different shots. It doesn’t feel like a a nine holes that I’m embarrassed by because I feel like I hit the ball great. Um putter got away from me, but T- shots were awesome. Iron shots hit a lot of good ones that just didn’t work out. So on this back nine, we got to figure this out. We’re going to have to hit some fades and try and like spin it in there, land it softer against the wind, maybe bank it off the wind, not use the wind, um, and just kind of change up our our attack plan. So, let’s let’s head over to the 10th T here and let’s formulate a game plan. 197. Normally, you need to run it up here, but just into the wind, you can hold it onto the green here. And we want to land this what number? You want to land it in between the flag and the bunker on the left. Just think if you use the wind there, you’re going to you get a we bit of gain on it, but it bounces around the front of the green’s good here. Well, I’m gonna have to try and hit some fades here on the back nine, guys. It’s the only way we’re getting to stop these golf balls. My gosh, what the heck is that? You okay? Just right the bunker there. Woo. So, the Irish Open was held here in 2015 and the winning score was overpar that got into a playoff. I think it was like one over. got into a playoff for the winner. So, I didn’t realize any of this. Like, I was just told this was the number one golf course on the planet. Was not told how difficult this was. So, it’s humbling. This is really, really humbling. I might shoot 90. We We might fire a nice 90 today. Oh, down, down, down, down, down, down. Hair too far. You can see that ball just like floating in the air. Like it gets to a certain point when I’m hitting these wedge shots and it’s almost like freezing in in the air. I’ve never seen anything like it, Scott. All right, same again. Just be careful of the pace coming down here. Fast again. Yeah, just right to center. Right to left a little bit. Just right to center. Yeah. Well done. Good. Oh, that is so weird. That’s really weird there, Phil. Well done. Good straight. Thank you. First time. And I’m not trying to make excuses. It’s the first time we’ve kind of been blocked out by the wind, Sky. See this mound here? And it wasn’t as windy when I was putting. I could actually stand still. I I got to figure it out. Being 6’4 when you’re in the wind, I’m like this today. So, I think I got to get low about there. Par five. Par four. Tough hole into the breeze today. Oh boy. So, see you must coming down at least 10 yards left of the black and white post. You have loads of room even left of that. Okay. Wind’s in the off the left. All right. Well, guys, all I can see is a post. So, we just got to trust Phil here and hit it. It’s a blind T-OT par4. Good shot. Very good. Left side of the fairway. That’s pretty good shot. It’s on the left side. In case you guys do not know, we are here for the major cut Royal Port Rush. the open edition. I think that video is already out. So, go make sure you check that out. Hopefully, I played better because I’m filming this the day before. So, we’re filming this the day before we head to the major cut. Hopefully, I played better than I did today cuz tell you what. Right. So, you have 65 front. So, I like a 70 shot here. I’m going to use the wind. 70 total. I have an eight iron. If I land this short, may take one more. I think it might be seven. Is it uh Is it hurting? It’s sort of hurting off the left here. Okay. You want the ball coming down. You see the bunker left edge of the green there in between it and the flag’s good. Can I bring it in lower? I would come in with a wee bit of height in this one here. Okay. Cuz it is quite firm around the greens. Okay. Oh no. Work out. Work out just a little. Yeah, it’s going to be all right there. Back right of the green. Is that on the green? It just be in the right corner. Right. This for the first cut. Okay. So, it normally breaks slightly left to right here, but the wind’s going to move a we bit right to left. Put a couple of cups right of the hole. Perfect. No. Oh, it did. Never mind. That’s that range, Phil. We just keep leaving oursel with that range. Yeah. Well done. Good. Up and down again. Oh, Phil. This is getting weird. This is getting weird. I’m numb right now, Sky. We’re numb. We’re happy, but we’re we’re just here, right? Two hidden bunkers down the left hand side. First one’s in play off this T. You see a grass path just left of the yellow T marker. You want the ball coming down just right of it. Okay. When’s in the off the left, just right of that little path. You get the ball coming down on the flag. Even perfect, but gosh shot. Very good. We’re back, Phil. Very good. The famous last words. Look at it go across the fairway. I don’t even know if that’s in the fairway yet. I mean, I saw it literally. Did you see that land, Skye? So, it’s 240 front here. There’s two hidden bunkers. If you keep coming here, you’ll see down the right hand side here. 240 to the green. 240 front. Wow. But it’s kind of into the breeze, right? It’s in the off the left. You have two options. One’s to lay up or one is to have a pop at it. Oh, we’re popping at it, Phil. We are definitely popping at this one. So, you’ll see there’s a grass path there just to the back left of the green. Yeah. So, you want the ball sort of coming down the right edge of it. Okay. Oh, no. Okay. All right. He took a hounce bounce there just right of the bunkers. It’s okay. I’ll get a shot in from there. Oh, shoot, man. Good strike, too. Okay. Just kind of overcut on me a little bit. Are you kidding me? The luck of the Irish, as they say, right? Look at this. Wow. We’ve had some crazy breaks today. We had the one where it went down 40 yards down that path, but we still got a long one here. Let’s focus up. Right 30 yards. The flagger. A break in slightly right to left. Whoa. Just took a big first bite. Yeah, I loved it. I hit it perfectly to my spot I picked out. That’s interesting. There, Skye. Some of them have been nipping today and then others do that couple on the left. Okay. Oh, yeah. I see it. No. Oh, shoot. We need to get one birdie today. We need that infamous birdie. That’s three pars to start out the back nine. So, I guess this course you can make pars. It is doable. Um, the wind’s kind of calmed down. I think that’s the big difference right now. It felt like for the bogey streak we had, the wind was blowing 354 miles per hour. Like the ball was literally moving and I cannot remember a time in my life where I was playing golf and the ball started moving because it was so windy. I’ve had it almost move but never like that. So that’s the windiest conditions I’ve experienced. What do we got here? Par four. So par four lane’s just down the grass path there. Wind’s indie off the left. Just try and hug the left hand side as tight as you can. Okay. Golf shot A1 there. Thank you. Yeah. Very good. Thank you. Sit there. That’s perfect. Here we go. Woo. Well, as we’re walking up to our ball here, I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you guys for this year and for changing Sky and I’s life. Um, y’all are so amazing. This has been nothing short of I I don’t even have a word to use to just to just say how grateful we are for this year and everything. When we post a video, we can feel it. Y’all jump on the videos. We read your comments. And just y’all being a part of this has been so special. And so, thank you. And for everyone that comes up and and says they watch the videos in person when I run into you guys, it’s the most amazing thing and never take it for granted. So, tell you one thing, I didn’t think I was going to be playing the number one golf course on the planet and filming it for a golf video, but here we are. And y’all are amazing. [Music] What do we have, Phil? 170 front, 183 flag. just feels sheltered here, but the wind still is blowing there. Are we going right at that pole? So, the flag is just left of it here. It’s just the way the wind’s blowing today there. You You want the ball coming down just left of the pole. Okay. So, just left of that pole. You see the top of it? Yeah. I have a seven iron here, so I think that should be good. Might need to go a wee bit. Where is that? That was Yeah. Great golf shot. About 15 ft left of the flag. We’ve got about 10 ft for birdie. I’m nervous. You should be. I haven’t made a birdie all day. You should be nervous. Like it’s always that first one that’s hard to like get. You know, that first birdie is always a little bit difficult. Just going to break the ice. Come on. Well done. I don’t know how this is happening. Good three. I don’t know. There he is. I guess we’re back. Some would say. No, we’re not back. We’re far from back because we’re we’re playing good on this back, but you just got to be ready. You just got to buckle up. Par three here. 200 yards. 211 flag. I think I need a wind off the left. I think I need a four. Five if you flight it, but you would need to keep her sort of down. You can see the wind’s sort of gusting there. Less club. We’ve been going long all day. Yeah. So, went straight into it slightly off the left coming from like 11:00 there. So, you probably want to start it first. Uh, see the T- marker just left of the flag. Yeah. Over there. And bring it in low. Correct. Keep her down. Keep a flat flight on it. All right. We’re going low here, guys. Par three. Here we go. 210 yards. Oh no. Sort of floated a wee bit, didn’t it? Yeah. Terrible. It’s okay. There. Not it. There. Oh, boy. This is interesting. Here, put the club face up there and play it like a bunker shot. Okay, stay there. Stay there. That was well played out of that lie. Thank you. Down. Down. down. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Right, just be careful of the pace. Last 15 ft’s going to play downwind here. So, we got to go way out left. Yeah, let’s take the high line here. Great putt. Very good indeed. That’s class there. Thank you. Well done. Here we go. So, even though you can’t feel it here, it is downwind off the right here. It’s not driver. Don’t need driver. There’s a run out here. 285. I love this hybrid. This one of my favorite clubs. So, it’s 205 to the top of the hill there. Plus, it’s downwind as well. Yeah. Let’s hit this. Oops. You’re okay. So, dog leg right here. You want to try and hug the right half of the fairway as much as you can here. Okay. So, you see the gor in the distance here? see the right edge of it. Yeah. Is that that big hole up in the mountain? Yeah. Perfect. And the wind’s coming off down off the right. Okay. Stay there. Yeah, it’s good there. I’ll be in the fairway. That That was coming out pretty nice, though. That came out kind of hot. So, we’ll see. It just Man, that wind, you can’t feel it when you get in here. Feel like this back n like there was that stretch from holes 3 to nine that I mean it was going like that was 40 it’s probably 30 to 45 miles hour of wind gusting but now slowed down a little bit but it feels like it’s definitely manageable. So it’s 191. I like front of the green here. I don’t like going up because it is quite narrow up the green. Okay, front of the green 191 when is down off the right. So can I hit a low seven iron here? Can it run up? Should I hit more? I think that might be too maybe too short. No, too much. No, it’s it’s definitely not. Uh, but what’s like two something to the pin though, right? Yeah, maybe one. Maybe one. So, it’s probably 205 to the pin there. Yeah. Yeah. I think this is little flighted down one. Come on. Let’s learn from our previous ones. Let’s hit a good flighted down. The wind’s more off the right. It is helping. It’s more off the right. Yep. Turn over. Yeah, nice shot. Oh no, it’s short. That’s okay there. It’s a good place to be. Oh, I got it up. I banked it too much off the wind. Oh man. I say it just sort of floated up the first 100 yards there and took it off it. Wow, this is fun. I could putt this. You could. Okay, so normally breaks a wee bit left to right here, but I think the wind’s going to move it over. So, probably about a foot right to left there with the wind. And I can land this probably just on Oh, yeah. You got 56, have you? Yeah, 56. Let’s bring this one in low. Nice shot. Very nice. Thank you. Thank you. For fun. I want to putt this. Oh no. Oh no. Oh, it might have been the putter. No, it was the putter. Little right to left. It’s got to be edge. Yeah. Yeah, I like right edge. I do too. Okay, right edge for the par. This is big chance to still break 80. [Music] Brilliant. Very good indeed. Nice. Right when I hit it. I can’t believe that just went in. I almost like stopped my backstroke. Shout out to lab. I didn’t even make a I hit that off the heel and oh man, it gusted, guys. And I’m not even kidding. You should slow-mo that. I literally like hit it off the heel and fell backwards. I got to get like I got to get here. Here. Is this drivable? Yeah. 320 flag down wind. Here’s the situation, guys. We have a chance now to break 80. We were on break 90. Watch. Um, we could still shoot 90, but it’s looking good. It looks like we’re gonna break 90. Now we’re trying to break 80. Oh, Skyler Mlan. Be right. Zoom in. No. Go. Short. Short. Thought we ups slope at the top. I think it stays there. Perfect. Another two yards and that was all. Dude, I thought that had a chance. Man, I told you not to ease up on it, Grant. I know. I eased up on that. All right, it is getting closer to the time where we are going to rank this golf course. It’s looking good right now. That’s all I’m going to say. I’m not going to give it away where I’m going to rank it, but it is looking really nice. Once again, we’re going back towards this mountain. Just look at this. I mean, come on. How beautiful is that? What club have you got there? 60. I was going to try and carry it just past this little So you’ll see you only need to land that maybe about a yard onto the green there. We’ll come about a foot left or right overall. Okay, perfect. And sort of all downhill last 15 ft. Okay. Run out. Run out. Run out. Oh, great effort. Great shot. It’s an inch. An inch from going in landed. It almost went in. Great shot. Boy, it was tracking. Yeah. Well done. Good three. Thank you. You’re actually unlucky with your T-shot. If you had a couple carried another couple of yards there, you’d have cuz it just went straight into the hill and took the landed right into that hill. If we were more to the left, it had a chance. But wow, we’re one under on the back. I If you would have told me I was even going to scare one under on the back, I would have told you you’re crazy. three-wood just bank it off there. So, you want the ball coming down. You see the two left bunker, two bunkers up the left hand side. So, you want the ball coming down finishing there. So, you probably want to start it on the flag or just right of it. Okay. Yeah. I don’t think we can reach a 3-wood. There’s no way. It’s a far three-wood. Oh, no. Stay stay. What’s over there? The valley down there. It’s not great in there. Do you want to hit another one just to be on the safe side? Yeah. It’s just hard to see it bounce. It’s okay there. It’s no problem at all, but it’s just hard to see it bounce with the sun. Let’s go find a golf ball over in the left stuff. As long as we can find it, we got a chance. That’s it. Tell me that’s it. Oh, you okay? That’s it. That’s it. Thank you, Phil. Where is it at? Oh, it’s down there. Yeah, I see it. Okay. Hey, what do we do here? Can we go for it? Let me get your yardage here. We’ll get it. Yeah, we’ll get it back in play, dude. Poor Oh, man. 162 flag. Do you want to go down and have a look? I’ll bring a few clubs down. It’s only 62. Okay, we have a chance. Let’s bring a few. Bring uh 7 8 9. Just watch yourself down there slipping. I saw what you did. Hopefully, we don’t do the same. The problem is you’re sort of going out into the wind here first. Yeah. Your line’s going to be this way here. If you’re going to have a you get an eight iron up that way. I have a seven. I think I need an eight. So, just don’t Can you get a seven up that quick? I don’t know. Right. So, that’s you on the flag there. Yeah. Should we go eight iron to be safe? I think you’re better. There’s no trouble going to be. So, you probably want to start it somewhere around there. It’s going to be short. Yeah. Yeah. The wind’s going to move it. Okay. All right, guys. Hey, don’t worry about your distance. Just got it over the top of that there. Yep. All right. Put it back in play. Come on. Oh. Whoa. Dude, it like bounced off of it just right at the green there. Wouldn’t never moved it at all. Well, I hit it. It like ricocheted off. I heard it clip the edge of it. It actually kind of came out. Nice. Is that short of the green? No, you’re around pin high. But I say the wind the wind never moved it. Never moved it at all. It’s pin high. Wait, where did it finish up? Right of the pin. Yeah. So, you see the first bunker? There’s another hidden bunker just past it. It’s just to the right of it. Actually got a we kick left. That was hit. Awesome. I was waiting for the wind to move it and it never touched it at all. No. Can’t believe we made it all the way here. Depends how fancy you want to be. You can roll her up there if you want, but I would just favor the right side here. Maybe about a foot right of the flag. Is it going to be pretty fast? You’re It’s actually gone up the hill, but it’s because you’re downwind here. Yes, it will play. It will be quick. Okay. What club have you got there? 60. I would only land that maybe 2 yards on. Okay. Oh, sit, sit, sit, sit. Hit it too hard. Just a hair too hard. Oh, shoot. Man, did you see the wind holding it up there? Oh, it started gusting. Did you see it there holding up? Oh, I felt it. It started picking up right when I was about to putt. Okay, that’s a bogey. Oh, come on. One more to go. So, it’s three. See the last two bunkers up the far right there? 330 to the one there. Can we reach this in two? You can. Oh, yeah. 540. So, we’re trying. Same again. The wind’s more It is slightly down, but it’s more off the right here. So, I started up the sort of in between. See the last two bunkers? Yeah. Just to split the two of them. Start off. Just let the wind move it. Yep. Stay. Stay. Stay. Bounce. Right. Come on. Oh, it bounced right. Okay. It’s okay. There it did get a good bounce. Boy, that could have bounced into that bush. Okay, that’s fine. We might be able to go for it in two from there. Just started it too far left. You got to really trust that wind is going to pull it left. I’ve kind of noticed playing in the wind when I get to watch Phil and all these guys play in the wind. It feels like they always like are banking it and they’re kind of using the wind and I don’t really think about it enough. So, it’s cool when you when you play with those guys. They do help you a lot. They make you think about the wind and how to bank it off of it. It’s really cool. Interesting lie here. It could jump out of there. It really could. What do we have? Right. 240 front. Can we go right for the pin here? Where is you see? You need to walk up here just to better walking up. Do you see it here? Yeah. I can’t. It’s going to be like a dog leg left. The rut sort of cuts in here. You have got the wind helping you from the right, which when you hit your shot here, you’ll be able to see that white flag pole. You see that? Oh, we’re the maintenance crew. Yeah. So, you see the see the white flag pole. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, you want to be you want the ball coming down 10 at least 10 yards right of it. Okay. Might want to hit a four iron. Five iron. I don’t know whether you get four up out just on the slope there. Oh yeah. It might not come out. Maybe like six iron. Yeah, that could that could come out funny. I even think six is going to be tricky to get up. I think you’re better just playing like a seven or eight iron up there. Yeah. Yep. Let’s go. Seven. Have you got seven? Wind is picking up a little bit right now. We got to get this one in play. Come on. Oh no. Oh wait, turned into the rough on the left there. That one right there. Grabbed my club a hair and turned the face. Let’s see where we’re at. Oh no. This is tough. We just need to be careful here cuz you’re not going to get much spin at this. It’s 101 front of the green here. Okay. See, again, everything’s sort of like an upside down saucer. Yeah. Ideally, you want your ideal line coming down here is just you can only go no more than a yard left of the flag. Okay? And if you landed 10 yards short, it’s going to kick hard right here. So, you need to be spot on with the yardage here. So, 101. Boy, I might want to hit a 60. I I if it was me, I would hit 60 and hit it hard. Yeah, cuz it’s going to jump a little bit. Yeah. Okay. So, it’s going to go again. Wind’s off the right here, so we’ll we’ll move it in the wind. All right, guys. This is our biggest shot of the day. So, land it maybe at the guy. We’ll aim at him and then just let the wind move it. Yep. Stay, stay, stay. Oh jeez. Took a bounce left. Did stay. No, I think it just fell off to the left. Yeah, that was a yard from being perfect. Got to chip it in. You got to stay out of the thick stuff here, man. I just think if you want to hit your 50 there, you need to hit either like a six iron to I want to putt it. I want to make this putt to break 80. This is not going to be easy, but I think we have a good chance here. So, we’ll break left or right once it gets onto the green. What’s your line there? All right. I’m going right on Phil’s line to break 80. Oh, it went right. Sit, sit, sit. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Come on. Here we go, Sky. I think the wind’s just going to help it a wee bit in here since it’s just out the right edge. Right edge. Okay, perfect. Oh, I thought I hit that plenty hard. What a day. What a day. Phil Graham, thanks very much indeed to meet you. Thank you very much. That was awesome. All right, guys. Well, that wraps it up for today’s video. Still can’t believe I got to play here! Let me know what you think of the course 🙂
The POV with the GoPro was never the move 😂
When you asked, "Is that OK Phil?", I was expecting Phil Michaelson 2 chip in. Didn't know was just you & your caddy. I'll see how you make out. Just wondering, where are all your friends? No not your camera guys, the Bryson's or Bob Does Sports, Phil, Scottie, Bryson of Jon Rahm? You need 2 make a pitch 2 Joaquin Niemann 2 play with you. Joaquin owns the LIV Golf Rooster. He just keeps winning & not by 1 or 2 strokes. This man has got game & hardly ever makes mistakes. the few mistakes he makes, he makes a miraculous save 2 save par. As Tiger was quoted, my best shots are the 1's where I saved par! Saving par doesn't hurt your scorecard.
You should play Fairmont Banff Spring golf course Grant!
Oof Grant couldn’t even throw his boys a bone and put Solina on his top 10 😬😂
Grant you need to play in Australia on Melbourne's famous sandbelt courses, a collection of about 15 courses within 30 km of each other. It's golfing heaven. Royal Melbourne, Kingston Heath, Metropolitan, Huntingdale, Victoria, Yarra Yarra, Kingswood, Woodlands, to name a few. Once you have played these, your ratings will change. Cheers, hope to see you in Australia one day.
Druids glen is a fabulous course in Wicklow,Ireland
Nice to see you playing some uk golf and having to deal with some of our golf problems 😂 my tip for uk golf is never ask for the number to the pin only ever the front of the green number 😉 would also love to see you play some tree lined courses over here thats also a entirely different challenge
Luv u grant
Grant you're
the best, but the wind issue with you putting isn't because you're 6'4 haha, its because you weigh 120lbs soaking wet
my favorite course. so expenive though
Beautiful place and there's just something special about Ireland.
How about Turnberry since you’re already across the pond! Just a thought.. Love the content Grant! Keep doing your thing and I look forward to seeing you in the PGA or LIV!
The par 3 on the 4th hole Grant! What does Bryson always say on his break 50 series? The par 3's! Need I say more?
Love the video. Been a fan for a long time. Too* and Straits* gotta be better Sky
Love to see a Bandon dunes video
Tough course!
It is nice to see a Missouri course in your top ten.
Pretty Cool!
Have you ever played the courses at Bandon Dunes. I personally like them all and would love to see a video with you playing all five.
what the fuck is that thumbnail, nightmare fuel???
Absolutely agree when Grant said that he judges amazing golf course by how they use the existing land. I absolutely agree. Just feels natural. Like GOD put that their for golfers to enjoy. This was an awesome video Grant!! Thanks for taking us with you guys all the way to Ireland.
What a great video from Grant! This guy is the definition of YouTube golf. Why play in a pga tour event when you can produce this kind of content!
That being said, come play a scratch match against a scratch golfer in England and let’s see how good you really are 😇
🤣🤣 Definition of golfing entertainment ………………………… watching the yanks trying to play a breezy links course 🤣🤣
They told you not to play the tips!
For those who don’t know LAB got acquired by a private equity firm. I’m sure the price of putters is gonna go up
Great video. Grant against a links Course and the elements. Priceless
good vid thumbnail is crazy lol
My buddies and I played RCD where hail was blowing of the ocean in waves – temperature about 3C. What a tough round of golf – couldn't break 100 as a 14 handicap.
Grants Irish accent that comes out is hilarious
That thumbnail is mildly cursed 🤣😭
I paint golf courses for a living, and love the look of Royal County Downs. I’ve painted it before, but it scares the bejesus out of me to play it.I absolutely love the singles videos. Please keep them coming.
Kings Barns Amazing
Ireland is such a beautiful place.
I think I would be so distracted by the scenery that I would have a hard time even playing golf.
Grant buddy. Here’s a comment and I will leave a like! 👍 but windy golf is hard to watch 😭
Dude, Grant…THIS video felt more like a (for me, anyway) relatable round. Trying hard, fair results. Love it. BTW Great people, the Irish.
Hi Grant, great job. Check out St Enodoc Golf Course in Cornwall England. It's rated # 4 in the UK. Not a long track but I challange you to shoot par. It was one of Tom Watsons top courses to play when he came over to the UK
Turnberry is the best. Sorry 0:09
Good things come to good people
Omg f.gud 😅😅😅 if 👁️ hade 1 boll left after 7 a be happy 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🇺🇸😂😂😂
+8? Grant you playing without competition isn't the Grant we're used 2. Yes I hear you on the wind, however you are outdoors in Scotland on the Ocean. Please stop with the excuses. I see the pros always hit low when the wind is whipping.
I still think I’m going to consider Augusta National the best on the planet. However, I haven’t played either.
Thanks, Sky and Grant. Couple courses for your ocean rota: Olde Head in Kinsale, Eire and Cape Kidnappers on the North Island of eNZed!
Beautiful course but to travel that far for a beat-down? I'm playing Spyglass (1st time} & Pebble (3rd time) in October and seeing them at the top of your list gets me pumped!! Thanks Grant, you've single handedly restored my faith in the game. Blessings!
Than again there's the PGA I LIV pros vs the YouTube creators. Only 1 or 2 can be considered pro's. You do know only 1% of golfers worldwide handicap at par, even less at below par.
#1 golf course is Solina. @bryanbros
