Jordan Speed’s Rder Cup hopes take hits after disappointing Open performance. Jordan Speed’s struggles at the 2025 Open Championship have added to a challenging season. The 2017 Open Champion finished outside the top 30 at Royal Portrush, posting rounds of 73, 69, 72, and 68. Monday’s updated Ryder Cup standings delivered more bad news with Spath falling to 26th place in the US rankings. He is now far from the top six automatic qualifying spots and trails several players in contention for captain’s picks including Justin Thomas, Colorawa and Keegan Bradley. Despite his encourse difficulties, Spith took time to praise Scotty Sheoffller’s dominant open victory. Comparing Sheffler to NBA MVP Nicola Joic, he said that’s what Scotty’s like, an unassuming superstar. With limited events left before Ryder Cup selections close, Spith faces a steep climb to secure a spot on Team USA’s roster. Friends, what is your opinion about this? Share in the comments.

  1. Jordan Spieth is old news. How many years do we have to be directed to agonize over a now average golfer? Morikawa is getting to that category AND he is getting testy as he counts his millions. But no one has been a bigger tempest in a teapot than Fowler. The commentators treated him like a superstar while he never produced major winning results. Shocking. Fowler’s only star quality is that he rode dirt bikes and got an Olympic tattoo. With the tour’s self-inflicted destruction due to split fields, these guys are only news because half the top 50 can’t play. JT is kind of entering the has been category too. It’s not hard to expect this when, for years, we are forced to consider Tiger’s chances of winning when he can’t make cuts. And now he is charged with saving the game when all he cares about is bigger pecs.

  2. Jordan Struggle Spieth I feel so bad for this guy! I always watch him if the cameras follow him, but only until his STRUGGLES begin because there doesn't seem to be any solution once they start!! I still think whoever got in his head about the swing he had and convinced him he needed to change it used his destruction!!

  3. Simple, if he's not made the team by merit he will have to wait until 2027, he's not played well enough.

  4. That par-3 12th meltdown at Augusta years ago was the start of his end as a "relevant" golfer. He's never been the same. Another "coulda been".

  5. No way he will be on the team, he’s a good guy, but he hasn’t come close to earning it.

  6. Jordan’s been injured and recently had to withdraw the week before due to that injury. He might not ever return to his best previous golf but stop piling on an injured guy.

  7. Performance trend lines and success’ are determined on how well you are playing at the time. That’s the point of competitive golf, you get paid for performance.

  8. He is my favorite golfer, but he just is not playing good enough to be in the conversation at all. I hope he may sometime in the future get that magic back because he is so fun to watch.
