Jon Rahm spoke to the media ahead of LIV Golf UK, where he was asked:
– How much would you enjoy playing in the Ryder Cup in Spain in 2031?
– Should Sergio be the captain in Spain?
Yeah, I mean it would be absolutely incredible to not only to continue playing Ryder Cups, but to be a part of one and playing one at home. Yeah, I don’t think I can describe it. I mean, you know, both Paris and Rome so were so incredibly special that to think of playing one in Spain, I I really couldn’t put it into words. Uh, and knowing that, you know, if some things smooth over in the world of golf that Sergio could possibly be the captain of the Ryder Cup team, that it also adds to it. I I really don’t know what to what I would I wouldn’t know how to how we feel. Uh, there was certainly some pressure that comes with it, but it truly would be a dream come true, right? That’s only I think there was that I can remember four Spanish people that were involved in that Rder Cup with Sevi Miguel was a vice captain uh Oi playing and then Nacho Ario playing as well. So it’s only four people that can say they’ve done that and I don’t know how many players can say they’ve ever played a ride a cup in their home countries. Not many. So it’s um besides the US team obviously but it’s it’ll be unbelievable. I you know I’m very happy that it’s happened. I’m hoping that somehow or another I can be a part of it. Yeah, I think so. I think there’s something to say about possibly having a obviously a local captain, right? I think it would do it would do wonders for the crowd and if history shows us anything and it’s hard very hard to compare anybody to Sevy, but I’ve only heard stories about what the Ryder Cup was like. So, I would say if possible, I think that’s a very obvious uh obvious good choice to have Sergio be part of that
