It just occurred to me that I’d probably get it close to the green with a low runner, but the odds are I don’t get it on. Which means I’m taking all that risk for little reward. Hitting a tree is one thing but hitting a tree and having the ball come flying back at your head is another. Probably best to play it safe with a hit to the right as the difference in approach would be minor and the risk is high trying to shoot the gap.
