Grint Scoring, why is my handicap shown as higher on my better rounds?

Your best round is the *differential* (not handicap) of 20.6. Rating of 70.2/125 means it’s a lot harder than the other 2 (~65/113). So scoring 94 at Brookmeadow is better than 94 at ECC and 89 at Norwood.

I drive by all three of these courses on the way to work….

This isnt a grint thing, its a handicap thing. Every course has a rating and a slope that’s factored into the raw score. Easton is much easier than brookmeadow

You played really easy courses. The lower those 2 numbers are, the easier the course

I’m just jealous you play so many country clubs!

  6. Course rating, number on the left is what a scratch golfer would score on average. Slope, number on the left is a little more confusing but it basically measure how hard the course is for all golfers, the higher the number the more difficult the course. Slope looks at things like forced carries, hazards, OB, bunkers, greens, etc.

Your adjusted handicap takes these two numbers into consideration.

Those aren’t your handicaps for those days, those are your handicap *differentials*, which is calculated after your round and is used to calculate your Index.

You shot 94 on a Course rating just over 70 and a Slope of 125. So your differential is only 20, whereas you also shot 94 on a much easier course (Course Rating 65 and Slope 115), so your differential is 28.2.

Your Handicap Index is the average of your 8 best differentials over your last 20 rounds. So if your handicap index right now is say 25, that 20.4 and 23.2 will help bring that down.

Look up how course rating, slope rating, differentials, and how handicaps are calculated.

  9. My home course is 76.6/152 from the tips (I’m two up from that misery at 70.2/142)

Norwood sounds like a dream to play at 65/111

But yes as other have mentioned not all courses are equal so they have ratings so you can compare much like handicaps are used between golfers of different skill levels.
