If you’re a new golfer and you’re struggling to break a 100, I got an easy way to do it. I’m going to show you how to do on this par five. It’s 490 yards. Let’s do it. It’s hot out here. Let’s go. To make bogey in this hole, I just need to break it down into four sections. Four shots to get on the green. 123 yards each. I’m going to hit a seven iron. That should get me out there pretty good. I know the worst thing I could do is shank it or hit a fat one, but I won’t be off the planet. I know I can hit it pretty straight. See, I hit a bad shot and it’s out there just fine. Probably 140 yards. That’s pretty much the worst shot I can hit right there. Straight down the middle. 140, maybe 150 yards. Roll out just fine. The hardest part about doing this is just talking yourself into doing the right thing and not hitting the wild crazy shot. Doesn’t matter what your buddies say, what everybody thinks about you. You have a plan. Execute it the way you want to. Stick with your plan. Accept each shot and move on. So, managing your misses is huge in golf. Keeping the ball in the middle of the fairway will make your life 100 times easier. And breaking down the hole into smaller chunks will make it feel a lot less daunting. So, I know from this position, I need to hit 168 y to get to the 150 yard marker. So, I’m just going to pull out my seven iron again and let it rip. With the goal of bogey and four shots to get to the green, there’s a lot less pressure on my swing. And there you have it. A nice easy swing right back to the middle of the fairway at my 150 yard mark. Here’s my third shot. I’m already ahead of schedule and super happy after that bad T- shot. 163 yards downwind. Whatever. I’m just trying to get there in four shots. This is only my third shot. So, this this is doing pretty well. I’m pretty happy with this. Even though my T-shot was absolutely horrible. So, I’m choosing to go with an eight iron here. I’m pretty downwind and I know I don’t want to go over the green. I know with the eight iron, I’m not going to hit anything super crazy. If anything, I’ll be a little short or on the green. If I can hit the middle of the green, safe. Now we just need a two putt for par. Like I said, par is a bonus, but we’re really just going for bogeies. Super easy. This game could be a lot easier than we make it. We’re always trying to do something crazy. Our eagles get in the way. But if we just keep that in check, the game gets a lot easier. Pars are a bonus when you’re a beginner golfer. We’ll have this for a birdie, which after that T-OT, it’s pretty good. So, I’m really just trying to nestle this up close to the hole and tap it in. Remember, we’re just going for a bogey here. Pars are a complete bonus as a beginner golfer. And what a terrible putt. Now we just got two putts for a bogey. But I think I can make this there. Very easy part. No stress. And this can apply to every every hole, every part of your game. Just hit what you know how to hit. And it’s that simple. Well, there you have it. Manage your misses. Break the holes down into smaller chunks and life and golf gets a lot easier. Thank you for watching.
