Scotty Sheffller’s press conference yesterday. I’m sure you’re aware of what what he said. Why do I want to win the Open Championship so badly? I don’t know because if I win, it’s going to be awesome for about 2 minutes. Wonder what what you made of it. I I’m not sure what he was trying to articulate and I’m not going wouldn’t be putting words in his head, but I know I’m still celebrating my US Open senior win. So, h and it goes on for weeks. every time somebody says well done to me, I get a little, you know, bit of acceptance and enjoyment out of it. So, uh I I think he was trying to articulate something. I I yeah, I’m not like I know Yeah, I just I’m not I don’t want to compare myself to him, but I genuinely have still have a real love for this game. I enjoy every bit of it. H it brings me tremendous satisfaction, and I don’t think I have to shy away from that. I don’t think I have to. Just because I love golf doesn’t make me a bad father or a bad parent or anything. I don’t have to they’re they’re separate entities. You can you can enjoy everything there is about golf and and and still be good elsewhere and do the right things. So, uh I just I just love playing golf. You know, for him, he’s going to be asked about that for the next the minute he doesn’t play well, that’s why he’s going to be, oh, that was the day. H So, he he was being honest. Uh but yeah, that’s those people are going to ask him about that for a long time. I’ve often said this later on in my life. I wish I spent more time enjoying my wins when they happened, you know, uh like and when I win now, I make sure to enjoy there. There is.

  1. Padraig is in the twilight of his career and you can see from what he actually says here that he gets what Scottie says, ie being focused on the prize and maybe not enjoying his wins as much as he should have. Scottie will probably feel the same when he is in the twilight of his career…

  2. Anyone who knows anything about SS knows that as a Christian bloke, he knows where golf championship wins sit on the ladder of importance in the scale of eternity.
    That’s all he’s saying.
He’s not disrespecting golf or his fellow competitors – he’s just reminding himself of his perspective.

  3. Scottie was articulating the thoughts of a great existential philosophical genius. Search for "Albert Camus the absurd" and you'll see what Scottie was talking about.

  4. Love it. Golf isn’t everything and finding a purpose outside of a career 99.9% of us will never have is what I believe Scottie was trying to convey but golf can also be extremely satisfying if you focus on the positive impacts it can have on your life

  5. Tiger Woods said that in his office are all the major trophies, and asked where the rest of them were he said he didn't know. I think he's like Scotty, when he wins a tournament he loves it for a bit and then on to the next one

  6. It comes down to a difference in world view, honestly. This world is not our home. Christians are commanded to not love this world. I think maybe that is what he was trying to say..maybe. I don't begrudge Padraig's feelings and opinion though. I'm a big fan of his.

  7. I think Scottie's point is he's so competitive and ambitious that he quickly moves onto the next one. But he did say he's living his best life just being on tour, so i'm sure he's fine 😂

  8. I agree to what you Paddy says,…and here is another aspect of the game of golf ⛳️,… ”golf is a game that can not be won, it can only be played”👍✅🤔🇸🇪🌎 🇮🇪☘️

  9. Scottie has the gift and curse of being able to play the fairways and greens game. In order to win he has cut off the part of him that applies emotion to the golf process.

  10. I know what Scottie is saying and he has his priorities in order without question. Saying that I am a little more with Paddy here. This game is hard and when I have a good or special round I enjoy it for a few days or at least until my next round.

  11. Truthfully, I think golf s too easy for Scottie… He sounds like a guy who doesn't care about legacy or the hall of fame… He's also a victim of having accomplished so much more than even the best the game has seen at such a young age… Often if something comes to easy it loses its meaning.

  12. Just let them play and compete. Why does everything have to be a psychological analysis? People are different…they behave differently under various circumatances. Geez!

  13. Scottie finds fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Padraig, and many others, find a cheap form of fulfillment in worldly success. It’s that simple. Scottie is awesome

  14. Scottie has a perspective few can grasp. Thats ok. He has different priorities. Eternal perspective. Peace.
