PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – The Wood County Society held its 3rd Heritage Golf Classic at the Worthington Golf Club in Parkersburg.
Bailey Harlow, the Community Outreach Coordinator for the Wood County Society, said the money raised for the golf outing goes back to the organization.
“It is an opportunity to engage with our community, but also to bring benefits to our programs and resources to supplement the needs that they have and to support the individuals that we serve through them,” Harlow said.
“It’s a community effort,” added Jennifer Morrison. “I run the Artbeat studio, and we make things based on donations.”
“We’re running to the high-needed programs in this area,” added Linda Lawson. “We have different programs that we offer, and being able to offer back and give back to the Community. If we don’t have the support, then those that we serve won’t have the support that we can give them.”
Golfer Scott Kirby agrees that having the event is a great way to support the organization.
“I mean, giving back to the community, it’s something every American should be doing,” Kirby said. “It’s just an opportunity to come out and have fun and do just that. It’s giving back to the community.”
“I think it’s important for us to have an opportunity to engage in the community base, but also give back to them in ways that they experience,” Harlow said. “They get player packs, they get a fun day of golf to get the opportunity to compete for silent auction items. It gives them something to remember this event by, remember our individuals by, and remember the organization by.”
