Adam Sandler reflects on working with family in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’
The stars of “Happy Gilmore 2” hit the green carpet in New York to celebrate the film’s upcoming release, in which Adam Sandler returns to the golf course as Happy Gilmore nearly 30 years after the original film.

Florida is known for its world-class golf courses. But another state gets the showcase in “Happy Gilmore 2,” the sequel to Adam Sandler’s much-loved golf comedy.
The latest movie was released on Netflix on July 25, nearly 30 years after the original “Happy Gilmore” hit theaters in 1996. The sequel features Sandler’s titular character down on his luck and out of golf, needing to pay a lofty amount for ballet school for his daughter, played by Sandler’s real-life daughter Sunny Sandler. To get the money, Gilmore will have to get his swing back to take on old rival Shooter McGavin and a host of other adversaries.
Naturally, “Happy Gilmore 2” features a ton of golf scenes (well, that and sports and celebrity cameos), all shot on location. Florida certainly has plenty of top-tier courses to choose from. The original legendary golf comedy, “Caddyshack,” was partially shot at Grande Oaks Golf Club in Fort Lauderdale. Why not return to the Sunshine State?
Imagine seeing Gilmore attack the Island Green at TPC Sawgrass, home of The Players Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach. Or either the Red, Black or Blue course at Streamsong in Bowling Green? Need a private course to make shooting easier? How about Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach or Calusa Pines in Naples?

Where was ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ filmed? Were any Florida golf courses used?
Sorry, Florida, but “Happy Gilmore 2” was shot almost exclusively in New Jersey, with a few scenes filmed in Los Angeles. NJ.com reported the production team spent $152 million filming on location across nine counties in New Jersey. Golf.com reported most of the golf scenes were shot at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club, a private course that opened in 1965 and that features three 18-hole golf courses, all of which were used in the movie.
Sandler takes some practice swings in the movie on a beach, but that’s nowhere among Florida’s extensive Atlantic Coast or Gulf Coast locations. Rather, that scene was shot at Ideal Beach in Middletown Township, New Jersey, across the bay from Sandy Hook.

Just like in the original, “Happy Gilmore 2” features a mini golf scene. Those were shot at Farmview Golf Center in Hackettsown, about 18 miles northwest of Bedminster.
Where was ‘Happy Gilmore’ filmed?
The first movie, released in 1996, also left Florida in the lurch. The original “Happy Gilmore” was shot largely around Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada, a popular pick for movies shot on location because of the economic benefits. The golf scenes were shot at Pitt Meadows Golf Club, about 23 miles east of Vancouver.
