Frontstretch’s Stephen Stumpf caught up with several drivers on their way to the playoffs after the regular season finale at Darlington Raceway. Team Penske and Penske-affiliated drivers Austin Cindric, Joey Logano, and Harrison Burton recapped their nights and joined Christopher Bell in previewing the first race of the playoffs at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Austin CER comes home 13th at Darlington Harrison bur comes home 21st you guys are in the playoffs just to talk about talk about your day today just given you know longest one of the longest races of the year and just you know the hot conditions outside super easy race sensely boring didn’t uh didn’t even break a sweat um yeah we got a pit Ro penalty on the first pit stop and had a pit back under green got two laps down early and probably wasn’t until 40 to go that we were back uh back on the lead lap so um feels just so tight here that it’s just so hard to recover from things like that um definitely things you got to clean up but not you get a decent finish but um yeah definitely a long race to kind of stay in it that that that many laps down and you uh same just got lap down for a different reason honestly just stuck laps down or lap down for a really really long time uh couldn’t get the lucky dog and then um Tred something to kind of get some some tack position ended up going two down with that and then right there the yeah he’s going to D but uh yeah I mean I feel like it’s we had a really fast race car which is frustrating to not finish well but uh good that we can put a good car together and show up and uh adjust throughout the race that was the best car I’ve had when I’ve started that far off to begin a race a good job on B and uh with Atlanta coming up next to start the playoffs I believe you finished 11th in February um how how how important is maximizing results given you know that’s been one of your better tracks hug I mean every week it’s huge um see year in and year out you never know who’s going to advance you never know who’s going to get eliminated so every restart every laugh every thing you do you know every stage is going to just add up and uh the best guys will rise and the guys that don’t execute will fall so we got to be one of the risers not the followers oh thank you y thank you Joey L comes home e of Darlington qualifi the playoffs just talk about you know talk about your day and just you know how kind of crazy it got in the last 50 laps the race oh what you would expect uh at Darlington towards the end of race and and restarts uh then you have a lot of doer Dyers up there uh in the front and you know Co Brisco made it happen so um crazy crazy uh ending there we were able to dodge a wreck and come home uh where we seven or so and with uh Atlanta starting the playoffs Ford’s been great at the Super Speedway tracks all season how important is maximizing the day there to get to you know in in the CH in the yeah well we have to yeah I mean it’s it’s a super speedway so you know we uh feel confident about our Mustangs there um so we’ll just try to qualify good and get some stage points uh do a good job executing throughout the day and um yeah getting points in the first race is is going to mean a lot because you get a couple wild cards after that all right thank you Joey all right no looking back for him so uh yeah he just uh he killed it today he did a really good job they were there all weekend long and uh you know I’m proud of him s just guy sorry if I repeat some questions but Christopher just uh top two just took off what more did your card need there the end I don’t know I mean I was a little bit a little bit tight a little bit loose just kind of out of grip and uh you know the 14 was on the same tires as me and he just he just took off and drove away so they were really really good all night long and and were probably the best when it mattered the most so it was just really fun to watch the eight and the 14 duke it out and uh yeah that’s the way it should be two guys Racing for the win hard Atlanta coming up next uh kind of what’s the what’s you know now with the playoffs beginning what’s kind of the mindset of the team heading into the week reparing um just eliminate mistakes and try and um just run like we’re capable of if we run like we’re capable of we’ll be fine throughout these these first couple rounds are really the whole thing but uh yeah we can’t can’t have bad races like we did in the spring thank you thank you [Music] [Music] [Music] what’s up Michael Massie here front.com don’t forget to hit that subscribe button
