In a major shakeup just weeks before the LIV golf season finale, Wim Neman has parted ways with both his longtime caddy and swing coach. Despite sitting at top the league standings with only three regular season events remaining, the 26-year-old Chilean, one of LIV Golf’s most dominant players since joining the Saudi back tour in 2022, has unexpectedly split from Catty Gary Matthews, who had been on his bag since 2020. The duo has enjoyed plenty of success together, including six individual wins, more than any other LIIV golfer, and over 13 million pounds earned in 2025 alone, thanks to four tournament victories this year. While Neman hasn’t publicly explained the decision, the timing comes just days after he missed the cut at the Open Championship, leaving the course visibly frustrated on Friday afternoon. Filling in as Caddy at LIV Golf UK this week at the JCB Golf and Country Club is Diego Selenus, a close friend and fellow professional from the Chilean Golf Tour. But the changes don’t stop there. Nean has also ended his partnership with coach Eduardo Miguel, who has guided his swing since he turned professional in 2018. Miguel, a former pro who once described himself as a perfectionist, had a major influence on Neman’s early rise in global golf at this week’s LIIV event in Staffordshire. Neman was spotted working with a new face on the range, though the identity of his new swing adviser remains unknown. This revamp may be tied to Neman’s high standards and his desire for continued growth. After winning LIV Golf Virginia in June, Nean admitted that he still wasn’t satisfied with parts of his game. I mean, I don’t know, he said when asked if he was playing his best golf. Obviously, I scored pretty good. I made good putts when I needed to and good up and downs on 17, but my driving it hasn’t been the best lately. I felt like I was driving it well earlier in the year, but it doesn’t feel right now. There’s definitely work to do. I’ll go back and try to figure something out. His missed cut at the open was his second straight early exit at a major, a pattern that has haunted Neman throughout his career. Despite all his success on LIIV, he’s managed just one top 10 finish in 26 major championship appearances. A surprisingly underwhelming stat for a player of his caliber. With pressure building and expectations skyhigh, these bold mid-season moves could signal a lastditch effort by Neman to fine-tune his game ahead of LIIV’s playoffs and finally make a breakthrough on golf’s biggest stages.
