Hey, thanks for watching. Something really exciting just happened yesterday. I shot my best round of golf ever and it wasn’t really even a casual round of golf. It was a money match where you’re putting everything out at a course that was set up for the Long Beach Open which is coming up next week and they had the pre-event going on the bow tour. I played before they started and I shot four underpar 68. So, I had shot 68 before, but at a par 71 before be better golf at a much much easier course is really the two 68s don’t compare at all. Some people were asking me like, “Okay, was there anything different or what did you do?” And it wasn’t really a fluke either because recently I’ve been playing a lot better. So, I wanted to make this video about now that my handicap has gone down quite a bit and I’m shooting a lot better scores both at the top end and the low end. It seemed like I always talk about this thing about like leveling up or just changing into a different player. So where I really feel like I’ve done that just in the last 2 months or 2 and 1/2 months or so. So I wanted to talk about really what I think it is that changed in my game and what I’m doing now. I think I’ve kind of streamlining the things all the different tips and things that I’ve learned. And I think there’s some really good takeaways that I can share with you that you guys can take and make yourself a better golfer too. The first thing that I think that really started this avalanche of better golf for me was the gravity fit bands. Kirsten from Australia came out here and showed me the gravity fit bands. And when she was talking about her Uber driver and she started talking about how, hey, there if you are consistent with just a few things on the gravity fit bands, they’re like bands that you put on like a backpack and you you walk around with them, right? And uh she said if you did just a few things, you know, they’ve seen it in the uh NASA did a study on it and they also did it like somewhere else in Texas like a uh with MRIs and stuff. They’ve seen the uh the benefits and your posture and like how you move overall like the entire system. I’ve been pretty consistent with the gravity fit bands as far as I don’t do that much, but I I walk around with them stretched quite a bit and then I’ve been doing these things with the gravity fit that I’ll show you now. basically where I don’t have it with me here at the park, but basically where I put it on my leg here and I try to do like 50 or 100 of these a day because I know from in be better golf I’ve seen everybody and I know from seeing TPI people and fitness people that I do have weak legs and a weak butt. So I’m like, “Okay, I got to focus on that.” And I think the gravity fit is good for that. And the day yesterday when I shot 68, I got the gravity fit bands out and I did that normal warm-up that we showed you. So that’s the first thing. Okay, the second thing that I did that started this avalanche of better play is I used to consistently hit my wedges left. I was like always hitting my wedges left and I thought it was probably something wrong that I was doing and I think it probably was. We did that gravity fit video and I said I noticed how when I released it there, I wasn’t really hitting the ball left. And then I was watching golf on TV and I noticed something about how Wim Neman was really swinging, but it didn’t look like he was sending the club through. It looked like he was releasing the body and the club followed. There’s something about that image that really stuck with me. [Music] Dang, that was pure. So, I saw that video with Neman and that made it click a little bit. But then the big thing is I got all new wedges in the mail. I just got three new wedges from Scotch Golf. Whenever somebody sees my bag, they go, “What is Scotch Golf?” It’s a small company from Utah that makes, I think, the best irons and wedges in golf. So Scott put him I talked to him for like about 20 minutes about wedges and what I like and what I don’t like. So he picked out the bounce based off of kind of the conditions I play and and how I like to see it sit. Also, he picked out the shafts for me. This is the main thing I told Scott that I’m looking for is I want to be able to lay this the wedge open and have that leading edge not far off of the ground. And you can see that I didn’t realize how bad my old wedges were. or maybe they had gotten from so many balls like hit off the mats and stuff. Maybe they had gotten bent toe up or something like that. But I didn’t realize how bad my old wedges were until I got new wedges. It was like night and day. I’m like, I don’t have to work so hard to fight off the left. I can kind of release it and not really worry about it. That made like a really big difference because a lot of times before I’d hit a good drive or I’d have a good round going and I’d be whatever 110 yards from the hole or 95 yards from the hole and I’d hit a wedge that felt good, but I’d just be watching it go long left. And long left is where all the worst stuff is. So, thanks to Scott for sending those wedges. I think they’re the best wedges ever made just because of the difference it made in my game. Also, with those new wedges, I should say my driver. I switched my the weight on my driver. I needed to do the same thing with my driver. My driver is I don’t want my driver to hear this, but it’s not a good driver. The Stealth 2 driver, I don’t think is the best one Tailor Made, probably not even in the top 10 of drivers that Tailor Made has made. Just like my wedges, I didn’t know how bad my wedges were until I switched wedges. I know it’s the same thing with driver. If I can really get in tune with a driver that fits me, and it might not even be something from this year. It might be I have a feeling it might be like something from a couple years ago. That was the second part. The third thing that I did that that really helped me get better at golf was uh I was playing pretty good, but I really started playing much much better and striking the ball better, more consistently after I did that lesson with Scott at his lab. Not a lot of people watched that video, but I changed from sliding as much to trying to torque the ground. So, that was the first part of it where I uh was torquing ground this way and that way and letting that be the dominant force. that was big and I was playing pretty well with that. But I really started playing much better when I I built this torque board at the house. And with the torque board, it was pretty good when I first made it cuz I had like a dry erase board material on top of carpet that it would slide. That was okay. But then I got a lazy Susan ring and I put that on top of it in between the two boards. And then I put a put stronger bands on the top. And I started to think about the force resonance thing that I talk about on the channel all the time with Dr. Robert Grover. And I started thinking about you push the ground one part in the back swing and then two parts in the down swing. Where I think people go wrong is they don’t push the the ground very hard in the back swing and then they push the ground really hard in the down swing and it’s also way too late back swing. So some people were wondering like what’s the point? Are you looking for more distance? Are you looking for more accuracy? What’s one I think the idea is if I use the ground more like this because I’ve seen the force data from Colin Morawa in particular and I think if I use the ground more then I can take a swing that only goes from here to there and hit it further with a more compact swing. So that should be able to make me a lot more consistent. Whereas before, if I wanted to hit it, say 120 yards, I’d have to go like this to this. Now, I should be able to hit it 120 yards. Imagine just going from there to there. Now, this is a bit weird, this part, but it might make sense to some of you. Basically, I’ I’ve learned that I push the ground and then a shadow of that force creates the back swing. So it’s like one part and then equals a certain part of speed of the back swing and then I push the ground again double what I pushed on the way back and then the hand speed comes through at what feels like about double. So it’s one and then I feel a one like an echo and then two and then two and right here after I’ve done that two I just let the club freewheel through and that’s totally different. I was so obsessed with uh lag impact and getting, you know, the club shaft leaning forward before that I’d do the first part, but then I try to hold it even though I didn’t think I was trying to hold it, I would. Now, I think I’m having a better time just starting it to here and then just kind of supporting that through more than like driving it through hard. It’s like once you’ve done it to here, you’ve done really all the work. Even though it might look like you’re grunting and having all this effort through, it’s really everything you can do just to keep up to the force that you made here. That was maybe uh something I have to explain better in a longer video, but I agree with that. Another thing that that I don’t think is talked about enough is there’s a big connection between how much you’re walking and how well you’re playing. The more you walk, the more you’re going to play better golf. I I would guarantee us if you studied that scientifically, you could probably figure that out. So, because I’ve seen with uh Marcus Bell and other people, people talk about the gate cycle. There’s something to do uh golf the golf swing and your walking gate cycle are perfectly mirrored together. So, you should swing like you walk and you should walk as much as possible. That I can say for sure to get better at golf. Okay. So, if I want to get better and where to go from here, I want to get a new driver and I want to figure out like even if it costs a lot of money, I want to figure out like a really good new driver situation. I want to um I need to get a lot stronger and a lot more consistent with my body. Like total body movements. I think um uh individual exercise things are not really that that great. It’s got to be something that moves your your entire body. like uh for example like if you’re laying on the ground and you have to stand all the way up like those kind of uh those patterns of basic movement. There’s something really big to to that. There’s some things about my grip that I need to figure out. Yes, a little more speed obviously would be would be better, but I need to keep playing. That’s another thing that really helped me is I consistently play now, which I wasn’t doing in the early years of be better golf. I was playing just a couple holes here and there every week, but like sporadically. Now I’m like playing 18 holes at least every week and like serious competition 18 holes and then I’m playing like just goofing around with my son the the rest of the time. I think the final part of this is to put it under the gun and to test it by fire a little bit more and maybe start entering some tournaments and uh really putting some pressure on it. Not so much that the tournament will make me better, but knowing you have a tournament comes up coming up compresses your practice and really separates the reach from the shaft and gets you to concentrate on the the things that’ll actually matter. The other thing I can say for sure when it comes to this 68 was that I totally recommitted myself to the Better Golf putting stick. I was on that thing constantly. I was trying to motivate my son to do it more. So, uh, I was doing a competition with him and and I did 128 in a row, uh, down the putting strip and I did that last week and I’ve been, you know, when you do that and you really stay consistent with that and can put together a big number, it does something to your routine and it changes your mind about how you’re putting and and it really helps. All right, so that’s it. So, let me know what you think. Let me know if you have any questions. I have some ideas for how I want to like incorporate this in a bigger way to like help everybody. So, I’m going to be putting that together. It’ll be like an in-person thing. And other than that, click the subscribe button. Thanks for watching. Bye.

You are correct, that stealth driver is not in their top 5 for sure. There are many drivers out there that will help your game.
G400 max…try it.
Congrats on the score. Golf is a journey.
Great round , appreciate your videos. How many rounds a week are you playing and roughly how many balls a week are you hitting
Congrats B. Interestingly, Phil Mickelson just posted a short game video and he said that club manufactures don't know how to make a wedge…that from the man himself.
Congrats.
Keep the vids coming. Always enjoyed your content.
Congrats Brendon! Grea to see you progress! It truly inspires me
Which gravity fit band is best to hit balls with or is the most versatile?
Well done. Impressive.
Forever golf would be worthwhile?
What do you mean by "swing like you walk"?
Improving your ability to move properly will have the greatest impact on your swing. I recommend an online program called pain academy if you want to take movement seriously. Hand picking a few stretches or whatever from TPI will not fix your major movement faults.
been lovin this channel for a while now. super happy for you brother thanks for all you do for the golf community sharing all this info!
WOW! Congrats Brendon! – you've worked so hard.
💪👍
Tommy John's son is into health and fitness and he suggested basic exercises like crawling on all fours . The guy is ripped!
7 birdies! That is pretty insane. Evidence that you don't necessarily 'need' any more speed or glute muscles.
Wedges and driver are important weapons. I have a Mizuno ST-G 220 so I could play with weights and loft and shafts. Even after 2nd shaft & XS Jumbo max grip… only $300 into it and everything has been new. Low torque ProLaunch Blue.
G400 or 410 are options for you. Getting a shaft that works with your intended tempo is more important than the head IMO.
Old but great driver Rocketballz pro model with a stiff shaft 50 gram. You can feel where the clubhead is in space better than any driver Ive tried.
A suggestion, go to Cool Clubs in Irvine for a fitting
