Huge thank you to Sea Island for the incredible experience and for treating me like a tour pro from start to finish. All right, y’all. For my 30th birthday, I may have gotten the greatest golf experience and gift that I’ve ever received. I was down in St. Simon’s Island, Georgia, and I had the absolute privilege of getting a full tour level golf club fitting at the Sea Island Golf Performance Center. And let me just tell you, this place is on a completely different level. I had a 1:00 p.m. fitting scheduled, but I got there early around 12:20 so I could loosen up on the range. Pristine turf and beautiful views, but I didn’t want to try to overdo it. I mean, I hit a few half wedge shots just to get loose because I knew what was coming. Three hours of pure swings and golf ball compression, or at least I was hopeful at that time. Walking up to the Golf Performance Center, into the pro shop, down to the bay was like walking into golf heaven. Every brand, every shaft, every head, literally everything you could imagine. I had no idea what to expect going into my first ever golf club fitting, but I’m not sure there’s much else that could top this. My fitter for the day was master club fitter Curtis Legette. And let me tell you, Curtis is world class. From start to finish, Curtis treated the entire fitting session like I was on tour. Cold towels, water breaks, snacks if I needed them. He made sure I stayed cool, focused, and had the energy I needed to make swings for the entire 3 hours of the golf club fitting. We kicked things off with the driver fitting. And right away, Curtis let me know that the Callaway Paradigm X I’ve been gaming for the past 2 years was just not the right club and fit for me. So, we went through literally everything. Callaway, Titalist, Tailor Made, Ping, Mazuno, you name it, I hit it. And ultimately, it came down to the Titalist GT2 driver paired with a Denali blue 70 g stiff shaft. This thing was game over. Tighter dispersion, better feel, longer distances, everything felt insanely dialed. And honestly, this was the first time I’d really ever compared clubs back to back with shafts as well. and I could immediately tell the difference. From there, we moved on to the fairway woods and hybrids. Now, this one hurt a little bit, but it didn’t take long for Curtis to tell me to not even take my current fairway woods back home with me. He basically told me to never hit them again and send them off to Goodwill or sell them before I even left the island. My swing wasn’t great here, and just how I’ve been manipulating my swing for the past few months with my old fairway woods kind of carried over into this fairwood way fitting. We did end up going with a Ping G440 Max 4-wood set at 17° with the regular Ping Tour chrome extra stiff shaft. Even when I wasn’t swinging perfect, the feedback and feel from this new fairway wood was definitely an improvement and something I could realize. Now, on to the part that I was the most hyped for, the irons. Now, I’ve been gaming my Tacoma 101’s for a while now, and I really like them. They were the first set of golf clubs I ever bought. First ones I ever took an investment and was concerned about. And I’ve always been a Tacoma truther. I would tell anyone that they feel the same and that they’re good golf clubs. And they still are. They’re great direct to consumers. But once I started hitting some bigger name brands for the first time and comparing them side by side, I could immediately tell a difference. Especially with Tidalist and Mazuno irons. The feel was insane. The turf interaction, the control, the consistency, it was night and day. And I’m not gonna say Tacoma irons are bad. They’re definitely not. But the overall feeling I was getting from these different clubs that were getting suited to my game, it was incredible. After hitting everything possible, I ended up fitting into the brand new Titalist T-150s paired with the NS Pro Modus 120 stiff shafts. And let me tell you, these things are butter. I’d never felt anything so pure off the face. This was honestly one of the biggest wins of the fitting. and I’ve loved hitting my Taccomos for the past two years, but these Titalist irons are different. I’m telling you, they’re different. From there, we went ahead and went to the wedges. Now, I’ve also been playing the Sky Forger1s ever since I started trying to get better and play better golf, and wedges are a strong point of my game. Now, we didn’t spend quite as long here on the wedges, but we did make sure that the grinds were optimized for my swing in the turf conditions that I usually play. Ultimately, I ended up with three Titleless Voki SM10s in the nickel finish. 48 degree F- grind, 52°ree F grind, and a 56 degree S grind. Each one of these is for the right bounce on how I deliver the club and should be helpful with the regular conditions and turf that I play on my home courses. Honestly, it was just an overall upgrade and feel and versatility compared to my old setup with the Tacoma wedges. So, my overall final golf club build for my first ever golf club fitting was a Titleless GT2 driver with the Denali Blue 70 gram stiff shaft, a Ping G440 Max forwood set at 17° with the Ping Tour chrome extra stiff shaft, the new Tidless T-150s with the NS Pro modus 120 stiff shafts and three new Titus Voki wedges in the nickel finish, 48°ree F grind, 52°ree F grind, and 56° S grind. Start to finish, this was one of the most incredible golf experiences I’ve ever had. Curtis treated me like a tour pro the whole time and the care, the attention to detail, the tech, the process. It was unreal. I came in not knowing what to expect or how my very first golf club fitting would go and left with a fully dialed bag that’s going to give me confidence and better performance every time I tee it up. If you’re ever considering getting fit or trying to find the best place for you to get a full golf club fitting and be treated with care and not just someone trying to force specific shafts or sell you the most expensive thing they have on the rack and just make sure that your clubs match your swing and the conditions that you normally play. I honestly cannot recommend the Sea Island Golf Performance Center enough. The entire facility, the staff is a completely on another level. Once the clubs come in, I’m going to do a what’s in the bag. I might also do a what’s in the bag for the past two years while I’ve been learning the game and trying to improve and get better. So, if you’re interested to see the old setup, the new setup, or what’s going to happen, go ahead and like and subscribe. We’d really appreciate it, and every little bit helps. Stay tuned for some upcoming content, what the new clubs look like, and this journey that Georgia Golf Collective is on. Catch you guys in the next one.

Scared to ask, what did the fitting cost and what did the new clubs cost?
