Registration is open for the Birchbank Men’s Open, sign up before Aug. 3 deadline

The 77th Birchbank Men’s Open is scheduled for August 15-17, but will need more participants for the Open to tee off.

The deadline for the 36-hole event is coming, Aug. 3, with a capacity of 120 golfers both amateur and professional.

“We are nearing the deadline for this year’s Open,” said Men’s Open organizer Brett McLaren.  “If we do not get enough entries we will have to make a decision about whether we cancel the event for this year and let this event die like so many others in our area.

“Please don’t let that happen and sign up by the deadline.”

The popular event is historically filled to capacity by local players as well as competitors from across southern B.C., Alberta and the U.S.

It also offers a separate seniors division for players age 55 and up.

Entry fees are $150 for members and $190 for non-members, which includes a practice round, two rounds of golf, a banquet, and complimentary range balls.

On Friday, there will also be a 2-Man Horse Race at 5 p.m. and $50 per team with early registration from noon until 4 p.m.

Saturday registration starts at 7 a.m., with a banquet in the Bistro to follow the opening round.

The Birchbank Open also offers a skins game, net honey pot for amateurs, and a deuce pot, with cash prizes awarded the Open champions and flight winners.
