Trump believes the Miami Hurricanes, who she committed to last year, will help her reach that goal
Kai Trump, granddaughter of former President Donald Trump, announced in August 2024 that she has verbally committed to play college golf at the University of Miami. She’s expected to join the Hurricanes in 2026, continuing a lifelong passion that began when she first picked up a club at just two years old.
While Kai wears many hats—including content creator for her millions of followers on social media—she made it clear in an interview withFox News Digital: her main focus is golf.
“Yeah, it is. 100%,” she said when asked if going pro was the ultimate goal.
Preparing for the Next Step
With one more year of high school ahead, Trump is focused on preparation—through training, tournament play, and staying committed on the course.
“Just playing a lot of events, just gaining experience,” she explained. “If I have two hours, I’m not going to hit a few balls and scroll on my phone. I’m going to take full advantage of that time.”
She also emphasized the importance of strength training and physical conditioning as she gears up for the next level.
Kai says she chose the University of Miami because she believes its program will help her elevate her game and gain the experience needed to reach the professional tour.
“The more golf I play, the better I’ll do. Miami gave me a great opportunity, and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Competitive Spirit Runs in the Family
Trump, who comes from a large and high-profile family, credits her upbringing for her strong competitive edge.
“It might just be a family gene,” she said with a smile. “You can’t really teach that. But having brothers and a big family—sometimes you just have to be competitive.”
It’s that drive, she believes, that will be key as she pursues her dream of turning pro.
NIL Deal with Accelerator Active Energy
As a rising star in junior golf and social media, Kai has also capitalized on the NCAA’s Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) policy. She recently became the first golfer to sign an NIL deal with Accelerator Active Energy, where she also holds an equity stake.
The brand, known for partnering with LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne and NFL star Travis Kelce, launched with a splash—including a presidential-themed announcement video featuring Kai addressing “fellow Americans and content creators.”
“It’s pretty cool—especially being partners with such great athletes and being up there too with them,” she said.
From South Carolina’s junior tournaments to Miami’s fairways and beyond, Kai Trump’s journey is just beginning—but her sights are already set on the pro tour.
