Almost 30 years after the original film was released, Adam Sandler is back on the golf course to reprise his role of Happy Gilmore in a sequel.
Back in 1996, Sandler’s comedy became a cult classic, with the actor starring a failed hockey player turned golf sensation Gilmore. A sequel had been in the offing for a while, with Happy Gilmore 2 finally releasing on Friday on Netflix.
The sequel boasts a host of celebrities and star athletes, including world no.1 golfer Scottie Scheffler, who recently won The Open Championship, and PGA Tour star Will Zalatoris. Without veering into spoiler territory, Scheffler’s appearance is an interesting one, which Mirror U.S. Sport readers can learn about here. And it also includes an icon from the world of music in the form of Eminem, and golf social media sensation, Paige Spiranac.

“It was a blast (filming),” said Zalatoris of appearing in the film. “So the beauty of it is that if you think my acting is terrible, I’m not an actor, so that’s fine.
“I’ve never taken a drama class in my life. I had no idea what I was doing, but basically they said, ‘Act like a moron as much as you possibly can,’ and I said, ‘Well, that’s pretty easy for me.’ It was a really fun time, and hopefully everybody enjoys it when it comes out.
Of course, Scheffler and Zalatoris aren’t the only golfers who star in the sequel, with a host of PGA Tour and LIV Golf players making an appearance in Sandler’s Netflix movie.
