Well, with the way that Bryce Matthews has gone off in this series, we’ve heard a lot of talk about following the game plan and maybe changing the game plan. Whatever it is, Brandon Font needs to follow it today. Attack, attack, attack this Astros lineup. They’ve had some pretty good success in the first two games, but this is a lineup Brandon F should attack and defeat. Tied away, ball four. And unfortunately for FA, that’ll be a leadoff walk. Coming into play today, BA has gone 11 consecutive starts in which he has allowed two walks or fewer. Trel on the go. The pitch is down. The throw is also low and it hits Tral on a bounce or maybe hit the glove of Peromo covering. Either way, it’s Taylor’s first stolen base as an Astro. There’s that leadoff hitter we were looking for. Swung on, grounded up the middle right to the shortstop Perdomo and he throws to Naylor at first in time. Tremal who had just stolen second is able to get to third on the play. But that’ll bring up Christian Walker with the game’s first run 90 ft away and only one out in the top of the first. Swing and a miss. He struck him out. He went to a cutter and that’s a big strikeout. Is now two down in the top of the first inning for Yiner Diaz. Mentioned he just started throwing that cutter six starts ago. He used it in the bullpen a few times and brought it in to throw it to a righty. It moved just enough to get the swing and miss. That’s only the ninth time he’s thrown it to a right-handed batter. A high chopper to third. Suarez has it. A perfect throw to first in time. And that’s going to do it for the Astros in the top of the first inning. Last game here in Arizona. Brandon Walter takes the mound for your Houston Astros in eight starts. He is 1 and three with a 366 RA and a whip under one. He’s been kind of the victim of some bad luck in those eight starts. The Astros have lost six of those eight starts, but it’s because he hasn’t gotten much run support under three runs a game in starts for Brandon Walter. Tell Marte back at second base in the leadoff spot against Houston left-hander Brandon Walter. That is hit well out to deep left field. Just like that, it’s one to nothing Diamondbacks. Number 24, Catel and it’s one- nothing Diamondbacks. That’s a way to start a ball game right there. We know Tory likes to plug Catel into that leadoff spot against left-handed pitchers. Great start to the game here today. Henio Suarez 36 homers tied with Otani for the league lead. 86 runs batted in the most of the majors. And this could possibly be Gino’s final Chase field game as a diamond bots on a swing and a miss up top. First strike out for Walter and the second out of the inning. Now Walter will go after Josh Naylor. Ball skyed way up in the air. Duban and Whitam converge as Dubon taking charge and putting it away for the final out of the inning. So Walter bounces back after a leadoff home run, but it is one- nothing Arizona. Here is Bla1 Alexander left-hander ready. The one there’s a swing and a line drive base hit into left field. Alexander hustling aggressively around first. He will hold there and a two out single keeps things going for Heraldo Peromo. Let’s see if the Diamondbacks can have one of those rallies where they put a big number on the board. And now the 01 line drive. That’s a base hit into right field. Alexander easily going to get to third. Perommo will hold it first. And the Dbacks have runners on the corners for Catel. Peromo just keeps collecting hits. He’s been in each of the spots at the bottom of the lineup. 7, eight, and nine. And it doesn’t matter. He just continues to hit. And a one- nothing game. We’ll revisit what’s been the theme of this series for the Diamondbacks. Three for 19 with runners in scoring position in the first two games. Alexander at third, Predomo at first. Here’s Marte with his first leadoff home run this season. His 20th of the year. A chance to add to this one- nothing lead that he created. This one popped up. Playable. Victor Keratini in foul territory. Will make the catch for the final out of the inning. Two hits, two left on. Big strike out of Walker last time when all he had to do is put the ball in play somewhere to pick up an RBI. And now the O2. Walker takes strike three. Two Seamer backed it up over the outside corner. And another strike out of Walker. Sinker has been dynamite for Fonta. One down for Diaz. And that’s pulled to left field. That’s a base hit. Guriel gets it in. It’s a one out single for Yiner Diaz. Able to get to that sweeper. It was on the outside corner. Bryce Matthews to the plate. He showed bunt his last time up. I think the Diamondback’s bench was applauding that swing and a miss right on the corner and fought fired an absolute dart for the strike out. He pulls that sinker and still gets a ton of sinking action. That just shows how much that ball’s moving. And when it’s going like that, you don’t even have to throw a forcing. There’s now two down here in this fourth inning for Dubonal. Spun him around with a sinker and the second walk for Faulk. Two on and two out now for Hmel. Cooper Hmel, of course, made his major league debut as a Diamondback back in 2022. Hummel rolls it over to the right side. Catel has it and he waits for Naylor to get back to the bag. The throw just in time. And that will do it for Houston here. First baseman Josh Naylor, 28-year-old kind of surprising he got traded from the Guardians. I thought 1-1 is hit to center field racing in. Trl still coming. Dives feet first and makes the catch. Taylor Jamal. He get started with that jump. He doesn’t have a shot at catching that ball if he doesn’t get a good jump and doesn’t read it well off the bat. Here’s a grounder to third. Two hops for Wick and a good throw over to first base gets McCann and that’s out number three. Brandon Walpert keeping his club in the game. Delaware native pitched four seasons in fact at the University of Delaware. Now it’s Purdomo who’s singled in the second. That’s a fair ball over the bag at third. Jerry takes the turn and he’s in standing up. A one out double. He’s two for two. So for Purdomo, that’s base hits now in five consecutive at bats in this series. These are the situations again in which the Diamondbacks have not capitalized in this series. Just hits it hard to third. Whitam has Peromo. It’s the second time in as many games they have run into an out at third base with a play right in front of them. Britic did it last night. Pommo just committed a Cardinal sin right there. Now that’s just horrible base running right there. Plays right in front of you. And that was hit directly to the third baseman. It wasn’t like he had to dive left or right. And I maybe I can get by him. That ball was hit right to the third baseman. That’s an unnecessary out right there. He’s going to drive Tory bonkers. That’s a broken bat and a leaping grab by Karatini at first. A hooking liner. Keratini able to grab it to end the inning as that bat shattered into multiple pieces. Infield shades to pull. Pitch on the way. Christian Walker delivers a swing to left field. That’s going to be a double as Walker puts one off the wall. Christian has a hit in every game in the series. Five against his former team. The Astros have early action with this leadoff double from Christian Walker. Astros have stranded five runners through five innings so far today. Yiner one for two. Sends this ball pretty deep into right center field all the way back. Carol near the wall and it’s off the base of the wall. Walker went all the way back to second. So he’s going to be held up at third. A double by Yiner Diaz. And the Astros have runners on second and third. So now second and third with nobody out. And Mr. RBI at the plate. Bryce Matthews has driven in seven of the eight RBI’s for the Astros in this series. There’s a ground ball to short. And that will score a run. And it’ll be safe all around as Peromo does not handle the ground ball. It’s a 1-1 game. RBI for Matthews and an error to allow Matthews to reach first. That’s his eighth RBI of this series. They were going to concede the run. They do not get the out either. And the Diamondbacks with some base running miscues and now a defensive bump in the road. Came up too quickly. That ball kind of stayed down. A little bit of a worm burner that time and Jared came up too quickly with the glove and the Astros tie it up. Andrew Saulfrank on to face Cooper Hmel. This is his fourth appearance since he rejoined the Diamondbacks. And you go to the left-hander here, which spins Hmel around to the right side. And the numbers say that Cooper Hmel is a much better hitter against left-hand pitchers. That one goes through man. Here comes Diaz and he will score. Matthews into second and it’s two-1 Astros. They take the lead. Just came up a little too quickly on that ball that snuck through the five hole right there. See the mitt come up. leaves that gap underneath and of course the ball’s going to find it. So another one- nothing lead has vanished on the Diamondbacks. There’s a swing and a shallow fly to center and Carol will make the catch. Two down and here comes Jazz McCormick. Jack swing. He went around the ball gets away from McCann. Moves up the third baseline and Matthews all over it. He advances to third on the wild pitch. Astros two, Diamond Bags one. Houston has scored twice in this sixth inning. swung on. Ground ball to third and Suarez coming in gloves and throws to first in time. The inning is over. But the Astros they score twice and they’re able to do it on two hits. Now Josh Naylor who has popped up and flyed to center line drive caught by the leaping Victor Keratini. Karantini not a catcher today. He’s a leaping first baseman for the final out. Houston with men on the corners only one out and Christian Walker is the batter. Walker doubled and scored in the sixth. Swing and a miss. Struck him out and he got him to climb the ladder. Big time strike out by Richards. And this is going to bring up Yiner Diaz. Guarantini on the run. McCann throws through. Here comes Trel. Play at the plate and he’s out of the baseline. They run into an out at home in a one-run game. Houston tried to get tricky. The Astros fail to score and they run themselves right out of the seventh. That’s seven straight set down by the Astros left-hander Brandon Walter who’s one out away from seven innings of one-run ball. Alexander grounds one. Duban has it on a hop. His throw a little wide but the tag made by Karantini and a one two three inning for Walter who has retired 16 of the last 17. Ger Diaz. Giner two for three with a double and a run score. And that’s a base hit and will bound all the way to the fence. Ger on his way to second base and he has his second double and third hit of the afternoon. Here’s Bryce Matthews. An RBI his last time up. Reaching on an error. Now trying to bun is Bryce Matthews. Doesn’t he realize he owns all the RBI’s in this series? He bunts the runner to third. That’ll be a sacrifice for Bryce as Yiner gets to third here with one out. And Mauricio Duban a chance to add to this lead. And there’s a base hit for Duban. Doobie with an RBI single and it’s now a three to one Astros lead. Crossing the plate Yiner Diaz here in the eighth. Doobie has the 1-1. There’s the swing and a hard hit ball down the left field line. That’s fair. It’ll go into the corner. It kicks away from Trel and for Peromo. He’s got exactly what the Diamondbacks need, a leadoff double. Another opportunity for Catel here with runners in scoring position. Breaking ball ripped into right field. That’s a base hit. They will hold at third as Smith came firing to the plate. First and third for Carol and a pitch here from Souza. Left on left. Corbin blasts it down the line. And here we go. Pomo will score. Catel stops at third. Corbin way over second. Shawn Lin puts on the brakes. Boy, Corbin Carroll was flying around second base at top speed and had to hit the emergency break as they stopped Marte at third. Another questionable hold over there at third base by Shawn Larkin. It looked like Catel Marte could have scored on this play. He realized it was going to get down in that right field corner right away. He thinking about scoring and Corbin’s expecting him to score, but you can see Shan Lin almost near home plate throwing up the stop sign. Now lefty on lefty matchup with Josh Naylor batting with a base loaded. Naylor swings, hits a shallow pop up into right center. It’s falling fast. That’s down. Catel is going to score. Everybody moves up 90 ft and we are tied at three. Three. Naylor found the Bermuda Triangle and it dropped in between three Astros. Grick now will face they have two righties up in the bullpen. They’ll stick with the lefty. Souza against Gritic. Ground ball to short. Could be two short to Matthews for one and they turn the double play to keep the game tied. So Bennett Susa gives up four hits and a walk but he gets the huge double play to get out of the inning and we head to the ninth tied at three. Short tries to butt. Kinko will bare hand and his throw not in time. Short showing some speed but I’m with you. It took a little while for that to develop once that ball was buted out in front of home plate. It looked like Ginkle had a shot. Tal gets the bunt down. Ginkle again. This time a bare hand again and again safe. Wow. Naylor came off the bag as that throw was coming to first and Trel has himself a butt hit. Now it’s Christian Walker. Christian doubled and scored to lead off the sixth, but he has struck out three times today. Ground ball towards the middle and through. Zack Short’s going to score. Heading to third. Trel 43 Astros. Christian Walker a huge RBI against his former team. Giner up at the plate now with a runner at third base less than two outs as the Astros look for more. Swung on. That’s popped up. Naylor into foul territory with plenty of room. Will make the catch and nowhere to go for the runners. They hold and now two down for the rookie snake killer and Matthews. Swing and a miss. Stuck him out. A high inside. 42 games this season, 26 of 27 in save opportunities for Josh her and make it 0 for three with two strikeouts. Hater picks up the first out here in the bottom half of the ninth. Well, Haraldo Pomo the last man standing going back to last night. He has base hits in six consecutive plate appearances. Three for three today. Pomo bloops it into left. There you go. And a chance for Catelomo four for four. hits in seven consecutive plate appearances. Well, the game started with a leadoff homer by Catel Marte. Can’t think of a better way to end it than a walk-off. Wouldn’t that be some wood? Called third strike. Astros sweep the Diamondbacks. Josh her remains perfect here in Chase Field. 11 and 2/3 without a run over his career. And Blumber, the Astros keep rolling some way somehow. Now the best record in the American

  1. It's time for ABS. What a frustrating season and especially management. Bizarre decisions and lack of fundaments really let this team down.
