49ers camp is back. Who was the first one at practice and whomst is catching asses? New sprint rat option podcast starts now. We still don’t have the music. Imagine it in your head. I mean, we need a new intro, guys. Ladies and gentlemen, we need a new intro. If anyone’s watching and you want to help us out with that, we will pay. We will pay. We will 100% pay for a new intro. We need just We need the music. We the music needs to stay. We just need Trey Lance and Robbie Gold out of the intro video and Debo Samuel and Debo. Well, Debo Samuel works as a Niners legend. He could He’s an evergreen. He could be in there for forever. And if we’re talking about training camp, the first pass that was completed today in Washington Commanders training camp. Yeah. Jaden Daniels bomb. Debo Samuel touchdown. Boom. That wasn’t It wasn’t a quick slant against the Rams. Nice. Too soon. Too soon. Hey, it’s a new spit ride option podcast. I am Andrew Pascinu joined as always by Jason Aante. Jason Aante, we got a lot to get into. Let’s start with maybe the biggest news of the day. Biggest news of the day. Matt Myoko tweeted unfortunately been deleted, but really we we got to cover it. This is our angle. Jawan Jennings caught three asses during team drills as he seeks a new contract. He is not taking the hold in route. It’s an all time It’s an alltime typo. It’s an alltime typo. Joan Jennings got three asses. And honestly, Jason, 49ers football has never been more back. Can you Is there a way I mean, look, if you can’t post it, if you can’t put it up on the screen, it’s fine. You don’t have to. I got you. I got you. I got you. All right. All right. Um, first of all, I want to start this by saying that Mameyoko is incredible at what he does. He’s always been very nice to me. He has, you know, given me a lot of good advice anytime that I’ve crossed paths with him. And the reason that I feel like I can laugh at this is because I feel like I’ve interacted with him enough to understand his sense of humor. And I’m sure he got a kick out of it, right? like he got a kick out of it for a little while, right? And then obviously I think you know his his better judgment came in and where he said he had to take it down. But this is one of those this is one of those canon 49ers Twitter moments. Y right like every time Jawan Jennings does something in 2025 this will be brought up. Yeah. And it’s just it’s I have questions. Right. And there’s plenty of ways that you can come at this joke. I want to start with one. Um, Jan Jennings caught three Dak Prescotts. Good, good, good, good, good. Like it. You got one? I got I got one. So, I I was thinking more of a running bit throughout the season. Uh, if the Niners had a sense of humor, uh, anytime we get one of those famous third and Jawan first down catches, uh, old Billy Gun, I’m an assman. I think that’s a good bit. I think that’s a good bit. The other question is who’s throwing these asses? Because catch All right, so look, catching the asses, Jimmy Garopppolo was throwing them. Boom. There you go. Bam. That’s a good one. Um, uh, Nate Sunfeld was back in camp throwing asses. Like, look, look, we have a lot of thoughtful analysis. I promise. I promise you. I promise you. But when this tweet came apart and it came out, there was a good 3540 minutes of it just sitting up and just the replies were excellent. Again, nothing against Matt Mayoko. He is incredible. Love you, Matt. Um, you know, I I’d love to talk with you in public, whatever it is that we get a chance to link with, you know, whether it’s the combine, whatever. But my god, man, this is this is one of the funniest moments. A poor Averly. Poor Averly was sitting here on her on her iPad. I just keep reading the tweet. I just keep reading it and I laugh every time. Dude, I’m sitting here I’m sitting here cackling like a maniac just reading it cuz I’m a child. I’m a child. It’s funny. It It is funny. I’m a child. But it just just I’m going to read it out loud uh for the audio. Oh, we don’t do audio anymore. But if you I just want to read I just want to read it so I can laugh. Jawan Jawan Jenny’s caught three asses during team drills. As he seeks a new contract, he is not taking the hold in route. It It’s just it’s a good reminder that it’s the first day of camp for the reporters as well. Sometimes auto correct, you miss the P. Things happen, you know. And the 49er social team, right, the uh the press conference comes out with uh John Lynch and K Shannan 20 minutes, no audio. We’re all just ramp We’re all ramping up. This is all acclamation time right now. I I thought I thought the uh I thought the Lynch Shanahan thing was an homage to uh Rich Madrid for the All 22 angle where there’s just no audio, it’s just football. I thought it was a Rich Madrid homage, just All 22. I liked it. I I thought I I thought it was a good potential for people to kind of fill in the lines how they wanted to. And I I almost thought about like clipping some of it and just interpreting what I thought they said in the video and being like John Lynch said that, you know, John Lynch was gonna try and trade for Terry McLaren and then just no audio, you know, just just anything I wanted to make up. I I that I thought I I I giggled at that one. I’m not going to lie. I giggled at that one. I’m not done with the jokes either. Jerry Rice could never Jerry Rice has never caught no asses. I mean, I don’t want to hear I mean, he caught bricks. I like what are you like like or like Jawan Jennings is already the best 49ers wide receiver because he’s caught three more asses than Jerry Rice. Like what what record did you ever think that was someone who was going to break with Jerry Rice? Terrell Owens has never done that. Not even Brandon Aayuku held out all last year. Like Jawan Jennings is really determined to get the bag and he’s going to get it any way necessary. I like Jerry Rice could never. He could never. Well, well, as as 49ers podcasters, Jason Aonte, we have to ask the question, what does this mean for the contract negotiations? Does this does the agent go up and hey, listen, like 75 receptions last year, almost 1,000 yards, six touchdowns, three asses caught today? Like, what else do we need to see? Well, there’s got to be now multipliers for the amount of asses, right? So like during the season if you catch more like you know he has a multiplier for 50% um snap share and and 75 catches now if it’s over 7 to 10 asses how how much more does you have to add into this B like the the price is going up. John Lynch Kyle Shanahan if you’re watching um Perog Jed Gord you’ve got to get this done because there’s another day of camp tomorrow. Lord knows how many more asses he’s going to catch. What does this do for the Terry McLuren hold out as well? Does this change the market for Terry McLuren? Like, does he have to start catching asses? Does he have to start posting videos of him at home catching asses? Like, I just I don’t know. Terry McLuren was at a yoga class today, so maybe he caught some asses, too. Okay. Hey. All right. All right. 49ers camp. Are we ready? We ready to get there? We’re ready. We’re ready. Shout out to everybody that stuck with us, man. Appreciate that. Shout out to Ariel. Everybody in here, like, thank you for indulging us. I just I I couldn’t, man. I’ve been I’ve been holding on to that all day. Jason, do you want to open up with field direction or the first man on the field? Which one we opening with? I think it’s got to be first man on the field. This is such a This is This has become such a thing. And for anybody that doesn’t know, you know, for us lowly people that can’t get credentialed, right? Um, we would be in the stands and it would be Andrew I, Brad, you know, um, Raj, Rohan, you know, all the all the guys, you know, that that that go there and do 49ers content and it would be a race to to type out who’s the first person out and some some G it would be Tyler No, Funga, Derell Lutter Jr., he’s got that dog, that proverbial dog in him. Um, and he’s the first one out. So Jerrell Jr. wants to go. Uh our live stream banner is covering it up. Uh but shout out the SF niners. Brad Graham getting this video. The allimportant first person on the field. It was a big question entering camp for me especially as you mentioned with Delano Hufanga gone. He no longer on the team. He’s out in Denver and he was a big like first player on the field. And so Derell Lutter really stepping up and this is this is a big camp for Derel Lutter, right? Like no we don’t really know what the role is. Is this going to help his stock in in camp in preseason? First one on the field for the first camp. I that that’s a huge deal to me and I I think that’s something that I’m very glad we touched on Jason Aante because I just don’t think a lot of people touch on it enough and and I think the first person on the field maybe the most important part of camp. Andrew is joking, but I do I do have serious analysis here. Yes, I really do believe that the 49ers and and we’ve talked about it. The outside corner position is very scary. The 49ers have a bunch of nickel corners. A bunch of them. Upton Stout, Damodor Lenor, Trey Brown, who actually had a really good day today and I think we have to start talking about him as well. They’ve got three nickels. Mhm. But the outside corner if it’s going to be Lenor and Renardo Green is who? Yep. Jacob Robinson is somebody that’s undrafted. I really think the 49ers want Derell Lutter to take this spot and run with it. And I think they’ve had this in mind for him for a while. This is a very important camp. If we’re talking about players who need to have a big camp, Derell Lutter is somebody that the 49ers absolutely are looking to. And in a perfect world, in a perfect world, which the 49ers do not live in, Derell Lutter, Renardo Green, Damodor Lenor, and Dad Lenor kicks inside. Yeah. in in a perfect world, they would love to do that, but Derell Lutter has to step up. And that’s that’s really what I want to take uh I want to take from this. And realistically, too, think about the the cornerbacks Derell Lutter has beaten out to stay on the roster, right? Like Andy Thomas no longer here. Samuel Wmack no longer here. And that was a surprise cut what last year I think it was. Time flies, Jason. So I think it was last year. So So and and he ended up having a decent year in Indianapolis. So, so we’re we’re talking about Derell Lutter here because he he’s had some injury issues. He he’s just kind of stayed on the roster. Um, and and he he’s he’s as I said, he’s beaten out Ambry Thomas. Ambry Thomas gone, right? And and Samuel Wak gone. Uh, why not just sign Asante Samuel? Uh, Jason, I think there’s a few teams asking that question. I’ll let you let you take this one. I think it’s the he hasn’t hit his landmarks yet. Like, he hasn’t he hasn’t fully fully shown. And I mean, you could say that for a bunch of things cuz we’re going to talk about that with the wide receiver room. Like I think the 49ers have to really really start to look at Keenan Allen, Amari Cooper, Tyler Boyd, uh you know, even I mean DJ Ch is getting interest. I mean, they brought in Gabe Davis for uh for a visit even before all this stuff has been happening, which we’re going to get into with the wide receiver room. I think you’re going to see things ramp up a little bit more, but I think with Asante Samuel, he just hasn’t hit his landmarks for his return from the injury. Yeah. And then I mean, not to make it about the receiver, they did bring in uh Ecuanmia St. Brown. US Ner number seven. He’s a body, but hey, he has starting experience within the NFL, so it’s something start. Hey, 16 games started in 2022, pal, for the Chicago Bears, and that was a real serious operation in Chicago in 2022. Uh the only thing he’s starting is he starts the podcast with his brother. I like it. That that’s that that’s a good one. I like that. Gave him gave him number seven. Uh for what that’s worth, I don’t I don’t know what that means. Less podcasters, more football players. That’s just my stance on almost everything except Fred Warner. Fred Warner, you’re a football player before a podcaster. Just throwing it out there. And you don’t have to do the podcast either though, Fred. Like just just letting you know like like if you just want to like if you really want to like focus in on football and just get away from the podcasting, I I also stand with you in that in that regard. I I like that. I like that idea. At least he’s not saying crazy things on his podcast like Michael Parsons. That’s okay. Uh Jason, another thing kind of opening with just something different. Uh, for those of you who haven’t been to camp, uh, I’ve been once, Jason, you’ve been a few times. Uh, they did change the field direction for what that’s worth. Uh, used to run north south, now runs east west. And what that really does is it opens up space. Something I’ve never heard before. They’re they’re running with two fields out there. One is under a 100red yards, the other is 165 yards. assuming what is and I haven’t seen the setup but but I’m assuming what that means is they can kind of have different people doing different things on different sides and have plenty of room to do it. Maybe Jason you have more insight on that. Yeah, it’s it’s for they can host the joint practices now in Santa Clara. So now you can now you can do now you can do both sides of the field um in that way. Um, I I did the joint practices with the Chargers and the NerS when it was in my god I forget. You know, it was it was somewhere. It was like Orange County, I think, or something like that, you know, in Cali. But, uh, you do need all that because you’ve got the two teams doing the things. You got first a first team, first team, second team, second team, and then you’ve got, you know, the the position thing. So, like the 49ers just want to be able to host the joint practices without having them to travel too far. And they they are going to have joint practices. I like that. Yeah. And and it’s it’s it’s a little different. Uh Shanahan even mentioned how it’s a little confusing all that and but you know what whatever may work whatever works and and I think what helps too is um I I don’t think they had specific if and maybe I’m misremembering but they didn’t really have specific areas where like the kickers could go to and I know that’s a conversation we’ll get to in a little bit. Oh that’s a big deal but but I I believe now there’s like an area for them but I I haven’t seen it. By the way also I just do want to preface by the way uh just throwing this out there. Jason Deonte and I should have said it at the top of the show. Jason Aante and I were not at camp today. Uh so these are opinions that we saw through Twitter. Well, I just got to let the people know, right? Uh the these these are things we saw through Twitter. So you guys all have access to this information as well that we’re kind of reacting to. I just I just don’t want people to think that that hey, we we were at camp today. So So I just want to throw it out there. Yeah. And and and I don’t think we’re giving opinions on anything that isn’t something that we can give we didn’t have to you didn’t have to be at camp to talk about what we’re talking about right now. So like like right like like when it comes to when we get into what people are saying, we are just going to tell you what people are saying and then give thoughts on that. I don’t have strong the one thing I cannot stand is strong opinions about who’s doing what at what and you didn’t watch any. Yes. I haven’t watched any cuz I I don’t I don’t have strong op I I can’t have a strong opinion on who’s doing what. I can tell you what someone said and it depends on who you trust, but there will be no strong opinions about if I’m not there, I’m not going to give those opinions and I’m sorry. I would have loved to have gotten there, but yeah, it’s very expensive and you know, got kids and [ __ ] like it’s hard. Yeah, I just I just wanted to get it out there, let the people know that we’re basing opinions based off of things of we saw on Twitter today. Uh Jason, the first big one today. Let’s kind of start with the big news outside of what he may or may not have caught. Uh we we touched on him a little bit on the start, but really the big news today, Jawan Jennings practiced today despite his contract disputes with the 49ers. Uh that tells me that things are going well uh with the team. Jawan Jennings, he he looked like he was dancing around having a good time in the videos I saw. Uh but but that that’s really a big change and not necessarily what we thought was going to happen. And uh there there were thoughts of the hold in last week happening, but but especially with what you saw Brandon at you do last offseason, seeing Jawan Jennings there today, very good, very good sign, especially for the contract negotiations. I I think I saw Grant Con, he mentioned he wouldn’t be surprised if if something’s announced at the end of the week or something like that. Uh it doesn’t really take much to put two and two together because if if if they were further away in in conversations, I don’t think Joan Jennings would have been out there today. Yeah. Um, a few things are going to happen before padded practices. Um, Jawan Jennings is going to get his deal and and Ricky Pieraw is going to be activated. Um, so yes, we’re worried, but the idea that Jawan Jennings is there, I think, is is twofold. One, he knows that something’s going to get done, and two, he’s not in the same position as Brandon Aayuk. He’s just not. Right. Even when you look at the shape of this room and and you see the injuries and now we have that we have another injury which this one really hurts me the most. Um it’s not the same thing. It’s not the same thing. Brandon Iayuk was coming off of a 1300 yard season. He was a second team allpro. He is the ex receiver that can get himself open. But Jawan Jennings realizes to strike while the iron’s hot. And I think the 49ers know where they’re going to sit. He knows where they’re going to sit. They’ll get it done before padded practices because you don’t want to let that linger on any further. And you know, that’s definitely a good sign that he’s going to be there. So Ricky Pieraw will will be activated before practices, before padded practices. And Jawan Jennings will have his his nice little come up on the deal. And you know what? Kudos to him and his agent, man. They played that masterfully. Yeah. And and speaking of Ricky Pierce, saw uh saw David Lombardi tweet regarding him. Uh he was moving well. According to uh Lombardi uh while working with the training staff, Shanahan said he’s already hit top speed. Uh again, we’re I’m going to say this sentence plenty of time. Shout out Brad Graham uh for getting video. Here’s here’s a little bit of uh I mean this is the epitome of training camp videos to me, Jason Aonte. Here’s a video of an NFL player running a sprint uh along the field. Ricky Pierce all looking good. Uh he’s been dealing with a leg injury that we may or may not know what’s actually going on, but but the way it sounds is he’s he’s going to be good to go by Sunday. He’s going to be activated from the pup list. Uh but I it it seems small, right? It seems small, but with where you’re at at the position of wide receiver, right? You have cowing pulling a hamstring earlier today. We’ll talk about that at length here in a bit. Uh Jawan Jennings uncertainty with a contract even though we’re pretty certain. Ricky Pieraw uncertain with his injury. And then you have Demarcus Robinson facing a potential three-game suspension, whatever may happen. Really any function or any action that gets a wide receiver closer to the field right now is is a positive for the 49ers with just how little is going on. Uh Jesse, uh any word on how Jaylen Herd looks? Uh I heard this might be his breakout year. Unfortunately, no Jaylen Herd updates today. Jesse, uh, we appreciate the concern. Uh, you just kind of upset Jason there. Now, you know, that’s okay. That’s okay. But Jason, what what do you think about this uh 7-second clip of Ricky Pearl running? I have to be excited about this. Looks good. It does. And you know, I know we’ve given Kyle Shanahan and and the guys a lot of flack about injury updates and everything, but that lines up with what he was saying is that he’s at his top MPH and we don’t want to rush him. They’re just waiting for pads to go on, right? The problem is Monday pads on Monday. Pads on Monday. Yes. The problem is is this Ricky Paw has to be good. And not just good, very good as a first round pick. Very good. He has to be very good. Let’s just be frank. This isn’t a guy that is like, “Oh, we kind of hope.” No, no, no. First round pick. The the nature of how this wide receiver room is going to look, what you know about Brandon Iayuk, what you invested in Ricky P, he has to be good. Mhm. Not that I’m saying it’s unfair pressure because he is a first round pick and I don’t think that he’s feeling it or anything. like that. But the expectations are different. Ricky Pieraw can’t just go into the season and go into training camp and just be floating around and just be running routes and just be like, “Oh, it’s cool that he’s out there.” No, he’s got to be impactful. He’s got to catch passes. He’s got to start to emerge. And I hate to put all that on a second year player, but it is what it is. Given this room, given what they’ve invested, given what they believe that he’s going to be, he’s got to be good. He’s got to be real good. He can’t just be running around. So, I’m going to take this as optimism and and you know what? I’m I’m optimistic that he’s going to make it through camp and he’ll play a little bit in the preseason, but you know, all eyes need to be on on week one and and we need to make sure that we keep that in perspective. Like, I don’t really care what happens in the preseason, but let there be no doubt in your mind about how I feel. He has to be good. And just just with everything going on at the receiver position, he has to be good and healthy, right? Like like he has to stay healthy in camp and that really should be the priority. I know a lot of people are going to be excited to see him on the field, but like again, if it re it’s a different look with the 49ers this year on both sides of the ball at those wide positions with wide receiver and cornerback because really those are positions that that there’s been plenty of depth in the past previous seasons where where you know, yeah, Josh Norman like you talk about him not being great, but you know that that’s a quality player in depth positions. Zambi Thomas there there’s been talent in the depth that like hey you don’t necessarily want them to play but you know they could step in. That’s not the case this year at wide receiver or cornerback where if any any of those two spots get an injury ners are in some trouble. And so with with Pieraw getting there it good but it’s really about staying healthy and and it seems like it’s been a weird nagging hamstring injury. So, to me, there’s no reason to rush. If if Shanahan feels like he’s he’s ready to go uh for for Sunday, then he’s he’s ready to go for Sunday. And that that’s just kind of what it is. Uh but it’s a promising promising start uh for for Ricky Pieraw at least. Promising start. Let’s pivot from Ricky Pieraw to Jordan Watkins. Mhm. And this is unfair to put on Jordan Watkins, but this may be the nature of where we are if things go a different way, right? Jordan Watkins is going to have to play substantial snaps in football, right? Demarcus Robinson’s going to be suspended. They brought him in here as veteran depth. Ricky Pieraw, you hope is going to play. Jawan Jennings is the only guy that you can really pencil in right now and just say, “Hey, he’s gonna be fine.” Yeah, but you Jacob cowing when I hear hamstring I don’t know if it’s torn once I hear hamstring all bets are off. Yeah. Now, I definitely like this is the stuff that knocked out Pierce off for the entire off seasonason basically, right? And it just sucks because Cowing was doing so well. You know, I still believe in the player. You know, I think he’s in a phenomenal role. You guys know my feelings on Jacob Cowan, but Jordan Watkins, I think, you know, hearing today and and now I’m giving an opinion on something that I didn’t see. But when four and five and six people continue to say Jordan Watkins was doing well today, Mhm. then I think we have to start to listen to that. So, it is a little bit unfair for Jordan Watkins to be kind of thrust into that, but it’s good to hear that he’s been doing very well. Uh, from that comment just came in. Hey, that it’s, you know, I’m not going to draw attention to it. It’s it’s in the spirit of dodgeball. You know, I got it. I I’m not going to put it on the screen. Uh, but Jason Deonte going from a player who’s been dealing with injuries this off season to players who dealt with injuries last year. Trent Williams, Christian McCaffrey, they participated in positional drills, but not team drills. I I don’t I don’t know what they need to do in team drills. Jason Deonte, they’ve kind of established themselves as really good NFL players. Nothing for them really to show. Uh here’s a quick little clip. Uh let me let me pull up the share screen here. A quick little clip that uh David Lombardi posted just of of McCaffrey moving. And that that gets me excited, Jason, because we didn’t get to see much of Christian McCaffrey moving last season. Uh the last time we saw him get moving, uh he had a pretty explosive play against the Buffalo Bills, uh gets tripped up on the ankle and and knee hits the ground. His season ends. I’m really excited to see what Christian McCaffrey has to offer. I know the injury history is a thing with him, but realistically, he’s been in the league for almost 10 years now. Uh he’s really had three seasons where he’s had severe injury issues and two of them were back to back. So So I’m hoping I’m hoping that that this is a fully healthy season. I think a lot of Niner fans are hoping it’s a fully healthy season for Christian McCaffrey. Uh but but good to see him moving and running on a football field. He looks good and he looks fast and I know that’s a 7second clip, but he looks good. He looks sharp. you know, everything is all systems go. But I do want to, if you want optimism under the guise of realism, Kyle Shanahan in his press conference today went out of his way to praise Isaac Gerendo and how much he’s done and how well he’s gone up. And I just wonder if there is a little bit more that will be put on Gendo’s plate. And here’s here’s my line of thinking. I seem to remember I think it’s like maybe two or three years ago. I think Anthony Lynn was the running back’s coach and he was talking about all the running back players, all the running back um in in the room, they had to have a similar skill set to Christian McCaffrey in order to keep Kyle Shanahan in a play calling rhythm and also making sure that you don’t become predictable on offense, right? You know, if Jordan Mason’s on the field, you’re pretty sure that they’re not going to throw him the football. Yeah. Well, who mimics Christian McCaffry skill set more than Isaac Garreno? And not that this is going to be a full-on one-two punch because I still fully expect Christian McCaffrey to be 80 85% snap share, 90% snap share. But I wonder if maybe that gets dialed a little bit back if if Isaac Gendo feels like, you know, he can pass protect and he, you know, he can give a little bit of the same sort of edge that Christian McCaffrey does because he can catch passes. He’s a former wide receiver. He is a home run hitter. So, it it’s interesting the dynamic of it. And I think we’re all excited about Jordan James, who, by the way, he he actually earned some rave reviews today. I believe it was uh Brad, who also said the same thing about him. So Jordan Watkins, Jordan James, the Jordans are doing it and you know, and Jordan Elliot, you know, like uh the the you know, the three Jordans, but I do think that that him praising Isaac Gendo, it it kind of lends itself to that philosophy that Anthony Lynn while he was here was talking about was I don’t think you really have to change up your play calling and you can really be dynamic in what you want to do if Isaac Gendle’s on the field because he does offer that skill set and the 49ers haven’t had a guy who can consistently do that behind Christian McCaffrey. Yeah, and it’s it’s it’s a big spot, especially this season, kind of a twofold way because I’ve I’ve kind of talked myself more into Christian McCaffrey. Maybe a way you kind of take the stress off of him of being a running back is maybe put him in the dbo role. Maybe, and I’m not saying split him out wide as often because he is a running back first, but I’m very curious how many if if maybe we see in the preseason or in the early works of weeks of the season where we see more McAffrey out wide snaps and maybe Gendo playing inside, you know, at running back or or Jordan James, whoever it may be. So, so I think that’s a very very interesting mix you could throw in because it also takes some takes some workload off of Christian McCaffrey, makes it a little easier on him. But I also want to go back to your Anthony Lynn quote because I mean you you mentioned that Isaac Gindle quote and the reason I remember it is because it was in I think May and I remember it it was two years ago Jason because I remember my first thought when I saw that quote was what does that mean for Elijah Mitchell because they they were praising Isaac Gendo so much and now here we are two years later and and Elijah Mitchell no longer with the team he goes and signs with Kansas City Isaac Gendo still here. And and Gendo, he had, you know, he he had a chance to show himself last year after the McAffrey injury, after the Jordan Mason injury, and and he looked, I’m not going to sit here and say he was the best running back, but he looked like a serviceable player. And and and for a third string running back entering his rookie season to get to that point and and look like a serviceable running back, that is a positive step to me. So So how they build off of that, the building block is there. We saw what it looks like a little bit and now there’s a chance where maybe McAffrey is going to do a few different things in this offense to where maybe it’s not going to be the the 75% carry load for Christian McAffrey that we’re used to or the 80% whatever it may be and maybe it’s closer to like 60 40 65 35 and McAffrey is doing more in the passing game especially with the lack of receivers. So so I I I think it’s it’s an interesting thing to note with Gendo. I think that’s something I I think for some players I I don’t like the preseason, right? I don’t think the preseason’s a huge huge deal in terms of what what the spots are on the team, but I’m very curious to see what Isaac Gendo looks like in these three preseason games because he’s going to get chances, right? He’s going to be running back one of the pre these preseason games because there’s no reason to put Christian McCaffrey out there. And so when he’s going to be getting, you know, maybe maybe he shares the carries with Jordan James, that that’s still going to be a lot of preseason reps for him. and to see kind of how he developed from last year to this. Well, if we’re talking about the 49ers wide receiver room being iffy, how else do you maximize the efficiency of the offense and, you know, keep CMC as healthy as possible and try to keep him away from those hits up the gut and all those things. And you know, you create these mismatches out of the back field with Christian McCaffrey, lining him up on a slot guy or a linebacker and having him he, you know, again, Isaac Grenle’s a former wide receiver. There’s multiple ways to go about this. So, this is my thing. While we’re worried about the wide receiver room, I trust Kyle Shanahan and the weapons that you do have. Mhm. To be able to craft an offense that can still create explosives, create mismatches, and still get up and down the field. I believe in the quarterback. I believe in the running back. I believe in the tight end. I believe Jawan Jennings is fine, right? Like, I think all of these things are true. But there’s got to be a mix and match and a give and take way that you do this. This can’t just be, hey, listen, we don’t have wide receivers, so we’re going to run uh we’re going to run Christian McCaffrey 37 times up the gut. No, no, no, no. That’s not what I’m talking about. If it means you’re dialing back Christian McCaffry’s carries to get him catches in space, I mean, for God’s sakes, you did it with Debo Samuel for how long in which you just you threw him the football and you just said, “Please just gain us yards.” You can do the same exact thing. So, I think I guess my worry is less about what is this wide receiver group and more Ky Shanahan, I believe in you to be able to maximize this offense and be able to get these guys in position to succeed. Part of that is going to be using Christian McCaffrey in the way that you use Debo Samuel, moving around Isaac Gendo and splitting him out in motion and saying, “Hey, listen. Good luck running uh good luck linebacker. Let’s see if you can cover him.” You have multiple ways to attack on offense and I don’t want to hear that this offense is stalling because Ricky Pieraw is not here and even though I just said he needs to be good or if Ricky Pierce is not playing or you know oh the depth is you know Jacob Cowing is not there. I don’t want to hear any of that. I think you still have enough if you’re the guy that we think you are and you have that amount of cuz there’s still people that would kill for for these three guys. There’s teams in the NFL that would kill for this group of three primary weapons. George KD, Christian McCaffrey, and Jawan Jennings. And that’s not even me being funny. If you look around the league sometimes, you’re just going to look around and say, “Hey, listen. You know, some people would say, “Hey, I mean, obviously, you know, our tight end’s better than yours, right? You know, obviously Chris McCaffrey is.” But there’s some teams that’ll still say, “Yo, we’ll take Jawan Jennings like right there in that spot.” So, I still think you have to find a way to be able to do this. I don’t want to I don’t want to lean on this whole like, oh, the wide receiver room is barren now and now the offense No, the offense hasn’t stalled. You’ve been able to do more with less. And I’ve seen it. I I’ I’ve watched games in 2018 when you were able to get Maris Goodwin to score touchdowns and you had us believing Richie James was going to be good. For for shit’s sake, you you had us thinking that Trent Taylor was about to be really good. Like, there’s got to be ways for you to get this offense rolling. So, I’m not going to lean on this whole wide receiver room is, oh, they’re all hurt. Oh, we wo is me on the offense. No, Kyle Shanahan, step up. It’s It’s you now, bro. And you got to find a way to to put these combinations together. Uh Jason, from from the weapons around him, and I’m very proud of this podcast and the 49ers as well because this feels like the first time in in the history of this podcast that we’re 30 minutes into the first training camp episode and we’re finally mentioning the quarterback position and it’s really not much to talk about. Uh, the first play of team practice was party hitting George KD deep on a corner route. Don’t know. I I saw Lombardi tweet something out that it was the first time in the Shanahan history that they’ve ran a pass play on the first play of training camp. I don’t know how you keep track of that. I I would say that every year. I would just be like first time they’ve ever ran a run play next year if that’s the case. Uh, but uh, a couple notes. I don’t know what it means, but D Winters had a pretty good interception allegedly on a slant route. Jumped the route which is huge. And then another player had an interception. Uh Jason Pinoch Niners signed him from the Giants. Uh he had a diving interception on what Matt Moko described as a a a wounded duck. Uh I’ve I’ve read that the ball slipped from Perie’s hand. A and really I mean I I joke that we talk haven’t talked about the quarterback. I’m more making it about the safety. Uh this is this is another position. I mean it kind of goes handinhand with the quarterback situation. And this video here is from uh the SF Ners. This isn’t the interception, I don’t believe. Uh it’s just Jason Penock doing drills. Uh but George O George ODM released over the weekend as well. He’ll be back. He he’ll he’ll be back. More of a special teams player, but he has safety reps. Uh he has played safety for the 49ers. They’ll star him over Pinnock, I think. Ner safety situation though, very scary slim right now. So So Jason, Pinnick, I I don’t know where he fits necessarily. Uh, is this is this a camp that might put him in a position to start at the start of the season, especially with Malik Mustafa injury unsure of? Jier Brown unsure, George ODM currently not on the roster. Uh, I know there’s a rookie there as well. Where where do you see the safety room right now? Yeah, it’s tough right now. I mean, it’s Jer Brown um who obviously is going to get the first crack. It sounds like Malak Mustafa is not going to be able to be ready for the start of the season. I hope I’m wrong. Um, Pinnock is somebody that that I think Robert Salah really likes. And I think one thing I want to point is whatever defensive decisions are made, this is going to be Robert Salah’s show. Robert Salah is not putting out anybody out there that he I part of the reason that he’s here is I’m running this. Mhm. And I I like that because I want Kyle to focus fully on offense and and get the offense rolling, right? Take some off his plate and and leave it in the hands of Salah. So I would say right now, if I was guessing, it would probably be Pino and and Ja Brown. But I think George ODM is going to come back and I do think Kyle’s going to have a little bit of say in that at least because I don’t know if you guys remember last year um before you know Malc Mustafa took over it was George ODM like I can just see Justin Jefferson running between Jaier Brown and him you know on a 98 yard touchdown and we too I forgot about that play. Thanks for casually reminding me about that. You’re welcome. Who threw who threw that ball? You’re welcome. Sam Darnold. Uh Sam was he a Niner? The Darnold Duck. Um, what’s what’s funny to me is that that is I mean that’s a concern and I’ve already told you that I’m worried about the quarterback death because after the I’m talking about outside cornerback dep whether it’s Trey Brown, Upton Stout, and whether it’s Damodor Leno, but it’s after Damodor Leno and Ronaldo Green outside where things are about to get really, really, really, really spooky. And that’s going to be the way that I keep putting this. But I did want to kind of point something out um to say and and not really like you know make it a big point because it is only day one and there’s no pads that went on. Luke Gford took the first team reps at linebacker next to Fred Warner. I want to say that to say this. Luke Gford’s a special teamer, but Luke Gford is handpicked by Robert Salah and Robert Salah trusts him a little bit and they wanted to see what’s going to go on. Look, my prediction is is that D. Winters is going to start, right? Nick Martin was behind him. I think as long as D. Winters is healthy, they’re going to give him the first crack. As much as I kind of felt like, hey, they don’t really love him. The interception today really helps. Everybody’s really kind of excited about him. You know, it would have been really nice if he would have got those reps over that [ __ ] scrub Devandre Campbell last year. But hey, you know, Kyle Shanahan, it’s so funny. Kyle Shanahan this year is like, “Oh, we want to let the rookies play.” Well, you should have let you should have played him over Devandre Campbell last year. I don’t understand what the difference is, but that’s neither here nor there. But I did think it was kind of interesting that Luke Gford was the first person that was up um as opposed and I don’t think anybody saw that coming as opposed to uh D. Winters, who I think we all just assume was going to, you know, kind of like lead the pack and and doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s going to win the job, but, you know, I think D. Winters has the first crack at it. I’m trying to I’m trying to find it, but I believe it’s in Matt or Nick Wagner’s uh massive text, which by the way, if you guys don’t follow Nick Wagner, um Nick Wagner is one of the best he’s one of the best follows, especially during training camp because he he types an article out onto Twitter, uh every thought. Uh, but Jason, for what it’s worth, and I have it right here, uh, Niners defense opened with Mike Williams and Sam O at the DE, Kevin Given, and Jordan Elliot. Fred Warner, D. Winters, and Luke Gford at linebacker. So, all three of them. So, it sounded like they were going with uh, uh, Winters on the weak side. Gford, so that’s just base. So, so something you won’t see much. Uh, so, so, hey, it’s something to note. It’s something interesting that Gford is getting those reps with the team. Uh, especially it is day one as well, right? That that’s that’s the preface here. Uh Jason, let’s kind of start talking about the defense a little. Actually, let’s talk about both sides of the ball. Uh really the least important part of the early part of camp, but just kind of something to talk about uh is the defensive and offensive line. And I’m just going to let this I’m gonna make this minute and a half video. Uh just pull it up. Matt Matt Borrows posted all the rookies on the on the line together. Uh Mike Williams, Alfred Colin, CJ West. Here’s the video here. You can’t hear the music. I had to mute it. But that crazy train by a make it full screen. Now if I make uh let me pull it over. Let me see what we can do here. Uh Z. No, no, no. The video. Just click full screen. Boom. Bam. We got it. There we go. Uh here’s here’s the whole video. Uh but but just kind of both sides of the ball here just to clean it up. Uh the starting offensive line was Bford at left tackle for team drills. Uh that’s obviously because Trent Williams in play. Nick Zackle, he was at left guard. Jake Brendle at center. Zach’s stepping in for uh Ben Bar who’s dealing with a non-foot injury right now. Dominic Puny at right guard and Colton McKivittz at right tackle. Uh really the big things that I saw about Mike Williams and Alfred Collins is people talking about how big both of them were, uh Grant Conn mentioned in one of his videos that on pass rushing situations, Mike Williams was kicked onto the interior. Kind of what a lot of people thought would happen. Uh and per Grant Con, he cooked Dominic Puny in a rep, but again, no pads. I’m not taking too much press. It’s just it’s interesting. I I think the value of this is to kind of see what the team is thinking at least in terms of depth chart. And again, that’s very loose, right? That that’s not a very deep thing because it’s it’s the first day of practice. We’re not Luke Gford’s not going to be your week one strong side linebacker, right? But it does kind of give you the idea and it can confirm previous thoughts of Mikel Williams. Kick him to the interior. Okay, we saw it first day camp. So Jason, um, not much with both sides of the line. Uh, I know people are obsessed with the offensive line and kind of where it’s at, uh, because there’s this perception that it’s a bad offensive line. It’s a fine offensive line, Jason. Any any thoughts on the defensive pass rush? Any thoughts on the offensive line uh, that we can get out here on the early part of C uh, practice? I guess really it’s more about Spencer Berford being on the left side, right? Um, Jaylen Moore’s gone. Spencer Berford played on the left side in college. Spencer Berford does kind of feel like what the 49ers can pivot to as a cheap replacement when Trent Williams decides to walk away from the game. And that’s kind of something that I’ve been kind of just throwing out there just as look, you never know, right? like the 49ers. Look, say whatever you want and I know you you don’t have really nice things to say about it, but investment in the line is they may have the guy in their building right now that they want to replace Trent Williams with. You know, just because you went from Joe Staley to Trent Williams doesn’t mean you can go from Joe Staley to Trent Williams to the next great Hall of Fame left Pu, right? You know, I mean, the Lions aren’t really going to be competing. They might as well just move off of him in my opinion. Um, but the Spencer Berford thing is very interesting because that’s kind of where I thought the team was going to go where Berford is just there and he’s going to be the backup left tackle and he could be the guy. By the way, fun little fact and I know this is going to piss you guys off a lot. Jesus Christ. Josh Simmons is starting at left tackle um in the first day of camp um with the Kansas City Chiefs and no one wanted to take a chance on him because of that leg and Jaylen Moore is on the right side. And that is insane to me because we were joking about well Josh Simmons is going to get drafted by the Chiefs and he’s never going to miss a game. Reminds me of somebody else the 49ers took a chance on for you know nobody wanted to touch Frank Gore. Frank Gore never missed a game after he blew his leg out like three times in college. But regardless, um the McKivvis thing is fine. You know, they are going to probably roll with Brendle. Um Barts will be back and he’ll be like the the head of the pack there. Um but I did kind of see that it was interesting that the first man up at left tackle was Spencer Bford and I think that’s kind of where they want him to be. And if god forbid that he has to get president of duty at left guard, you know, that’s the guy that they would do it and and Nick Zel. But Nick Zel is probably profiling as the backup center right now. Yeah. I mean, again, it’s it’s it’s the early part of camp. Not much to the offensive line, but yeah, you’re absolutely right. I I think I think we really got to prepare ourselves for Spencer Ber to be the uh the left tackle of the future, at least for now. Uh never at least put it in your brain. At least put it in your brain cuz Trent’s not going to be here forever and then this could be Trent’s last year. And the Niners have gone very cheap on the offensive line. A lot of people don’t seem to like it, but again, like ultimately what it comes down to is is it’s not a bad offensive line. It is an average to slightly above average to slightly below average offensive line depending on the week, right? Jinx, you owe me a Coke. Uh but but it’s just kind of the situation it is. Uh so there there there it is. The only two rookies on defense to get first team reps were were Mike Williams and Upton Stout uh early on. That makes sense because Upton Stout is the you know rookie nickel quarterback right now. Makes sense. He he is the first man up. Uh Jason, special teams. Special teams time. Do you want to close your ears? How you want to do? Let’s do it. No, no, no. Honestly, we got to talk about this. We got to talk about Let’s start with the uh the Let’s Let’s make the people wait for what they really want here. Kick returners today. Uh Jordan Watkins, Junior Bergen, Isaac Barendo, Patrick Taylor Jr. Uh Bergen, I He’s He’s probably my favorite. He’s probably my favorite going into it personally. Uh just because of what he did in college. Uh Jordan Watkins. I feel like I’m getting to a point with Jordan Watkins where I think he’s gonna play a bigger role than people think this season. Don’t know why. That’s kind of what I’m feeling. Uh so so if that’s the case or if he’s going to play a bigger role on offense than special team, I I think Junior Bergens could be the guy because realistically Jordan Watkins is going to make the roster as a wide receiver. Isaac Garendo, he’s going to have a big role at running back. He’s going to make the roster. Now it’s between Jun Junior Bergen and and Patrick Taylor. Does Patrick Taylor make this roster returner only? I don’t know. And I think that’s why Bergen has the upper edge. That’s just my take. Mr. Jason, out of out of there. Is is there anybody who jumps out of you as the returner of the future from San Francisco? Isaac Garando. Look, look, look, look. I get it. And we just talked about trying to save Christian McCaffrey and trying to limit and keep him efficient, but Isaac Gendle is the home run hitter here. And don’t forget the 49ers when they were looking for a spark on kick returns, they turned to Debo Samuel. And say whatever you want about Debo Samuel last year, he actually has some really good kick returns because he has the vision. So, I think Isaac Gerendo is going to be that guy that they may not put out there all the time, but when they need a a spark, a big play, they need something, they need a little bit of a home run hit, he’s got the speed and he’s shown it. I mean, he did it in the preseason last season, you know, and and I want to also point out about Isaac Grenle’s season last year. How many times did he get caught like at the one or did he slide at the one like when he had a chance to like score a touchdown? Like he he’s the guy that’s the home run hitter on this team. So, I do think it’s kind of interesting that Isaac Garendo’s in there. I think the one that that like doesn’t matter at all is Patrick Taylor. And I think if Patrick Taylor makes this roster, it’ll be five running backs, right? It’ll be McCaffrey, it’ll be use, it’ll be Gendo, it’ll be Jordan James, and it’ll be Patrick Taylor. And it’ll only be Patrick Taylor because Kyle Shanahan has that fixation and and crutch on, oh, is he going to be able to pass protect even if he doesn’t offer you like much in anything else? But I do think it’s kind of Isaac Garo. I think that’s kind of where I’m leaning here. I think that’s really interesting and I think they should continue with that. However, Junior Bergen is a lifetime special teamer. Um Brent Ber, who’s the special teams coach, his son played with him and that’s how he found him in college and said, “Hey, listen. We’ve got to draft him.” Again, if they’re allowing Robert Salah to pick everybody on defense, they’re allowing Brent Boyer. Obviously, the 49ers have their punter. So, like there’s no competition there, right? and that was Brent Boyer that picked him. But I do think it’s interesting about Isaac Garreno and I think if it’ll all boil down to it in a 53man roster and who’s going to make the team. Junior Berg is probably on the outside looking in and I don’t think the 49ers would hesitate to uh turn it over to Garo because of what he’s shown and because of what he possesses as a as a physical and and and you know gifted runner. The real special teams news today, Jason Ampe, Jake Moody, Greg Joseph, the the kicker battle we’ve been waiting for. Uh both of them went four for four today. One from 30, one from 35, one from 40, one from 50. Uh the big question is is can they make it from 45? Don’t know why they skip 45, but hey, that’s okay, Jason. They both made them both from 50. Both made them from 50. Uh kind of a a new wrinkle to it. Uh they they instead of I guess they they would switch rotations last time over over camp. Uh during the the offseason mini camps, uh they they would kind of rotate days between kicks. Today they rotated kicks. So Moody would line up from 35, made his, Joseph would take 35 so far. So for kind of a little bit of competition, right? The guy after can kind of see a little bit of pressure. I like that. I think that’s a good thing. Uh Nick Bosa seemed very intrigued by the kicking competition. I think he just really wants the Michigan man gone as a as an Ohio State Buckeye. Uh neither here nor there. I’m sure the college rivalry carries through into the NFL. Jason, big kicker guy you are. Uh, day one of camp, man. Who’s who’s who’s got the inside edge in this in this prover proverbial horse race that is the kicker competition? It better be [ __ ] Jake Moody if we invested a top 100 pick. I swear to God. I swear to God. I didn’t expect that much aggression. No, no. Let me let me look in the camera and let me say this. You know, I I I joke a lot. I’m I’m still upset about the pick because it was [ __ ] terrible. But if you wasted that pick on him and you end up turning it over to a guy off the street when all I’ve ever wanted you to do was find a guy off the street and you come to this conclusion after you wasted a top 100 pick and you could have drafted a lineman, you could have drafted a football player and it’s someone else. I will be absolutely furious. Jake Moody, look at me. I’m rooting for you. It better be you. It better be you. And if it’s not you, John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan, you’re going to have to answer some deep questions from somebody who you I won’t even be able to ask you. It has to be the guy you spend a top 100 pick on because if it’s not, that is as big of a failure as Solomon Thomas at three, Ruben Foster at 29. Look at the investment. It was an overinvestment. So Jake Moody, I’m just asking you to do your job. Make the [ __ ] kicks. And if this guy comes and beats you out and my process is proven correct in year three, I’m going to be even more mad because you wasted two years of this and you couldn’t have you shouldn’t have wasted that 100 pick on him. So it better be you, Jake Moody. You better have figured something out. Go to uh you know, go to meditation, clear your mind, you know, whatever it is. Don’t listen to anything. Get out there, make your little cameos that Sour Death Sam makes you make, you know? Like, go ahead. Like, if that’s gonna help you, cool, bro. But I swear on Jesus sandals that this pick 100 is not the kicker this year. And they found a guy off the street to be better than him. I am not going to take a victory lap and I’m not going to be very happy. I don’t like I I I don’t like Listen, there’s nothing more in this world than that I enjoy than being absolutely right. I love telling people I told you so. In this case, I don’t want to tell anybody I told you so. That just makes it even more of a colossal failure. So, Jake Moody, all the pressure is on you, buddy. You better get it done. And if you don’t, someone’s going to have to hear about this. Someone’s going to have to talk about this because you should have already picked up somebody off the street. And that’s how you should always find a kicker for God’s sakes. I did not expect such an impassioned speech. I just wanted to keep it spicy because I didn’t want it to be like I don’t care, man. I like it. I like it. No, I like it. Uh Jason, that’s all I had. I feel like we talked about a lot of names. I feel like we we touched a lot. Was there anything I missed because because that’s fully possible. I miss things and I I wanted I think we talked about a lot. No. Um look, we’re all excited football’s back. We’re all excited to see the the the videos. Um we’re all excited gold on the field, right? We’re all excited to laugh at Jackson Dart’s first pick, you know, first throw being a pick six. We’re all excited to watch that guy who who was trying to take videos of the Cleveland Brown helmet fall into the water. We’re all excited. We’re all excited to see We’re all excited to see Quinton Johnston drop. It’s such a good video. Please look it up. The second The second angle is better. The second angle is better. I saw an angle of the guy who fell’s camera. Yeah. Did you see that? Yes. Let me see if I can pull it. Hang on. Yeah. Um, we’re all excited for that. But camp is an ongoing thing and pads are really going to be when you have to evaluate and which is why right now the, you know, Robert Salah and and Gus Bradley and, you know, um, and Kyle, they’re they’re looking through things and they just want to see how things look. They just want to see how things fit, you know, in terms of of putting guys on the field. And and just, you know what’s funny? Can Can we pause this real quick? Can we pause it? Oh my god, it’s from the camera. Can we pause it? Here’s the funniest thing in the world. They are the Cleveland [ __ ] Browns. The Cleveland [ __ ] Browns. And they’re sponsored by Dude Wipes and they unveil an all brown an all brown helmet and and and let me just say also those uniforms are atrocious. Dream dream blunt rotation right here. The Browns. The Browns mascot. The Browns mascot. Dude wipes. Dude wipes and a brown helmet. And oh boy, falls right in the water. The Cleveland Browns already a mid-season form. Already a mid-season form. How do we angles? How do we have more angles of this than the CEO at the Coldplay concert last year? How do we Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. How do we have more angles of a guy falling in the water and we have none of team drills in San Francisco for any of the any of the plays? Like nothing. Nothing. Let me see if I can find other angles. We’re going to get we’re going to get more more angles here. All right, but my point is it’s day one. We’re all excited. Let’s see when the pads come on. Let’s see when things really get going. That’s when the competition is going to get live. And that’s why, again, I’ll reiterate my predictions. By the time the pads go on Monday, Jawan Jennings will have a new deal. Ricky Pierol will be activated. The wide receiver room is going to come into to a little bit more of a shape. Just sucks about Jacob Cow. And that was such a bummer to hear about that today. Like we just couldn’t get through today without an injury. This is so good. Watch where you’re stepping. What are you doing, dude? What are you doing? Like this step where he realizes there’s nothing there. And just a quick little curl. You know what’s funny? He’s gone. We’ve all missed a step going down the steps. Yeah. Right. So, you know that feeling of you missing of you missing the step and you know what’s about to That’s it. Like he’s got that like half a second, that millisecond before he falls in the water where he just says, “A [ __ ] a shit.” And he just and that’s it. And you’re you’re cooked now and you fall into the water. Cleveland Browns never disappoint, man. Never disappoint. Never disappoint. And I don’t understand the helmet, dude. I It’s just the the outfit is atrocious. It’s It’s atrocious. The The Steelers The Steelers kind of got cooked in atrocious uniforms cuz they’re those yellows were not good. Those suck. Those were not good. Uh the Chargers one was a little disappointing, but the rest of the uniforms were real heat. Speaking of the 49ers and uh uniforms, what are y’all waiting on? I think I Okay, so my guess I’ve seen people say this because a lot of people are like, “Oh, where’s the like the Browns, the Saints?” But none of them have been the rivals uniform. I’m assuming we’re going to get all eight because it’s the AFC East and the NFC West. I’m assuming we’re going to get all eight at one time. Uh because again the Saints was not rivals. The Steelers was not Saints. So the Chargers were not. The The Saints the Chargers was nice. I didn’t like the Saints one. Why? I just I don’t like gold as a uniform, man. And I I got to I’m going to bite my words on that in about two months when we find out what these I was about to say. Watch the whole uniform’s gold. Wait till the spin wait for the spin zone of me being like, man, Niners uniforms all gold. They look real good. Somebody’s gonna pull a clip of Andrew being like the Saints gold uniforms look like [ __ ] But uh I just don’t like the gold, dude. It just doesn’t look good. It’s not a good color on the on uniforms in my opinion. Yeah. No. Well, I think again we’ve kind of just covered everything. Today’s day one. Um I think for everybody that’s eager that’s not going to be there, you know, just tune in to the people that you trust and and and you know, and and I think that’s the best way you can do with this. There’s I The one thing I will say about the 49ers beat is it’s eclectic. You’ve got extremes on one side, you’ve got extremes on the other. You’ve got guys that are in the middle gray, right? Um and I think based on experience, based on things that have come to fruition, you kind of know who you can, you know, look to. But I do want to say that it doesn’t matter who you look to if a few people if all of them are saying the same thing, which is what we’re saying about Jordan Watkins, right? Like I don’t have to be there today, you know, you know, to to know that Jordan Watkins did well because Lombardi saying it, Wagner is saying it, you know, Mayoko saying it, Grant Con saying it, like if they’re all saying it, then you can pretty much believe it. But it’s just when we get into, hey, uh, this guy looked good today. And somebody’s going to be like, oh, this guy looked like [ __ ] today. That’s when you’re just going to have to start to try to figure it out. But I think, you know, again, you you have a good mix and balance of guys and and women that you can trust, you know, when it comes to, you know, this team at least. Y uh Jason, that’s going to do it for this edition of the Sprint Red Option podcast. Uh we said it at the top when not a lot of people were in, but if you or you know somebody that knows how to make videos for introductions, correct? Reach out to me or Jason Aante. We are willing to pay uh help out. Uh we we we we would like the assistance. Uh so if you if you want to make a intro video for us, the literally the only rule we have on it, it has to be the same song. Keep the song. Uh but we will we will pay you. We will we will make sure you get all the credit in the world for it. We would love a new intro. Uh maybe not player specific this time. Jason, also if you’re new here, a great time to subscribe to Jason Apante’s YouTube channel. Uh because a lot of great content. This is the unofficial start to the 2025 season. Like this video, so content’s only going to be rolling out. Like this video, subscribe to this video. Uh Jason’s got videos with Steph Sanchez, stats, Brad Graham, uh Brian Peacock. There we go. Got his name right there. Uh you and Peacock tomorrow, Jason. I don’t know if we’re doing Friday or Monday, but there will be another spit right off the podcast here coming up shortly. Might be a little shorter on Friday because your boys got slow pitch softball on Friday. Or it could be a lunchtime. Oh, could be a lunchtime episode during practice. We’ll see. Jason Aante. But hey, it was a good episode today. We are back. 2025 is about to start. Episodes are going to be more frequent, more fast, more fun. A lot of things going on. But Jason Aante as always. Let’s go Niners. Football’s back. Life has meaning. Go Niners. We didn’t even talk about Tyler the Creator. That’s okay. We’ll do it next episode.
