Course Vlog | Dunkerque Golf Club

Well, hello everybody and welcome to the channel. You probably see from my eyes, it’s an early start this morning. It’s just before 700 a.m. We’ve arrived at Dunkerk Golf Club. It is our final day over here in France for this particular trip. And we’ve got a little bit of a format which is slightly different. We’re trying to keep the pace of play up because we need to get back for our ferry. So, we’re going to do a scramble. However, we’re going to be doing it as a bit more like a battle golf scramble. So, when you use your club, you lose your club. But when you make a birdie, you get a club back. And we’ve got a little bit of a twist to that as well, which we’ll share with you as we get out into the golf course. But let’s meet up with Lester. Let’s meet up with Graeme. Let’s get out onto the golf course. Morning, Graeme. Morning. Morning, Bernie. Morning, Dan. The world’s biggest open expansive space. But let’s see if we can miss it. Gra’s expecting some bad weather. Come on then. Let’s do it. I’d say just take dead aim at that flag in the distance there, Bernie. Oh my lord. Wow. Oh, look. He turned back. He’s looked back. Wow. Criy. Right. You got to put that that club now in in a in an area that it doesn’t um There you go. Yeah. Gone. Absolutely. I feel like I’ve done my bit. So, I’m going to grab the camera and I let somebody else have a little bash. You stepping up here? Basically, as I said in the intro, this has got to be quite strategic in the fact that like because obviously we don’t want to lose too many clubs. So, if somebody hits a good shot, we’re going to stick with that good shot so we then don’t lose the other clubs that we’re going to be hitting. So, how far did you say this is? 199. 199. This is what we’re faced. We’ll just take you up there. The I’m losing five with it. There you go. I don’t see four iron this time in the morning. That’s what we’re faced with water. There was a bunker left. Water way left, but I think there’s there’s no problem there. Little fivewood. Yeah. Do you think this is just too much? It’s 200 y, Dan. It’s not a great number for me at this time. Don’t want and you don’t want to get rid of you. I’d rather you got rid of your four iron than your fivewood. Let’s be honest. We need to save that for something, right? Okay. Well, I’ll I’ll hit four iron then and hope that that pin is at the back and I can get onto the front edge cuz ultimately if we miss the green, it’s another chip, isn’t it? Then you’re losing that club. Yeah, but Graeme can still hit from here if you don’t hit the green. Oh, that’s another club, is it? I don’t know. So bad. So, right down. So bad. Oh, kicked off the water. Don’t know. Water maybe. I’m uh just forcing a forearm there for me this time in the morning. That be right as well. Okay. See? Okay. Don’t know. It’ll be fine. No, I don’t want to hit. No, I don’t. Well, unless you want to hit. I don’t think I don’t really know what the idea what we’re doing, but No. Okay. Well, I think about it. So, if you hit, you’re going to lose your club. But if we go up there and chip, we’ve already sacrificed two clubs. We’ve already lost two clubs. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Don’t Don’t. So, I would say we save you. There’s been a major incident and the major incident includes that pond which we couldn’t see. So, Bernie is on the run back to that little spot where we uh where we hit from. I would say it’s a five iron Bernie. So, basically he needs to keep it up the left hand side. It all feeds in. There is a bunker up the left hand side, but you just cannot cannot go right. Missed that trap. Oh, I just caught in that trap there. Okay, that’s we’re in play. Was always my aim because I was like not going right and didn’t want to go long cuz we’ll be out the we’d be out the game, right? On the first game over on the first. Come on then, Gray. Little bit of magic. A little bit of Spanish magic, please. Big get up. Very good. Okay, that’s tidy. We’re taking that then. Yeah. Yeah. We got to try and hold that to get a club back. So, once you get it on the green, you cannot then lose clubs once you get on the green. But you’ve got to make sure you hit greens. What we seeing, Gray? Uh, I see it drifting from the left slightly. Travel. Travel. You had the right line, didn’t you? Criy had the right line there. Too far out. That one barely moved, did it? [Music] Just drifted to the right. Good roll. Well, there’s no birdie on a par five of us. Regional. Tapping in for par. Okay. that we’ve lost five clubs, which humanized, but not a good start. Considering we’re trying to get 18 blade today, I think we could be done done quickly. Back to the very early. So, dog leg. Dog leg. And Dan has got the club for this dog leg. So, he stepped up and took the uh captaincy roll. We think it goes fractionally right to left around the corner. 270 m 300 y. No future down the left. I just think it’s uh I just think it’s it’s just at that track really, isn’t it? Not a lot of draw there, J. No, it’ll be right. Yeah, it’s gone straight in that bunker. That That’s right. I don’t see it as a bad Well, no. It’s not not a long shot, is it? That’s not, you know, we’re gonna have no clubs left. We had such a great plan in the car. This is a great plan. We were going to be like, we were going to be getting clubs back every other I know. I now know why none of our truck I now know why none of our ideas have ever been successful. If you ever need an example, this is it. This is it. He’s taken over the role of vice captain. I’m not allowed any responsibility. And Graeme’s going to step up. Must be a bit of dead ground between this bunker and the green. Yeah. 84 85. It might work that it’s running. It might be long. Oh, the thumbs up. Any good? Yeah, he loves it. Didn’t see that shot though to be fair. I’d have played it a bit higher myself, but we’ll take it. Well, that was different. Gray. More ways to skin a cat. There are, isn’t there? Oh, that was uh little clean. How’s the golf ball looking? Uh, well, it’s still in one piece. These balls are amazingly resilient to be honest with you. Yeah. No cuts in that at all. Now, you think that uh I mean, if you’d have hit the BL struck that if you’d have hit the blat back in the day, you’d have had all that all that juice coming out of the ball, wouldn’t you? giving it a walop. That’s good. I needed to, I suppose. Yeah. Not bad. Then it’s at it’s at his ball. Yeah. It’s not outside his ball there. Very hard. Yeah. So, we’ve got the got the path. Go ball. Halfway there. Go, go, go. Look how it moves when you get it like short there. Make a very reason it good part. Yeah, great part. Going to finish off. Oh, good. All right. It’s all right. Green keeper waiting for us to finish. All around the world. As Graeme says, an all round good path. 130 par three. Interesting start actually. A getable. A getable par five and a a getable par four. Really short par three. Very tight. What do you think? What did you say it was? 130. 130. The wedge. Yeah. [Music] Oh, that is a golf shot. That is a golf shot there. Spin. Spin. That’s good. Stayed on. We are putting wedge. That is good enough for me. only lost lost one club there. Exactly. Good shot, Bernie. You You’ve now You’re the You’re the one with that’s only lost two clubs. Oh, hello. Yeah. Well, I’ve I’ve lost a big one, though. You could be out here the longest. It’s a swinger. Yeah. There’s a um Don’t know if the camera’s picking it up, but almost like a a hump here, isn’t there? There’s a big ridge. Big ridge at the back, and we’re just at the bottom of it. Oh, chances. Chances are. What a good try. [Applause] Turn the moment for you to step up, which you do on the big occasions, don’t you? Try to try. You do certainly with the putter. You do, I think. Yeah. Load. It big swinger. Big swinger, Bernie. Right, that’s another club gone. Only for you. That’s only one. He’s only one club. So that’s Yeah, there is a positive there. One club, is it? So Graeme’s lost three. I’ve lost three. You’ve lost two. And we’re level par. Correct. Uh yardage wise, Bernie, we’ve selected you. 500. Even though to be fair, you’re not eating driver, are you? Can’t I? Haven’t got driver. What do you think Graeme should it? Cuz we need a we need a birdie. You hit that. Bernie’s going to go with fivewood cuz we got 500 yard par five and I I feel if you can get a little bit of slingage started way right the post and draw it. Yeah. Draw it try and draw it back onto the post if you can left it. That’s a little left. It’s bouncing and the hole goes that way. Don’t know. So, we will see. We found Bernie’s T-shot, which was actually it wasn’t too bad. Like, it looked a lot worse from the T-shot, but it’s actually a bit of space out here. We have got a bit of a blind shot. Now, the green is literally over the top of this here, but you’ve got to carry a load of water. It’s 230 to get to the green. So, the layup really is 180 yards max, as in finish at 180 yards. So, something like 150 yard, 160 yard carry gray is probably where you want to be. Yeah, that is absolutely spot on, Graeme. We’re not going to see it down, but that is absolutely perfect. Happy days. You think I just go flat out lobby? I mean, it is downhill, isn’t it? That’s what I mean. It’s 99 y the flag. Got to be playing 3 y downhill. So, that’s closer to 95. I hit my lob wedge 90. Um, so therefore, it to me it looks like if you get it on the green, it’s going to kick down anyway. Yeah, I I I would I would go with that ease of 56 over water, you know. Yeah. Yeah. You are downhill as well, Dan. Yeah. And you got that wedge on the that path three that got there as well, didn’t it? It did. It got there nicely, didn’t it? Yeah. This is a shot. That’s not getting there. Spoon that. Right. Oh, it’s bounced. It’s all right. It’s on the green where there’s no water. Didn’t fancy taking the water on then. No. So, are we We’re happy to just lose one. Yeah. Nobody wants to get a bit closer than that. Well, it’s it’s whether you take the gamble, isn’t it? Cuz we do with a birdie. Really? But if we both hit and then we awful shots, we lost two more clubs. But then we we could do a birdie. We’re gaining three. Should I hit? It’s a bit in between clubs for me as well. 99. I don’t get it. It’s a 54 for me, but it’s fiddly. Let’s not go fiddly. So, this green, if we look at it from above, it’s shaped like the spades in a car in a card set. So, I don’t know if that’s got any relation to maybe, you know, in the Second World War, they had a spade or something like that as like a marking. So maybe that’s got something to do with what what this is about. We’ll find that out maybe a little bit later. But um we’ll we’ll ask the club. Yeah. Or ask. Yeah. But I think um I think there’s got to be something cuz it’s so unusual shaping of this. Right. Okay. Back to the golf. We need this. It’s drifting left a little bit short. Look at that. It’s probably done better than mine. Right on my line. It was right on line. Follow Graeme’s trail with a little bit of pace on it. Nope. That’s a more like it though. Hell of a clout. Bernie are Yeah, absolutely. There’s a lot of dangerous holes around here, isn’t there? Huh? You can rack up hell of a score around here, I reckon. It’s another par and we haven’t got any clubs back yet. No. So I thinking clubs. We’re hemor we’re hemorrhaging clubs, haven’t we? We will be with uh with very limited resources. Yeah. Bernie, how many have you lost now? Lost four, hasn’t it? So you’ve lost what? You’ve lost I’ve lost fivewood, driver, six iron. So I’ve done three. You’ve done three. I’ve done four. Rescue Graeme. Graeme. Graham. You’ve done what? iron, rescue, sixiron, wedge, and sand wedge. Yeah, I’ve done three. And then I’ve done driver. I’ve now done four iron. Yeah, I’ve done pitching wedge. And I’ve now lost my lob wedge. It’s good job. I’ve got loads of wedges in my bag to be fair. Okay, we have got hole 19. 358 y is this hole, Graeme. There is water down the left hand side. I don’t think I I really don’t think it’s driver. No. Okay. Um I think it’s I don’t know. What have you got out there? Have you got you got a fairway wood or something? Or fivewood? Threewood? You don’t carry a 3-wood? Yeah, I’ve got a 3wood. But you fancy the fivewood more? Well, I think so. Okay, commit to it. I think it’s at the literally Can you see that the edge of the water on the right there? On the left there. It’s down that line there. So, I’ve got him kind of That’s the line. Absolutely perfecto. Perfect. Nice to what? Down the line. Yeah, I’m I’m thinking that’s absolutely spot on there, Gray. Well done. Let’s say goodbye to that fivewood. 144. Bernie, this is down to you. Is it? Yeah. Because you’ve got three clubs gone. Graham’s lost five. I’ve lost four. 150. Yeah. Yeah. 144 is probably maybe it’s only maybe it’s only 3 y uphill. 144 play 147 n it. Yeah, I think that’ll be fine. 150 club is about about right cut. Yeah, that’s good. Center of the green. We got a pop for a par a birdie. Sorry. Uh, very good, Bernie. There’s definitely more with this course, isn’t there? Because as you kind of look back, there’s lots of like, well, things that you don’t really see on golf courses, which is like funny little like angles, flat spots, two little angles. Like there’s like an arrow here, arrow there. It’s like I don’t know. I just feel like I’m seeing shapes on this course. I’d be interested to look at the history. Yeah, because I I just feel like there’s Yeah, there was a lot of activity here in the war and maybe like there’s I reckon there’s a nod here to some of the some of the outfits that were obviously fighting in the war, you know. That not strange, isn’t it? Stay there, didn’t it? There’s a huge drop off just here, which is probably what’s fooling us a little bit. Yeah. [Music] Wow. It goes left at the end, doesn’t it? It’s weird. That’s on a good line. That’s on a good line. Shorten it. Oh, no. No. No way. Um, how was that missed? Well, that that’s gone that way. The end. [Music] The end. Two more clubs lost. Two more team clubs lost. Um, still level par. We played some solid goals. Just level par doesn’t get us all the way around. No, sadly. Risk or reward, isn’t it? I mean, 245 y to get obviously onto that green from here. So, par four, don’t think we’ve really got much of a choice but to get my three out and give it a whack. that if I get it just short as a big bunker like a square funny shaped bunker again. Okay. So the other option is to flick a sixiron down there. We lose well got to go for it. We go for it. We go for it. This is what we’re faced with. I think that’s the left edge of the green there. Um I think the pin must be on the right hand side. [Music] So amazing. That’s what I wanted. It’s fading right. Don’t know. Any shape but that was the shape. Yeah. Any shot but that what do you think? How many I think iron iron. That is that could be in the what? It’s in trouble. Good left shot. There’s one shot you couldn’t hit down this hole and that was right with a 3-wood and I’ve hit it right. I’ve gone in the water. So Graeme played the provisional shot which was a provisional but it was a second shot. So he’s lost his club now. I’ve lost my 3-wood and I’m about to lose my 56. So we playing What are we playing then? This is our third shot. Third shot. So this is just two off the tea. Yeah. Two T. Oh. So So we can still make birdie. So we still make birdie. Oh yeah. Yeah. That’s all right. That’s the key. Oh, I’m loving it. Yeah. Make the rules work for yourself. What did you say, Greg? 103. 103. So, it’s just a perfect 56 in my mind. That looks pretty good. Get up. That was pretty good. Pretty good for me then. That wasn’t bad, was it? No. Well done. I think you might redeem yourself. I might redeem myself and get my little 3-wood back. Who knows? Well, that is a little bit disappointing. And I mean that must have been playing quite a bit uphill for that to be Yeah. so short. It didn’t move down at all. It looked as if you hit it quite nicely. Yeah, I hit it. I struck it lovely. Probably off that slight upslip. Maybe adding a bit of loft. There’s a little bit of loft floating around this group today at the moment, isn’t there? How’s that finger of yours, Bernie? Not so good. We’ve had an incident because he’s caught Oh, it’s a blood blister one. Well, it is bleeding there, isn’t it? But he’s caught it in the uh It doesn’t look much, but there’s quite a lot of blood flowing. I mean, it was Yeah. I don’t think we’re at blood transfusion levels yet, but it was close, wasn’t it? I think we’re in the must make stage now. I think we’ve been in it since the first. We’re running out of desperately running out of clubs. Yeah. Where is he at the moment? I’m going to be playing the last couple holes of me own. Yeah, we’re going to [Music] smashed it. Tell you what, the juice’s just drying up, I think, was cuz that went off like a rocket. [Music] Gone into it just good part if it’s got the legs. I tell you what, it’s good part if it had the legs. Right in middle of the bat as well, was it? Okay. Well, we’re still level par and in a medal. I’d be very happy with that. Yeah, bro. It’s not a medal though there. No, I know. We’re running out of clubs in. Well done you. Okay. Well, we do we dodged a bullet actually in the end. We did dodge a bullet cuz we could have been could have been swimming. We did lose three clubs. Yeah. Well, didn’t we? We lost two clubs there. Uh three clubs we lost there. Yeah. Okay. Disappointing. Green keepers grafting away. Double cut in the green. Haven’t seen that one for a a little while. However, we move on to the seventh where Bernie’s stretching it right out because he knows that he has to step up at this moment in time. He’s got 139 yards. Slightly uphill into the wind. I’d probably nine iron if I was one, but I haven’t got one. So, we’re going to go wedge. Okay. Yeah. Just turned over on him a little bit. That’s just our length that I would say that’s we can’t get the ball within like 6 foot, can we? No, we can’t. 35 foot here. No, if the game was hit the greens to 35 ft, we’d be really good at it. All right. What’s he left us with then, Gray? Uh, another 30footer. We’re going to We’re going to rock one in in a minute. There’s got to be marginally off the left, but I’ll be the guinea pig. You can be the guinea pig on this run. that move at all? That has gone. It was trying to look like it was trying to come back from left to right and then it went started going from right to left. Go. Nowhere near it. That was going left as well. That was a strange pat that we going to hit this to the right then or I don’t really have a choice, do I? helpful. Based on what I’ve just seen, I’ve got to go right. It’s really slow as well, isn’t it? Yeah. D is going to tap in. Look at those those little tracks there. We had all my Okay, we’re still level path for seven. It’s all getting a little bit desperate on the 8 at the moment. Bernie’s having a little bit of breakfast and Graeme is the only one left with a driver in his bag. So, we’ve opted to select his seventh club to leave the bag. Um, it’s a 400 yard par4, but we feel like we want to just try and get it as close as we possibly can with Got to be a little bit of a Darth Darth Vader down there, I think. Yeah, I think so. I like the little little Darth Vader. Oh, I love it. I love it. He’s He’s hit that driver so well all week. And it’s through the bunker. It landed the track. Did it? I didn’t even know the off the path. Yeah, it’s all right. All right, we’re off, Bernie. This is This is our moment. This is our birdie moment. Took that drive to bed every night. Yeah. Yeah. 60 yards. Going to pull my seven iron out. I think that should be about the right club. Pull back left and back left. Plan of action that I had initially. It’s gone out the window. So, I was expecting to be three or four birdies in at the moment. They’re coming in a minute though. I think we left our um I left my golf swing at the Euro camp. I don’t know if we saw that. Can we go and get it before we go home? You got a prom on Friday. I got a pro. One ball located. Not on the green though. You saw the double cross that just gone for a little fade. Shut the face down. Straight left. I’m left with a 7R, 9R iron, 52. Would you want me to chip it on with something? No. [Laughter] Cheers. No. No. You just stand out for a minute. All right. You just I’m going to step up a bit. All right. Just let Graham do his thing. hopefully and then we’ll give him a rest maybe for a couple of holes. Keep traveling. That’s good. That’s a great shot. Keep going. Yeah, a good shot going on the on the on the water, aren’t they? Not just a pretty face. No, I’ve done a bit of YouTubing. Have you? Yeah. I don’t know if you know, I’ve got me own channel. It’s Lester Bernie Barnes. Remember to hit that subscribe button. Right, Graeme, to mop up. Hopefully. It’s pretty straight, Gray. Looks very straight to me. Yeah. Yep. Well done, Gray. Nowhere. You played a lot of golf on that, old gray. And uh we’re very proud of you for for stepping up to the plate. Managed to You hit three lovely shots there. In fact, Bernie, did you even You weren’t even required there, were you? I’m going to give Graeme a birdie there because he hit three lovely shots. He did hit three lovely shots. Dan hit one in between. Oh, still level par. Feel like you need to put your little bit of uh your big boy shorts on at this moment in time. Far left. Have I really? I’ve got two iron, four iron. How far left is it hooking? Hang on. Let’s have a little look at what hole 19 is telling us here. So, the ninth hole. I don’t hook my two iron. This is a par five. Yeah. Stroke next one, Bernie. So, you need to hit it 190 yards down there. Yeah. 190 y over that pole is the ideal scenario, I think. over. How they How they getting on? Great. These are melted harry bows. These are some Oh, I’ll take I’ve never had a har 20 in the morning before, but let’s try. Let’s try. What come you got? You got four iron? Yeah, four or five iron. Four iron then. Maybe the harry is what’s going to give us that that well well needed birdie. Absolutely perfect. That’s got to be perfect. Do not want that back, Bernie. I need to hit straight around the corner. Very impressive. Thinking about it, Bernie. So, I’ve got a 50° wedge left. Okay. So, ideally, if you could put that into about 110, that would be perfect. Yeah. I think eight time Bernie leaves you cuz that’s going to land like 155 to 16, probably 160. And then run, it we don’t really want any run really. So, just nudge it down there. I mean, this this hole is as tight as it gets, really, isn’t it? Yeah. I mean, there’s no whacking driver over the top, is there? There’s nowhere to hit driver, is there? No. I mean, if you got it down, you hit a good driver on the line here. Good driver. Are you out of bounds? Tweet. Very tweet. Right, Burns. Come on. Little bit heavy there. Yeah, that probably work out all right, would it? [Music] I think that’ll be absolutely fine. You left a good angle into that flag as well. Oh, yeah. That’s all right. Little bit close than we wanted to be. Really? Got that extra bit of run, isn’t it? Yeah. Landed on a bit of a downsight there. So, we got 98 y that flag. Got 50° wedge, which is my last wedge on the flag. Nice shot. That’s more of a chance. That is definitely more of a chance, isn’t it? Maybe you’ve been doing it wrong all these years. Rely on your old 50, you know. Maybe you’ve been doing it wrong all these years. Take it easy on Take it easy. Nice little easy 50. Smooth it in. That’s all my wedges officially left. Left the building. Right. Nice shot in there. Did I take just a little bit too much off, Bernie? Yeah. A good shot. I mean, got a big part in there. Really? It’s the closest one we’ve had so far. Ro Rome wasn’t built in a day. You’re right. You’re right again. The Eiffel Tower wasn’t built in a day. Move early. Move. Yeah, early. Couple of couple of cups outside left. Gray is good. [Applause] Get up. Get up. Get up. Get up. Get up. Get up. Ah, Bernie. Bernie, Bernie stepping up again. Couple of cups outside left. That was all it was. Don’t be short. No, don’t be short. No, don’t be short, please. Stay on that line. Stay on that line. Stay on that line. It’s a good part as well, though. That was uh That was a bit light. That was a really good part. Just a smidge, wasn’t it? Okay, gentlemen. That turns us at a magical level par. And there’s not a lot of spanners left in the workshop, is there? Not at all. No, not at all. Okay, we move on back nine. Some good news and some bad news. What’s going on? You’ve got the good news. Well, the bad news is you’ve got all your wedges left. Yep. You You’ve used seven clubs about to use your eighth. I’ve used eight and Graeme has used eight as well. I’ve got a five with left, two iron, which is at the top of the bag. Yeah, Graeme’s got a three with left. So, we’ve got three little weapons. We got some three whackers off TE’s. So, that’s three holes covered. Bernie’s got seven iron. We got 173 yards this par three. It’s not a bad number. It’s a perfect perfect yardage for Bernie. Seven iron. Got to hit the green though. No, really. Yeah. It’s required. [Music] Oh, tugged it. Get down. Get down. It’s all right in there. I think it’ll be fine, but it’s uh it’s a chip in a putt. We need Now we’re starting to We’re now starting to spice it up, Dan. Yeah. Um the thing with it, what I like about this game is that when you start really losing clubs, you’ve got to start getting a bit of imagination going, Gray. Yes. You know, absolutely. Bernie’s now got a chip with the club he’s doesn’t like chipping with, which is his 50° wedge, which um I mean, I suppose I could use a n iron or something, but you want to get rid of a wedge. Yeah, we I think we need to we need to need to man up and uh somehow somehow, man, no, I don’t know if I’ve been a bit ambitious by putting a camera behind the hole. No, I like it. I feel like you’re going to just pop this straight in the middle of that middle of that hole, Bernie. Yeah, I like that. It’s got a chance, Bernie. Get left. Get left. Get left. Get long. Stop. Stop. Stop. It was well played. Yeah, that’s a good good shot that. Well done. Not a lot in this. [Applause] Well done, girly. My goodness me. That’s a lovely par. Well done, Bernie. Wonderful. That was delightful. 10 pars in a row. Who’d have thought it? You wouldn’t, would you? Hey, no st. One thing we got to do, though, is stop losing clubs on par threes. You know, look, done two. A really good hole. Well, that 17th, doesn’t it? We’re not going to get there. I’m not sure we’re going to see that, Gray, but maybe take it in now, Gray. Do it now. Do it now. Right, Dan. Five iron in hand. Five iron in hand. Uh, this hole is only 315 here. You can’t see it. 315. Bit of ground help. Bit of ground help. Um, just straight over this mound in front of us really, I think. Yeah. Yeah. Lovely. Absolutely perfect. Might not see that down. Depends on the bounce. That great. Good shot. Perfect. Perfect. Okay. Well done. I’m um I’m actually a bit concerned that there’s nobody else out here other than the odd individual. Well, because it’s still half eight. No one’s here yet. They’re all still having coffees. Gra, they’re on the first few holes and we’re on 11. Group of Brits already arrived. In fact, the way we’re going, we’re going to get the early ferry over. This is what we’re faced with. Graham just getting his yardage slightly between clubs. So I think it’s going to have to be have to be the bit of a biff with the shorter iron. So just to give you a bit of an insight, Gray. So the 27 holes of golf here at Dunkerk um golf course weave through the dramatic contours of the geometric mounds of these ancient fortifications. So this would have been a four area. Yeah. Um that’s why we’re seeing so many like all these rect rectangular mounds and stuff like that. Incredible. Stay there. Stay there. Sick. It’s on the green. Yeah, it’s on the green. It just distance again. But we will see that one. But at least with putting We’re playing for Monday pin positions. We are. We’re playing for pin positions that don’t exist. That’s what happened. So, we’ve made our way up onto the green and we have got one of our little signature 35 50footers. I’ve got a good feeling about this one though. Have you? Yeah. I can just see this. We should be good at 35. Well, we should be. And the green to be fair is has been cut and there’s no dew. And uh there’s uh no a little bit of right to left up there. Ah, left. Hang on. Should have gone to spec savers. I’ve worked out from all the putting that we’ve done today that just do the opposite of what you think, Bernie. It’s just outside left. Yeah. No, seriously. You get here and it looks totally different. Well, it looks totally different after you hit your butt. Yeah. If ever there was a moment in your life, the last hole, but there’s many moments. It doesn’t mean that you can you don’t run out of moments. This is just another one in your life. Come on. Please get there. Not there. That has gone. That certainly it’s started to drift, isn’t it? Confirms that there’s not uh there’s no there was no swing in there. There’s absolutely no swing in that. I don’t think it moves at all. I’ve just followed you really, haven’t I? Well, Gray, I don’t know what happened to your part, but No, I think I’m directionally challenged there. They they definitely didn’t move as much as what yours did there. If um you get the score wrong today, you got some serious issues. Yeah. Blame the editor, which is me. Yep. It’s in your bag then, Gray. you’ve got left. I’ve got three. Threewood, seven iron, five iron, five iron, and a 52. Those are quite useful clubs though, aren’t they? I might go, Should I hit an eight iron? Yeah. I mean, I’ve only got two two five and two wedges, so I’ve got nothing. I can’t help here. What we got coming up? Anyway, next is a about a 400 yard, so I could hit three wood there. But yeah, like that. I’ve still got the two iron left as well. Yeah. Let me see if I can squeeze an eight iron there. Even if it lands short, it should bounce holes, I reckon. Yeah, I reckon we got a couple of holes left. Oh, stay there. Stay there. Oh. Oh, sp short. Little teapot going on. A nice shot though. I didn’t think I was going to be short if I’m honest. Good swing. Good swing. Burns, get those speedos on. You bring your 58 over. All the fuss is about. No, exactly. What is everyone worried about? Just going to clean the bottom groove out. Did you have your ball? Did I give you your ball back? The only the bottom groove I’m bothering you little bladed wedge. I don’t know what you got your putter out for. Got you got to chip it if I missed the queen. Let’s not lose three clubs on the par three. Should we? Right. Do me a favor. Don’t try and help it on. Let the You’ve paid enough money for that club. Let’s let the club do the work. All right. Let me play this. All right. The less I think about it. What are you worried about? That was delightful. There you go. Have me eyes shut. Is any good? Go and sit in the buggy. You’ve done your work. Go and sit down in there. All right. Enjoy yourself, boys. Graeme’s going to knock it in because then we’ve all played a shot on this par three. Never in any doubt, Gray. Never in any doubt at all. It’s definitely improved, Dan, from when we played in Turkey a few years ago. It has improved and you should build like you should build confidence from it, Greg, cuz uh number three. I know it was niggling you a little bit, the old shorties, weren’t they? But I feel I feel like you’ve come through. Feel like Bernie’s chipping. Come through the other side. You feel like you two have come through together. I’m still in the middle of it. Stuck. He’s stuck in the wall. If I’m brutally honest, gentlemen, I’m just happy that we’ve got to the 13th T. Yes. Um, sadly wrong, though. We’ve got threewood in hand for Graeme. This is a 400y par4 up the hill off this tea box. So, it requires a good dig. A little bit of a pop out there. Yeah. Turn over hard. Hit the hit the car path and get up there. Oh, yeah. That’s perfect. Oh, it is. It’s on the path, Graeme. No, it’s not on the fairway. Yeah. Oh, that is absolutely perfect. Class is permanent. 148, which is an awkward number because no one’s got a club. Um, we’re now raking through golf bags looking for a right the club that’s going to work for that number. And I’ve got I’ve got a six iron. I’ve got a five iron. Um, I’ve got a nine iron. My nine iron won’t get there. I have to go with seven, I think. Bernie, what what have you got? Two iron, five iron. 54. I’m out. So, you’ve selected seven eye then Gray, which is which is not a bad number for you. Well, I think it’s okay, actually. Not saying a lot cuz we’re not sure what it’s doing. It’s dancing. It’s bouncing up there. I mean, I think that’s on the green. 35. I think that’s on the green. But you must be running out of clubs by now. You What you got left? I’m getting low now. I’m getting a five iron. Five iron and a 52. Okay, just keep that seven iron. Yeah. Yeah, it’s the fourth time he’s in it. There is a lot of chitchat wandering up, but that’s Graeme’s ball, which is a really nice shot in there. But again, our number of about 35 to 50 ft. Bernie is saying that if we could just roll one in. Yeah. You think we got a chance, don’t you? Yeah, because we’ve got a par five coming up next, which is a birdie opportunity. So, if we rolled this in, we’ve got the potential of driver on the next hole. The critical thing is if we could is the three clubs we get back is is how we then select well first of all select them I think is the key. That’s what I mean. Select select them based on the holes that we know we’ve got left. Not the first thing we got to do. Hold the putt. Hold this. We got to hold our first ever birdie putt on this round of golf. Travel ball. Travel ball. Great line though. Just a little bit further left Bernie on that. Come on then. Come on then. Swing. Swing. Swing. Started way too far. Little bit too far, wasn’t it? In the end. Go right. Go right. Mid section there. Lucky brass. Just need one. We can get that one. Bernie. I think I think you can then which we’ve got a chance here cuz we got the par five coming up but we don’t have a lot of ammo. strategically placed club in one’s hand is the two iron. I’ve got that 7y T because it’s 237 y to carry that pond if we do push it. So it’s 205 to carry the corner of that path there. It’s 237 to get it over there. But where I want birdie is right there. Where do you want me to go? Just left of that path. Just a left of it. When I say when I say left, I mean like a meter left of it. Cut a bit more. Cut a bit more. Get some ground help. Get some ground help. There we go. Come on. Come right. You’re going to be You’re going to have a hook it. I’m going to have to hook it off a down slope with a fivewood. You got that was going to be easy. Absolutely. But you’ve done your job, Bernie. Well done. Two clubs left on my fivewood and my six iron. Oh, six club. Um Oh, no. I’ve got a nine iron still. Actually, I got three clubs left. So, it’s a six iron. It’s 174 yards. Bit blocked out. Do with a bit of draw. Need draw. Yeah. What you thinking, Gray? Speak up now forever. Hold your piece. If you look at the stansions at the back, if you can start it on the second one down. Okay. Yeah. With a bit of shape. Yeah. He’s thinking it’s 1997 all over again. [Music] Holy my words. That’s that is that is on the dance order. Dr. McKenzie would love that. If we the great we cannot put this then we we go home. We’re going to get some clubs back. I got to put that in the in the little area that’s gone now. Six iron gone. But well done. Well done six iron. So, we’re just having a little discussion. A big bird gets us two clubs back. So, we should have an extra club on the next tea, but two would be an absolute Brucey bonus, wouldn’t it? A little gem, isn’t it? Comment below as well. Are you enjoying this format? Have you got any modifications to this format you think that would make it better? And do you want to see this format again? Put it right in the toe. Right. We got to be a bit careful here. One thing I don’t want to do want to capture on camera a three putt. Yeah. Right. A very good stroke. Cy go. It’s just slow. The second part of that putt is slow. Bernie all uphill. Got your ball there. I’m not going looking for it. No. Quite effort. About 5 foot outside right. What? Mine was outside right. You’ve just tugged it. Starting left off the face. Anyway, it was still the best part of the frame. Yeah. Yeah. Still was still using yours. Oh my good. This is never in any doubt, Bernie. This is a birdie with your name written all over it. [Applause] Righty. Right. Gray just outside. Right. [Music] How’s that not move? I’ve just watched Bernie’s move heavily. [Applause] Well done. The last chance. Well done, Daniel. Very good. Everybody okay, Bernie? You right. Still here? Yeah, still here. Right, everybody. So the facts are that we are one under par after that par five. We’ve got 15, 16, 17, and 18. So there is a very good chance that we can get in here. We’ve got a par three, a par five, and then two par fours to finish. The par the par five is reachable. Again, very similar to what we just had on that previous par five. So it’s a little bit shorter. Got to be tight there. Um yeah, let’s start by just getting a number of what we’ve got into this path three. Island Green can’t go left. Look 175 to flag. Yeah. Um, so I’ve flag for me is uh a six iron which I don’t have in the bag at this moment in time. No, I’ve got five iron left. It’s going for my bag. 54. That’s it. It is though into wind. So how far does your five iron travel, Bernie? Around about 190. 190. So it’ be a six iron for you then, wouldn’t it? Yeah. It’s right on the number for me into this breeze with a sixiron then. We haven’t got a six iron, have we? We haven’t got a six iron. No. If I hit five iron at it. Yeah, why not? Let’s see what you do. Let’s see what you do with your five first. So Bernie had a five iron left in his bag of which he has selected to use for this particular shot. It is into wind. What was it? 170. 17. Yeah, you’ve got playing 185, isn’t it? Yeah. playing like middle of the green, right? Middle of the green is 185 y. Yeah. Into the breeze. Into the breeze. Get a nice smooth one. Yeah. Yeah. Happy. Yeah, I think so. Cut. Cut heavily. Cut heavily. Cut heavily. Cut heavily. Oh, you little sneaky sneakster. Could have been a bit harder. Look at my Look at my D. It’s impressive that you’ve got that club to or that ball to go where you’re uh considering where that div um extreme. If Ronny caught it and fell in there, he wouldn’t get out. Look where it’s going. Okay. Right. We got to chip and chip in for a birdie. That is two par threes that have just dug in on the front edge there. It could it could have they should have released up. The way the golf course is playing, it’s been playing fast, firm, and fast. I think it would get a little bit of a chase up there. If it gets a little bit forward, it’s close. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We We still haven’t selected which clubs we want back yet. We want to just almost get this one over and done with. Um but with that par five, we’ve got to if we can if we we’ve got to be selective for the next hole, which is the par five. If we can get a birdie there, then we’ve then we can cruise in, can’t we? Cruise in. Right. Just come in from the left side, I think. Just just wet here, Bernie, where you’ve hit that T-OT. Just pitch mark is there. It’s just it’s done a bit a little bit of Douglas. Go, go, go. Go, go, go, go, go, go, go. Right line. It’s a great shot. It’s a lovely shot. And right. And it keeps us under par. Nice par. Okay, it’s a par. We’re still one under par. We think What we’re thinking, Gray, is if we can birdie the next, we’re just going to cruise in. Yeah. Yeah. If we If we could Yeah. Yeah, might be handy in it. I’m doing some hole 19 mapping here cuz we’re trying to figure out. But that is the that is as tight as it gets down there on that particular T-OT there. It hole 19 is telling me to hit 3-wood because it’s super tight. The the narrowest part or the widest part is at 200 y. You you don’t want to be going past 200 y unless you can hit a little slider down there which I think I think okay Dan there is a man for this who’s got that little sliding driver dear oh dear okay all right I mean you’ve stepped up throughout the years gray you have stepped up to the plate when it’s when it’s needed you’re not county captain and county champion for no reason you don’t become three time county champion for not being able to find a fairway do Yeah, let’s be honest. You certainly do not. Oh, I am. Right. Okay, boys. Oh, that is so good. That is literally so good. Go on. Chase down there. Graham Ruth, take a bow. Take a bow. Let’s just hope Let’s just hope it’s in the right place. That was delightful. Most nervous you’ve been all day. Was that right? There is a major incident that’s happened here. So, we think we’ve got a bounce off the corner of here and it’s kicked it into the water hazard because we can’t see it anywhere. So, we now have to go back to that tea box. You’re going to be up and have another go. I’ll be up here watching. So, Graeme’s going to stay up here and watch us drive back and see what see what we feel when we get down there. Bernie, Bernie of High have had a little committee meeting in the buggy and we’ve decided that based on the current situation and the fact that he hit such a delightful shot into the par three previous hole and he stood up when it really was required. All right, calm down. I should give this one a go with the driver. So, I’m going to take the driver. I’m going to start it up the trouble on the right and I’m going to play for my little draw with my oximity. You got to face your fears sometimes. I got to aim right and draw back down the world’s tightest hole. All right, here we go. Well, that is good. Go hard. It’s over there. Go hard. Graham loves it. That’s good enough for me. That’s good enough for everybody. Graeme loves it. We love it. Let’s roll. Great drive. Yeah. Tight up here. So, we’ve lost I have lost my driver now. Graham’s lost his driver. Say it’s 210 into the wind. Dan wood. When I was driving up here, I was thinking, “Oh, thank God for that. I can take a relaxing watch these boys hit into this butterfl spotting stuff that you do.” He’s got a feeling about something, he said. Do you reckon um Gray after he won his third county championship ever thought he’d be messing around in France with these couple of idiots? Us? Absolutely not. He’s had a he’s had a cracking he’s had a cracking couple of day. I think he’s really enjoyed it. Okay, keep your eye on this, Gray. You bit your best shot ever, though. Don’t you got another one? You got another one in there? You got two in a row. Oh, I love it. Little B. Go. That’s got to be good. What? I didn’t see what he did. Yeah, he’s laughing. He’s laughing. It’s great shot. We’re on it. We’ve been on this old for about three and a half hours, right? I’m I’m out. We just got to get this into the into the circle of trust. Go on. Keep going. Keep going. Oh, it’s beautiful. Beautiful. Hello. Hello. Very, very good. God, you only got your putter out. That’s confident. Don’t need it. about. He’s super confident now. Great. I did absolutely nothing on that one. Two left. We got we Oh, we do it. We’ll do it easy. 17 18 and I’ve got I’ve got I’ve got one club that I’m allowed to select back. You’re allowed to select two. I’ve still got three clubs left. Select one. We’ve done it easy. Easy. Let’s see how we get on. We wander up to the 17th T where Graeme has been assessing the situation. This is a little dogleggy one. I’m popping it up on hole 19. Sliding it in so everyone can see it. And it moves around from uh left to right a little bit. Gray. Yes. Yeah, I think so. So, it’s 354. So, it’s not overly long, but we are into a slight breeze. Um it’s there’s a marker pole down there which we could just hit it at that and we kind of come down on that if we can. But we ideally need a fade because of these overhanging trees. Anybody drawing it is going to struggle. So, I’m happy I’m happy to um try and bring your driver back myself. Yeah. Redeem myself. Okay. You know that shape that you hit? That little slidy shape that you hit? Yeah. I think it’s one of those again. Yeah. Yeah, that’s the one. That’s going to really work along the ground. I think that’s spot on, Gray. Well, might be. No, it’ll chase down there. I think you’ll be absolutely fine with that. Well done. Anyway, Graeme’s at a very good T-shot just down the left hand side there. So, Graeme’s got a five iron left in the bag. He’s hit the driver that he was that he’s picked up from the last hole. Now, Bernie has got to select two clubs that can go back in his bag. He’s already got a 54 sat in there. That’s not getting there. So, there. So, just a nice wedge 50 or a wedge. No, I don’t think 50 gets there. Do you? No, I don’t think it does. Into the wind. There’s a slight breeze. pins on the front. So, anything just past the pin is not a bad spot. Yeah, I think I think wedge is just a perfect club for you. The club go hard. Go. Criy, the drama continues. We are nursing this home, aren’t we? We are. Yeah, we as long as I make it onto the green. Yeah, I said it was long. I was saying Gray when we were driving up, me and Bernie and I just up to the green there. When did we become the most negative golfers around? What What is it? What actually happened? I don’t know. I really knew that. Bernie was worried about firing that pitching wedge over the back of the green. So, he laid laid it up short. Laid up short. [Music] There’s nothing wrong with that. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Other bases that you were concerned about getting the green. So I say that’s a positive. Yeah. And it’s an uphill putt. And it’s an uphill putt. And you haven’t even brought your putt. So you didn’t have to worry about that either. Yeah. Well done. I feel like I was part of that hole then. Thank you guys. Thanks for letting me do that. Very good. Very good. All All again. One all to go. One to go. We’re just going to cruise it home. the 18th hole. We’ve basically got three clubs left. Graeme’s got a five iron. I’ve got a choice of a club and Bernie’s got a choice of a club. So, we’ve limped in, but we’ve we’ve we’ve at least we’re here. We’ve made it to 18. We wanted to show you the whole golf course and we’ve done that. And I’ve got to say I’m very impressed. It’s very different. Very different golf course. And there’s lots of water, but it is very unique, isn’t it? Tremendous. Love love some of the holes. And um I didn’t think we’d get this far. No. And I And I really do think that if one of you can get a drive down here, the other one’s got to the option to select. So, and we’ve got a five iron in my bag as well. If we need if we need to chip it as well. Yeah. So, based looking on pole 19. I see water up there, but I don’t see it. I don’t see it on the app. It’s 379. probably playing closer to four 420 four with the wind. Yeah. So you could you could hit your 3-wood. Would that take that ditch out of play? I would take the ditch out of play, wouldn’t it? So we go with I’m off Bernie got two iron. So Bernie could hit his two iron. Yeah, I think you hit your threewood. Happy with my threewood, Bernie? Do you prefer to go into the green with a iron? Yeah, I’d prefer my I’d prefer to hit a approach shot or in rather than hit off a T. Yeah, perfect. Look at that. Oh, you’ve done your part. Really? Right down to you. Yeah, they did used to call me Daniel Dart. You’re right, Gray. Back in the day. Haven’t heard that for a while. So, it’s quite nice to hear it. Daniel D. Definitely wouldn’t now, would they? Got nine iron down. Collected the nine iron he can chip with. So as long as we don’t shank it. As long as we don’t shank it into the water. As long as we hit it in the general direction of the green, we should be complete in this. Are you happy with the T-shot? Yeah, absolutely perfect. I mean you couldn’t I mean it’s tight and you literally hit it into the shortest slot. We were trying to play back a bit, but yeah, you I got a little bit of ground help there to be fair. Go to get there. Well done. El Perfecto. Well done all of us. That is a great team performance that today, gentlemen. You’ve done it. I’m I’m I’m proud of all of you. Hey, we’ve done it. There was a lot of people in the comments that were giving me that love. Yeah, there was a lot of people in the comments giving me the uh Superb. Well done, boys. Some negative comments there saying that we wouldn’t do it, but we’ve done it. We’ve made it to the 18th. That’s for the haters. Yeah, you tell them, Birdie. You tell them. It’s another one of our lengths there, isn’t it? 35 to 40 ft. Absolutely. But I would like a birdie because I’d like to bring at least one club back with me from France. I’ll leave them all here. Graeme, this would be nice to finish at three under, wouldn’t it? It would. It would be uh I’ve enjoyed the format, Dan. I was a bit skeptical in the car, I must admit. As it turned out, when we when you got down to it, we were fortunate that we had the right club at the right time. Your six iron at the par five was Yeah. Just critical. Yeah. Anything in there, boys? Uh just off the left, Bernie. Just a fraction. [Applause] Yeah. Just swung just like two two three feet short of that hole. It just moves a fraction, doesn’t it? I’ve got a really good chance. Yes, Graeme Ruth. Yes. What a way to finish. Oh, I love it. Birdie. Superb. Thank you very much. Very fitting way to finish. The best player holding the last part. Bring home a club from France. Well, what a delight that was. I know everybody was a little bit skeptical, as Graeme says, of the format, but we managed to get it done and it was quite entertaining. Absolutely. Well, I think in the end, they probably didn’t need to be the judge of that. Yeah. Yeah. Let’s true. It was entertaining for us, wasn’t it? But comment down below. What did you think about even know it’s been good? Yeah, exactly. Right. Just want to take this opportunity to thank Dunkut Golf Club for allowing us out here today. I mean, absolutely wonderful golf course. So different, but cool at the same time, you know. Um, a big thank you to Graeme for organizing this whole trip, bringing us over here, driving us around. A big thank you to Piano Fairies. A big thank you also to Euro Camp. And a big thank you to Bernie as well for being head of cameras. Fantastic, boys. Enjoyed it. Brilliant. 1. Well done boys great game to play it’s something different and I love things to be different as we always seem to play the same all the time

  2. Very enjoyable, what a team. Very reminiscent of watching the Lionesses last night. Only fitting Graham should sink the final putt. Well played 👏👏

  3. Great vlog. Unfortunately you were leaving Bernie with too many special moments. Not good for his stress😂. Yeah a birdie

  4. Great stuff Dan. One possible adjustment to the format could make it easier maybe would be to still have all players hit like a scramble but only lose the club for shot chosen

  5. Any format with Dan and Bernie playing together is a win for me.
Graham has been a delight too.
Crikey, some of those negative comments 😂😂, I love Dan's polite responses when he'd love to write jog on
Keep up the great content Dan, more of you and Lester please
