Tony Finau speaks to the media following his second round at The Open Championship.”

Hey. Hey. What’s up? Two good days and trending. No. I mean, what would you say about these two first days here? Yeah, it was good. I played nicely today after the bogey start. I played really clean and hit a lot of good shots. Anytime I was out of position, I was able to find my way back to the fairway and and salvage some nice pars. So, I thought on this golf course that was a good good start. There’s been some interesting situations with caddies here this week. Can can you tell us who’s your caddy and when you made the decision? Yeah, Colin Burn is my caddy this week. He’s obviously a very well-known caddy. He catered for a Chief Gusen for many years and had a lot of success with him, but um being on this side of the pond, he’s from Ireland, so it’s pretty cool to have him on the bag. Knows this golf course pretty well and he’s definitely been helpful the first two days. How did that happen, Tony? How did you hook up with him? Yeah, well, he came pretty highly recommended, you know, when I was looking for a guy here this week and uh I I can see why. He’s got a lot of experience, veteran caddy. He’s been on tour for many years. I know Catti uh you know also cattied on live and so he’s been around the block and caddy for a lot of great players and so I thought he’d be a good fit for me this week. What is it that uh fits your eye with Lynx golf? How did you become good at this? Yeah. Well, you know, I like cur I like working the golf ball and I don’t mind playing it on the ground and I think that it gives you that opportunity at on links on a link golf course. In the states, we the game’s kind of played in the air. You know, you how far can you fly it? How much can you spin it? You know, those, you know, the golf courses there ask you for that. These courses um ask you for shot making, creativity, and I’m able to kind of dig back into my creativity a little bit and um play shots that I normally wouldn’t be able to play in the States. So, it’s it’s pretty fun. Great. Hi Tony. I was just going to ask cuz obviously you did really well in 2019 top three. Obviously this golf course gives you great memories here. So I take it from the memories of six years ago. It’s given you a good plan ahead of this week. Yeah, no doubt. You know it does. But uh I will say I’m playing the golf course a lot differently than I did in uh in 19. I don’t know if uh you know the conditions I think are a little bit different, but I’m hitting a lot of different clubs off the tea. I’m a little more aggressive um this year. you know, I’m hitting more drivers than I did in 19. Um, but that’s just the way I’m playing and the way I see it right now. So, but it is nice to come back to a golf course. You’ve had some success and um had a nice finish. You know, we’re we’re looking to get two more spots better than last time. I can tell from your smile. Thanks, guys. Thank you. Thank you. You guys

  1. A great feel player! Not sure you can teach that swing, you have to be blessed with superior eye hand coordination. Tony has it. Powerful! Always a favorite player of mine. Best of luck!
