Honestly good. Does it actually cost that much to repair or replace these things, no. But the cost here is the “stupidity” charge involved with what I imagine has been a history of people being idiots on the course

  2. AreYouDaveDavidson

For sure outrageous prices and I’d guess it’s to promote more respect for their carts. But I was posting this because I laughed at the “you probably bought it” line. People are taking this more serious than I anticipated lol

Is your course popular for bachelor parties?

  4. GolfGuy_824

As everything should. If you rent a car and wreck it, your insurance or you out of pocket pay for the repairs, not the car rental place.

People who cause damage to carts abuse them. Unless something actually breaks on its own and causes it to be wrecked, 99/100 times a cart ends up flipped over or in a water hazard because someone was doing something with it they shouldn’t have been. They should have to pay for those repairs because if it falls on the course to do it, you’ll be complaining that tee times are more expensive because they’ll pass those costs onto everyone otherwise they’ll have to close the course OR carts won’t be an option.

i worked as a cart boy in college you really have to be an asshole to break these things. totally reasonable.

  6. CTGolfMan

I sure as shit aren’t replacing any of those things if another golfer hits my cart.

  7. Hal__Jameson

says a lot about the typical golfer that plays this course. if these types of people are so common here that they need to post a sign, that’s a place i’m gonna avoid. shrink the game.

Damaging a cart at a golf course is absurdity. Like what in the world is wrong with you if you find yourself in that situation and it’s not a complete freak accident?

  9. Special-Boss-5419

I might start an argument for this, but would you be legally required to pay if you damaged it? It’s kind of like the unspoken rule of you break you buy it in a store, but I don’t think that’s enforceable either.

I’m just here for the Mr. Super Badass “*ain’t no way I’m paying those prices*” responses.

  11. Strong_Baseball7368

Every stupid label or sign has a moron and a story behind it. Just be glad the cart doesn’t have a “do not eat” sign on it.

  12. LawlessCrayon

Seems a bit high for a plastic windshield, also how could you break one of those without parking it in front of the tee box?

When I was in college I finished a round and loaded everything in my car and went to return the cart. As I was pulling out of the parking lot a truck came flying around the corner and I had to swerve to avoid getting run over and crashed into the rock sign for the course. They charged me $1,300 to fix the cart which as a college student was a fuck load of money to me at the time. Turned it into my renters insurance as a personal liability claim and they paid it lol

  14. I’ve always wondered why is there not just some kind of insurance fee that’s priced into the hiring fee

  15. ubiquitous_archer

No rear bumper so just back into everything.

  16. Redneckinvest

Here’s the thing. If the cart has a flat I’m not paying for the tire. That’s the courses fault for not maintaining tires

  17. Protomau5

I like it, even if it’s a scare tactic it beats having people actually sign off on carts for every single group. Social media has taken a toll on carts and grounds maintenance since Covid.

  18. Serious_Fig_8041

Never thought I’d see a sign from Grand pines on this subreddit.

  19. TechnicalDecision160

Must happen a lot at this course. Should be at all courses.

  20. Lucky-Grand-9447

Local course near me sent out an email stating the following for cart repairs in 4 months of the official season totaling $13,140. Absolutely mind boggling

    5 windshields $600
    4 bag holders $250
    3 bodies were smashed $1400
    1 roof $360
    2 rear post $150
    2 front ends $ 400
4 bent front steering plates $120
    1 engine $3000

Same course that you’re guaranteed a 5-6 hour round if you tee off after 8 on the weekend.

a clear indicator that the wrong people are playing golf these days. i hope they all move onto pickleball or some dumb hobby sport

  22. My local goat track makes you show id and prove you’re at least 21 to drive the carts. This started about a month ago after some teens were taking the carts over bumps trying to catch air and crashing into eachother. They broke an axle and the body panels on the carts.

  23. rigidlynuanced1

Good. Idiots in golf carts need consequences

  24. sleeptalken

A canopy (roof) at my local municipal costs $450

On a separate occasion I found out the axle was about $175

Don’t ask me how I know this

  25. Imaginary-Length8338

Nice sign to remind people not to be arseholes

  26. IsaacJacobSquires

My course got new carts two years ago and they were totally beat to shit within a year. People are pathetic.

  27. redinferno26

The order of the list is infuriating.

    Not alphabetical.
    Not in order of price.
Not in order of the placement of the damaged piece of the cart.

What’s the order ? This is anarchy!

  28. condensationxpert

This is silly. We had a cart break down the other day and they used another cart to push it back to the clubhouse. Then on the 9th we had another cart break down, so we pushed it back to the clubhouse to get another cart. This is a nicer course too, completely random we had two carts break down.

Point is, knowing that courses will use a cart as a push cart for the broken down ones, I’d be furious if I got charged for a cowl or bumper.

Don’t get me started on the windshield. They’re almost always cracked.
