Four bikes, two disciplines, one epic showdown!
Enduro legends Jonny Walker and Billy Bolt bring their motorbikes back to the world’s gnarliest downhill track – Red Bull Hardline Wales. But they’re not going it alone. They’re joined by MTB’s favorite twins, Matt & Jono Jones in the ultimate relay battle.
THE TEAMS:
๐๏ธ๐ตโโ๏ธ Team 1: Jonny Walker (Enduro) & Jono Jones (MTB)
๐๏ธ๐ตโโ๏ธ Team 2: Billy Bolt (Enduro) & Matt Jones (MTB)
THE CHALLENGE:
Each team must strategize when and where to hand over the baton along the course. Will they play to their strengths, or will the handover location make or break their run? The team with the fastest time to the bottom, WINS.

We’re about to go headto-head in an epic relay race at Red Bull Hardline, the toughest mountain bike race on Earth. Each team has one mountain bike rider and one motorbike rider. The mountain bikes will start the race and the motorbikes will finish it. Oh, he goes wide and he goes down. The team with the fastest time down the mountain will be the winners. Who’s going to win? Let’s find out. On the motorbikes, we’ve got Billy Bolt, five time Super Enduro World Champion. This is my very first time seeing the mountain, seeing the track, seeing any of it. And from the start to whatever point this is is savage. We’ve also got Johnny Walker, the only man to ever complete the Red Bull Hardline track on a motorbike. I’ve got experience from being here, so yeah, I do have a little bit of an advantage. But this race has a strategy twist. Each team gets to decide at which point on the course they want to hand over to their teammate. Wow, this place is mental. Is he going to go high on the rocks? He does. Whoa. Mate, the same happened to me. That’s where our tire came off last year. It kicked me out. Rebel Hardline is the gnarliest course ever. First time Billy’s seen the course. Johnny’s checking it out again. It’s all coming flooding back. It’s such a a scary track. You look at it on the photos and it looks big, but when you actually come here, it’s so much gnarlier. I think Billy’s a little bit intimidated, but also like he’s putting on a brave face. He’s not going to want to show any weakness. Oh, I’ve got it dialed. You get the 90s. They’re not small. Do you want to know what? I’m actually pretty nervous for the second one. And I feel like you get a lot of speed off that. You do? Yeah. I was really breaking. I remember. [Music] Ah, that’s chill. That’s chill. Let’s go, baby. [Music] This is what’s next. I don’t like this one. This one’s quite a big drop down, isn’t it? Obviously, it’s massive. The videos make it look so easy, but real life it’s it’s definitely not. The first time hitting this, I was so scared. I think I had about 10 to 15 runins. I’m just going to have to watch a video and then just pull the pin and go and then drag Billy off. Or you can drag me off. One or the other. Did you pull up off this? Like no. Just off. Just off. Oh my god. I landed off the second last one in the bumps and my friend just went like this all the way off the takeoff. These ones? Yeah, [Music] this has been a savage day. What the? Right, in this relay race, we are allowed to exchange the pattern or swap from push bike to motorbike wherever we want on the course within reason. So, I think now we’re starting to figure out who’s fast, who’s slow. It’s time to go and talk to our teammates. I’m not going to not telling you my plan. We got to figure out where we swap. I think this is where we should hand over. Right above the lily pad and the 90s. You’re so fast down there. Like mountain bikes won’t touch you. So, if we do it somewhere around here, I think literally before the takeoff, because as you said, the BM’s not too good for you to carry speed. Yeah. I’ll set off third gear, fourth gear, fifth gear away. Right down the bottom. You might not like my plan, but do you know like the big step down cliff drop thing? From there down, you’ll actually be faster than me cuz it’s a bit flat. You’ve got an engine. So, if you flat, to be honest, you’ll end up doing 2/3 of the entire track. So, we’re swapping above the step. So, if I come I’ll do the whole top section, which is more than you think. Any pedaling up there or you just cruising down? If you’d like the opportunity to ride more of the track, I’m giving it to you. Right. How how generous of you, Matthew? Well, Matt Jones all heart there. It’s his brother, twin brother Jon O Jones that will drop in first though. Three times a racer here at Red Bull Hardline Wales. Plenty of experience on this track and his teammate Johnny Walker, the only man ever to ride a motorcycle from the top to the bottom of this thing. So, here’s the benchmark then. Jonno Jones on track. his twin brother there set him off and he’s fast across this open rock section. The bedrock coming through. Horrible shapes there. Snatching your wheel left and right from you. Jonno Jones though. Loving these dry conditions through that compression. They’re going to set up to the right here just to get out of the V for this big drop. There he goes. And now a gap across. Oh, comes up short on that. You can hear it from Jonno on the brakes. Now things get technical. Few different lines in here. Goes low. Catches that Burman. Now he’s going to be on the brakes. Super super steep. Now this new section for last year’s hard line. Oh, cross the gap there. Nicely into this big catch B and off the brakes across this camber. Sets up again. Another big drop. Pulls for that. Gets it well. And nicely into that B. And now Jono going to enter a part of the track that will feel more familiar to him. 40 ft down. Massive impact on the landing of that step down. And hard on the brakes now fighting to get it stopped for this lefthander. And of course Matt his brother will have already handed over to Billy here. And it’s hard to believe a motorcycle will be able to deal with this tight single track as quick as we’re seeing this. Threading a needle. Jonno O Jones picking his way through these tiny gaps. Look at this. And now he hands over to the threetime Red Bullersburg winner Johnny a Walker onto the lily pad. Step on, step off. Squashing on the way off. On the brakes for the first 90. Hard accelerated again. No problem scrubbing that second one. Coming into these BMS now. Again, a little tight I would say for the motorcycle, but flip-flopping that extra weight left and right beautifully through here. And now approaching this ultra technical tight section. Loads of rocks there. Super super tight. Ah, and a mistake from Walker. Then he stalls as he gets pushed over to that rock on the right. And now, well, this the most terrifying feature, the road gap. Walker safely across there. And now entering into another section where that motorcycle is going to feel massive. Super tight turn. Super steep. Rocks everywhere. taking his time, but now he’s going to have to get on the gas as he approaches this drop now. Walker sends it. No problem there. And he should be able to get on the power a little bit now as he goes across the mountain in this direction for the last time. The kind of going he’s more used to in the world of enduro getting on the power wherever he can. Holds a tight line around this lefthander and onto the last straight he comes now. And he’s on the power. So just this 70 foot finish line jump to go. Johnny Walker crosses the line. 25779 the time to beat. Oh my god, what a run. That was mad. Jono came in and he’s like shouting at me. He’s like, “Go, go, go.” And I like set off as fast as I could. And I did a pretty good run. A few little mistakes, but I think we’re going to be close for a win there. Well, Johnny sounding quietly confident, but there’s the small matter of this dynamic duo about to drop in. Matt Jones, there he is. He’s going to hand over to the fivetime super enduro world champion Billy Bo a little further up the track actually than his brother Jon O Jones just handed over to Johnny Walker. So, let’s enjoy this. Matt Jones attacking this top section and showing us just how rough this Red Bull Hardline track is. Nowhere to hide up here. trying to resist reaching for those brake levers. Gets out on the grass there a little bit. Coming up now towards this first drop. Jono super quick off here. Matt, I’m going to say a little bit more cautious. Gets a better kick out of there though. Makes the landing split. One coming up. What’s it going to be then for Matt Jones? Oh, and he’s back. Nearly two seconds back then. So, work to do here. heading now into this really steep drop. Trying to stay off those brakes as much as he can safely across there and into this long catch BM. Now he’s going to turn left here. Another drop and he’s going to hand over to Billy Bolt. Remember this is way above where the previous team handed over. Massive risk then. Can Billy Bolt match Jonno O Jones down through this huge single track section. 2 seconds in a rears. A bar fast down there though. Perhaps a motorcycle able to stop or offering more traction, but surely it’s going to lose time here. The front pushing there for Billy Bolt. Oh, and spectacular stuff. I didn’t believe you’d see a motorcycle ridden through here this quick. Sniper rocks everywhere. Next split coming up. Then what’s Billy Bald? Ah, he pulls back 1.8 seconds. Two only now to find to take the lead here. Incredible stuff. And Bolt really aggressive then through these big 9 furs. Landed hard on the power then hard on the brakes there. Look at this. So Billy Bolt, one of the loosest units, one of the wildest riders and one of the most brilliant rides on his emotion and it’s a man who does not like to get beaten. Now this technical section, Johnny Walker made a mistake in here right there. Billy B cleanly through there. So surely now the clock will be green. Next split coming up then. Here it is. What’s it going to be? Oh, it’s green by 1.32 then. So Billy Bolt doing the impossible here. So quick down through those two big jumps. That mistake of Johnny Walker really proven costly. But look at the pace of Billy Bald down here. He is just eating this track up. Off this drop he comes. No mistakes for B. It goes wide and he goes down. Billy Bolt crashes out of Red Bull Hardline here. Oh my goodness me. Well, he was risking it all. He rolled the dice. He paid the price. Riding so brilliantly, taking massive chances, but a catastrophic error there. Well, it wouldn’t be Billy Bolt if it went down any other way. That’s how he rides. Last straight for him. Johnny Walker looks on. His prediction was right. Amazing stuff. But it’s Johnny Walker and Jonno Jones who take the win. It crashed. No. Oh man. Oh man. I’m gutted. Our strategy was better and our riding was better. And that’s the race. Oh, fair play.

What would you like to see next from Red Bull Hardline? ๐ค
fair play
haha if there's 2 things this video shows: 1) We miss Rob Warner commentating!! 2) GoPro POV doesn't do anything justice. Seeing those drops POV I think I might be able to try them. Seeing them from the top or side view – I'm scared to even be watching!!
I could focus when Matt went because of the camera angle on his chest where his brother have a helmet camera which in my opinion makes for a better experience and not making me feel sick.
Offcourse motocross is the best paid and best sport to watch than dh bikes
Love it
So entertaining
This is actually pretty cool. What I immediately thought of is those lame cross-country mountain bikers, that you see videos of time after time, getting upset at motorcyclists riding the same trails because they are โmessing up the trails.โ Here you see motor-bikers riding the same downhill mountain bikers trails, and none of the riders who actually ride these trails, are getting upset. Good stuff.
BB was freaking MOVING down that run… Shame he lost the front end like that!

great vidoe loved it onyl think i would say is matt's view wasnt the best for us to watch
Prima metto mi piace, poi vedo il video โผ๏ธโฆe che video๐๐

Hela sick video but man the commentary was irritating
I quit watching because of the AWFUL commentary. Some little Brit yelling isn't my idea of anything I want to be involved with in any way.
i think we can call this a perfect promo for Hardline
fantastic job everyone
You guys should try to do it in a smaller frame E bike, like a Altis Sigma or Artic Leopard EX 800
Maybe some new content? Jonny did this in a Beta and was far more entertaining.
I can honestly there is not one bit of that track I would ride. Well maybe the last 20 metres of grass ๐
I would wish this guy does the commentary in any decent mtb'ing game…
Downhill motocross soon will be an official event ๐
That was absolutely brilliant to watch ๐
Well, from the different POV angles we saw, I think Jono and Billy's position under the visor was the best, followed by Jonny with it on top of the helmet. Matt's chesty cam was a distant dead last and looked extra awful from the frame rate making the movement of the bike look super jerky ๐คข It was such a relief to get to Billy after watching that.
Shoutout to Rob Warner ๐
Jones Brothers Feckin LEDGENDS !!!!! jonney and billy are pretty good too ,lol unbelievable talents the lot of them
A hardline enduro special would be unreal!! Just saying
announcing absolutely made this
10:55 Classic comentators curse moment 'No mistakes for B……'
Wonderfull commentary with the pace ratcheting up as the race goes on and almost verging on hysterical by the bottom of the track great stuff on a par with Murry Walker at his best/worst.
Bolt all day ๐
He does the harder the better come on bolt
That cest camera is just horrible.
"and our riding was better" was the perfect comeback! Nice 1 Jonno
