Donegal bounced back from a disappointing defeat to Tyrone last weekend and got the better of Cavan in impressive fashion in front of a bumper crowd at Kingspan Breffni Park.

it’s hard to believe that the world has changed so much since last August but it certainly has Sports events and matches will revert to behind closed doors And for the first time in 20 years there’s no back door And surely now it has to be C’s title C have won the championship for the first time in 23 years It is an amazing day for football [Applause] [Music] Shane O’Donnell being challenged there by Poric Faulner just lost his footing the cabin defender and that allows O’Donnell to move inside and kick Donny Gold’s first point of the match And it comes as far as Kan Madden Madden will continue his run and get the ball back again in along the end line Goes with the fist and gets the point Good score again for Caven Murphy takes that one and now has a yard to shoot Michael Murphy for Dunny goal with a two-pointer That pushes them three in front in the 11th minute Murphy delivers with his [Applause] opportunity Driving forward is Kian Riley Just about control the bounce Now the shot will come in Half block on that Punched in and it’s in the back of the net Somehow it found its way in and Cavan have the opening goal of the match Dy go looked well set at the back post as Brienne O’ Connelly helped it back across goal and it went off Gavin Mulra Cavan moving nicely now in this first half They’re playing into the breeze as well Nice ball into that full forward line And here’s the shooting opportunity for Darren Mciti It’s holding its line and over the black spot it [Applause] goes Shane O’Donnell Murphy has a runner That’s Connor O’Donnell Well worked score from Donny Gaul They move in front again by nine points to a goal and five Having a coughed up possession This will be the final play Okay the Hooter is already sounded and Donny go moving forward with purpose They’ve got runners coming here as well Murphy’s looking for it Bodies in front of him too Shifts it on towards McBerty They might be in They are It’s a goal for Donny goal on the stroke of Halime and it’s finished home by Finn Barerty Murphy’s hand pass to McGreerty The corner forward then made it easy for Finn Barerty who’s having a wonderful season and that pushes Dunny goal seven in front [Applause] That kick out straight to a Cavan player and the home team might be in here This is McI He’s outside the arc trying to hook it in on the breeze and he’s measured it perfectly Darren McY for Calvin makes it a five-point game Held off the challenger Shane O’Donnell and kicks a lovely [Applause] score Cavan looked to be well set up here Kiran Thompson has found a way through It might open up out towards Murphy who kicks the point Michael Langan Good hand pass And now it’s in for Connor O’Donnell Great goal And that could well be that Michael Lang’s hand pass Great run from Connor O’Donnell And then presented with the chance for the shot He made no mistake [Applause] Really impressive second half this from Donny Cole forward towards Ushin Gallam was listed to start here He is looking for a score and that is easy for a player of Oshin Gallen’s [Music] caliber goal trying to find a way through and they have There might be another goal on here and that’s the icing on the cake for the visitors It’s finished by Keen McC around the back The goalkeeper got a touch on it but it still found its way through [Applause] And it’s finished in a comprehensive win for Donny Gaul The full-time score Caven 113 Donny Gaul 326 Donny Gaul will face Mayo next with a venue yet to be confirmed We wouldn’t be happy with Crow Park now because our supporters have you know been through the ringer uh probably up to this point financially and uh it’s not easy getting there and it’s expensive to stay there and all all those types of things But listen uh there’s more important people than me making those decisions D We have two points after two games So as say we’ve a very difficult challenge now against her own in two weeks but they’re coming from a very similar place as ourselves So it’s about you know drawing a line in today’s defeat um taking it taking it as men and and getting back to the drawing board now tomorrow evening uh and really just applying ourselves to to bring you know a a better 70minute performance as a

Up donegal
Shocking highlights for a game that wasn't televised.
Awful 'highlights' package – and 10% of the 5 minutes covering covid. Must do better.
Why is this not like other highlights? We don't need an intro
I went to the game and the first half was so dirty
It's a learning curve for many of the Cavan players. Donegal were always going to be the favourites to win the game. Experience and quality were the difference between the two teams.
Ya have to ask yourself how Cavan actually achieved what they did in 2020 when you see how Donegal who didn't play great in the first half I must say really ripped Cavan apart in the second half scoring into a breeze.
A depressing 2nd half for Cavan as their forwards were starved of possession and all Cavan's players were even hungrier after the game where I suspect Galligan probably Cancelled their post match dinner.
