shane Smith warms up he will get the ball for his 10th start of the season he’s been the best pitcher on the staff so far this season for the White Socks especially at home and four starts in RA under two and JP Crawford who was aboard plenty last night begins this afternoon with a leadoff walk the stretch and the pitch it’s outside for ball four so Palano draws a walk now the Mariners in business right away back-to-back walks and a very early visit ethan Katz the White Sox pitching coach but two quick walks to begin things here today and put some men on base in front of Julio this is hammered out to center field robert racing after it and it is gone over the fence and right away a blast from Julio a threerun bolt and the Mariners take an early lead now we saw Julio on the first night with that grand slam hitting that ball to left field he’s been pulling the ball a lot more in the last couple weeks the man this time going right center letting that ball get on him a little deeper that fast ball right down the middle and just like that the Mariners with a three nothing lead over the White Socks right away the Mariners three and the White Sox coming up here in the bottom of the first inning to take a look at 23-year-old rightander Logan Evans who’s been outstanding so Chase Maid he’s really settled in nicely at the top of the order for the White Socks will Vanal was asked “Is he your leadoff hitter for the rest of the season?” He said “I don’t know for the rest of the season but for right now he looks pretty good.” And look at him go now a nineame hit streak for Chase Maid as he starts this bottom of the first with a double seemingly he leads off two out of every three games with a base hit here’s a swing and a drive straightaway center field but Julio right there to make the catch taging at second heading for third midroth the long throw to third is going to be cut off by JP Vargas flies out and Maidroth advances 90 ft so a runner at third with one out three nothing Mariners and that’ll bring up catcher Matt Dice swinging and a foul tip that’s strike three so Evans beats him on a curveball big strike out for out number two and here comes Robert two big Ks for Evans as he dances around trouble williamson goes down swinging strike out number three for Shane Smith so now the Mariners have more on a third with two outs three nothing Mariners and that’ll bring up JP Crockett a swinging a fly ball out in the center and it’s Robert backpedaling and he’ll make the catch mariners spray a man at third after an inning and a half seattle three socks nothing so Palasios with a walk one on and one away for the White Socks bottom of the second Mariners lead three nothing that’ll bring up designated hitter Andrew Vaughn swinging a ground ball is short jp over to Dylan at second there’s one to throw to first there is two logan Evans one pitch gets the double play and the side is retired so Randy at first Cal at second so two on with two out for Rowdy to Liz shane Smith walked the first two batters of the ball game and then gave up a three-run home run to Julio Rodriguez so that’s where we stand now a three nothing lead for the Mariners we’re two away in this third inning ground ball right to Sosa pop the mitt and lob it to Elco and that’s that mariners strand a couple three nothing Seattle elco appearing in his 10th game at this level he’s 4 for 27 with two home runs this one sent a long way in the air to left it goes it is long gone tim Elco gets the socks on the board with his third home run of the season that was a mistake 02 sweeper right down the middle and Elco made Evans pay and they’re on the board socks trail 3 to one matt Dice is aboard to open the fourth 31 Seattle here in the rubber game tying run at the plate sosa sends one sky high out in the deep left arena will watch it go and we’re tied that is a two-run homer for Sosa the wind has changed it’s blowing toward the left field corner and that one got up in the jetream and just carried out of the ballpark so Lane now has driven in 13 but more importantly the Socks have tied the game at three that early lead for Seattle has gone away so they’re back in it 3-3 here’s Palasios palosios that one’s got a chance going back in ride get out backto back palms here for the Socks and the first lead of the game a 43 lead here in the fourth inning the second home run of the season for Palasios that time he rode it way out of the ballpark that was a no doubter he just absolutely crushed it white Sox four and the Mariners three bottom of the fifth julio closing on this and he slides and makes the catch little slip and slide out there in center field today covers so much ground out there in center field we go to the sixth inning mariners trailing the White Socks four to three new pitcher on for the Socks so the day is over for the starter for Chicago smith is done cal Raleigh will stand in he leads things off in the sixth mariners down a run out to left field back by the wall and Cal Raleigh another game tying home run number 16 on the season it’s a brand new ball game it’s tied 44 in the sixth now when the game starts to get late there are few who come up with bigger hits than this man Cal Roberts top of the seventh inning and the Mariners and the White Sox all tied at four two outs runners on the corners for the Mariners cal searching for his third hit today on a 3-1 he takes low ball four the Mariners have the bases loaded for a Ros Arena two grand slams in Ry’s career one this season trying to put the Mariners in front in the seventh inning next pitch to a Ros Arena ground ball my drop the shorts stop and the Mariners cannot cash in with the bases loaded in the seventh here is Maid and a big spot first and second one out seventh inning tied at four inside out swing gets into right field they’re going to wave in Elco he will score the go ahead run and Chase MRO the youngster comes through yet again an RBI single here in the seventh inning yeah Mroth is he’s a fun one because trying to box him up in a corner and say we’ve got you now he’ll scratch his way out and find a way to do something positive well here we go to the top half of the eighth inning it’s the White Socks five and the Mariners four a single and an error and the tying run is at second with nobody out and the batter is Tiveres fly ball right field tiveres tagged it back does he get all of it he does leone Tiveres his first home run as a Mariner a go ahead shot in the eighth inning the Mariners lead it six to five it’s a tribe for the first time well here we go to the bottom of the ninth inning the Mariners with a 65 lead over the Chicago White Socks and on in relief Senior Smoke andre Munoz will take over to get the final three outs into left field for a base hit and the White Socks will bring the winning run to the plate bond works a two strike base hit out of it fly ball center field easy play for Julio comes in a few steps and now back a little bit of a windy day once again here in Chicago not a big surprise there is out number one soft fly ball more of a popup there is Master Bone foul ground two outs and the White Socks down to their final out here in this ninth inning so it all comes down to the rookie Chase my drop ground ball behind the bag reboss a foot race to second that’s the ball game the Mariners win it and they have just taken the series and they are winners of their last seven road series six to five the final score today in Chicago

  1. Another game that was closer than it should have been – the story of the series. M's were lucky to get 2 of 3 – the offense hit .192 for the series – but the pitching held up and didn't give up the free passes. The offense needs to step it up against the Astros – go M's!

  2. What's frustrating is Mariners having bases loaded with 1 out. Or runners on 1st and 3rd with 1 out. And can't score. It's frustrating to watch.

  3. Career at bats per home run. Tim Elko – 10.33 Mark McGwire – 10.61 Aaron Judge – 11.31 Babe Ruth – 11.76 Barry Bonds – 12.92 Jim Thome – 13.76
