what’s up guys welcome back to the channel i’m here with Josh Mayor we brought him into the studio for a test uh now Josh you currently play which iron set i ripped the uh the 301 CDs right now and you like them i do i Yeah absolutely but you got a question here i do have a question so my question I’ve kind of flip-flopped back and forth between the 301 CBS and the 101TS i was playing the 101Ts probably majority of last year since I have switched to the 301cs i’m not exactly sure why I switched back to be honest uh and so that’s kind of what what I want to figure out today is like exactly which club is the best for me and for my game first thing we’re going to do smack a bunch of golf balls okay uh just so y’all know both of these clubs have the KBS Tour 120 S flex shaft you normally use a KBS Tour Caper shaft um but we’re using the same shaft in both of these so the shaft might be a little different than he normally uses but it is the same in both irons right and the head is the thing the the variable that is different so that’s that’s what we’re looking at before we go any predictions what do you think is going to work better for me oh man it’s tough cuz like you’re you’re pretty good ball striker like you’re not hitting the you’re not hitting the club hitting the ball all over the face so I don’t think you’re going to be like man I am desperately need all the forgiveness of the one T’s um I think it’s going to come down to feel and I think that workability is going to matter a lot if you’re like man I really want to kind of be able to flight it i think that’ll be a big thing okay prediction we could I guess we’ll find out yeah i’m not going to give a prediction i just want to I want the the clubs do the talking i want the clubs do the talking and then we’ll find out so you going to start oneonone uh yeah let’s do one tease perfect i mean even just after a few shots I feel like I can swing easier or like I almost have to swing easier with the one T’s oh yeah absolutely does that make sense yeah which I don’t know if it is the worst thing but also I don’t know if I want to be thinking about that when I’m I feel like when I’m actually playing golf and I’m not thinking as much I tend to swing harder same and so I don’t I don’t want to then get too much out of my clubs with that might be low so that one you you like you kind of reacted like you didn’t hit it that well yeah right yeah that was definitely low on the but it’s still if you if you look at the the dispersion over here on Oh yeah and see like a super that’s one that’s flashing and it’s boom it’s like just short of the 180 right about that 180 is sort of the average carry so you just haven’t hit that many poorly right like you’ve hit a lot of these pretty well i will say I noticed like which I with my swing now I do definitely draw the ball like that’s been inconsistent and I will say like I can feel it’s coming off a lot hotter and with a lot less spin when I do draw it which um which yeah I guess I don’t know that I I don’t know that I love I feel like the the ideal shot shape or what has looked the best and numbers wise has looked the best have been the little little cuts oh absolutely this out there’s there’s so much that goes into like deciding what Yeah there’s so much that goes into deciding what clubs you should be using if you if you look down at a club and it fills you with confidence it’s like okay well cuz you could play these numbers like you can play them and if you look down at the 1012 and you’re like man I love this thing well you can work this it’s not like it’s not coming down it’s not going to stop that’s stopping and it’s just not like backing up on you and you hit it a good distance so it’s like you could you could play it if you loved it you know but you just really like the look okay so that’s the last 101T all right all right got a little spinny one out to the right okay okay what are numbers saying Tim i mean listen we’re we’ll we’ll do a full recap here but let me let me throw these up on the screen we’ll tease the people right we’ll tease him a little bit so um you can see here boom we got some left to right we’ve got we got this it’s a lot of golf shots right there’s a ton you know I’m normally doing like maybe 10 shots with these depending on the test but important and we won’t show them yet this right here ooh you’re not i don’t hate that Tim i don’t hate that yeah I know so we’ll we’ll get to that we’ll get to that cuz it’ll be important so um we’ll switch over to the 301 CB7 iron just uh just a little note here i’m looking at both clubs now like they do not look different people think a hollow body it’s going to be one of these big giant forgiving irons and it’s like right it’s hidden like people see these in your bag they think they’re blades right and you can’t obviously you can’t tell like looking online you know you’re just kind of going off what the picture’s tough to really like see but when Yeah just make a note of that of like they do not look different than the 301 CBS uh the 101Ts do not look different looking down at them yeah you can see already very first swing your spin that with the other club okay so that’s Yeah I would say that’s a stock shot for me like just a little bit of a draw mhm almost a full thousand RPMs more obviously yep yeah i would say like speed and distance is not my issue no that’s not something that I necessarily like am that worried about i think No you’re hitting the ball it’s literally just It’s just dispersion yeah right so I’m I’m okay probably taking a little bit of distance off help me bring that dispersion down cobra had a new set of irons at the PJ show and I was just walking around hitting stuff and they had an eight iron okay and I hit it on a track man i hit a couple shots and it was flying 200 yards and I was like there’s no use yeah why do I want that how would you even build a bag right it’s like that’s and that’s one of the reasons why I’m playing the three ones like similar to you it’s like I’m not trying to hit these further i just I want to I want to hit a number how much of a difference do you find in the feel off the face between these two yeah I just think about that i think um it this feels more solid to me you’ve played baseball when you hit it solid off a forged versus the cast right it’s like the difference between hitting it out of the middle of a wooden bat versus a metal bat it’s like they both feel good but you hit it out of the middle of the of the cast one it’s a little bit more like that ball’s just gone yeah yeah like you can’t feel it at all yeah exactly yeah i will say for me like the feeling of hitting the center of the 301cb is probably a more satisfying feeling you know absolutely oh wow that was a thin piece but that’s probably going to go straight straight as Yeah just dead straight yep see like that’s I’ll take that miss all day oh yeah because speed isn’t my issue like a miss on the 301cbs still is in the general vicinity of where I want it to be because I can generate enough speed and even if it’s low or high it still gets there um whereas the 101T if I miss it’s more it’s more of a rocket ship low spin it’s going to like get me probably in more trouble but I would say if you’re if you struggle with speed and you’re misitting the club face then the 101T is going to get you where you want to be or it’s going to at least like get to somewhere around your target you need the right miss right when you miss it it’s not a big spinny fade right if it was a big spinny fade the 11s might actually be better because like you might you lose even more distance right it’s too much spin all of a sudden you know it’s going the other direction just running the numbers trying to mitigate as much risk as possible it feels like Yeah the 301’s yeah that’s what it looks like so far o man that sounded really good that sound Yeah that sounds so good that’s like dude I best one yet that’s another thing people are always hitting me they sound so good they They sound so good phenomenal i like And I know I’m technically paid to say that but like genuinely genuinely they sound really good i do sounds so good like I’ve hit a lot of clubs i’ve hit Mizunos i’ve hit Wilson’s i’ve hit Callaways Titalist like they sound like soundwise they are obviously on par with anybody i don’t know if I can mention other club companies like No I mean it’s literally it’s personal experience right yeah it sounds so good and then it also gives you instant feedback if you hit it a little high on the face yeah right hit this one okay and just put the ball placement a ball forward of where you normally would same swing ball forward to where you normally would so there’s your there’s your seven iron yeah it’s a little more outright cuz just it’s a little different than how you normally deliver so what are you looking for there okay so check this out ball position well that means you’re you’re hitting the ball a little higher and the spin rate goes up cuz you’re aggressive down at the ball that’s how you want to hit which is great right if you were more of like a sweet player well then the spin here even like the spin jumps all of a sudden for the one twos for you yeah you’re launching it higher this is stopping this is coming down at 47° land angle then all of a sudden it’s like well this miss isn’t as you’re you’re less likely to have that closed face pull yeah where it’s going like 100 yards past where I’m trying to go yeah so and all you did was move it forward a little bit now that’s not where you play so you’re not you’re not going okay I should change anything but if if you were literally if all was natural for you was the ball a hair further forward all of a sudden maybe the 101 playable ball placement can make such a huge difference now that that would be something like if you’re not hitting your irons high enough and you’re like man I’m just kind of everything’s coming off super low i go man if I put literally a hair further forward all of a sudden these numbers are like oh this this would be great you know interesting for other golfers who are watching like I swing at similar club head speed does that mean they’re not going to spin enough for me well no where’s the ball where’s the ball placement right this is Josh yeah right right you know this this is your numbers all right okay so uh last part of this workability um this is whatever you want it to be like you want to hit try to hit a couple draws that’s your natural shot shape try to fade it a little higher a little lower like how we’re going to do it i’m going to hit three draws and then try and hit three cuts and that’s that’s where we’re going to leave it at that’s just like a hook yeah yeah started left went left yeah now we’re talking yeah that’s another Well okay you probably send it left i feel like you make a natural swing it’s going left yeah that’s true actually that’s like that’s like when I need to wrap it around a tree or something okay so we know we can do that mhm try try a high draw little forward in the stance and then hit that hit that draw see if you can do that ooh that’s the contact sounded phenomenal felt really good yeah yeah so it’s Yeah start it and that dude that’s a that went up to 111 ft sheesh yeah you you smoked 200 but that also can be a little bit of the concern for you is like you got that 7 iron carrying 200 yards yeah yeah which is cool sure but but also probably not needed your club head speed jumped when that ball is more forward i actually noticed that well I definitely I feel like to hit it higher too I feel like I put a little bit more through it interesting all right cool okay now we’ll go cut don’t make me look stupid cut no oh yeah that’s a cut cut that’s a cut and honestly that’s actually a pretty good shot i like that dude if that was your stock shot yeah I’m going to cut that i like that this club would be This club would be money for you cuz like those numbers are good okay that might be a little overcut but I mean at least we know we can dude you can at least I know I can move it i feel like I think I can in my head but now there’s technical was up at seven yeah okay so that’s that’s we thought we’d see yeah that was over top that’ll probably be another one pretty pretty big slice dude the Tim attack angle’s crazy on that you were going wild with that attack angle dude okay so yeah i mean I guess the moving it right to left is probably a little aggressive for me with the 101T yep well you just you’re dropping the the spin’s dropping a lot like and it’s fine if your standard the spin was at 6500 normally and it drops to 55 or you know 57 but it’s not it’s dropping to four something that’s that’s just not the right math for you i don’t think now we’re going to switch over to the 301 it sounds so good so sounds so good yep that’s where that extra spin match that’s nice that’s dude you’re swinging it faster now like you’ve jumped in club head speed uh from what you were doing earlier i’m just getting lubed up potentially well and I’m closing the club face down intentionally and like Yep you’re getting more aggressive so rip that’s probably a little too much there okay now I mean still still a still a draw absolutely send this one out right i’m try to throw one out right that started right i think it’s going to draw yeah yeah it is yeah see all of a sudden all of a sudden that’s up to 126 ft 5500 spin but I Yeah I would say but like that was easy to do with this club like to just immediately switch it up and like Mhm yeah like that’s what I had in my head and that’s what came out absolutely oh just dead arrow just dead straight yep like if I try to cruise a swing oh there we go this little fade i mean like you and I have a similar thing where like the natural shot shape is just a draw i mean there’s something to be said here right as you’re as you’re hitting these fades for like why professionals do it cuz like it stops faster it’s more control like it’s not going anywhere yeah it’s just not you know not as scary yeah absolutely i’m going try and hit one more that was kind of That one kind of sucked yep there’s a little fade there’s that There’s that little pull fade right that’s the one that doesn’t spin up quite as much um but it it just kind of starts to left and drifts back right i love that shot shape yeah me too yeah i wish I wish that was my natural shot yeah kind of same it’s tough to switch too much stuff up with your swinging in your head it’s just like just swing normal just just swing just accept your shot swing DNA is definitely a thing yeah like that i feel pretty good i mean it’s Yeah just a little fade and And now like So I get why PJ Pros do this i get why that’s the shot yeah it’s just just manageable just so manageable okay little recap on these actual numbers here so 101Ts we have your dispersion here on the right and then we’ve got just kind of the the shot here so we kind of a lot a lot here yeah i would say Yeah my first thing I notice is just some big left misses for sure um and just like Yeah probably a couple that are just like a little bit too long and I’m flying a green or flying into somebody’s backyard yep with those probably i mean this shot here is the one that just scares you right and that and you have two or three of those in a round like that could that’s a double bogey right there potentially absolutely hitting an OB or something yep okay so then we go 301 CB and you can just tell like the whole screen got smaller like nothing’s in the Yeah we’re not even looking at those bunkers outside the the furthest left ones are over here but they’re not like way further they’re you know even when you pulled it now here is the So this is this is the outlet right this the the worst hit versus the worst hit here now that is interesting nothing shorter than the This is carry nothing shorter than that 160 line right so the worst there isn’t like some big outlier here here you have a couple few lower than 165 well that just kind of came in lower right there’s like a couple so that’s like that’s where like the touch of forgiveness shows up right there yeah but that’s 25 shots and the two that are a touch shorter are made up for by the fact they’re not going a mile left you know like you don’t have anything in this bunker here 100% so um yeah I feel like the just the grouping on this one is far better than the grouping on the 101 T’s i think this what I want to look at this is your impact right i said I think you’re a good enough ball striker that you’re not going to be hitt and then 301’s it’s even smaller interesting like and I think some of that probably was I hit more balls and like probably got a little bit better feel but still well I mean for sure but it’s just interesting that like it didn’t you’re you’re a good enough ball striker that that extra forgiveness it’s not Yeah right right right so okay now last thing this is just for the for the fun of it the workability 101Ts like you can move it left pretty far 301’s though don’t they don’t want to go as right for you dude but it it almost makes me think like dang should I figure out how to play a fade because those are just right on the money i mean and it doesn’t look like I can overfade a ball with 301cbs it really doesn’t like I should probably figure out how to play a fish the main takeaway from this apparently is Josh you need to play a fade yeah I need to play a fade yeah yeah who cares about the clubs i just need to I just need to figure out my swing and play a fade well there you go so 101T’s versus the 301 CBS for Josh Mayor and that’s a huge important to me big takeaway from this is for you for what you’re looking for from your game i think we have a clear winner for you yeah yeah for sure 301 CB yeah I think I’m I’m sticking with that and yeah just so helpful to know that though oh yeah and hopefully that helps some of you guys as well like if you’re similar body type to me swing speed like attack angle stuff like that um like you can you can use this video as a reference for yourself as well of like okay if you’re in between these two clubs or whatever for you guys back home like go check your numbers out right don’t just like eyeball like hey I kind of swing like him like go on a track man like get some of your numbers and then you’ll know like what kind of comparison are we looking at here you might have a lot of the same numbers and then like your attack angle is like 3° less okay well that’s going to matter um and if it’s identical well then there you go some good info anyway huge shout out
