Uh Gary, congratulations. What do you make of your performance tonight? Can we swear? I’d rather you didn’t, but feel free to say what you want. We’ll say shocking. No, it’s it’s one of these things. Practice board going great down there. Absolute mess. You know, miles off the treble, coming out my hands, trying me me grip and everything. Changed darts. Came back out, went back to the ones that was first starting using. And yeah, but I do like long points. Yeah. Yeah. 98 I think your average was in the end. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. If if you said 68 I’ went, well, that was about right. Surely it’s a good thing though. You’re not happy with how you’ve played. You’ve won 10 five. You won the last five legs on the spin. We did five five. I went right, we’ve got to do something. Just had a we bit of niggle myself and Yeah. But Luke started to struggle, you know. You could see it. The first I did laugh to myself. The first two legs we played tonight, he gave it licks and I just laughed. after a wet. Yeah, keep going. Ain’t going to last. You know what I mean? And he did. He gave it big. I mean the one I think you took a 167. So after the second leg, Chris. Yeah, that was a kick in the gahulies. Can we say gahulies? You can, mate. Yeah. Or balls or what you want, mate. Okay. Um Dave’s having a heart attack. Yeah. Yeah. Lost first two, then you reeled off for spell. Then he got back at 55 and then you reeled off and you know your numbers 55. Yeah, it’s going to be a long night, but no. Yeah, it came it came good at the end, you know. Start just to score 180s. Don’t know where they went tonight. 14. Even the 140s miles off. So, okay. So, things to work on. I was going to say it can only get better. Well, that’s a good thing. It might not. It might get a hell of a lot worse, but no, no, the first rounds, like I say, any tournament, you’ve seen Luke Humphre get done, you know, you’ve seen Arsenal go from world number seven in the top 10. Yeah. To outside the top 20. He’s further down than what I’ve been in the last 30 years. Yeah. So, it’s big drop. Yeah. Um, I was going to ask you about the seeds. Obviously, this afternoon, they all went out. We’ve seen six of eight before you. Does that I mean, did do you pay any attention to that or No. Listen, the I keep listen I said I I don’t actually follow the arts I don’t watch darts you get told what goes on and you see a few things about the rankings and morning rankings need to change until until Barry said million pound first prize he’s a bugger a million bucks if we take that out of the equation and go the rank and say it’s still 500,000 they moan about because they drop so far but what you forget is when they win it they jump so are right. So when they win, say they win £100,000 and it shoves them up to the top four in the world, they’ve got two years, a lot of effing tournaments to defend that 100,000 that they’ve just won. So if they can’t do that, that’s not to do with ranking system. That’s to do with the player. So when they say the ranking systems are far, I think it will be once a million pound comes in, I could be I could be number three seed if I win it. Yeah, you could be. You could be. Is a fact. You don’t mind going back to back when it’s a million quid. They say the players drop, but you’ve got to remember the players were down there when they won it. So that’s pushed them up. And I always think that tells that tells you how the ranking should be. If you win it, you’ve got two years, which is a How many tournaments are running in a year? So you’ve got 100 tournaments. 100 tournaments to make up one uh £100,000 that you won in a big major. If you can’t do that, well, lesson learned. You can’t take your ass off the seat. Yeah. No. And it’s as simple as that. All right. Fair enough. Um look, you you’ve seen the big names go out. That obviously increases your chances of winning it. You you’ve got to be happy with that. No, I’m up to about 500 to one now. Um even Chris is over 50 p. You have won it here before. What would it mean to win another one? Yeah, listen, the the talent’s getting the t the talent with darts just now is through the roof, you know, to get past first round nowadays. I’m looking, look, we turn up, we’ll try. If you get past, great. Fantastic. If you don’t, it’s not the end of the world, you know. But, uh, the days are changing, you know. We’ve got the young guns coming through, but the old boys can still play, you know. We can still play. I can’t wait to have a senior’s peers tournament. I get lumbered with him across there. I reckon we could do all right. Yeah. Well, you might do. I’m not so sure about him. Oh, he’ll be all right. He’d be He’d be well told. Uh, very good. Got a couple of days off now. What’s happening with Gary Anderson? Ask the wife and kids. Okay. It’s expensive. The pleasure beach, you know. Listen, I was I’ve been here 24 hours and it’s cost me. Honestly, it’s cost me. Well, you got an extra few quid now, so you I’m sure you can manage. I might be breaking even. Oh, better than losing. Uh, Gary, congratulations. Cheers, mate. Well done. Thank you.

Gary is 100% right on the rankings. Players don’t complain about rankings when they are up there and have two on going years after each event to keep winning and protect their ranking, but if you go missing for 12 months, then you start to drop down.
My god talksport this interviewer was dreadful. Was great to see Gary Anderson run rings round him. There’s loads of former players who’d be great for this role
My favourite player is Luke Littler, yet I ave always liked Gary Anderson and he is very honest, and one of the best to listen to, as he is so perceptive.
He is right about the rankings
