What’s good with y’all? Back with another video and today I am testing a nostalgic grail. If you know, you know. Bro, I have the KD5 Elite in the EBL colorway. Um, bro, there’s only like five colorways of these and this is the EBL one. So, it’s even more special. This shoes like 12, 13 years old. And I’m going to take it to the court. I paid a decent amount. I paid like 200 for these. Don’t know how because if you go look on any brand new prices for these, you won’t find them under I think 850 was the lowest price and it was one size on StockX and I don’t think I’ve seen any on GOAT. So, very happy to have these. I wasn’t a fan of the KD5 high tops, but the elite version and the low tops, I’ve always wanted them. Not going to say they’re the best shoe ever or anything like that. Need to have them. But looks of them is crazy. So, let’s open up the box, show youall what you get. I wish Nike would bring back the Elite Series. They used to do for players in the playoffs. They used to make the shoes a little bit more expensive, make a special version, add some little details to the shoe, make them cooler. They literally chopped these in half and made them low top. But these are crazy, bro. Insane. EBL tag on the inside. Still has all the prints and stuff on the inside as well. EBL on the bottom of the shoe. You can see the traction is amazing. Still in great condition for these shoes being this old, bro. It’s actually insane. I like I I’m so happy I got these. They also come with extra laces. They come with orange laces. They come with blue laces as well. I like the laces are in them, though, so I probably won’t change them. Um, if you know, you know track spikes are always bright. I always like that when I did track for the few years I did in college and carried it over to the basketball world. I love Bright Hoop shoes. I’m going to take them to court, show you all the clips, and then we’ll come back here and see how they hold up cuz I’m praying these don’t break in my first wear. They are super old, so if it happens, it happens. Risk I take for y’all. But I got to take these to the court, bro. [Music] That’s [Applause] All right. [Music] [Music] All right, we’re back at the cribbo. I’m also going to do a mini review for this one just so you get a two in one type of video so I don’t have to make a review as well. I got me a couple buckets. We won a couple games. Uh it was LA finish and I’m leaving in a day. So I just wanted to get some light runs in before I played a celebrity game this weekend and I didn’t want to go too hard or anything like that. I had a good time playing these. I even made somebody quit because I kept scoring. He was mad his teammates couldn’t guard me. I don’t know. It was it was very interesting day. But that’s that’s LA Fitness for you. I low-key like hooping LA fitness. Some something always happens, man. It’s low-key hectic and I lowkey enjoy the hecticness a little bit. Well, to start, um, as far as a separation or anything on the shoe, there is a little bit in the toe box. I didn’t dunk or anything, so I definitely kept it calm and light. Looking around the rest of the shoe, it’s holding up, though. This is crazy. This is the right shoe. This is the shoe I usually have. No, it’s the left shoe I usually have separation issues with in all the Kobes and shoes like that that I put to the test. And while for the most part, there’s like some minor separation that I wouldn’t even really call separation. But other than that, bro, his shoe is intact. That’s crazy. Well, they were able to withstand the test. Now, let’s get into the review. Start off as a flywire upper. And you already know by the way I was talking about the shoe looks are a 10 out of 10. They need to prot these and bring back some other colors and new colors as well. I feel like 2K’s probably got like max four more years in the league. After that, they going to start proing all shoes. And I hope they go straight to the older models like the five elites. Um the sevens. We need some pro sevens for sure. Need some pro eights. Trying to think what is it? Nah, I already pro the threes and fours. I don’t even know what the ones and twos are. I know what the ones look like and I don’t want those. So, these next on the list, Nike, if you you watching, please prot. Um, I did a lock down test as well. I was able to slip my foot out with a decent amount of pressure. It was fully tied and everything, but hooping. I didn’t have any heel slippage or anything on the court. Midsole tech. We have a zoom unit in both the forefoot and the heel. This if you could hear that hard as a rock. I like can’t even compress the heel air unit, cage unit, whatever they want to call it at all. Cush is like a five out of 10. These were surprisingly more comfortable than I thought they would be though. Like I thought they would genuinely hurt the plan and I was out there felt fine. I did wear some NBA socks today. I usually wear Supreme socks just cuz I like the way they look, but there was no reason behind it. I just haven’t thrown on some NBA socks today. So, they definitely have a little bit more padding. But the first time I did the review on these, I did have on Supreme socks and no issues either. Now, when we get into outsole, we have a geometrical patterned shape for the outsole of the shoe. It’s a translucent outsole bottom and it has a mid-foot carbon fiber shank. Double zoom units and carbon fiber. Nike don’t even do that. they current models on like Kobes and like that to get those. I was actually very surprised with the traction as well. Um I gave it a nine out of 10 with traction like playing them on the court. I gave a 9 out of 10 when I went to go shoot around in them, do my workout playing them and ran around a little bit. Felt good. Did the traction test as well to test it out. Then went to go hoop today as y’all saw. Traction was good. I did have one slip out, but I think I fell. So I’m not going to call it a slip out. I just literally stepped and kind of leaned a little too much trying to bump somebody and I fell. I low key got up smooth. I wish I would have hit the shot. I’m pretty sure I left it in there so y’all see that too. But I wish I hit that shot. It would have been crazy. And they do squeak. [Music] As far as the fit for the shoe, I feel like they run a little bit long, but uh other than that, I would go true to size. They’re not extremely narrow. They’re they’re a little narrow. They’re definitely not like a wide footer shoe to say the least. I touched on the price a little bit earlier in the video. It’s going to be hard to find. Find a used pair in a really good condition. Make sure there’s no soul separation. You might be able to find a pair for like 152 just cuz they’re not like a hot commodity. Like there’s not a lot of people out there like, “Oh, I I’m going to go buy the KD5 elites to Hoopman.” It’s really like people like me that do shoe reviews or different collectors and people like that. It’s very niche audience for shoes like this or KD fans, I guess, too. You could throw in that group. The weight for the shoe is about 360 grams. Average weight for my size hoop shoe is 370 to 400 grams. So, it was a little bit under average weight, but they felt good. Felt like a lightweight shoe. Overall though, I really did like the KD5 Elites. I really hope they pro these and fix this uh cushioning setup they got going on. I didn’t really dunk or anything, so I nothing on the court that I did that would really like fire my heels or mess me up or anything. really display how bad the cushion was, but it’s not great to say the least. Look on these is absolutely insane. I had a couple people at the gym even ask me like, “What are they? Where’d you get those?” Some people thought they were Kobes. This one I hate, bro. I hate the fact that everybody calls everything this low top eight Kobe. But this one, I could kind of see it. They kind of kind of the bottoms. You can even kind of go Kobe 10 a little bit. Kobe 6 upper, Kobe 5 upper, maybe. I would definitely take these to the Cordigan and hoop just for the fives. Bro, these look crazy with anything you put on. Uh, I was on the court the whole time like panicking like, “Please don’t have a blowout or break on me. I’m going to be a little bit hurt.” Especially cuz I just bought them, too. But another shoe to add to my KD collection. I already made my KD collection video. So, unfortunately, this is not going to be in there. And unless I happen to get a bunch of KDs that they release of the 18s and if they do any Pro Tros this year, probably not going to do an updated KD collection video for a minute. But yeah, that’s all for the video. Appreciate y’all tuning in. [Music]
