The Cardinals and Braves wrap up game three of our series. The finale before the all star festivities start in Atlanta tomorrow. It’s always a sunny day when Sonny Gray pitches, especially here at Busch Stadium, the 778 winning percentage. 14 and four. Look, these guys have been winning games when they’re on the mound. Look the story for Sonny Gray trying to win 10 games before the all star break. Erickson Pro far versus Sonny Gray Pro far switch hitter, three hits in this series and that one popped toward right center late break for victor, but he’s going to track it down. He’ll slide on the grass with a great recovery and catch for out. Number one, Matt Olson at first base today for Atlanta tomorrow. He’ll be one of eight in the home run derby at his park. The two to two pitch is that check swing but it tipped off his bat and was caught by the catcher. So it’s a strikeout. He didn’t mean to do it but it doesn’t matter. Junior will bat and on the ground is short, hard hit but right at 123 innings, no score from Busch stadium, the 28 year old Ron Heer davis Daniel from Montgomery Alabama making his second appearance of the season with the Braves. But this will be his first start with his hometown team and one pitch one out. It’s good to have this young man back. I Herrera’s last game, June 19th lefty, righty. It’s good to have his back in the starting line into center. Welcome back I herrera. So there goes the no hitter that was solid off the bat and Iv-n has the game’s first hit. So Alec Burleson is next for the Cardinals Herrera takes off Baldwin’s throw, no chance. So a guy coming back from a sore hamstring throws a surprise party and steals second base here in the first inning. So first chance with Risp for the Cardinals. Burleson takes high ball 42 on and two out to bring up Thomas JC batting 244 homer 10, 22 pitch and he struck him out sweeper away. Davis Daniel works around a single and a walk. We head to the top of the second. No score. Gray got a 123 in the top half back to back. Strikeouts brings in all one ball, no strikes popped up by all this one fouls, tosses the mask and makes the basket catch and that will retire the side. Sonny Gray pitches has six up, six down and score win leads off in the ST Louis second win hitting sixth today. That’s off the plate. Mason wins aboard. That’s the second walk. Davis Daniel has issued 30 count. Runner goes, pitch a strike throw from the knees way late and the Cardinals have stolen two bases in as many innings. The Cardinals zero for two with Risp so far today. So two down win in scoring position. Victor Scout the second at the plate on the ground off the pitcher’s glove hit streaking around his win. He will score from second on an infield hit but this is just heads up. We’ve seen a few of these plays as of late for Mason win. Davis Daniel gets a piece of this one. It goes over to second base and Mason win, take a look, he sees it and he has taken off around third. Mason Nguyen just scored. We’ve played 210 Cardinals heat up eight down for Sony Gray. Here comes Nick Allen Allen, the shortstop hitting 237. Nick Gallen one hopper past Mason went into left field and there’s the Braves first baserunner so extends the inning for Jurickson Profar and he hit a hard grounder into the right center field. Allen will head for third and pro big turn around. First. Braves have runners in the corners here, a little two out magic. Perhaps the floodgates could open here. One cardinals that could change right here. Matt Olson is over one with a strikeout and matt Olsen Clobbers one deep to right bounding back in play a run scores. Olson has to hold with a single and just missed getting out of here. But it’s a tie game. That was a laser beam to right. Just misses a home run pretty good job getting that ball in two and holding pro far at third. Braves tied up one apiece. Now they can take the lead with a base hit. Here’s ronald two balls, two strikes for a swing and a Miss Sonny Gray with him. That’s number five Braves to pick up the one run. It’s a 1 to 1 game. It’s been about an hour since the rains began here in ST Louis and it was a torrential downpour. The outfield was a veritable lake here at Busch Stadium. It’s going to be a lot of work in the next five minutes. Tractor out there still dumping a bunch dirt trying to get left field playable. The Braves look like they’re ready to take the field and good news, it’s starting to rain again. One of the wildest rain delay sequences has taken place in a long time. Oliver Marmel, Brian Snitker, the umpiring crew and matt Gifford all walked out together to left field to check on the playability of the grass area in left field. We are going to resume action with a forecast that’s calling for more rain to come at any moment this afternoon. Davis Daniel, he’s waited this out. He’s going to go back out and pitch with Yvonne Herrera at first. Nobody out. Alec Burleson, three balls, two strikes. Full count. Runner goes pitch cut on a Miss Baldwin’s throw no chance and a stolen base for Herrera two outs for and down goes to JC beat him with a fastball over the heart of the plate. And the best news of all we’re back to playing baseball after the lengthy rain delay that’s starting his second inning. So Matz has retired four straight. Here’s Harris. This one chopped up the middle. Donny can’t corral that that’s off. The end of his glove would have been a tough play to get the speedy Harris will await the scoring one on one out, two down bouncer right side and through for a base hit Harris heads to third and the side wall and pro moves up to second. Harris holds at third base and now the table is set for the Braves matt Olson with Ronald Lacuna Junior on deck runners at 2nd and 3rd. 3rd shower of the day coming through 32 and a liner to left center field. Perris scores here comes profar and Matt Olsen through the rain drops gives the Braves a 3 to 1 lead here in the fifth. Again, everything had been away looked like maybe they were thinking in and stephen Matz did not get it there. And how about the reaction for matt Olson that had to feel good for him. Another long at bat 10 is there to drive in two runs here for the Braves, big fat raindrops that are coming down right now and here comes the tarp second rain delay at the ballpark. Atlanta has just taken a 31 lead here in the fifth inning. It is about 630 local time here in ST Louis, we’ve endured two or three very long rain delays, blue skies are overhead at least patchy blue skies. This perhaps the most unusual game before an all star break. I can remember bottom of the fifth inning, Jesse Chavez is out of the Braves bullpen to get things started for the Atlanta bullpen. Victor Scott from the brand new Hurler Jesse Chavez and a leadoff walk. That’s how things start in the Cardinals. Fifth two outs to get into scoring position. I would think for Bure that one served into the gap in left center that will get down for a base hit. Victor is going to try for third , the throw on target but late so Victor Scott flies around the bases and Burleson with a two out single keeps the fifth inning alive. Go ahead run now at the plate in wilson Contreras who does have 12 homers. I pop into shallow right. Acuna coming on, still coming. He can’t get there. One run is in. Here comes Burleson. He will score. It falls in no man’s land. It’s a blue pit and a tie game that is a win win for the Cardinals right there. You see Contreras, I’ll take it. Here we go. We got a whole new game to win it first for jose Fermin. Fermin pulls his hands in. That’s driven deep to left. What a time for your first big league homer? Well, that is a baseball that Jose Fermin is going to have to get back first of the year for Fermin and a big blast here in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Cardinals are on top once again to the seventh. We go back to the top of the order with one out a runner at third but a good night for pro far two for three, a couple of singles and a ground ball to the right side. Harris coming home to score. Jerson Pro far comes through for the Braves making a 5 to 4.I think they, they say they grapo missed the bag. His case is going to be that, you know, his pinky toe kind of brushed up against it, but we’ll see if there’s really video evidence to confirm that. I mean, Jeremy Rack, the first base umpire had the best view. He was right on top of it after the call in the field stands, the runner is safe. The stands have cut it to 154 score top of the eighth. We go single and a walk with two outs. Now Harris is up and he’s got two hits versus Riley o’brien. Runners go out two Braves are stranded Cardinals lead by one and have ryan Helsley set to finish it off will be Marcello Zuna. The pinch hit works a leadoff. Luke Williams will come on and pinch run for Ozuna Williams at first not running the 3 to 2 pitch is fouled back with a good rip at a slider there. Oliver Marlow just got tossed from this game. Not happy with the balls and strikes. That’s what my lip reading said. He was mad about no strike three to Ozuna. He was mad about no strike three to profar and Oliver Marmol ejected from the game here in the ninth inning. Ali fighting for his team fighting for his pitcher here. Let’s see if Daniel Desko can help the Redbirds wrap this one up and two are out in the inning. Williams at third. Aha at first and now our nemesis sean Murphy is the final Atlanta home little chopper left side that should do it. And the first time and the Cardinals head to the break with a 54 victory over Atlanta. Boy, that was a hard fought big three Cardinals. Hang on and win 5 to 4 in a game that took a time. It was worth the wait.

  1. Once again, go to the Braves bullpen and the wheels come off the bus. To many runners stranded as always and no team more than Atlanta wants to be able to challenge pitches. I'm really tired of these insanely oversized strike zones for Braves hitters but then a normal strike zone for Braves pitchers.

  2. The way I c it the Braves got to get another manager I feel the team is underachieving the pitching isn't performing the way they should.

  3. Saggese #5 batter? Thanks for skipping over all the other hitters in the first inning, MLB… 🙄

  4. Marmol needs to learn to shut up. The ump gifted the Cards a third strike to end the eighth and at least one of the pitches Marmol was complaining about in the 9th was indeed a ball (by a ways).

  5. Every single MLB game is controlled by betting conglomerates. It is obvious if you just take the time to watch. Learn mathematics and probabilities, and you will understand. Then you will realize that this is so evil that everything has to be owned by devil worshipping, child touchers and child fluid drinkers. Wake up and change the world.
